chapter 8 - Time of Death
Outfits in the external link
From 4.07 "Weaponized", in the girls' locker room, Adriana was still fully clothed, letting the shower water pour over her, leaning against the wall in front of her, drenching her over-heating skin with the ice cold water. She looked up at the wall, completely drenched, trying to cool down, trying to calm down. She could barely breathe. She felt like she was going to lose control. She was feeling like she was sick. Or dying. She had her canines out, growling quietly.
Derek: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Teen Wolf)"
From 4.07 "Weaponized", in Scott's room, Natalie walked into the room.
Scott, Stiles and Stacie were still sitting on the floor next to the radio that was playing the tape and the money from Garrett's bag.
Man: (on tape) "Visual confirmation is always required for payment."
From 4.06 "Orphaned", in Meredith's room at Eichen House, Meredith was lying on the floor with a noose around her neck.
Brunski untied the noose.
Jordan: (voice over from 4.06 Orphaned) "Lydia, Meredith's gone. She hung herself."
From 4.07 "Weaponized", in the study of the Martin Lake House, Lydia showed Ari the picture. "This picture of Meredith was taken in this same room."
Ari took the picture, seeing that the black and white image showed the edge of the record player, the wall outlet, and the sconces inside the study in the Martin Lake House. She stood in shock.
From 4.07 "Weaponized", in the boys' locker room, the Chemist aimed the gun at Stacie's head, preparing to pull the trigger.
"No!" Stiles told him angrily, pushing the gun down as the shot fired.
The bullet shot into Stacie's stomach.
Stacie was in shock, holding her stomach, drifting into a fall.
The Chemist pushed Stiles to the floor, aiming the gun at Stacie's head.
Another gun sounded, but this one came from a different gun.
Blood spattered over Stacie.
The Chemist was dead, falling.
Stiles crawled toward Stacie, holding a hand over her stomach.
The one who had shot the Chemist walked closer in a yellow hazmat suit, taking off the mask, revealing it was Sheriff, kneeling in front Stacie and Stiles worriedly.
From 4.07 "Weaponized", in the hospital hallway, the blonde assassin raised her gun, shooting.
Derek ducked under the bullets, but he still got shot in the stomach, falling to the floor.
From 3.19 "Letharia Vulpina", in Adriana's car, Adriana was in the driver's seat.
Lydia was in the passenger seat.
Allison and Natalie were in the backseat.
Adriana held out her phone to show them the picture of Peter.
Lydia held her phone next to Adriana to show Malia's picture next to Peter.
"Peter and Malia?" Allison asked.
"Father and daughter," Natalie answered.
From 4.02 "200", outside the school, Scott and Stiles were walking together.
"I mean, you haven't told Tara that Malia is Peter's daughter, have you?" Stiles asked. "That Malia is Tara's cousin? And Derek's, for that matter."
From 4.07 "Weaponized", in the Hale Vault, Scott and Adriana stood by the door, listening to the sounds outside.
Stacie and Stiles were standing next to them.
"We need to tell her the truth about Peter," Scott whispered. "She's going to see the rest of the dead pool eventually. So is Tara. I mean, we have no idea if she and Derek even know that Peter ever had a daughter."
From 4.07 "Weaonized", in the Hale Vault, Stiles walked closer to Malia, kneeling in front of her. "Hey, you all right?" Malia didn't respond. "Malia." Stiles put a hand on her shoulder. "Malia."
Malia instinctively grabbed Stiles' wrist, looking at him coldly in betrayal, pushing his hand away, reaching for the paper on the floor, standing, walking toward Scott and Tara. She pushed the paper to Tara's chest.
Tara grabbed the paper in confusion, watching Malia walk past her.
Malia walked out of the exit of the vault that led into the school basement without another look or word.
Tara looked down at the last third of the dead pool. She let Scott go, taking a step away, turning away, looking at the name 'Malia Hale' on the list. She realized that Malia was Peter's daughter, her and Derek's cousin. She looked up numbly, folding the paper.
Scott looked at her in regret and sorrow. "Tara..."
Tara looked over her shoulder to look at Scott coldly in betrayal, crumpling the list in her hand, letting it go, letting it fall slowly to the floor.
Scott looked as if he wanted to apologize, but couldn't find the words to say.
Tara looked away, walking toward the stairs that led to the main entrance of the vault, without another look or word.
Scott watched Tara walk up the stairs without turning back.

