(S.1) Chapt.19 - Nothing Like A Girl Time
It was one bright, crisp morning. The sun was slightly still low, who only is about to awaken from its slumber and shine it's majestic rays soon later. One individual is already eyes-wide open, and that is Chase.
He took the opportunity to wake up early to map out everything on how he could smoothly tell Skye his true feelings for her, without any such unnecessary disturbance.
Actually, he'd consider guarding the Princess' crown as an insignificant thing, since the only thief who would dare to do this so, is her pooch itself. Where in she just could leash the pup and everything will be dandy, and he'll be with Skye once and for all!
"Chase!" This made the German Shepherd yelp in great shock "WHAT?!" He yelled, and found Marshall "Oh. . . Sorry Marshall" He muttered, clearly embarrassed for yelling at his spotted-friend.
"It's okay! I'm just worried you were in a trance. What's the matter?" He asked, finally emerging out of his pup house. A long sigh escaped Chase.
As for Marshall's view, he seems to become younger than already is. Maybe it was the way he looks so stern made him older during missions. The way he acts so mature, and would try not to let his soft side slip away and surface to his face. No one could ruin his "picture perfect" Look.
But that's where Skye comes in. Marshall have noticed how Chase couldn't hold up his picture while she's there. When he's supposed to act serious and calm, knowing that she's missing, he acts so different. It's not that he's a ruined masterpiece anymore, he's that imperfect-perfect individual.
Marshall is nothing but joy. Glad that maybe Chase could stress less when she's around. Since everything seems he's less frantic when Skye's presence was there.
But he wonders too, on how his convincing does not budge his fellow pup/ dog. This convinced him that Skye does have that magical touch to him.
"I just. . . Went to think early in the morning on how I could tell her. It's driving me nuts!" He exclaims, which later, he soon layed on the ground on his belly, and paws close to him, as he blew a flower nearby him, the dandelion.
As it's elegant, feather-like petals took their waltz to somewhere. The German Shepherd actually wished he and Skye were as free as that of the dandelion. Above the world, floating in air without such worry, where in he could always protect her above the dangers of the below.
As Chase was in his little world, he had slowly drifted back to reality when he heard Marshall snickering, "Don't you mean. . . You have puppy-love?" As the dotted pup bursts into laughter.
"Marshall!" The German Shepherd yelled, but couldn't contain the laughter in him. It was truly funny to him, "But. . . Sure you can call it that way, since were pups/dogs but. . . There's no way she's just my puppy love. I wouldn't get over her no matter what"
Marshall just grinned at him "Oh love. It's just confusing, isn't it? I sometimes wonder how it feels like. Not like Ryder's and you guy's love. Y'know, the other feeling of love"
"I get it" Chase replies, smiling. Although, a few other pups decided to join. And that was Skye herself. By her side, we're Rocky and Zuma. Rubble was still left alone in his tiny home to catch up more Zs.
And every pup knows that Rubble would not wanted to be disrupt from his sleep from an unnecessary reason to wake him up, when instead of being awake in the reality, he could frolic in the food field and stuff himself with it; gobble everything as if there is no tomorrow.
"Hello everyone!" The three approaching pups called out to them, as every shifting of paw dragged them closer to the one they were conversing with. Chase and Marshall had greeted them back.
But at the very moment Chase's burning auburn eyes flung open, it had found its way to land on someone's orbs. The Cockapoo's cherry pink eyes scintillate along with the foudroyant rays of the morning star, that is the sun itself.
This only had be-dazzled him further as her mellifluous voice rang in his conscience. She was a beatific pastiche, with just conflating her blandiloquent feature, her dulcet smile, and her effervescent and halcyon personality. She was plenitude of felicitous to this German Shepherd.
A rush of adrenaline train spiked to his system, chasing him to flare up underneath the coat that hooded his fragile body. Time seemed to move like snail upon her arrival.
If only he could reciprocate time to the point where she'll look at him with those exact same glamorous orbs. He'd rewind anytime as he pleases. Sadly, life just does not work for him that way, but to carry on with what he is currently in; no matter how messed and screwed up everything seems.
"What made you guys wake up early?" Chase questioned the trio, knowing that they're supposed to wake up a little later than him. He secretly declared that fate's just ruining his time slot to contemplate on confessing to Skye.
Rocky, the grey mongrel, just shrugged at him "Well, considering you're most likely about to guard the princess' crown again"
"Which may I say is irrelevant" Zuma added a missive to Rocky's "We decided to wake up early to catch up with you!"
