chapter 9 - Perishing Angel

Outfits in the external link

From 4.06 "Orphaned", at the well, Natalie looked at Liam in relief and happiness, smiling a small, surprised smile, tears in her eyes, looking so relieved that she could cry, pulling him into her arms. Liam returned the embrace, holding tightly in relief.

Angel: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Teen Wolf)"

From 4.04 "The Benefactor", 4.05 "I.E.D.", and 4.06 "Orphaned", Lydia broke the code to unlock the lists.

Scott: (voice over from 4.05 I.E.D.) "It's a dead pool. A hit list of supernatural creatures."

From 4.06 "Orphaned", in the Sheriff's office, Stiles, Stacie, Lydia and Angel were facing Jordan.

Angel sighed, taking the paper, flipping it over for Jordan to see the last four names on the list under the fold. His, Angel, Kira and Natalie's names.

Jordan stood, turning away. "That's kind of terrifying." He sighed. "What's the number?"

"That's how much you're worth," Lydia answered.

Jordan looked at Angel. "We're both worth seven dollars?"

"Seven million," Angel corrected, holding up seven fingers.

From 4.06 "Orphaned", on the street, Angel skated down the street uncontrollably, unable to stop. She looked forward, widening her eyes, gasping.

A car was driving toward her, blaring its horn as it tried to stop.

Angel swerved out of the way, skating down the street.

Angel: (voice over from 4.06 Orphaned) "I don't even know what the hell I am, so how do they even know about me?"

From 4.06 "Orphaned", in the Sheriff's Station, Jordan and Angel sat at his desk.

"You need to tell me your theory about why we're both on there," Jordan told her.

Angel sighed, looking down nervously, nodding. "Yeah, we'll get to that."

From 4.07 "Weaponized", outside the school, Sheriff, Jordan and Raphael were talking.

"I don't think the Orphans were the only professional killers in Beacon Hills," Jordan told them.

From 4.04 "The Benefactor", in the school hallway, the Mute ran toward Derek.

From 4.07 "Weaponized", in flashback, Simon/the Chemist drag the inoculated tea.

From 4.07 "Weaponized", in the hospital hallway, the blonde assassin raised her gun.

From 3.19 "Letharia Vulpina", in Adriana's car, Adriana was in the driver's seat.

Lydia was in the passenger seat.

Allison and Natalie were in the backseat.

Adriana held out her phone to show them the picture of Peter.

Lydia held her phone next to Adriana to show Malia's picture next to Peter.

"Peter and Malia?" Allison asked.

"Father and daughter," Natalie answered.

From 4.02 "200", outside the school, Scott and Stiles were walking together.

"I mean, you haven't told Tara that Malia is Peter's daughter, have you?" Stiles asked. "That Malia is Tara's cousin? And Derek's, for that matter."

From 4.07 "Weaonized", in the Hale Vault, Stiles walked closer to Malia, kneeling in front of her. "Hey, you all right?" Malia didn't respond. "Malia." Stiles put a hand on her shoulder. "Malia."

Malia instinctively grabbed Stiles' wrist, looking at him coldly in betrayal, pushing his hand away, reaching for the paper on the floor, standing, walking toward Scott and Tara. She pushed the paper to Tara's chest.

Tara looked down at the last third of the dead pool. She let Scott go, taking a step away, turning away, looking at the name 'Malia Hale' on the list.

From 4.08 "Time of Death", in Tara's room, Scott stood in the doorway, talking to Tara. "I'm an idiot. I admit it. I couldn't die with you hating me."

Tara sighed, looking down. "I don't hate you. After everything, I don't think I ever could. But I'm still angry."

From 4.05 "I.E.D.", in Stiles' room, Stiles wrote across the board. The Benefactor. He drew an outline of a human head, drawing a question mark where the face should have been, capping the marker.

Tara: (voice over from 4.08 Time of Death) "We might know a lot more about who the Benefactor is now."

From 4.08 "Time of Death", in Tara's room, Scott and Tara were talking.

Tara sighed. "Who has the power to know when someone's dead, but doesn't need to see the body to know what happened?"

Scott looked at her in realization. "A Banshee."

From 4.08 "Time of Death", in the boathouse at the lake house, Lydia, Ari, Adriana and Nicole were going through a box, kneeling on the floor.

"This is the last thing your grandmother wrote down before she died," Nicole told them, handing them a small piece of paper.

Ari took it so Lydia and Adriana could see it on either side of her.

Lydia, Ari and Adriana looked numbly at the paper, recognizing it.

"This isn't nonsense, Mom," Lydia told her.

Ari looked down at the numbers, letters and punctuation marks on the paper, in the same language as the dead pool code before they cracked it with the cipher keys. "It's code."

Day One

Night - Parking Lot - Jordan's Police Car

Jordan was unconscious in the driver's seat, handcuffed to the steering wheel with plastic handcuffs.

Angel: (voice over) "I need to tell you something, and I need you to believe me. I need you to believe in the impossible. Can you do that for me?"

Angel was unconscious in the backseat, handcuffed to the grating wall between the front and backseats.

Jordan: (voice over) "What's this about, Angel?"

They both had bleeding temples from being hit really hard on the head with something.

Angel: (voice over) "I'm gonna tell you why our names are on the dead pool, and I need you to believe me when I say it."

Angel woke up from the memory, taking in her surroundings, confused and alarmed. "What the hell?"

She could hear something splashing against the car. She looked out of the window, seeing a guy in a deputy's uniform and a gasoline can, splashing the gasoline against the car.

Angel looked at her wrists restrained against the bars, breathing heavily, laying as far back on the seat as she could, kicking against the window as hard as she could, but nothing happened.

The Deputy suddenly appeared in front of the window, making her gasp and sit up. It was Jordan's partner from 4.02 200, Haigh. "You're not supposed to get out of the backseat of a cop car, Angel. That's why I put you back there." He looked up to the front seat of the car. "And why I put him up there." He looked at Angel. "But I was hoping you'd both stay out for a little while longer, so..." He put a finger to his lips. "Shh."

Angel glared at him. "Screw you, Haigh." Haigh chuckled, starting to pour gasoline over Angel. Angel turned her head away, closing her eyes and mouth.  Haigh continued splashing it over the car, circling around it. Angel looked at Jordan, who was still unconscious. "Uncle Jordan. Jordan!" She used the plastic handcuffs to shake the barred window hard enough to make a loud noise. "JP! JP, wake up, you gotta wake up!"

Jordan woke up. "Angel?"

"Jordan?" Angel asked shakily. "We gotta... We have to..."

"Just hang on, okay?" Jordan asked. Haigh was still splashing gasoline against the car. Jordan looked at him, but couldn't see his face. "Hey. Hey! What are you doing? Listen. Listen to me. I'm a Deputy with the Beacon Hills Sheriff's Department."

Haigh looked at him through the window. "Damn. I told Angel not to wake you up."

"Haigh?" Jordan asked incredulously. "What the hell? What the hell are you doing?"

"Please, stop this," Angel told him.

"You're a good guy, Parrish," Haigh told him. "Your little niece Angel there is a good kid. But the list says you're both worth 7 million dollars."

"Haigh, listen," Jordan told him. "I mean, I barely make $40,000 a year."

"I only make 36," Haigh told him, pouring gasoline over Jordan.

Angel struggled against the plastic cuffs, laying down, kicking against the window. "Haigh, please, just stop! You don't have to do this!" She kicked again, twice. "Just let us out!"

Angel kicked again, making the glass crack.

"If you're having money problems--" Jordan started.

"Together, you're worth a total of 14 million dead," Haigh told them, putting the gasoline can down, walking back around the car. "Sounds like you got the problem."

"Please," Angel told him. "Please, don't this!"

"You're just gonna stand there?" Jordan asked. "You're just gonna listen to a fellow Deputy and Angel burn to death?"

Haigh put one ear bud in his ear.

Jordan struggled against his restraints.

Angel kicked against the window again. It cracked. Angel kicked again. It cracked even further.

Haigh took out a zippo lighter, flipping it open, lighting it.

"Haigh, wait!" Angel told him.

Haigh threw the lighter inside the car on the seat next to Jordan.

"No, wait!" Jordan told him. The car was set ablaze. Jordan and Angel were in shock. Jordan looked at Angel. "Listen to me, Angel, close your eyes. Don't you dare look around." The fire burned closer to him. "Close your eyes, Angel."

Angel hesitated, starting to cry, barely moving her head in a nod, closing her eyes.

The fire finally reached Jordan's body, trailing over him, making him scream loudly in pain.

Angel flinched, opening her eyes.

The fire trailed into the back of the car.

Angel tried to get as far away as she possibly could, her back against the door, her legs on the seat, curled to her chest between her arms, her wrists still restrained against the barred window, even though she knew it was useless.

The fire burned along the seat, closer to Angel.