Stiles' Dream
Night - Stilinski House - Stiles' Dream
Stiles was alone in bed, tossing and turning, but he couldn't get to sleep.
Suddenly, Malia was there with him.
(Song:) Who Will Love Me - Jerome Holloway
Stiles sighed.
Malia turned to look at him tiredly. "What?"
"I always sleep in the middle of the bed," Stiles answered.
Malia looked away. "Not anymore."
"I know," Stiles told her. "I'm trying." Malia laid her head on his chest for a moment. Stiles was uncomfortable, sitting up. "Yeah, I can't get to sleep unless I'm in the middle."
"Then we spoon," Malia told him.
"I can spoon," Stiles told her, laying down. "Okay, I can spoon."
Stiles took the 'big spoon' position behind Malia. His arm began to fall asleep. He moved it around to wake it up.
"What now?" Malia asked.
"My arm's falling asleep," Stiles answered. They turned back to back. "Well, I don't like this."
"I'm going to kill you," Malia told him.
"I know, I know," Stiles told her. "I'm sorry."
Malia turned to face him. "Okay. Just come here."
Malia finally settled it by taking the 'big spoon' position behind Stiles.
"I think this is good," Stiles told her. "Yeah, this is good."

Day One
Morning - Stilinski House - Stiles' Room
Stiles woke in his bed to find himself alone.
Sheriff walked in, knocking. "Come on, buddy. We gotta get Stacie from the hospital."
Stiles nodded.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Sheriff's Station - Sheriff's Station
Sheriff was sitting at his desk, unloading his gun.
Stiles and Stacie were sitting across from him.
Stacie was bandaged from the gunshot wound in her stomach from the Chemist.
Sheriff took out the clip of his gun, putting the bullets in an evidence bag. His phone beeped. He started recording. "Preliminary notes on fire arm discharge incident. Assailant armed with a sound suppressor altered PD 88."
¤•¤°¤•¤
Flashback - 4.07 "Weaponized"
Night - Beacon Hills High School - Boys' Locker Room
Stiles stood in front of Stacie, between her and the gun.
The Chemist aimed the gun at Stacie's head.
"No!" Stiles told him angrily, pushing the gun down as the shot fired.
The bullet shot into Stacie's stomach.
Stacie was in shock, holding her stomach, drifting into a fall.
Sheriff: (voice over) "Having heard the perpetrator's threat and countdown, I made visual confirmation of the perp shooting the victim, nearly killing her."
The Chemist pushed Stiles to the floor, aiming the gun at Stacie's head.
Stacie closed her eyes, looking away so that she wouldn't have to see death come.
Another gun sounded, but this one came from a different gun.
Blood splattered over Stacie.
Stacie looked up, seeing a bullet hole in the Chemist's head.
The Chemist was dead, falling.
Stiles crawled toward Stacie.
Sheriff walked closer, taking off the mask of the hazmat suit, kneeling in front of Stacie and Stiles worriedly.
Sheriff: (voice over)"Determining the danger to be imminent, I felt no choice but to respond with the use of deadly force."
¤•¤°¤•¤
Now
Day - Sheriff's Station - Sheriff's Office
Sheriff stopped the recording, looking at Stiles and Stacie across the desk from him. "Thanks for waiting."
"It's okay," Stacie told him.
Sheriff tilted his head at her. "Stacie."
"Dad, seriously, I'm fine," Stacie told him. "It hurts like hell, but I'm gonna be fine."
"Well, unfortunately, I'm going to have to drive back to San Francisco today," Sheriff told them. "I'll be back as soon as I can."
"It's no big deal," Stile told him.
"It is to me," Sheriff told them. He looked at the evidence bag. "What I did, it was necessary. Justifiable. You both know that, right?"
"Have you ever done it before?" Stacie asked.
"Two other times," Sheriff answered. "It's not easy, taking a man's life. Even if someone forces you to do it."
"How do you deal with it?" Stiles asked.
"When you look at it logically," Sheriff answered. "Without emotion. You compartmentalize." He stood, walking toward them, looking at Stiles. "I know that you and the others are gonna be trying this new plan." He looked at Stacie. "Stacie, I don't want you having any part of any plan until you heal up. But I don't want you to be alone, either."
"Then where is Stacie supposed to go?" Stiles asked.
Stacie tilted her head, shrugging. "I'm pretty sure that the guy that's been teaching me how to fight is free to be a bodyguard until I'm healed enough to defend myself again." Sheriff and Stiles gave her a look. Stacie looked at them innocently. "What? I don't see you two coming up with any better ideas. Derek can protect me. I promise."
Sheriff sighed, giving in, gesturing for them to get up. "Come here."
Stiles and Stacie stood. They embraced their father, knowing that they all needed a hug after what had happened to them in 4.07 Weaponized.