"Since we've never got to play with you yesterday" The Chocolate Lab followed, as his mouth curled up into the universal smirk. Chase knew right away why he hadn't had time to play with them, if he had some short vacant time.
It was because Skye was in his mind. Refusing him to leave the poor Cockapoo who had stumbled back to her puphouse. Where areas, her face looked like porcelain.
The face she with held looked like colors drained away. Her expression was so fragile that you have no clue what's precisely happening in that little mind of hers.
"Uhm. . . Haha, yeah" He just agreed awkwardly, trying not to be obvious to everyone, especially Skye. Chase, himself, actually thought no one had noticed him stay and ignore Rubble's call. Sadly, those were untrue, considering Zuma had subliminally rang the bell for him.
As for Zuma, he with held a trophy triumphantly, knowing Chase was unable to wiggle out of the situation he placed him in to. "Marshall wasn't lying" Rocky whispered to Zuma's ear. Only for Zuma to nod in agreement.
"Come on! We don't wanna waste daylight!" Skye yelled gleefully, as the others started to run behind her with shining smiles.
This only had left Chase to remains standing there with such smittened smile that covers his mouth. "Oh Skye. . ." He said to no one but the air molecule itself, and him, before he had decided to chase Skye.
"Can't catch me!!" The magenta-eyed Cockapoo shouted, as she ran away from the pack with all her might. In the distance, an English bulldog laughed heartily "Don't be so sure about that Skye! Soon I'll be running away from you!" He barked, struggling to release the laughter that resonates the insides of his throat.
While everyone were very focused and determined to catch up to her, they heard extra footsteps. Marshall and Rocky decided to look back and behold, Chase himself tried to catch up with everyone, especially everyone's target, Skye.
"We got company!!" Rocky yelled, which drew Zuma and Rubble's attention to the speedy German Shepherd. "Woo! Go Chase!" The four guys cheered on to their additional member.
A laugh managed to escape Chase and said "Hey! You guys better help! I'm not doing all the dirty work here! I expect everyone's participation!" He barely yelled, due to the rapid motion that he was currently doing, that the ain't rushing to his face.
"Yes sir!" The saluted while running. With that, Chase went ahead. But everyone looked at each other, and everyone knew what sentence floated Who would dare to chase Skye when Chase is here?
Of course, the boys wanted to amuse themselves and how this would end up. But to mask their plan, they'll have to 'play along' with them.
"What?!" Skye said to herself upon hearing her friends' cheers. "OH NO NO NO NO!" The Cockapoo panicked said, as she had increased her speed so Chase wouldn't catch up to her.
He was a German Shepherd. He's a police pup, so he's gotta be fast. And Skye wouldn't have to wait and see for herself to witness Chase turn into Flash or something. She've seen him in action with speedy moves before.
"Why is my heart pumping so fast than before?!" She questions herself. When she knew Chase wasn't there, she could feel her heart beat beats for adrenaline. But now, she feels it's pumping twice the adrenaline. But what was the second cause?
Her eyes closed shut to calm her cognitive thoughts down. But only to be opened when she heard. . .
"Are those, bunny sounds?"
She placed her paw to halt and saw a bunny in front of her, as it's eyes scintillate beautifully. "Aww!" She compliments, unable to stop staring at the adorable bunny that stood before her.
"Watch out!!" Someone yelled, she looked back to Chase who was still after her, but had struggled to stop, considering he was going very fast, that stopping before crashing into Skye would be made possible.
"Oh no." Skye muttered, realizing she was playing a game with the other pups. When she was about grab the bunny and avoid him, the bunny hopped away and left Skye utterly confused and clueless. Seemingly to forget what she should do afterwards.
Then, her orbs looked towards the German Shepherd who tries to decelerate to avoid crashing into her. It happened all too fast for both of them, that neither of them had the nerve to move away.
Of course, they crashed into each other.
"I think they went this way!" Zuma yelled, leading the pack to where he thinks they went. Upon arrival, the Chocolate Lab wasn't wrong, and they were slightly in for a treat.
They found Chase on top and Skye on the bottom. Seeming Skye looked like she was knocked down by Chase, and Chase almost fell on top of her but used all his paw strength to stand himself up to not squash Skye with all his body mass. So their positions were quite interesting.