Angel closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, trying to relax and deal with the fact that she was about to die, even with Jordan still screaming.

Fire touched Angel's skin.

Angel opened her glowing, deep gold fiery eyes.

The fire burned across her entire body, making her scream in agony.

The flames completely consumed both Jordan and Angel.

Outside

Haigh couldn't hear the screaming through his music, watching the flames.

Sheriff's Station - Sheriff's Office

Stacie, Stiles, Ari, Lydia, Adriana and Sheriff walked in.

Sheriff faced the teens.

"It's not just that she could still be alive," Adriana told him.

"It's that she would've had to fake her death," Ari agreed.

Sheriff pointed at Ari, Lydia and Adriana. "Your grandmother, Lorraine Martin, faked her death?"

"Definitely," Stacie told them.

"Maybe," Adriana corrected.

"More than likely, yes," Stiles told them.

"Oh, I'm guessing you got a story to back this up?" Sheriff asked, crossing his arms over his chest.

"She might be helping the Benefactor," Lydia told him.

"Or is the Benefactor," Stacie told him.

"That sounds like a story worth hearing," Sheriff told him, closing the door.

Ari sighed, nodding.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Main Room

Haigh was sitting at his desk, unable to hear the conversation in Sheriff's office, reporting to the Benefactor via computer, requesting his money wire transfer for Jordan and Angel's death.

Haigh: Inquiring money wire transfer.

Sheriff opened the door to his office. "Anybody seen Parrish or his niece around here? You know, the one that keeps skating in the station when she's not supposed to. Her name's Angel. Haigh?"

Haigh looked up, shaking his head. "Haven't seen them."

Haigh looked at his computer, but there was still no reply from the Benefactor.

Angel was not dead, covered in soot, dressed in the barest remains of her burned clothing, opening the glass double doors, walking inside, grabbing a deputy's jacket from nearby, wrapping it around her body. (slow motion)

Jordan walked in, covered in soot, dressed in the barest remains of his burned clothing, walking toward Haigh angrily in a rage for trying to kill him and his niece (slow motion)

Haigh saw them, rolling away from his desk. "Holy..." He tried to pull his gun. Jordan ran toward Haigh, pushing him against the wall in absolute anger. Haigh fired his gun, shattering a window. "You're dead. You're both dead."

"Guess again," Angel told him.

Jordan yelled, pulling Haigh away from the wall, pushing him to the floor.

Sheriff opened his office door, raising his gun. "Hey, hey!"

Haigh shot Sheriff in his shoulder, making him fall.

Lydia screamed.

Ari and Adriana stood next to her, pulling Lydia back from the door.

Stiles and Stacie knelt next to Sheriff .

"But you're both dead!" Haigh told them.

Jordan punched him in his face repeatedly, over and over and over again, in absolute rage. He finally stopped, looking up, breathing heavily, turning to look at Angel.

Angel sighed, tilting her head at her uncle. "Now you believe me?"

On the computer screen, a single message from the Benefactor appeared.

KILLS NOT CONFIRMED

On the back of Tara's hand, a triskele appeared. The spirals were black. The tip of one spiral was Beta blue. The tip of one spiral was Beta gold. The tip of one spiral was Alpha red. The intersection point was purple.

Derek looked up, shirtless, his eyes closed, shifted, roaring. Dust was falling off of his body. Tyler Hoechlin.

On Derek's back, a triskele appeared.

Hale Loft - Living Room

Ari, Lydia and Adriana had brought Angel and Jordan to the loft to debrief Scott, Tara, Derek and Natalie.

Angel and Jordan were showered and in a change of clothes. Neither of them so much had a scratch.

"I don't get it," Angel told them. "Before the fire, I couldn't heal like this, but now..."

Derek had one of Jordan's hands, and one of Angel's, flipping them over for an examination. "He covered both of  you in gasoline?"

Jordan nodded.

"It's the hair and nails, isn't it?" Lydia asked. "The parts of the body that are essentially dead."

"Well, they should be gone," Ari told them.

"Angel and I were set on fire," Jordan told them. "All of us should be gone."

"Not if you're like us," Natalie told them. "Except we already know that neither of you are like us."

Adriana looked at Jordan and Angel curiously. "Then what are they?"

"Sorry, Adriana, but I have no idea," Tara told her. She looked to her brother to the right. "Derek?"

Derek shook his head. "I don't know, Tara."

"But you both knew about Jackson and Kira, Tara," Scott told her.

Tara tilted her head at Scott, still a little mad. "This is a little out of our experience."

Scott looked at Tara sadly.

Tara looked away.

Derek looked between them.

"I've been looking through the my mom's books, and none of them said anything about anyone walking through flames without a scratch," Angel told them.

Derek looked at Ari and Adriana. "There might be something in the bestiary. Did you try Argent?"

"We don't know where he is," Ari told them.

"Okay, hold on," Jordan told them. "What the hell is a bestiary?  Actually, that's not even my first question. What the hell is going on here?"

Adriana held up her hand. "Patience, please."

Jordan sighed, looking at them. "Just... Just tell them one thing. Are all of you like Lydia? Are you all psychic?"

"Psychic?" Natalie repeated.

"Yeah,"  Jordan answered.

Natalie looked at Angel. "Angel, how much did you tell him?"

"Just enough for him to know that we're supernatural creatures of the unknown variety, Natalie, and that was before we were burned alive, but he didn't really believe me then," Angel answered. She looked at Jordan sarcastically. "You believe me now?"

Jordan nodded with just as much sarcasm. "Yes."

"Okay," Adriana told him. "Then you're ready to take the next step."

"Adriana, what's the next step?" Jordan asked.

Angel looked at the others.

Scott looked at Tara.

Tara tilted her head, raising her eyebrows.

Scott closed his eyes, looking at Jordan, opening them, letting his eyes glow red.

Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Sheriff's Hospital Room

Sheriff was lying in bed, filling out paperwork.

Stiles and Stacie sat at his bedside.

The doctor was standing nearby. "All right, Mr. Stilinski."

"Sheriff," Sheriff corrected..

"Sheriff Stilinski," the doctor told him. "We have you scheduled for surgery first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, it's going to take a little digging to get that slug out of your shoulder."

"Yeah, it's fine," Sheriff told him. "One more." He pointed at the paperwork. "What's this part here? This line? Is it the same when Stacie had to get the bullet out of her stomach?"

Stacie looked down in guilt.

"Yes," the doctor answered. "Patient responsibility. Parts of the procedure and hospital stay not covered by insurance."

"Are those big parts?" Sheriff asked. "Expensive parts?"

"That's between you and your insurance, unfortunately," the doctor told him. "You should start feeling the morphine in a minute. Try to get some rest, Mr... Sheriff."

The doctor walked out, leaving.

(Song:) lulius - Justin Nozuka

Stiles and Stacie looked down.

Sheriff looked at them. "Hey, stop that. I was just curious about the terminology. We're not in any kind of dire straits."

"We know about the bills, Dad," Stacie told him. "We know about the collectors calling about Eichen House."

"We know about about the advance from the department, about the credit cards," Stiles added.

"Are you both going through my stuff?" Sheriff asked.

"Yeah, we go through all of your stuff," Stiles answered. "Especially when you keep things from us."

"I keep things from you two because you don't need to know everything," Sheriff told them.

"Yes, we do," Stacie told him. "We have to know everything. How the hell else are we supposed to take care of you?"

"Neither of you are supposed to take care of me," Sheriff told them. "I'm the Dad, you're the kids. You get it?" He pointed at himself. "Dad." He pointed at Stiles and Stacie. "Kids. I take care of you."

"We're supposed to take care of each other," Stiles told them.

Stacie sighed, sitting down in the chair behind her, holding her side.

"Stacie, we're going to be all right," Sheriff told her.

"How do you know that?" Stacie asked.

"I don't," Sheriff answered. "But the morphine's kicking in. I'm not all that worried about anything right now."

Sheriff chuckled, sighing, falling asleep.

Stiles looked at Stacie. "But Stacie and I are."

Stacie nodded.

Hale Loft - Living Room

Angel, Scott, the three Martins, the two Hales, and Natalie tried to tell Jordan everything they could

Angel and Jordan were sitting on the couch.

Jordan looked up at them. "What's a Kanima?"

Angel raised her eyebrows, tilting her head, looking at the others.

Scott sighed. "We'll get back to that." He walked closer to them, sitting on the arm of the couch next to Angel. "Just know that everyone like us, everyone with some kind of supernatural ability is on the dead pool."

"But we don't even know what we are," Jordan told them

"I'm pretty sure that they don't care," Natalie told him.

"How many professional assassins are we talking about?" Jordan asked.

"We're starting to lose count," Ari told him.

"But is it still just professionals?" Tara asked.