McCall House - Kitchen
Scott, Stiles, Natalie, Kira, Angel and Liam were setting up three laptops on the kitchen table.
"Is three enough?" Kira asked.
"It depends how many cameras they have," Stiles answered. "I think so."
"Are we really doing this, Natalie?" Liam asked.
"We're doing this," Natalie told them. "Tonight."
"Isn't it kind of dangerous?" Liam asked.
"Yeah, it's incredibly dangerous," Stiles answered. "And borderline idiotic."
"You guys done something like this before?" Liam asked.
"Something dangerous or something idiotic?" Angel asked.
"I think it's a 'yes' to both," Natalie told him.
Scott looked at Liam. "You don't have to be apart of it if you don't want to."
"I'm not scared," Liam told them.
Stiles put a hand on his shoulder. "Well, then you're borderline idiotic." He looked at Scott. "If we do this, we don't know what's coming for us, you know that, right?"
"How do we even know something's definitely coming?" Kira asked.
"Because the tape from Garrett's bag said 'visual confirmation required'," Natalie answered.
"Simon said the same thing," Stiles told them. "He couldn't get paid by the Benefactor until he had proof that you guys were dead."
"So the idea is..." Scott trailed off. "'What if you kill someone on the dead pool, but you can't send the proof?'"
"You don't get paid," Angel answered the rhetorical question.
"How does that get us any closer to the Benefactor?" Liam asked.
"He still needs to know if the target is really dead," Scott answered.
"Especially if it's someone high on the list," Natalie told them.
"So, if he wants visual confirmation..." Liam trailed off.
Angel smirked. "He's gonna have to come and get it himself."

Night - Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital - Outside
An unseen patient was brought by ambulance to the hospital.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Emergency Room
The unseen patient was brought in.
Man: (on PA) "Dr. Martin to the ER."
Macey walked into the ER, running to the paramedics that were bringing in the unseen patient. "Get him to trauma 2. Start another IV."
¤•¤°¤•¤
Trauma 2
Macey was leading a team of doctors to bring the patient back to life. "Clear! Still asystole. Continue chest compressions and charge to 360. Come on, come on, come on. Clear!" They shocked the patient once against with the defibrillators. "Nothing. Still asystole." Macey looked down, looking effected and devastated. "I'm calling it. Time of death, 2102 hours." (9:02 PM) Macey had to take a moment to herself. "Would someone please page Melissa McCall?"
Scott was lying on the bed in front of them, seemingly dead.
¤•¤°¤•¤
There was a black wolf with red eyes.
Scott looked up. He blinked. When he opened his eyes, they were glowing red.
Scott stood alone in a cloud of dust or smoke, hitting the ground. Tyler Posey.
Stiles stood at a translucent crime board, adding a few things. Dylan O'Brien.
There was a hand held high with a claw on each finger.
Stacie looked straight ahead, holding a crossbow in hand, holding it pointing up in front of her face, looking straight ahead. Zoey Deutch.
Ari and Adriana stood back to back. Ari looked to the left, holding her motorcycle helmet in her hands, the irises of her eyes glowing blue. Adriana looked to the right, tracing her double infinity tattoo on her wrist, her eyes glowing completely purple. There was water sprinkles everywhere as they both looked up. Katherine McNamara.
Scott and Tara kissed passionately, pulling away.
Tara stood with her back toward you, looking over her shoulder, black blood covering her skin, her body reflecting each other. Victoria Justice.
On the back of Tara's hand, a triskele appeared. The spirals were black. The tip of one spiral was Beta blue. The tip of one spiral was Beta gold. The tip of one spiral was Alpha red. The intersection point was purple.
Derek looked up, shirtless, his eyes closed, shifted, roaring. Dust was falling off of his body. Tyler Hoechlin.
On Derek's back, a triskele appeared.
Lydia's hair covered her face, her hands held in front of her. She tossed her head back to get it to fall behind her. Holland Roden.
Natalie sat in a chair, half turned, her left leg to the left side of the chair, her right leg in front of it, her left arm lying on the back of the chair. Her eyes glowed gold. Sasha Pieterse.
A double infinity sign tattoo appeared on Adriana's wrist.
A black wolf howled.
Malia was in the woods, her arms raised at her sides. Shelley Hennig.
Kira was in a fighting stance, holding her katana sword raised ready. Arden Cho.
Angel stood within fire, water and electricity, air blowing through her hair. She had her arms raised to her sides as if taking flight. Her eyes were glowing a dark, fiery gold. Ginny Gardner.
On Scott's arm, two bands appeared, the top band thicker than the other.
The black blood pulled away from Tara's body, almost as it was never there.
Scott stared ahead. His eyes glowed red. He tilted his head toward his chest.