To not add up any pressure to the two, the four just stayed silent with their contained laughter. Shipping laughter I meant.
Refocusing to Skye and Chase. Both breathed heavily; eyes shake side to side out of fear. "How did we get here in this position?!" Chase and Skye yelled internally in the depths of their consciousness.
Chase had stepped back to allow Skye to properly maneuver herself up. "S-sorry. . . " They both muttered at the same time, looking away. Before anyone could speak, Ryder called.
"Chase! You're on duty!" He yelled in the distance. No reply; while the other pups on the other paw were just standing awkwardly at them. Not quite sure how to react, whether they help or not.
So, what everything turned out to, was an awkward situation. "C-chase. . ?" Marshall asked nervously. He attempted to place a paw on him, but had said "I'm. . . I'm fine Marshall. I'm fine. Thank. . . Thank you." He breathed heavily, attempting to make his words seems straight and clear. Yet his stuttering voice failed him.
"What's going on in here?" Ryder asks, as he realized Chase hadn't responded to his call. He stopped on his tracks once he found two of his pups seeming flustered. He didn't need to ask anyone further, the answer's written on Marshall, Rocky, Zuma and Rubble's faces.
"A little accident I see?" Ryder tries to break the tension between the two pups who stood still like cursed statues, bound to forever stay on that moment. Like that little mishaps of theirs were enough to flick a long set of dominoes leading to the so-called 'awkward curse'.
The atmosphere began to tense, as no one dared to speak one thing. But Chase decided to stop playing these charades. "Le-let's go Ryder. . ." The sweaty German Shepherd declared, walking past Skye who stood still like him, just before he had waltzed towards Ryder.
Her magenta eyes had landed onto the grass, the spot where their little accident had recently occurred. Upon looking at it, those beautiful auburn eyes began to haunt her back. It was so alluring that she couldn't look away, no matter how everything looked awkward and alien-like.
Time froze in her opinion. As if she had somehow, was under his spell. Capturing her eyes, her heart. . . Her inner had a weird feeling that she had. . . Liked it? But half of her screams, this is not how things are supposed to be.
They just played a second, and now they were on the grass. . .
Blinking her eyelids a few times to cut Chase's ghostly, yet magical orbs, she bravely looked at Ryder, who were just as concerned as her other pup friends who stood afar from a good distance from her, and Marshall, who was still pinned to where he was when Chase was on his own moment of contemplating.
"Ryder. . ? What are we waiting for?" Chase asks, but he was merely sounding so desperate to leave. It formed more like as of a question. Uncertainty hits him, and he knows Ryder's mind is troubled.
As the boy scratched the nape of his neck, he looked at the pups very nervously. Everyone knew that they wished they never were there to witness that such event. It sent everyone the same aura, even if they were able to feel anything but place their shoes in Chase and Skye's.
"Actually. . ." He started "I've waited for Skye to calm down a bit. She's coming with us actually" silent gasps were released out of every pups' mouths. "Believe it or not. It is true. According to Barkingburg's Princess' pooch, Sweetie. The Pooch had cordially invited Skye to spend time with her. Stating she wants company as of today"
Chase began to feel alarmed upon this. "Sweetie? What could she possibly want from Skye? "He thought to himself. Instead of allowing her to go, and indulge the moment of only them, flying on the Air Patroller side by side. He declared Ryder not to.
"Chase, why not?" Ryder asks, putting two hands on his hips of wonder and confusion. All eyes we're on him. He found a smirk blossoming, mostly thriving onto his male friends' face.
Knowing this, he has to conceal his feelings for Skye as of now. "W-well. . . Ma-maybe. She's busy?" Internally, he sent himself to face palm. The award for worst excuse might as well be given to him.
"I am free!" Skye yipped, doing a little back-flip, somehow had forgotten the situation instantly. "Great! The Princess' pooch will be pleased about this" As Ryder left them for awhile to make a quick call with the Princess of Barkingburg.
Chase swore that Ryder sometimes has too much a heart of a pillow. Maybe the reason why he was overly-protective of Skye is because of how Sweetie is a great sneak and could come up of a diabolical plan in any minute. And he'd always catch a glimpse of those smittened smile of hers, and duck away when he had turned his head towards to her. But fortunately for him, he had caught her red-pawed.