"I don't think Haigh's ever tried anything like this," Jordan told them. "I think he was taking a chance."

"Like he was taking a chance when he bugged my skates," Angel told them.

"Angel, how do you bug skates?" Tara asked skeptically, raising his eyebrows at Angel.

Angel held up her skates and a remote, her attitude matching Tara's. "When they can be controlled by this, Tara." She hit the button on the remote.  The wheels started to spin.  Angel hit the button again.  The wheels stopped. Angel put the skates down but still held up the remote for them to see. "The skates are electronic. This is the remote for the skates." She took out another remote. "This is the remote for the bug." She hit a button on the bug remote. The skates zipped past the loft, hitting into the wall. "They found this in his desk at the station after they arrested him. He tried to kill me not once but twice." Angel looked down, shaking her head, scoffing. "Talk about taking chances."

"But that means anyone with a dead pool can take a chance," Derek told them.

"If Haigh had it, who else does?" Adriana asked. "How easy is it to get this thing now?"

None of them had an answer.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Flashback

Day - Martin Lake House - Study

Meredith stood at the door to the study in the Martin lake house nervously. She turned to the people behind her, but they wouldn't let her leave.

Adriana: (voice over)"Meredith was only at our grandmother's lake house once."

Lorraine Martin stood at the door with a smile, leading Meredith inside.

Adriana: (voice over) "But I think once was enough."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Now

Night - Hale Loft - Living Room

Natalie was leaning against the wall next to the spiral staircase.

Tara sat on the steps.

Lydia, Ari and Adriana stood by the wall of windows.

Jordan and Angel were sitting on the couch.

Scott and Derek stood nearby.

"How did your grandmother know her?" Natalie asked.

Lydia sighed. "She didn't. She found her. Because of another woman named Maddy. The woman she loved."

"We  never met her," Ari told them, looking at the picture of Maddy and Lorraine in her hands. "But we saw her name everywhere. She used to be part of a yacht racing team. There were plagues and trophies at the lake house from all the regattas she won."

"How did she die?" Angel asked.

Adriana turned toward them. "How's not the story. It's what happened right before. Our grandmother, Lorraine, used to work in San Francisco for IBM." Ari, Adriana and Lydia turned to look out of the windows. A brightness took hold over the three Martins. Three tall, old fashioned record players seemed to appear around them as illustration for the flashback. "She was there on a weekend, catching up on work. She started hearing this sound." Thunder struck. "Like rain." Birds chirped from the distance. "But when she looked out the windows, all she saw was blue skies."

"But she kept hearing the rain?" Scott asked what sounded like a statement.

"And it just kept getting louder," Lydia answered. "Rain." Rain poured harder. "Thunder." Thunder struck louder. "Cracking." Lightning struck, crackling. "Like gunshots in her head. So loud, she finally just screamed."

"Like a Banshee," Derek told them.

"She called Maddy, who was planning on taking one of the boats out on the lake," Ari explained. "Maddy said the sun was shining there too. So Lorraine didn't say anything."

Jordan looked at them in confusion. "There was an accident?"

¤•¤°¤•¤

Flashback

Day - Lake

Maddy's body laid in the lake.

Adriana: (voice over) "It took them four days to find Maddy's body."

Lorraine stood in the boathouse, looking over the water of the lake.

Adriana: (voice over)"And then it took decades to figure out how Lorraine knew."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Martin Lake House - Study

A scientist put down the record player.

Lydia: (voice over)"She started with parapsychologists, like a PhD in their name made it more scientific."

The scientists sound-proofed the room, using tools aiming around the room.

Lydia: (voice over) "They built the study in the lake house according to every pseudo-scientific theory they could find."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Now

Night - Hale Loft - Living Room

Lydia, Ari and Adriana continued their grandmother's story for the others.

Lydia shook her head. "None of it worked."

Ari looked out of the windows. "And then she started to get into more extreme occult."

Flashback

Day - Martin Lake House - Study

Tarot cards were being placed down on a table.

A symbol was being drawn with black chalk.

Rune stones were being placed down.

Ari: (voice over) "Things like mediums and psychics, all of them failures."

Meredith stood to the door of the study.

Ari: (voice over)"Until she found Meredith. They found her at Eichen House. This fragile girl who didn't understand the things she heard."

Lorraine closed the door.

In front of the record player, two scientists stood on either side of Meredith.

One handed her a headset.

Meredith took it, putting them on.

Ari: (voice over)"They brought her to the study."

The disk started.

Ari: (voice over) "And they almost killed her."

Meredith shook, spazzing, blood running down the side of her neck from her ear, falling back.

¤•¤°¤•¤

Now

Night - Hale Loft - Living Room

Lydia, Ari and Adriana continued their grandmother's story for the others.

Ari took a deep breath. "She was hospitalized for over a year. She..." She shook her head. "Never really recovered."

"Our grandmother drove her insane," Lydia told them.

Adriana and Ari looked at Lydia.

Flashback - 4.06 "Orphaned"

Night - Eichen House - Meredith's Room

Meredith was lying on the floor with a noose around her neck.

Brunski untied the noose.

Lydia: (voice over) "And I drove her to suicide."

Ari: (voice over) "And all she ever wanted to do was help."

¤•¤°¤•¤

Now

Night - Hale Loft - Living Room

Lydia, Ari and Adriana continued their grandmother's story for the others.

Adriana took out the code. "Our grandmother created the code for the dead pool. I think she's the Banshee who put the names on the list in the first place. She left us this message in the same code."

"But she didn't leave a cipher key, did she?" Scott asked.

Lydia, Ari and Adriana all shook their heads.

Outside

(Song:) Arsonist's Lullaby - Hozier

Jordan and Angel slowly walked outside toward Jordan's new police car.

Jordan hesitated, looking at Angel. "Angel, why didn't you just tell me?"

"I tried," Angel told him. "I tried so many times. I told you about just the two of us, and you didn't believe me. How could I expect you to believe anything else that I said about anyone else?"

Jordan knew that she was right, sighing. "I know, Angel. It's just that... everything that Amelia wrote... everything she told me about growing up when she was reading me stories when our parents were out..."

"Yeah," Angel answered. "It's all real. I found out what my friend Kira was because of Mom's writing. And I've been looking for a way to figure out what I am ever since we came here to Beacon Hills. Well, since I found out the truth, anyway. But there's nothing. If Mom knew what I am, then she's not making it very easy on me to find out what it is. I've been picking up things, Uncle Jordan. Things I can just do, like it's another part of me taking over for a split second to do things that I can do. But I need to learn more. I know that the army taught you how to fight. I need you to teach me how to fight."

Angel looked at Jordan hopefully.

Jordan considered this for a long moment, nodding in agreement. They embraced for a moment, pulling away, looking up to the loft, walking toward the car, getting inside. They sighed, driving away.

Stilinski House - Stiles' Room

Lydia, Ari, Adriana, Stiles and Stacie stood in front of the translucent murder board.

Adriana held the code to the board.

Lydia held up the picture of Maddy and Lorraine next to it.

Ari took two pieces of tape, taping both to the board.

All three sighed, looking at Stiles and Stacie.

Stiles and Stacie gave them sympathetic looks.

They all looked back at the board.

Hale Loft - Living Room

Tara walked toward the spiral staircase, looking like she would walk upstairs.

Scott walked closer. "Tara." Tara stopped, looking at Scott. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay. After the fight with the Berserkers and Kate yesterday. I know that half the wounds you got would take a while to heal."

"I'm fine, Scott," Tara told him. "I'm just tired."

Scott nodded in understanding, knowing that he deserved the cold shoulder, but was glad that Tara wasn't being hateful toward him.

Peter walked downstairs.

Tara and Scott looked at him.

Peter looked at them in feigned innocence. "Oh, don't let me interrupt. Just passing through." He walked further down the stairs, looking at Scott, stopping next to Tara. "You know, Scott, you really should have told her the truth about Malia." He looked at Tara. "But don't be too hard on him, Tara. He had the best intentions but the misguided ways."

Tara and Scott exchanged a guarded, suspicious look.

Tara looked at Peter in annoyance. "Get out of here."

"My pleasure," Peter replied, walking down the rest of the stairs, grabbing his jacket, looking back toward Tara and Scott, taking his time on making his way to the door, smirking, walking out, leaving, closing the door behind him.

Tara looked at Scott. "I don't trust him. Not the way he's acting lately."

"You've never trusted him before, Tara," Scott told her in confusion.

"Yeah, but now I can tell, he's up to something," Tara told him. "I'm gonna figure out what it is. Goodnight, Scott."

Scott nodded, looking down, turning around, walking out, leaving.

(Song Ends)

Tara looked as if she wanted to walk upstairs, but stopped, sighing, sitting on the steps.

Derek walked into the room. "What was that about?"

"You already know, Derek," Tara told him in annoyance.