Hale Loft Building - Outside
Tara was outside, leaning against the railing of the miniature bridge leading up to the door. She sensed someone behind her. "What the hell do you want? I'm not in the mood."
Peter walked close, pacing tauntingly behind her. "Yes, I've heard, Tara. So the truth about a cousin you never knew about is finally out, and Scott has lied to you, and betrayed you... Again."
"Is there a point to you being here?" Tara asked.
"Can't I just have a nice, sweet moment with my niece?" Peter asked with feigned innocence.
Tara slowly turned to face him, leaning on the railing behind her. "The only nice, sweet moment with any of your nieces you've ever had was when you saved my life from the fire. The only time. Any other time, you tried to kill us, or tried to talk other people into doing it. So, what the hell do you want?"
"Poor, mistreated Tara," Peter told her tauntingly, pacing around her. Tara pushed away from the railing, starting to circle around in the other direction. "Is there not one way you've never been hurt? Namely by him, the one and only boy you've ever fallen for. And he's betrayed you, not once, but twice. How does that make you feel? Angry? Hurt? Rage?"
"I can name a couple of the emotions you bring out of me," Tara told him.
They stopped circling each other.
"That may be a topic to talk about another time," Peter told her, facing away from Tara with a smirk. "Maybe you'd like to talk about it. Maybe see a couple's counselor."
Peter turned to face Tara.
Tara pushed Peter against the railing behind him. "I don't know what you're up to or what you're trying to manipulate me into doing, but I'll tell you one thing. I'm gonna find out what it is."
Tara let him go.
Peter smirked, standing straight, chuckling.
Tara walked away, leaving.

Hale Loft - Living Room
(Song:) A Quiet Darkness - Houses
Stacie was sleeping on the couch, waking up from bad dreams. She looked around the dark loft, seeing the wall of windows behind her. She touched lightly on her stomach, where she had been shot. She looked toward where Derek was sleeping on the other coach, seeing a small spot of blood on his white shirt over the spot where he had been shot, frowning in confusion. She stood, walking closer, kneeling next to the couch, looking up to his sleeping face, hesitantly pulling up his shirt, seeing that he still had a bullet wound in his stomach, frowning in confusion.
Derek suddenly grabbed her wrist, making Stacie jump and close her eyes.
Stacie looked up to him.
"Jumpy?" Derek asked.
"Two assassins have tried to kill me within four days," Stacie told him. "Yeah, I'd say so."
"Which is why your father said he wants you to stay here until he finishes talking to whoever, Stacie," Derek told her. He looked down at her hand still gripping his shirt and his hand still gripping her wrist. His voice was curious. "What are you doing?"
"Looking at the twin wound to mine," Stacie told him sarcastically, looking down at her side.
Derek nodded. "Hmm."
Stacie gave Derek a look. "Why aren't you healing?"
"Some wounds take longer," Derek told her.
"And some leave scars," Stacie told him. "But not for people like you. So what's going on?"
"Maybe I'm just tired," Derek told her. "I'm going back to sleep. Which is what you should be doing, Stacie."
Derek turned over, facing away from her.
"Derek," Stacie told him, tilting her head. "Show me your eyes."
"Stacie," Derek told her. "You just saw them."
"Show me your real eyes," Stacie told him. Derek turned over on his back, looking up. He sighed, looking at Stacie. Stacie sighed. "Okay. Now why don't you tell me what's really going on?"

Flashback - Earlier That Night
McCall House - Scott's Room
Scott was laying in bed, looking from Kira on one side of it to Noshiko on the other to Angel, Liam and Natalie standing by the door.
Liam was pacing. "Are you guys totally sure about this?"
"I think Liam's kind of nervous," Natalie told them, nervous herself. "Maybe you should tell him it's gonna be all right."
Scott knew the real reason she asked, looking at Natalie. "It's gonna be all right, Natalie."
Angel looked at Noshiko. "So you've done this before, right?"
"I've seen it done," Noshiko told them.
"Is that just as good?" Angel asked.
"No, Angel," Noshiko answered.
"Mom, you're not inspiring confidence," Kira told her.
"Good," Noshiko told them. "This is a terrible idea."
"Do you want us to do it without you?" Kira asked.
Noshiko tilted her head.
Liam looked from Kira to Noshiko.
Scott looked at Noshiko.
Finally, Noshiko put her hand above Scott, looking at Kira. "Put your hand over his heart."
Kira nodded, looking at Scott. She was about to put her hand on his chest above his heart.
Scott caught her wrist, sitting up. "Hold on." He looked at Noshiko. "What happens while I'm out? Am I gonna feel anything?"
"It might feel like you're dreaming," Noshiko answered.
"Good dreams or bad?" Scott asked.
"I suppose that depends on you," Noshiko told him.
Scott laid back down.
Noshiko nodded to Kira.
Kira hesitated.
Liam noticed that Natalie was a little shaken. "Natalie? It's gonna be okay, Natalie.""
Natalie's hand was shaking. Liam looked down, taking her hand in his to calm her down. Natalie looked at him with a small, barely noticeable, thankful smile. They both looked back at Kira, Scott and Noshiko.
Kira put her hand above Scott's heart, making electricity crackle through his body, slowly shutting it down temporarily.
Scott gasped loudly, looking up in pain.