Drawing a conclusion, she might be luring Skye to her trap, and possibly have him for herself. But that won't trick Chase! He'll keep a close look on the crown, most especially Skye. She's a crowned jewel anyway, she's precious--
"Chase! Skye! Climb a board the Air Patroller!" Ryder shouted in the distance "Coming Ryder!" Both yelled, as they looked at each other, glanced back, both faces contain the after-effect of shock.
"Let's go Skye. . ." Chase ushered her, almost too forced to be said. He trully doesn't want Skye being beside some pup who has potential to commence any evil plan.
Once the three had successfully went inside the Air Patroller, the hatch shut tight behind them, and the screen had formed behind them once they've took their seats and had strapped themselves safely.
Ryder was with Robo-Dog, busily helping him captain the air bus. Chase and Skye on the other hand just sat beside each other awkwardly. Their paws almost in contact, but both eyes were looking away from each other.
"Hey." Chase suddenly whispered to her, although eyes still hidden from her sight. Skye couldn't refuse to look at him when he called, but all she see was his perfectly brushed brown fur of his head. "Yeah. . ?" She replied quietly, as if the scene had dawned upon her again.
Taking a few steady breaths, Chase apologized for the recent thing that happened between them and he should have slown himself down. "I-it's fine."
After that, the whole trip was silent between them. The pale blue sky flew across them with lots of cotton balls waving to them through a window. The engine was roaring much lively, to an extent that sometimes Chase thought he was deaf.
His eyes were trained onto the fluffy cushion, unable to think of anything to say. He scolded himself. . . Striking a conversation with Skye would always end up easy. Anything he'd suddenly blurt out wouldn't be such a fuss in his mind. He wouldn't be anything.
But now. . ? Everything seemed awkward. Doing anything would make it grow bigger. He wished sometimes that he were never to be this mature so he wouldn't be picked on every missions. Or maybe, the missions would always contain searching that it will always be in need to deeply both of them.
Thinking about it, they'd be both focused on the task. Perhaps, he'd be somewhere else. Wishing he and Skye were not even in Paw Patrol. He'd spend most of his time with her and never leave her the majority of his lifetime. Something he wished he could do at his state.
But that was wishful thinking. It was just how he felt her pain when he was away, wishing they'd instead toss that ball, or play a half an hour of tug-of-war, or play Pup Pup Boogie limitlessly.
Something he wished to do rather than saving those of in trouble. Not that he dislikes saving lives! There's just something that ticks Chase himself to favor Skye more than anything.
As the engine continued to drown away all the thoughts and words that passes by the air effortlessly. The land of Barkingburg came waving at them, as they slowly approach it. The scene was quite familiar as for Chase.
He saw shops of all sorts as busy as bees, all buzzing with excitement. The street lights were off as of now, but the sun shines ever so radiantly above. Hitting every metal gloriously, as if they were winking them.
Chase had hallucinations of those winking silver and gold were the mischievious eyes that belongs to the Princess' pooch, that he had began to bark. Startling both Robo-Dog, Ryder and Skye herself. "Chase! What's wrong?" The boy asks, worried to what ticked Chase off.
The German Shepherd had the look of alert. "Ch-chase. . ?" Ryder spoke once more, and this had snapped his back to reality. He saw shocked faces, especially hers. "S-sorry. . ." He muttered as he sat back down again, sighing.
"You okay?" Skye finally spoke after an eternity. Chase, unable to speak anything, just nodded as a response. Chase kept looking away from Skye as he felt ashamed for having an episode of anger thrown out there awhile ago.
But he has no clue that it hadn't bothered Skye one bit. As the ground slowly engulfed them, they have soon found themselves on their underground headquarters, specially built for the PAW Patrol.
"Here you go Chase" Ryder says, handing the tan pup his black suit and tie. This was Chase's cue to change, and he's done this a lot before. He knew he had to wear this to be formal, as he would be entering the castle and guard, of course, he had to be presentable.
"And here you go Skye" Ryder then handed Skye something pink and silky, she sniffed it before accepting it and disappearing behind a door. Chase didn't take too long to wear his formal attire.
He was looking fancy in deep midnight black tuxedo, topped with his techy-bow tie, that illuminates blue light upon activated to make calls. He was ever looking stunning. "Where's Skye?" He immediately asked, right after he had stepped out of the changing chamber.
"Changing into something, we want her to look formal like you do" Ryder replies, sending Chase a wink "Formal. . ?" He repeated, as he turned his head towards the door that creaked open. Behind it showed that same familiar Cockapoo, yet she looked mysterious and unknown.