"No, I'm not talking about you and Scott, Tara," Derek told her. "I'm talking about Peter seeming to take quite the interest in what's going on between you two."

Tara shrugged, looking down. "I don't know. Last night... when Peter was taunting me about what happened, he was baiting me, driving me away from the loft. And then Kate came after me. All she could talk about was Scott, too. I don't know what's going on, but all I know is that they're both taking a seemingly large interest in us."

"Yeah, and knowing Kate and Peter, that could be very dangerous," Derek told her.

"Not as dangerous as keeping me in the dark for this long," Tara told him.

Derek sighed, walking closer. "Tara, I would have told you what Stacie told me if I knew that you didn't know. Just give Scott a break, okay?"

Tara raised her eyebrows at him in surprise. "Did you seriously just suggest me to let this go when it took you years to let smaller things go?" Derek chuckled barely.  "And you think I'm just talking about Scott not telling me about Malia?" Tara shook her head. "No." She stood, walking toward a table where Stacie's weapons were. "I'm talking about what you're not telling me. You don't really think I haven't been noticing you're keeping things from me, too, did you?"

Derek didn't answer, knowing that he had to tell Tara now.

Tara picked up the gun from the table.

Derek walked closer. "Careful with that."

"Thought you didn't like guns," Tara told him, baiting him into telling her the truth. Derek sighed, holding out his hand. Tara gave him the gun. "Does this have something to do with your eyes? The fact that I could pick up scents at the hospital when you couldn't? And at the clinic, when I could hold down Brett when you couldn't, and you weren't healing as fast?"

"My eyes, my strength, the healing," Derek told her. He looked up. "All of it."

"Gone?" Tara asked.

"Whatever Kate did to me, it's still happening," Derek told her, putting the gun down on the table. "And if the dead pool really was made by a Banshee, then there's something else that you should know. Stacie told me that my name broke the third list. It was a cipher key."

Tara was surprised, overwhelmed with all of the secrets that had been kept from her. "And the other two keys were Allison and Aiden."

"I don't want to make you nervous, Tara, but..." Derek trailed off. "It kind of feels like there could be a pattern there, doesn't it? Allison, Aiden, me..."

"Names picked by a Banshee," Tara told him. "It could mean that you're in danger."

"Tara, Banshees don't predict danger," Derek told her. "They predict death."

Tara shook her head in denial, turning away, overwhelmed. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tara, I needed you to worry about yourself," Derek answered. "I didn't want you to be so worried about me that you would be vulnerable to the attacks coming for you, Tara."

Tara turned to face him. "If I hadn't figured most of it out, would you have told me?"

Derek didn't answer, looking down.

Tara knew that Derek wouldn't have told her, sighing in anxiety and annoyance, shaking her head, turning around, walking away.

Derek looked as if he wanted to stop her, but knew that she needed time to process everything.

Tara walked upstairs without another word or look.

Day Two

Morning - McCall House - Scott's Room

Scott was getting ready for school, about to leave, stopping at the door, looking at the bag underneath his bed, seeing that it was sticking out slightly, closing the door, walking toward the bed, pulling the bag out, taking out all the money, frantically stacking it, counting the stacks. He was satisfied that all of the money was still there, putting the money in the bag, putting the bag under the bed.

Beacon Hills High School - Hallway

Liam walked into the school, looking around in paranoia. (slow motion)

He listened to girls laughing around him, but it didn't seem to do anything to calm his nerves.

Mason walked closer. "Liam. Hey. Am I gonna see you at the bonfire tonight?"

"Um, I was thinking about skipping it," Liam told him.

"You're not skipping," Mason told him.

"Why not?" Liam asked.

"Because you're on the lacrosse team," Mason answered. "Don't you have to go?"

Liam looked nervous. "I don't, uh..." He shook his head, looking away. In his mind, he thought that he saw a Berserker down the hallway. He looked at Mason. "I... I don't think I can make it."

"You're coming," Mason told him. "You can make a date out of it. You can find Natalie so that you can embarrass yourself in front of Natalie again, and find me a lacrosse player. Because statistically speaking, someone on your team has gotta be on my team. All right?" In his mind, Liam thought he saw a Berserker walking closer. "Liam?"

"Okay," Liam told him. "I'll be there."

Liam turned around, walking away.

Stilinski House - Stiles' Room

Lydia, Adriana and Ari sat at the desk. Stiles and Stacie stood behind them.

They were trying to figure out the key to decode the message their grandmother had left for them.

Stiles' printer was beeping because it had ran out of paper.

"Try Maddy," Stacie told them. "It's gotta be Maddy."

"Doesn't Maddy seem a little obvious as a cipher key?" Adriana asked.

"I guarantee it's Maddy," Stacie told them.

Lydia sighed, typing in Maddy's name into the keyword box.

The computer beeped, the box saying ERROR.

"Okay, your names," Stiles told them. "She left the code for all three of you, right? So, it's gotta be one of your guys' names."

Ari typed in Lydia.

It beeped and said error.

Ari typed in Adriana.

It beeped and said error.

Ari typed in Arielle.

It beeped and said error.

"Ari, didn't she call you and Adriana, Ari and Adri like you guys do?" Stacie asked. "Nicknames, people."

Ari smirked, rolling her eyes, sighing, typing in Ari.

It beeped and said error.

Ari typed in Adri.

It beeped and said error.

"One of your moms' names?" Stiles asked.

Lydia typed in Nicole.

It beeped and said error.

Lydia typed in Macey.

It beeped and said error.

"We're related through our dads, dumbass," Adriana told him.

"But didn't you guys say that they didn't like their mother?" Stiles replied. "Dumbass."

Ari held up her hands. "Stiles, Adriana, shut up."

Stiles looked at the screen. "Do any of you have any beloved pets?"

"Does it look like it?" Adriana asked.

Stacie hung her head.

Ari put her head in her hands.

"Mm," Lydia hummed, holding the bridge of her nose between her thumb and forefinger.

All three of them were 150% done with their arguing.

Beacon Hills High School - Boys' Locker Room

(Song:) Paris - Magic Man

The lacrosse team, aside from Stiles, were here.

Coach walked in. "All right. Now, I know the start of the season bonfire, it's a big deal for you guys. I also know it gets out of hand sometimes. The alumni show up, there's other teams, and alcohol. Lots and lots of alcohol." The team, aside from Liam and Scott, cheered. Scott realized that Liam was quiet and to himself. "All right, shut up. Now, what I don't understand is why anybody would ever want to get stumbling down drunk in front of a massive open fire. I'm also resigned to not being able to stop you guys." The team, aside from Liam and Scott, cheered. "I also remind you, your team captain, McCall, will be there. And I can count on him to narc on any and every one of these little bastards. Get back to class."

The team dispersed, walking out of the locker room, leaving.

Scott looked distressed and worried, sighing.

Stilinski House - Stiles' Room

Lydia, Adriana and Ari sat at the desk.

Stiles and Stacie stood behind them.

They were still trying to figure out the key to decode the message their grandmother had left for them.

Stiles sighed, lifting his head. "The ashes were left for the three of you. The code was left for the three of you. You're supposed to be able to figure this out."

"But no one else is," Ari told them. "Which is why she made it hard."

The printer continued beeping.

Stacie gestured over to it expressively. "Can you please make that thing shut up?"

Stiles sighed in exasperation. "Whoa!" He took a pile of paper, putting it inside the printer. "Okay?"

The printer whirred.

Stacie sighed, looking at Lydia, Adriana and Ari. "You... 'No one else.' No one else but the three of you."

"What?" Adriana asked.

"Our guesses," Stacie told them. "They're all about Lorraine. Right? We keep trying to guess a word that has something to do with her. So, maybe we should try to guess one that's about all three of you."

"Us?" Lydia asked. "What about us?"

"What do you guys remember doing with your grandmother?" Stiles asked. "You know, what was your guys', like, special  thing? Did you guys go to the beach? You know, did you like ice cream or..."

"We read," Lydia answered. She looked at Adriana and Ari. "They would come over all the time when we were younger and we would read with Grandma."

"Okay," Stiles told them. "What did you read?"

Ari hesitated, looking at Stacie knowingly. "The Little Mermaid."

"You read that movie?" Stacie asked.

"It was a book first," Adriana told them in defense. "Hans Christian Anderson."

Stiles gestured to the computer. "Type it in. 'Little Mermaid'."

Lydia sighed, typing in Little Mermaid.

The computer beeped, saying error.

Lydia typed in Mermaid.

It beeped and said error.

"We read it every night," Adriana told them in confusion. "Every time we spent the night together, either at Lydia's place or ours or our grandmother's. We got so obsessed with it, we actually used to take turns having the mersisters' names for three months, and we wouldn't respond to anything but the names. One of us always had Ariel because of how much we looked like her." She looked at Ari. "We mostly called Ari that because how close her real name was to it, but we always traded the names."