Melissa wiped her tears away. "I still hate this plan." Scott was lying on one table. Liam, Natalie and Angel stood on one side of the table. Noshiko, Kira and Stiles stood on the other. "I mean, this is pretty significantly terrifying. He looks dead."
"Give me your hand," Noshiko told her.
Melissa looked at Macey.
Macey nodded. "It's okay."
Melissa gave Noshiko her hand.
Noshiko put Melissa's hand on Scott's chest. "Wait for it."
Melissa could feel his heartbeat. "Is that enough to keep a Werewolf alive?"
"Enough for an Alpha," Noshiko answered.
"How much time do we have?" Melissa asked.
"45 minutes," Noshiko answered.
"What happens after that?" Melissa asked.
"I bring him back the same way," Kira answered.
"No, I mean, what happens if he stays like this longer than 45 minutes," Melissa told them.
"No one's told her?" Noshiko asked.
No one answered.
Natalie looked down.
"What?" Melissa asked. "What happens after 45 minutes?"
"He dies," Noshiko answered.
Melissa looked from Stiles to Natalie to Macey to Noshiko to Scott's body.

Hospital Room
Stiles, Chris and Macey stood together at Garrett's laptop to contact the Benefactor to lure him to them.
Chris typed in:
Garrett: Scott McCall dead. Payment requested.
"That's your assassin speak?" Stiles asked.
Macey looked at him. "He said he's dead. What more do you want?"
"Well, it was a little dry," Stiles told her. He looked at Chris. "You could've said something like, 'Target has been neutralized.' You know? 'The crow flies at midnight.' That's always cool."
Macey nodded. "Hmm."
The computer beeped, making them look at it.
The Benefactor: Visual confirmation is required.
Stiles started to reach for the keyboard as if to start to type. He stopped, looking at Chris and Macey, pulling back, gesturing for one of them to go ahead.
Chris looked at Macey. "Type this." Macey put her fingers on the keyboard, ready to type when ready. "'Visual confirmation isn't possible. Police coming to claim body in forty minutes.'"
Macey sent it.
The Benefactor: Visual confirmation is required for payment.
Chris looked at Macey. "Tell him, 'Number one on the list is dead. I killed him. And if the wire transfer isn't completed in forty minutes'..."
Chris finished typing himself: I'm coming after you.

(Song:) Gold - Chet Faker
Derek was shirtless.
Stacie was standing in front of him, bandaging his gunshot wound. "You got luckier than I did. It's just a graze. But make sure it doesn't get infected." Derek grabbed his shirt from the table. Stacie walked around him. "That's probably something that you've never had to worry about before. Is it?" Derek shook his head, pulling his shirt on. "So it's everything, then? No glowing eyes? No healing?"
"Smell, hearing, speed," Derek told her. "Everything, Stacie."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Stacie asked.
"Stacie, I didn't want you to worry," Derek answered.
Stacie looked down. "You tell Tara?"
"No," Derek answered. "A lot of people haven't been telling Tara a lot of things."
Stacie looked up, pointing at him. "Hey, I told you about Malia, and I told you about your name breaking the last third of the list."
"I know," Derek told her. "Thank you, Stacie."
"Something I'm guessing you also didn't tell Tara about," Stacie told him. Derek sighed. Stacie changed the subject back to him. "What about your strength?"
"I can still win a fight," Derek told her. "Stacie, you know that."
"What I know is that you've been holding back when you're training me to fight," Stacie replied.
Derek raised his eyebrows. "You still cheat by using your weapons."
"It's not cheating if it keeps me alive," Stacie told him.
"That's still cheating, Stacie," Derek told her.
"Whatever, okay?" Stacie asked. "I can work better with a gun than a knife. I can also work better when the opponent doesn't have a thermo-cut wire or a virus that makes me sick and unable to stand or weak enough that I can't fight back. Let's see what you can do better at."
Stacie put her elbow on the table, raising her hand, waiting for him to take the challenge of the arm wrestle.
Derek chuckled. "Only you, Stacie."
"You gonna take the challenge or not?" Stacie asked. Derek raised his eyebrows, tilting his head, sighing, putting his elbow on the table, taking her hand. "You ready?"
"Mm-hmm," Derek answered.
"One," Stacie told him. "Two..."
Stacie used her other hand to hit his elbow off the table, pushing his hand onto the table.
Derek groaned. "You cheated. Again. Stacie, that's still cheating."
"I still won," Stacie replied. "Again. When you're a human facing off against the supernatural, you need to bend the rules a little bit. I'm gonna teach you how to bend."
Stacie leaned against the table again.
Derek sighed, tilting his head.