She wore a very silky pink top, and a white skirt wrapping her waist line. Her pup collar was encrusted with jewels of all sorts that radiates magnificent rays, to only add more glow into her.
Right before Chase's very eyes, he have mistaken her for an angel that bathes in scintillating light. He just had to blink twice, no. . . Thrice. To check if he has been hallucinating.
But nope, no matter how many times he'll blink, he still sees an angel, only disguised as a Cockapoo. "Ready to go Ryder" she beamed, avoiding Chase's starstruck gaze. Because she knows herself that everything will just crumble into some tense situation.
"Alright, hop in the Patroller" he ushered, as the three of them hopped in with Robo-Dog, who patiently awaits them to climb aboard, and had greeted them a polite bark upon their arrival.
Without saying anything. . . They were off. Chase's burning hazel eyes remained on Skye. He couldn't help but look at how beautiful she looked with her formal outfit and with her silky white skirt playing along, it just. . . Took a moment before it sets Chase off to the moon, sky high.
He was completely entranced by her beauty, and especially that hidden gem that scintillates from within and over-shines everything, the one that captures Chase's heart over and over again, no matter how many time he slumbers for another day to rise, it was like a routine for his heart to be enlocked too immediately when his orbs land onto hers.
Everything seemed to pass like a blurry haze when he was with her, and verily loved that feeling.
As if almost too soon to end his dreams, the Barkingburg Palace grew dramatically in the distance, and disappointment looms over the German Shepherd, knowing he can't spend this wonderful day with her. Instead, he'd be beside the pedestal where the crown is 'securely' (which is not, when that Sweetie is on the loose) placed, and for extra measures, the eye of an alert dog, him.
And as for Skye, she would be spending the rest of her day with Sweetie. But he minded everything. To how everything smells like a trap. As if this was planned all along, knowing Ryder could not resists in helping, even to those who are considered evil.
Chase sighed, when he realized everything seems to dawn on him altogether so soon. Of course, the pup close to him had noticed his sigh, that will not be mistaken for a relief. "What's wrong?" She asked, as if reading his mind all of a sudden.
The German Shepherd, who's not quite mentally ready for her to speak on how he's doing, just looked and said "I'm. . . Doing mighty fine" and he had internally slapped himself for saying those. He never in a million years would describe his feelings with mighty. Instead, he'd answer so decently.
And they both knew it was a lie. Skye knew he is somewhere far away now in his little world. That he, himself, got himself lost at the depth of how far he has gone on his journey. "No. Really, what is it really--" before they would start something serious to talk about, Ryder had called their attention to hop off and do their assigned task for today.
"Yes Ryder, sir" Chase said with no hesitation, hopping off from his seat. He knows well Skye won't stop buzzing him with questions, especially when it comes to how well he is feeling at the moment. But he did not dare to share, not right now. He thought to himself he may be over-thinking all these, and maybe. . . Sweetie did need some company.
But it's a pull from left to right, he doesn't know who to believe at the moment. Which left him muted about it. "Chase, we can talk about this. It can only take a minute" the Cockapoo insisted, as she ran after him, who had stepped out of the Patroller and followed behind Ryder.
"I am positively sure I don't need the consulting" he whispers and smiles a little to her, letting her know he can battle his own wars right now; that right now he's fully equipped that he could handle on his own. He wasn't kneeling on his knees at the moment, where he wasn't in the verge of loosing all his tears and would die of wounds from his bloodshed fight.
As what expected, Skye didn't looked satisfied without getting anything from him. But, she had remained silent and convinced herself that maybe. . . Maybe. Maybe he needed time to muster it all up. Which is what he exactly needed. Gather everything up and tell him what is happening.
The surrounding became deafeningly quiet, that a ghostly bell constantly rang in their heads, and Ryder couldn't say he hasn't feel this thing too. Once they've entered the ancient Palace, they were greeted by the Earl instead, he had explained to how the Princess had left early for tea, and that she had planned to go consult the farmers.
All were understanding to take a few minutes to be told a tale and once everything was about to conclude, Sweetie herself had appeared beside the Earl "Ah, Sweetie! I see you've finished your morning bath, yes?" The West Highland Terrier nodded "Yes, I am quite done and ready for some company, if you don't mind"
She may seem she was still talking to the Earl, but Skye knew Sweetie was referring to her. Chase and Skye just stood beside each other, side by side, completely dumb-founded to what to do next. But Sweetie seems to launch the move, and that was inspect the Cockapoo for herself.