"Yeah, I used to call Ari Ariel every single day last year before I started calling her Kim Possible," Stacie told them. "She hated it."

"Maybe because we stopped doing it after she died and Adri disappeared," Ari told her sarcastically.

Adriana tilted her head. "I was mostly Andrina. Lydia was mostly Adella."

"Andrina for Adriana," Stiles told them sarcastically. "Never saw that one coming. Why Adella for Lydia?"

"Because Ariel never had a sister that had a name that started with L," Lydia answered. "But eventually, we all had a turn with Ariel. She was our favorite name to go by."

"It drove all of our parents' crazy," Ari told them, smiling. "But..." She took a deep breath as if she finally figured it out. "Grandma thought it was adorable."

"Oh," Lydia told them. "Not Arielle."

"Ariel," Ari finished.

Ari typed in Ariel.

The list uncoded.

Tamra Johansen

Alice Duffy

Paula Brason

Trey Lockhart

Stiles and Stacie stood over their shoulders as it continued to uncode.

Beacon Hills High School - Hallway

Liam was sitting on the stairs, holding his lacrosse stick in his hands.

Natalie walked closer, sitting next to him. "Hey.'

"Hey, Natalie," Liam told her.

"You okay?" Natalie asked.

"Not really, Natalie," Liam answered.

"What's wrong?" Natalie asked.

"Last night, my printer went off by itself," Liam answered. "I couldn't turn it off. I hit the cancel button. But it just kept printing."

"Printing what?" Natalie asked.

Liam took out the newly printed dead pool lists, handing them to Natalie.

They heard Coach from down the hallway. "What the hell's this?"

Natalie and Liam exchanged a look, standing, walking down the hallway to see what was happening, standing together at Coach's office door.

The printer kept printing the dead pool. All three parts.

Coach tried to hit cancel, but it kept printing.

Stilinski House - Stiles' Room

Lydia, Adriana and Ari sat at the desk.

Stiles and Stacie stood behind them.

They looked at the rest of the names on the list in front of them.

Josh Morris

Elisa Chin

Peter McElroy

Taylor Freeman

Terrance Shuman

Lorraine Martin

"You recognize any of these?" Stiles asked

Lydia held her thumb next to the last name on the list. "Just our grandmother."

Stiles' printer started to print on its own. It wouldn't stop.

Stiles went to stand next to the girls.

The papers spilled over the floor.

Stiles picked up a piece of the dead pool. "Guys. We need to call Scott."

"We shouldn't even be going to the bonfire tonight in the first place," Ari told them. "We should be figuring this out."

"No," Adriana told her. "You will go to the lacrosse team bonfire because you are one of the only three girls on the lacrosse team, Ari, and Stacie's not going because of the gunshot wound that Stacie got when the Chemist tried to kill Stacie.. And there are three other Werewolves that could need help tonight. Natalie and the boys ring any bells? Angel will most likely be there, too. I bet Tara will be there tonight too so she can protect Natalie, Angel and the boys. I mean, knowing Tara's tendency to protect everyone but Tara."

Ari sighed. "Adriana--"

"Nope," Adriana told her.

"Adriana," Ari repeated.

Adriana shook her head. "We will try to figure this out, Ari. Got it?" She didn't wait for an answer. "Good."

Adriana looked at the list.

Ari looked at Lydia on the other side of her.

Lydia shook her head as if to say she didn't know what to tell her.

Beacon Hills High School - Hallway

Angel, Scott, Natalie and Liam stood together, each holding one part of the dead pool.

"You see the difference?" Liam asked.

"Derek's not on the list anymore," Scott answered.

Natalie couldn't blink. "I'm not worth 10 million anymore. Angel and Parrish aren't worth seven billion each. Tara's not worth 15."

Angel was in shock. "Tara's worth $20 million. Natalie's worth 15. I'm worth 11. My uncle's worth 10."

They looked at each other in shock.

Jordan was at his desk, running the names on the newest list through the system.

Stiles, Stacie, Lydia and Adriana stood behind him.

"Well, it's not another dead pool," Jordan told them. "More like an already dead pool."

"All of them?" Lydia asked. "All dead?"

"Within the last 10 years," Jordan answered. "All suicides. And all at the same place."

"Eichen House," Stiles told them.

Jordan nodded.

Night - Beacon Hills High School - Outside

(Song:) Bootie In Your Face - Deorro

A metal cyclone was rigged with natural gas jets.

Someone lit the metal cyclone with a torch.

The flames raced up the cone-shaped sculpture.

The crowed cheered.

The DJ began to spin the records.

The crowd swayed and jumped to the music.

One of the security guards walked up to the DJ booth. The two leaned in close to each other to exchange inaudible words.

There were several other, identically dressed security guards watching the crowd.

A number of the students were drinking from red solo cups while others were drinking straight from flasks and bottles.

The lacrosse team, minus Scott, Stiles, Stacie, Ari, Liam and Kira, were all decked out in their jerseys.

Scott, Ari and Liam were here, but they weren't in their jerseys.

Angel was here, skating around on her skateboard, drinking from a flask. She wasn't listening to the music provided, but listening to the music in her headphones. She skidded along the top of a bike rack, landing on the ground, still rolling forward.

Ari walked out in front of Angel without seeing her.

Angel came to a stop, resting her left foot on the bottom curve of her skateboard to do so. She couldn't hear what Ari said, so she took out the earbuds, finally able to hear the fire blazing, the electronic music and Ari. "Sorry, Ari, what?"

Ari chuckled. "You sure it's safe to do that next to a roaring fire, Angel?"

"Ari, I've been skating since I was three," Angel told her. "That includes all that sweet flips and tricks. I've got this."

"Angel, last time you went skating, Haigh tried to kill you with bugged roller blades," Ari reminded her.

"And I still survived, didn't I?" Angel asked. "And that's why this..." She tapped her foot on the curve of her skateboard, making it flip through the air three times, catching it midair with one hand. "Isn't electronic."

"But are you sure you should even be here?" Ari asked. "You were nearly killed last night, Angel."

"I don't care, Ari," Angel told her. "I don't care if my name is on some supernatural hitlist and worth $11 million. I'm not going to let it turn me into some scared, frightened and fragile little girl and ruin me." She held up her arms in a shrug. "I'm gonna live my life."

Ari shook her head, holding up her hands in defeat, smiling. "All right. I concede. Angel, I'm surprised Kira's not here with you."

"She has to be with her mother, after she got hurt at the hospital," Angel explained.

"Yeah, but I'm surprised she's not here after she heard that you were burned alive," Ari told her.

"It's fine, Ari," Angel told her. "I just came here to get drunk and high and have a good time."

Ari nodded. "All right. Angel, did you at least tell your uncle that his price went up?"

"I am going to," Angel answered. "Don't worry, Ari. I got this."

Angel skated away on her skateboard.

Ari chuckled, shaking her head, continuing to watch the party and listen to the music, nodding to the beat.

Elsewhere

Scott saw that Malia was dancing and drinking in the crowd, walking closer. "Hey. What are you doing here?"

"Getting drunk," Malia answered. "What are you doing?"

"Trying to make sure no one gets hurt," Scott answered.

"That sounds fun, too," Malia told him, taking a drink.

"I don't want to ruin your night or anything, but we kind of can't get drunk," Scott told her.

"What?" Malia asked.

"I think it has something to do with our healing," Scott told her. "But trust me, I've tried. You're not gonna feel anything."

Malia pointed toward Liam and Natalie. "Maybe you should tell them that."

Mason and Liam were sitting at a table, drinking.

Malia continued to drink and dance.

Lydia, Adriana, Stacie and Stiles stood alone at a wall.

Stiles looked at Lydia and Adriana. "Guys, Eichen House isn't a library. You need a warrant to get files from there."

"Our grandmother left us a list of 10 suicides, including her own," Lydia told them. "There has to be a reason why."

"Is there anyone there who's willing to help us?" Adriana asked.

"No," Stacie answered. She sighed. "But there might be someone willing to take a bribe."

Stiles tilted his head at Stacie as if to ask seriously

Stacie tilted her head, shrugging.

Beacon Hills High School - Outside

(Song:) The Buzz - New World Sound & Timmy Trumpet

The bonfire party was still going strong.

Natalie was drinking, trying to take the edge off of everything, dancing to the music, having a flask, watching the party.

She saw a random guy hand Ari a red cup of beer and dance away through the crowd.

Ari looked at the cup, throwing it into the nearest trash can, walking away.

Natalie saw Scott and Malia talking and that Malia was dancing the entire time. She saw that Mason and Liam were sitting together and drinking.

Mason watched Liam drink.

Liam finished his bottle. "Not gonna tell me to slow down?"