Scott emerged from a locker in the darkened hallway.
He heard Tara's voice. "Catch!" A lacrosse ball was thrown at Scott. Scott caught it, looking toward Tara. "That's why you're team captain. But do you know why you're the Alpha?"
Tara turned around, walking away down the hall.
Scott followed her in confusion. "Tara."
Tara stopped next to an open classroom door, looking over her shoulder toward Scott, walking into the classroom.
Scott dropped the lacrosse ball to the floor, following her.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Classroom
Scott walked into the classroom, looking around, but he didn't see Tara.
There was a laptop open on the teacher's desk.
On the screen, the Benefactor's code scrolled to a stop. The "Keyword" prompt flashed.
Scott typed in his own name, hitting enter.
The list uncoded into a list of the assassins.
The Mute
The Orphans
The Chemist
Scott thought that the dream was telling him to take this list as his own dead pool. "I can't do that. I can't kill them."
Tara appeared next to Scott. "Someone has to."
"Why me?" Scott asked.
"Because you're the Alpha," Tara told him.
"I'm not a murderer," Scott told her.
"But you are a predator," Tara countered.
Scott shook his head. "No. You and Derek both told me to this and Ari before. We're predators. But we don't have to..." Tara looked at him curiously, tilting her head. "We don't have to..."
Tara stood behind Scott, whispering into his ear. "To be killers?" She backed away, looking at him coldly. "You killed me."
Scott shook his head, starting to breathe heavily, slamming the computer closed.
Tara gasped in pain.
Scott turned to face her in confusion.
Tara was on the floor.
The Mute removed his tomahawk from Tara's back.
"Tara?" Scott asked.
Tara reached a hand toward Scott pleadingly. "Scott." The Mute placed a finger over where his mouth should have been. "Scott, please. Scott, help me!"
The Mute swung his tomahawk down on Tara.
Scott was in shock, not knowing how to stop it. "Tara!"

Alley
Tara was walking down the alley alone, isolating herself from the others. Her phone rang. She pulled it out, seeing that it was Derek calling, hanging up in annoyance, throwing her phone into the brick wall to her left, making the phone shatter and fall to the ground. She walked along for a few more seconds. She sensed someone following her, slowing to a stop. "I'm not really in the mood to fight with you and the Berserkers."
Kate and the Berserkers approached Tara from behind.
"Someone's angry all over again," Kate told her. "Is that something to do with the pack trying to kill Scott to lure out the Benefactor?"
Tara turned to face her, in confused suspicion. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"Oh, someone's left out in the dark, Tara," Kate told her tauntingly. The Berserkers stood on either side of her. "Again."
Tara took a deep breath to steady herself for a fight. She spun to kick Kate back into the brick wall behind her, making her fall to the ground. She slashed toward Beserker 1, kicking Berserker 2. Berserker 1 slashed toward her. Tara ducked. Berserker 2 slashed toward her. Tara flipped over its arm to make it miss. Berserker 1 caught Tara midair, pushing her into the brick wall behind her, making her fall.
Tara glared up toward Kate and the Berserkers. "What do you want?"
Kate knelt in front of Tara. "To use you as bait."
Tara grabbed Kate by the head, standing, spinning around, pulling her up, throwing her toward the Berserkers, making her fall. She wasn't going down without a fight.

Outside - Noshiko's Car
Noshiko was sitting in the driver's seat.
Macey was sitting in the passenger seat.
Melissa was sitting in the backseat.
They were looking for someone who looked suspicious enough to be The Benefactor.
Noshiko pointed at a man in the review mirror. "What about him?"
"No," Macey answered. "No, he's in here every week with a new self-diagnosis."
"Hypocondriac?" Noshiko asked.
"Prescription drug addict," Macey answered.
Melissa looked at the timer on her phone. She looked at them. "Why are we doing this? Why are we asking them to fight these kinds of fights?"
"Because otherwise we'd be asking them to run and hide," Noshiko answered.
Melissa looked away, sighing.