Her eyes looked from bottom to top, and bluntly remarks "You look sufficient." With a tone that lacks of interest. Somehow, this had offended Chase himself. He wanted to protest she looks more than sufficient. She was more than that; beyond that anyone could describe.
But he had to be serious and not argue with the Princess' pooch, otherwise, it'll get messy likewise that situation back at the look out. "Come along now" she demanded, as she began to waltz back to some room in the hallway.
Chase expected for her to look back, and tell her stay, by just looking at her. Unfortunately, she had obeyed Sweetie's wishes and followed behind her. "Chase, she'll be fine. . . You're over acting" he told himself over and over again. . .
. . .Shifting our focus, lenses are on Skye and she quietly follows Sweetie behind. The hallways were dark and candle holders remained unlit, just like the first time she went here. Luckily, a few lights spill here and there from rooms.
But it felt more like hours to go wherever. It was like they were in an endless loop, where the hallway would never end and make turns or anything. Suddenly, something magical happened. They stopped and had arrived.
They seem to be in the Princess' room. It was huge. There was a bed that spreads the left side of the room, and royal blue blanket covers the duvet atop. The frame of the bed were encrusted with real, glittering gold, and two translucent curtains drape at the two corners of the bed, where a rope with a similar color as of that blanket securely holds the tied-up curtain safely and neatly.
A dresser exists too, filled with stack of papers, a porcelain white-pot full of ink, and a blue feather dipped into. The desk wasn't messy, aside from what Skye's assuming contracts, complaints and laws that the Princess hasn't approved yet. Below the dresser, there was a seat for her with a similar shade of blue likewise that of feather and blanket.
Moving to the right, there was a door, and she knew it was a walk in closet, then another door appeared, which is most likely the bathroom. Between those rich wooden-doors, there stood a couch that is popped with royal blue as well. Below it seems to be Sweetie's stuff.
Skye tried to find Busby, considering it's not only a tool, but her favorite toy, doesn't seem to exist in the basket below. All she found were extra clothing, crowns, brush and other grooming things. "Like what you're seeing?" She began to ask, which had startled Skye.
Unable to comprehend, she just nods all too immediately "It's wonderful." She meekly complimented, still out of the room. The white pooch's brows raised in confusion "What in bloody hell are you still doing outside? I ordered company. Not eyes to guard. I'm sure Chase had that territory down"
"Y-yes. Chase. Right. . ." She apologized, realizing she stood still here in awe. "So Sweetie, what do you want to do?" She asks, as she watches Sweetie think hard while her eyes are on her own basket "Not quite sure" she admitted "But I do want to have some tea with you, is that quite alright?"
Her eyes landed on her cherry eyes, Skye looked here and there, anywhere and everywhere but her. Ryder had told her that drinking human beverages could be dangerous, well at least some of them, and she's not sure if tea are one of those human drinks that are dangerous for some-pup like her.
"Don't worry, it's decaffeinated tea. It's absolutely safer for dogs." Sweetie reassured, almost as if reading her mind. Skye hesitates for a little bit, and a fee moments later, she nodded and wanted to give it a go, but just a tiny amount. One cup.
"Splendid! What would you like? Chamomile or Peppermint?" Then she walked to the basket to grab two tea cups. "Um. . . What is Chamomile--"
But before she could complete her sentence, Sweetie had already reverted her attention to something else"Magnificent choice. Butler! Brew us some Chamomile Tea. Please? . ." And as if like magic, the Butler came within the blink of an eye and whisked their cups away to be filled with tea.
As the tea were taken care of. Sweetie had set up their little tea party. She took out to fancy porcelain mini plates, the one that had vines and floral designs surrounding the edges of it, a plate for their tea cup and a flower with its delicate vase. "Come sit" she insists while she sits comfortably on the rug that's been laid down already.
A small smile appeared, but it was full of uncertainty. Before the awkwardness could stretch, the Butler reappeared with two cups filled with Chamomile Tea and a bowl of Blueberries. He placed a sufficient amount on each plate and had disappeared when the bowl of blueberries were empty and equally distributed to the two pups.
And so there were two.