"Actually, I was gonna say, 'Keep drinking'," Mason told him. "I think you should get drunk. And I mean, stumbling down, fall on your ass, passed out with your face in a toilet drunk."

Liam smiled, chuckling. "Why?"

"Maybe then, when I ask you what's going on, you'll be too drunk to lie," Mason answered. Liam let his smile fade in guilt. "I'm not asking this because I want to know. I'm asking because I want to help."

Liam looked away toward where Natalie was still dancing and still watching.

Natalie raised her flask to Liam, drinking, continuing to dance, using her finger to silently tell Liam to come over.

Liam looked at Mason. "I'm gonna get another drink." He stood. "And, yeah..." He dropped his bottle. "I'm getting drunk. With Natalie."

Mason looked away.

Liam walked toward Natalie.

Eichen House - Brunski's Office

(Song:) I Work Hard for the Luxury - Matt Anderson

Lydia, Adriana, Stacie,  and Stiles stood in front of Brunski as he sat at his desk.

Brunski looked at them. "A thousand."

"A thousand dollars?" Stacie repeated. "To use one little key to open up one little file room? Are you out of your mind?"

"When you get the keys, you make the price," Brunski replied.

"Right," Stiles told him sarcastically. "You actually think we have that kind of money?"

"I know you don't," Brunski told them. "If you did, Daddy Sheriff would've paid the bill by now." Stacie and Stiles looked down. He looked at Lydia and Adriana. "That's why I'm talking to them."

Adriana gave him a cold, sarcastic look.

Lydia rolled her eyes.

They both pulled out their wallets, pulling out two dollar bills.

"I have $500," Lydia told them.

"So do I," Adriana told them

Brunski gave Stacie and Stiles a smug look.

Lydia and Adriana dropped $1000 on the desk, putting their wallets away.

Brunski turned to the radio player, taking out the mix tape that he had been playing, making the music stop.

(Song Ends)

They looked at the tape that read "Play Me".

Lydia, Adriana, Stacie and Stiles exchanged a look.

Brunski put in another tape.

(Song:) Don't You Feel Me - Damon

Brunski turned to money, picking it up, sniffing them smugly, smiling, jangling his keys. "Follow me."

Brunski stood, walking around them to the door, walking out, leaving.

Lydia was still looking at the radio.

Finally, they all followed after Brunski.

(Song:) Starlight - Kenshin

The bonfire party was still going strong.

Liam made his way to Natalie. "Hey, Natalie."

Natalie smiled, dancing. "You know we can't get drunk, right?"

"Then why are you drinking so much, Natalie?" Liam asked.

Natalie shrugged, tilting her head. "Maybe 'cause I like the taste." Liam chuckled, taking Natalie's flask, drinking. Natalie took his hand, pulling him closer. "Dance with me."

"Natalie..." Liam trailed off.

"Liam," Natalie replied, still pulling him closer, smiling and laughing. She tilted her head. "It's been one hell of a painful life, and I'd like one night just to blow off steam and let go and pretend everything isn't screwed up. Just one! You know, we still haven't had that official first date. Every time we plan something, something always screws it up. What better time than now? Just let go for tonight." Liam hesitated, sighing, tilting his head, smiling. Natalie finally stopped dancing, giving him an innocent, pleading look. "Please. Pretty please."

Liam exhaled in defeat, smiling, nodding. "Okay, Natalie."

Natalie smiled, starting to dance again. "Yay!"

Liam smiled, starting to dance with her, pacing his hands on her waist. Natalie raised her arms in the air, still dancing to the electronic beat, eyes closed, turning her head side to side.

Liam smiled as he watched, dancing with her.

Natalie looked up at him with a smile.

Malia was still dancing.

Scott was with her. "I just want to talk."

"Well, I just want to dance," Malia told him.

"We had our reasons," Scott told her. "We didn't tell you about Peter..."

"To protect me," Malia finished. "That's what Peter said you would say. And guess what he said next? That you were right." Scott frowned in confusion. "Does that surprise you?"

"No," Scott answered. "It makes me wonder what he wants. Malia, we need to stay together. You, me, Stiles--"

"I don't want to talk about Stiles," Malia told him. "Just as I'm sure you probably don't wanna talk about Tara. I just want to dance. And get drunk."

Malia tried to walk away, tripping, almost falling.

Scott caught her. "Malia. Whoa, whoa, whoa." Malia laughed. Scott looked at her in confusion. "You are drunk."

Malia smiled. "Yep."

"But you can't be," Scott told her.

Malia sighed.

Liam and Natalie were still together.

Natalie put the flask to her lips. Liam tilted it up, making it spill a little on Natalie.

Natalie laughed, pulling it back. "Not fair!"

"Natalie, for someone who says we can't get drunk, you look pretty drunk to me," Liam told her. Natalie turned to the side, her back to him, her eyes closed, still dancing, nearly falling. Liam chuckled. "Whoa, whoa, whoa."

Liam caught Natalie, his arms around her as he knelt to the ground, holding her up diagonally so she didn't fall completely.

Natalie looked up at him, smiling. "I do, don't I?" Liam nodded expressively. Natalie laughed. "So do you." Natalie and Liam looked at each other for a long moment. Natalie finally kissed him deeply and sweetly. Liam was surprised for a second, returning the kiss. After a moment, they pulled away, looking at each other. Natalie pulled away, smiling, standing, pulling Liam up with her. "Dance!"

Natalie nearly fell again.

"Okay, Natalie, that's enough dancing for one night," Liam told her, starting to pull Natalie toward the bench Mason was sitting on.

Natalie turned, holding her hand toward the partygoers dancing teasingly as he pulled her toward Mason. "No."

Liam pulled Natalie to his chest, pulling her along.

Natalie laughed.

They reached the bench.

(Song Ends)

Natalie stopped, suddenly not feeling so good, feeling like a ton of bricks hit her at once, nearly falling.

Mason and Liam caught Natalie, keeping her standing. "Whoa."

Liam blinked slowly, as drunk Natalie was, using the bench to stay standing. "Natalie?"

"You guys okay?" Mason asked.

"I don't feel so good," Natalie told them, feeling sick.

"Okay, maybe you two should sit down," Mason told them.

Natalie nodded, sitting down on the bench. Liam sat next to her.

Malia and Scott had been watching Liam and Natalie.

Malia blinked tiredly.

Eichen House - Basement

Brunski opened the door, leading Lydia, Adriana, Stiles and Stacie inside, clearing his throat. "Good?"

Adriana nodded. "Yeah. We can help ourselves."

Stiles turned to Lydia. "Uh, Lydia, you got the list?" Lydia handed him the list. Brunski turned to the door, closing it. Stacie sighed, looking around. Stiles unfolded the list. "Lydia, why did you write three more names on here?"

"I didn't write anything," Lydia told them.

"This is your handwriting," Stiles told her.

Stiles and Stacie looked at the list.

Stacie looked at Lydia. "Why would you write more names?"

Stiles walked closer, holding out the paper. "Why would you write ours?"

Adriana, Stacie and Stiles' names was handwritten underneath Lorraine Martin's name in all caps.

Brunski hit a button on the wall. "It was the tapes, wasn't it?"

A fog rolled toward Adriana.

Adriana couldn't breathe within the fog, coughing, gasping for breath, nearly falling.

Stacie caught Adriana from falling, and since Ari could feel Adriana's weakness, Stacie could feel it, too, but used Derek as her anchor to not be as weak. "Adri? Adriana!"

Adriana gasped for breath, falling to her knees. "Wolfsbane."

Brunski walked closer, stabbing Adriana in the shoulder with a knife, making her gasp in pain.

Lydia screamed. "Adri! Adriana?"

Brunski took out the dagger, lifting it for them to see the same yellow wolfsbane used in 4.05 "I.E.D." and 4.06 "Orphaned". He pushed Adriana toward a support beam.

Stiles turned to him angrily.

Brunski forced a stun gun into Stiles' side.

Lydia screamed.

Stiles groaned.

Brunski pushed him down next to Adriana.

Brunski tilted his head, bones in his neck cracking. He turned to Lydia and Stacie. "Your turn, sweethearts."

Sheriff's Station - Interrogation Room

Haigh was handcuffed to the table.

Braedan walked in, posing as the US Marshal.

"And who the hell are you?" Haigh asked.

"Hello, deputy," Braedan told him, walking closer. "I'm a US Marshal working in conjunction with this office, and I'd like to ask you a few questions."

"Yeah, well, I got a question," Haigh told her, nodding to her scars. "How'd you get those scars?"

"A Werewolf," Braedan answered, walking closer. "How'd you break your nose?"

Haigh shook his head in confusion. "What's that supposed to--"

Braedan punched Haigh in the face, breaking his nose.

(Song:) Controlling Me - Hyper

The bonfire party was still going strong.

Malia and Scott were standing together.

Malia looked sick.