Inside - Hospital Room
Stiles, Natalie, Liam, Kira and Angel were standing at the three computers.
One of the monitors pixelated.
"Hey," Angel told them, pointing at it. "Is that supposed to look like that?"
The monitor turned completely gray.
"No, no, it's not," Stiles answered.
"Where is that?" Natalie asked.
"It's the roof," Kira answered. "Somebody's gonna have to check it out."
"I'll go," Natalie told them, turning to leave.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Natalie," Stiles told her. "Natalie, wait." Natalie stopped, turning back. "This might not be just a malfunction."
Natalie showed them the claws on her fingers, letting her eyes glow gold. "That's why I'm bringing these."
"Natalie, I'm coming with you," Liam told her.
Liam and Natalie walked toward the door.
"Okay, and you're both coming right back," Angel told them. "Immediately." Liam and Natalie walked out, leaving. "Natalie. Liam. Natalie?" They didn't answer, already gone. Angel sighed. "Kids."

Malia stood at the safe.
Peter walked closer, looking at the file in her hands. "I can't let you leave here with that."
"Maybe you won't have a choice," Malia told him.
"Is that right?" Peter asked.
"I think I could take you," Malia told him.
Peter smirked, nodding. "You've heard rumors I'm not as strong as I used to be."
"Something like that," Malia answered.
Peter punched one of the stone support beams, making a chunk break off at the point of impact, proving the rumors wrong.
Malia was surprised and nervous, holding the file toward him without a fight.
"I said you can't leave with it," Peter told her. "I didn't say you couldn't read it."

Martin Lake House - Boathouse
Lydia, Adriana and Ari were in the boathouse at the lake house.
Ari had a lantern to light the way.
Adriana walked closer to Lydia.
Lydia was looking at the picture of Meredith.
"You sure you should be here?" Ari asked.
"I'm not leaving until I have an answer to why Meredith was in our family lake house, Ari," Lydia replied, putting the picture down. She looked at them. "And, you know, Adriana, you guys don't have to come down here with me."
"We're severely worried about you and your name's on a supernatural hitlist and you shouldn't be out here alone, so, yes, we do," Adriana replied. She tilted her head when they heard the floorboards creaking behind them. Adriana, Lydia and Ari turned around defensively. Adriana raised her arm to fight when they realized it was just Nicole. They gasped. "Aunt Nicole!"
"What are you doing?" Lydia asked.
"What are you three doing, Adriana?" Nicole replied.
Adriana let her arm fall to her side. "Nothing. How did you know we were here? Did you follow us?"
"No, I'm getting ready for the open house... tomorrow," Nicole told them.
"The open house is next week," Ari told her.
"Okay, Ari, I followed you," Nicole told her. "Ari, Adriana, Lydia, all three of you come up here every weekend. Sometimes even during the week. And as far as I can tell, there aren't any boys involved, so I really have no clue what the three of you are up to."
"We're trying to figure something out," Adriana answered. "Something important."
"And, honestly, Mom, you don't need to be involved in every single detail of your daughter's or your nieces' lives," Lydia told her.
"No, but I'd like to help if I can," Nicole told them.
Ari sighed, handing her the picture. "Do you know her?"
Nicole looked up with recognition and confusion. "Meredith Walker?"
Adriana, Lydia and Ari exchanged a look.

Scott was examining his teeth in the mirror.
"There's something different, isn't there?" Tara asked.
"I've got more fangs," Scott told her. "I noticed it during the quarantine. I don't know why."
"You think it could be part of being an Alpha," Tara told him. "Like you're becoming more of a Werewolf."
"Or more of a monster," Scott told her.
"What if it makes you stronger?" Tara asked. "Like you're growing?"
Scott looked into the reflection of the mirror to see the Mute appear behind Tara and slash his tomahawk into her back, horrified.
The Mute spoke with an electronic voice. "Evolving."
Tara started to fall.
Scott turned to face her, catching Tara in his arms, looking at the tomahawk in her back. He looked at the Mute, glaring.
The Mute placed a finger over where his mouth should have been.