"You might be wonderin'. Why would I want to get some tea with you? The answer's quite simple. Here in Barkingburg, tea is common, and which results to have a little chit-chat with each other. Its like for common Americans, you go get some coffee and chat, and here is tea"
Skye had only picked up little from that speed talk, but just nodded to not offend her and let her repeat it again. To make herself busy, she began to munch on the fresh blueberries. "So Skye. Tell me. What its like to be in the PAW Patrol? Does it. . . Feel nice to save people and animals?"
This was a question that she could easily answer "Its pretty nice. You get to see smiling faces when they're saved, and it gives you that warm-fuzzy feeling" and had miraculously remembered Chase after saying the last three words in her sentence. This made her involuntarily smile, and Sweetie had mistaken this for that she was glad that she could save lives.
"What about you? Do you like being the Princess' pooch?" Now it was Skye's turn to ask, and Sweetie was silent. The pooch wasn't really sure if she loves or hates it. Sometimes she loves it here, since life here is so easy, and everything comes to your face effortlessly. But holding up a picture is a huge effort to make.
Which makes her think sometimes, that she'd rather live a simpler life than being here. "I am not quite sure, really. . . It's been my bread and butter and. . . It could get awfully boring here. But aside from that, I enjoy it"
They both smiled at each other. And soon, they began to chat the whole morning away. They were filled with laughter and gasps and snorts, and. . . Everything that you would see in some girl chat. Their plates were barely touched, and the tea was still almost full.
It was such a magical moment. Or maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was the way the sun elegantly showers them in its glorious rays. Or maybe it's because of their light-hearted conversation, or maybe it was because she's having a high-class tea with the Princess' pooch.
But no matter what gave this effect away. She was glad she felt it, and had thanked she joined in this innocent and adorable tea party of hers. When their laughter had died down in the atmosphere, they began to munch on their blueberries and sip a little bit of tea there, to restore their hydration from that laughing and boomerang-like conversation.
"Oh that was absolutely fun!" Sweetie marked, laughing with a smile still pasted on her cheeks, and Skye couldn't agree more "Yes. Indeed". Then, Sweetie looked down to sip her tea again, and Skye decided to finish her blueberries.
"Hey. Isn't that Alsatian pooch. . . I don't know. Fascinating?"
Skye hummed a confused whimper, "Oh! My apologies. I meant the German Shepherd. He seems interesting, yes?" And continues to sip her tea in peace. The Cockapoo stared at her plate, half-deserted. She stopped to think.
To her, Chase is interesting in his own ways. She've noticed to how he'd somehow break his maturity picture when it comes to her. And to how he's very serious to everything else.
As if he had a split personality, and the other half remained unknown. But to her, Chase had showed a speck of his other side, and she was eager to know more about him. She wants to find out his true self, his true intentions. . . Everything.
But then, his burning auburn eyes haunted her back, it was enthralling, that she had stared into those eyes who spark and roar to life. Something in his eyes are yelling something that she can't quite put her paw on it.
It was. . . Begging for her attention and time. But everything seems to always crumble upon them. His eyes weren't just looks of simplicity. It had a meaning, and it was longingness. But what was it?
This is why she finds Chase fascinating. He always keeps her on her toes(or paws) to look out for more answers. "Yeah. I do think he's interesting" she admits, not realizing she's already burning in the inside.
"And so that connects the stars" Sweetie said.
"Huh?"
"Oh you sweet, naive Cockapoo. Didn't you smell something sickening? This is a trap" then Sweetie's eyes glowed into something dark, horrifying aura enwraps Skye that makes her want to flee. But the pooch had cornered her in some space that is too impossible to escape.
Her eyes trembled at the sight she's saying. Even though Sweetie held nothing, she was terrified of what she'll do next. Maybe she'd claw her and nobody would believe her it was Sweetie, for she is the "Princess' sweet pooch".
Maybe she'll be ridiculed of. So what explanation could she invent? Nothing. Because all these seem too dark and everything's happening all to fast. Every scene rushes like a raging train. Her heart thumped loudly as of those waves that crashes back down to Earth. Her head spins around that sends her tipsy, that she's about to fall onto her paws and lay down and. . . Give up.
"W-what are you doing?" She manages to asks, still in utter shock and horror. But the pooch remained silent, and once Skye had reached the wall, a devious smirk blossomed on Sweetie's face "Something that should have been done a long TIME ago"
"What?!" She asks once more, this time, more desperate to know what she actually meant. But before she could even comprehend anything. Before she could fight back. Scream. Run away. Protect herself from this devil that disguises herself as some pooch. Before she could guess what next would happen.
She blacked out. . .