"Malia?" Scott asked, taking the flask from her, sniffing it. "What's in this? What did you have to drink?"

"Just vodka," Malia answered innocently.

Ari walked closer. "Scott."

"What is it, Ari?" Scott asked.

"All these security guards, they're watching us," Ari answered. "Not the crowd. Us."

Scott looked at Malia. "Stay on your feet and keep moving."

Malia nearly fell.

Ari caught Malia, looking at Scott. "Is she actually drunk?"

"Yeah," Scott answered.

Scott and Ari helped Malia toward Mason, Natalie and Liam.

Inside - Hallway

Angel had come inside to the quiet, dark hallway to call Jordan. "Yeah. My price went up. So did yours, Tara and Natalie's."

Jordan was in the Sheriff's Station, sitting at his desk. "Yeah, well, Lydia, Adriana, Stiles and Stacie went to Eichen House to see what they could find out about this new list. I'm looking through the printouts of all the suicides on that list right now. Oh, my God."

"What?" Angel asked.

"They were all reported by Brunski, the head orderly," Jordan answered. "Angel, these aren't suicides."

Angel realized what he already knew. "They're murders."

"I have to go," Jordan told her.

Angel nodded. "Yeah."

They hung up.

Eichen House - Basement

Stiles, Adriana, Lydia and Stacie were restrained to two support beams.

Stiles and Lydia were restrained to one, back to back.

Adriana and Stacie were restrained to another, back to back.

The beams were close together, to where Lydia and Adriana were facing each other, only a small distance apart.

While Stiles, Lydia and Stacie were merely tied up, Adriana was chained up.

Lydia was screaming for help. "Help us! Help us!" Stiles grunted, trying to pull himself free. "Someone help!"

"Lydia, there's a lot of people screaming for help in a place like this," Stacie told her. "Trust me, I spent nearly four days here screaming for help. I don't think anyone's listening. I don't think anyone ever does."

"Well, we're both open to better ideas, Stacie," Adriana replied. "Because if you didn't notice, that bitch stabbed me with a dagger dipped in wolfsbane. The same species that Garrett and Violet used against Brett and Liam. It took my strength away."

"And if it reaches your heart..." Lydia trailed off.

"Then I'm as good as dead," Adriana finished. She sighed, looking up at the ceiling. "After all the horrible things I had done, I knew I would die. I just never thought it would be after I managed to find redemption."

"No," Stiles told her. "No, Adriana, you're not gonna die. Neither of you think like that."

"All those suicides were murders," Lydia told them.

"That's why she left you guys the message," Stacie told them.

"Stacie, she predicted her own death," Adriana told her.

They heard a door open.

"She knew we'd figure it out," Lydia told them.

"Once you were able to predict your own," Brunski finished, slamming the door closed, walking closer. All of them struggled. Lydia whimpered. Brunski walked closer, holding a radio in his hand. "But they weren't murders." He knelt between Lydia and Adriana. "I'm not some serial killer like Ted Bundy going around cutting up college girls."

"No, you're just an Angel of Death," Stiles told him sarcastically.

"I don't think you understand my level of commitment to my work here, Stiles," Brunski told him. "There are people here who don't simply need treatment. They need release. I helped them. I helped Lorraine."

"You killed her," Lydia whispered, in angry numb.

Brunski looked from Lydia to Adriana on either side of him. "I helped her."

Adriana's voice slowly got louder in anger. "You killed her!"

Brunski grabbed each side of Adriana's face, holding a needle up to her neck. "You'd be wise not to patronize me, Adriana. This needle is filled with even more of the wolfsbane I stabbed you with. That will only bring death so much closer." Adriana glared at him, remaining silent. "I helped your grandmother." He looked from Adriana to Lydia. "And now the two of you can help me. Because there is something about it that's always bothered me."

Brunski held out a mix tape in front of them.

It read "Lorraine Martin".

Brunski started to put it in the radio.

Lydia and Adriana looked at each other.

(Song:) Twerk - Heroes X Villains

Malia, Natalie and Liam were sitting on the bench.

Ari knelt in front of Malia, holding out a water bottle. "Malia?"

Malia took it, drinking slowly.

Scott knelt in front of Natalie and Liam, holding out water bottles to each of them. "Natalie."

Natalie drank hers.

Liam didn't move.

Mason walked closer.

Scott looked up to Mason. "How much have they had to drink?"

"Not enough to get them like this," Mason answered.

Ari looked around the party, standing. "Something's happening. We need to get them out of here."

"I think we're gonna have to, um..." Scott trailed off, looking down at his hand.

Ari felt a little winded herself, like she had drank, but she hadn't drank anything. She looked down at her hand. It blurred.

"How much did you two drink?" Mason asked.

Ari looked up. "Nothing."

Scott looked up, shaking his head. "Not even a sip."

Ari heard a buzzing, like an electronic pulsing, looking over the party, trying to pinpoint where it had come from.

The pulsing was like an ultrasonic emitter, it caused them pain and made them weak.

Ari looked at the DJ table. "It's not the drinks." She looked at Scott. "It's the music."

Scott and Ari looked at the DJ at the table.

While Brunski was forcing Lydia and Adriana to listen to the death of their grandmother, and with Adriana's hands chained behind her back, she was so upset and angry that she traced the double infinity sign tattoo without seeing it or realizing it.

On the tape, they could hear footsteps approaching.

Lorraine: (on tape)"What are you... Brunski, what are you doing?"

Brunski: (on tape)"Don't worry, Lorraine. It's going to be all right. You're just going to have a little trouble breathing."

Lydia and Adriana looked at each other, both of them looking the saddest they had been since Allison and Aiden had died, both with tears in their eyes.

"Lydia, look at me," Stacie told her. "Adriana, don't listen. Guys." She whispered the next words. "Okay, don't listen to it."

They could hear Lorraine breathing heavily.

Lydia looked up to keep the tears in her eyes.

"Just focus on my voice," Stiles told them. "On Stacie's voice. Don't listen to it, block it out. Okay?" He grunted, trying to pull free. "Guys?"

Adriana looked at Brunski angrily in sadness. "Turn it off!"

Brunski injected the needle into Adriana's neck, ready to discharge the rest of the wolfsbane into her body.

"No, don't!" Stacie told him.

Adriana sighed shakily. "Stace. Stace..."

"Stop!" Lydia screamed.

"Then listen," Brunski told them. "Just listen. I need your help with this, Adriana. Both of you."

Lorraine: (on tape)"Please don't..."

"Here it is," Brunski told them. "This is the part I never understood." He whispered the next word. "Listen."

Lorraine: (on tape)"Please don't hurt them."

Brunski: (on tape)"Hurt who?"

Lorraine: (on tape)"Ariel."

Lydia and Adriana knew that even though Lorraine only said one name, she meant all three of her granddaughters.

Lorraine was gasping on the tape. The breathing stopped.

Stiles glared forward.

Stacie tried to turn her head enough to see what was happening.

Lydia closed her eyes in pain, starting to cry.

Brunski still had the needle of wolfsbane in Adriana's neck.

Adriana glared at Brunski angrily, letting a tear fall.

(Song:) Rave Life (Original Mix) - Savant

Malia, Natalie and Liam were sitting on the bench weakly.

Scott, Ari and Mason stood next to them.

Scott and Ari looked at Mason, both heavily affected by the music now.

"We have to..." Ari trailed off. "We have to shut off the music."

Scott pointed at Malia, Natalie and Liam. "Don't let them out of your sight."

Mason nodded. "Okay."

Scott and Ari walked away, stumbling a little along the way, splitting up.

Scott walked toward the DJ table from the center.

Ari walked toward the DJ table from the side, looking at the cords, intent on unplugging both.

Their visions were blurred and almost slow.

The DJ saw them coming, turning the music louder, making them weaker.

Scott fell to his knees in the middle of the crowd.

Ari caught herself against the railing next to the electrical outlets, looking at the biggest one.

Two security guards grabbed each of Scott's arms, starting to pull him away.

"Wait..." Scott trailed off. "Stop."

Ari had both hands on the cord, about to pull it out.

Two security guards started to pull Ari away from it.

"No," Ari told them. "No, stop, wait..."

They pulled Ari away anyway.

Elsewhere

Malia, Natalie and Liam were sitting on the bench weakly.

Mason stood next to them.

Four security guards came to take them.

"Let's go," Guard 1 told them, starting to pull Natalie up by one arm.

Natalie couldn't even fight back.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Mason asked. "These are my friends."

Guard 2 pulled Malia's arm over his shoulders.

Guard 3 and Guard 4 grabbed Liam by each of his arms.

Guard 1 turned to Mason, putting a hand on his chest. "Your friends are overly intoxicated. They need to be escorted out."

"Okay, I'll go with them," Mason told them.

"That won't be necessary," Guard 1 told him, turning back to Natalie.

"I said they're my friends--" Mason started forcefully.

Guard 1 pushed him down to the ground.

Two guys went to help him up.

"You okay, man?" Guy 1 asked.

The security guards took Malia, Natalie and Liam away.

Inside - Hallway

The assassins dressed like security guards dragged Scott and Ari inside, placing them on the floor next to Natalie, Liam and Malia.

Guard/Assassin 1, the one that had taken Natalie, held a red can.

"What is that?" Scott asked. "What are you doing?"

Guard/Assassin 1 looked at the can. "It's gasoline." He looked at the wolves, smirking, stepping closer. "Haigh says we gotta burn you."

Guard/Assassin 1 took off the lid, letting it clatter against the floor, starting to splash the gasoline against all of them.

Another Hallway

Angel was inside the dark, deserted hallway, on the stairs, raising her legs and the skateboard above the railing, raising her arms to the air on either side of her like an actual angel or a creature with wings, skidding down the railing, reaching the end, jumping up, trailing the skateboard ahead, jumping through the air, almost as if taking flight, landing perfectly safely on the skateboard over the tiled floor. (slow motion)

Angel was still riding along.

Derek and Tara walked in.

Angel came to a stop, taking out her ear buds. "What now?"

"How would you like to be able to fight back, Angel?" Tara asked.

"Depends," Angel answered.

"On what?" Tara asked.

"On who we're fighting back against, and why you need me when you're two of the most badass Werewolves I know, Tara," Angel answered.

"We're fighting back against the professionals trying to kill your friends, and we need your help, because Derek here is starting to lose his power," Tara answered.

Angel looked at them in confusion.

Adriana and Stacie were restrained to another, back to back.

The beams were close together, to where Lydia and Adriana were facing each other, only a small distance apart.

While Stiles, Lydia and Stacie were merely tied up, Adriana was chained up.

The tape clicked as it ended.

Lydia still had her eyes closed.

Adriana still glared at Brunski.

Brunski still had the needle in her neck.

Adriana looked away, waiting for him to take it out.

Brunski took it out, looking down at it in his hands. He stabbed it into her neck again, making her gasp, ejecting it.

"No!" Lydia told him, struggling. "No, no, no!"

Stiles and Stacie struggled.

Stiles was angry.

Stacie and Lydia had tears in their eyes, sad and angry tears. "Adri..."

"Relax, Lydia," Brunski told her. "It'll take a little while for Adriana to... waste away. But it'll happen faster now than before."  Adriana glared at him. Brunki stood, backing away to the shelves. He grabbed the white box with a red cross on it. "As for you three... We have a lot of teenagers trying to break into our drug cabinets." He turned to face them. "Most of the time, they don't succeed." He knelt to the floor, opening it. "But you three..." He took out a needle, uncapping it. "Look pretty clever to me."

Brunski held up the drug bottle, sticking the needle inside, drawing it out.

Stiles, Lydia, Adriana and Stacie struggled, groaning.

Adriana had a bead of yellow wolfsbane on the corner of her mouth. Her eyes glowed completely purple. With her chains still binding her hands behind her back, she traced the double infinity sign tattoo on her wrist.

Inside - Hallway

The assassins/guards prepared to burn Scott, Ari, Natalie, Malia and Liam alive.

With the music off, Scott and Ari could see clearly again.

Ari let the irises of her eyes glow purple, gripping Guard/Assassin 1's hand, closing the lighter, squeezing his hand until it broke, making him groan in pain.

Derek, Tara and Angel walked into the hallway.

Angel used her skateboard to hit Guard/Assassin 1 in the head, making him fall unconscious.

Derek, Tara and Angel turned to the five guard/assassins down the hallway, walking toward them.

Two guard/assassins came after Tara, trying to punch her from either side. Tara raised both of her arms to block the moves, punching Guard/Assassin 2 in the stomach, punching Guard/Assassin 3 in the face, kicking Guard/Assassin 2 in the stomach.

Scott, Ari, Natalie, Liam and Malia started to sit up.

Guard/Assassin 4 punched Derek in the side, trying to punch him in the face. Derek raised his arm to block the move, grabbing Guard/Assassin 4 by the head, headbutting him, throwing him to the side into Guard/Assassin 5, making Guard/Assassin 5 fall. Derek turned to Guard/Assassin 4, pushing him against the lockers. Angel tossed Derek her skateboard. Derek caught it, using it to hit Guard/Assassin 4 in the head, making him fall unconscious, tossing the skateboard back to Angel.

Guard/Assassins 2 and 3 tried to attack Tara, trying to kick her. Tara ducked, kneeing Guard/Assassin 2 in the stomach, turning to grab him in a chokehold with his head underneath her arm, hitting his head against the wall, making him fall unconscious. Guard/Assassin 3 tried to punch her. Tara raised an arm to block the move, headbutting him in the nose, punching him in the face, making him turn away and fall to the floor, unconscious.

Guard/Assassin 5 stood turning to Angel, trying to punch her. Angel raised her skateboard above her head to block the move, turning it to the side to use the other side to hit him in the face. Guard/Assassin 5 drew a gun. angel spun to kick the gun out of his hands, punching him in the face, using her skateboard to hit him in the head enough to enough to knock him out.

Scott, Ari, Natalie, Liam and Malia had been watching the fight, breathing heavily in relief, impressed.

Angel looked down at the skateboard in her hands, smiling a little, impressed with herself, looking as if she had an adrenaline rush. (slow motion)

Tara and Derek walked closer to Scott, Ari, Natalie, Liam and Malia.

Ari looked at Tara and Angel. "Tara, Angel, how did you not get affected by the music?"

Tara pulled out her black ear buds, holding them up for them to see.

Ari smirked, looking at Angel.

Angel looked down at her white ones.

Tara looked back at Angel over her shoulder with a smirk. She looked at Scott. "Told you I didn't like electronic."

Scott smiled a small, surprised smile. "Tara..." He looked at Derek. "What happened to the gun?"

Derek made a face. "You're covered in gasoline."

Scott looked at Ari, Natalie, Liam and Malia. "Oh, yeah."

Angel helped Natalie up. "Hey, Natalie. You're welcome, Natalie."

Natalie smiled. "Yeah, thank you, Angel."

Tara offered her hands to Ari and Malia. Ari and Malia took her arms, letting her help them up.

Derek offered his hand to Scott. Scott took his arm, letting him help him up.

Natalie turned to Liam, helping him up.

They all smiled small, relieved smiles.

Brunski was still filling the needle, taking the bottle away, kneeling next to Stacie. "I'll admit it, Stacie. I don't have any unusual talents like Lydia." He flicked his fingers twice against the needle. "But somehow, I just knew we would gonna get a chance to do this again."

Brunski inhaled deeply, bringing the needle to Stacie's neck.

"No!" Stiles told him angrily, struggling. "No! Stacie! No! Stacie!"

Lydia screamed desperately. "No! Stacie!"

Adriana nearly pulled herself free, angry. "Stace. No! Stace!"

Jordan walked in, aiming his gun at Brunski. "Drop it." He walked closer. "Take your thumb off that needle and slowly withdraw it from her neck."

"Young Deputy," Brunski told him. "You're just a kid. I bet you've never even fired a--"

Jordan shot Brunski, making him fall to the floor.

Lydia gasped.

Stacie breathed heavily in relief.

Jordan walked around Brunski, still aiming the gun at him, untying to Lydia.

Lydia crawled closer to Brunski's body, taking his keys. "We have to get Adriana to Deaton as soon as we possibly can. He knows how to save Adri."

Jordan got Stiles free.

Lydia flipped through the keys, grabbing the black one that looked ancient, turning to Adriana, unlocking the chains, freeing her, one arm by one. As soon as the chains hit the floor, Lydia pulled Adriana to her chest.

They all looked at Jordan.

Stiles untied Stacie, pulling her into his chest. Stacie returned the embrace just as tightly.

"He... he killed our grandmother," Adriana told them.

"He was controlling Meredith," Stacie told them.

"He used her to create the dead pool," Stiles agreed.

Adriana looked at Brunski. She looked at Jordan. "And killed her when she tried to help us."

Jordan stood over Brunski.

Brunski coughed, gagging, spitting out blood over his face. He laughed weakly. "You... you think it was me?" He breathed heavily, whispering the next words. "That I was controlling her?" He laughed, a tear of blood slipping down the side of his face. "Idiots. She was controlling me."

Brunski looked to the side, taking his last breath, dying.

Lydia looked up in realization. "Oh, God. It's not him. He's not The Benefactor."

They heard a woman's voice. "No." They looked toward where a woman was standing behind the shelf, hidden. "And... he wasn't on my list." Meredith stepped into view. The others were in complete shock and surprise and denial. "But he was a bad person."

Meredith had faked her death so they wouldn't realize that she was the Benefactor.