Hale Loft - Living Room
Stacie put a gun on the table between her and Derek.
"You actually keep this thing on you at all times, don't you, Stacie?" Derek asked.
"Whenever I can, yeah," Stacie answered. "Obviously, I can't have it in school, or the two assassins who tried to kill me at the school wouldn't have gotten even close. This is a six hour P2 26 0.9 milliliter."
"I don't like guns," Derek told her.
"That's because you never learned to use one," Stacie told him.
"Or because I've been shot," Derek told her. "Repeatedly."
"You'll like this one," Stacie told him, picking up the gun, taking out the clip. "The legal clip size in California is 10. You always wanna remember how many shots you fire. Running out of bullets can get you killed." She pointed at him with the clip. "It also makes you look stupid."
Stacie put the clip back in, putting the safety on.
"So you're teaching me all the stuff you learned from Allison?" Derek asked.
"I'm teaching you all the stuff I learned from Allison and my dad," Stacie answered. "In case you forgot, my dad's still the Sheriff."
"Oh, I didn't forget, Stacie," Derek told her. "So, the student becomes the teacher." Stacie smiled. "And you're showing me how to point and shoot? I've seen you do it plenty of times, I'm pretty sure I can pick it up pretty easily."
(Song:) Touch - Daughter
"No," Stacie answered, handing him the gun. "Using a gun isn't just learning how to point and shoot."
"Why is that?" Derek asked.
"Because an average person can move 21 feet in 1.5 seconds," Stacie answered. "If they have a knife, they can gut you before you can pull and fire. So with a gun, you need distance." She slowly walked closer to the windows, turning to face him. "Go for it. Pull the gun on me."
"Stacie, shouldn't you be resting?" Derek asked.
"I was shot, not killed," Stacie told him. "Pull the gun on me. Unless what you're really trying to say is that you think you can't do it."
Derek raised his eyebrows at the taunt.
Stacie smiled.
Derek smirked, looking down. He sighed, looking up, pulling the gun on Stacie.
Stacie caught his wrist, turning it over, making it point at him, taking it.
"Ow," Derek told her.
Stacie smiled, pretending to shoot. "You're dead."
Derek pointed at the gun in her hand. "So... yeah."
Stacie held the gun toward him, smiling. "Wanna try again?"
"Mm-hmm," Derek answered, taking the gun, cleared his throat, pulling the gun on Stacie.
Stacie caught his wrist, turning it over, making it point at him, taking it, aiming it at him. "You're dead. Again."
Derek sighed. "One more time."
Stacie smiled, biting her lip slightly. "I can do this all day."
Derek stepped closer, nodding sarcastically. "Mm-hmm." Stacie and Derek looked at each other for a long moment. Derek put a hand on her cheek, kissing her, surprising her, using the other hand to take the gun from her, pointing it at her, pulling away, smirking smugly, whispering. "You're dead."
"You cheated," Stacie whispered.
"I'm learning to bend," Derek replied.
Stacie and Derek looked at each other, smiling. They kissed passionately. Stacie wrapped her arms around his neck, placing a hand on the back of his head to pull him closer. Derek lifted her up so she could wrap her legs around his waist. Derek turned around, still entangled in the kiss, walking closer to the table, putting the gun down next to the rest, placing Stacie on the table. They pulled away. Stacie pulled his shirt over his head, putting it on the weapons, looking over his shirtless form. Derek lifted her shirt away, placing it down on his. They both looked at the bandages on either of their gunshot wounds, looking at each other for a moment longer, continuing to kiss.

The other Berserker threw Tara into the wall, breaking off a piece of plaster, making her fall.
Tara had blood matting her hair to her head on the side of her forehead. She had slashes in her cheeks and chin that were trying to heal. Her clothes were slashed all to hell. She spit out blood on the floor. She still wasn't giving up, weakly pushing herself up from the floor, glaring at the Berserker, wiping the blood away from her mouth. She punched the Berserker repeatedly, spinning to kick it back. The Berserker pushed Tara back, slashing into her stomach, making her lean over, hitting down onto her back, making her fall to the floor.
Kate walked closer, complaining. "Oh, just give up already. Just seeing this is actually making me tired, weak and hurt."
Tara glared at her, breathing heavily. "I'll give up when I'm dead."
"Oh," Kate told her. She clicked her tongue. "Sweetie..."
Tara pushed up from the floor, kicking the Berserker away from her. The Berserker pushed her into the vending machine, making the glass behind her shatter. Tara grabbed hold of the machine to pull herself out. The Berserker punched Tara hard enough in the head to make her fall unconscious.

Tara smiled a small smile, walking toward him. "What are you doing here?"
"Derek let me in," Scott answered.

Scott pulled her closer.
Tara laid her head on his chest.
Scott wrapped his arms around her. "I've been thinking."
"Is this a good thinking or bad thinking?" Tara asked.
Scott smiled. "We've never actually been on a real date."
"There hasn't been time," Tara told him.
"We can make time," Scott told her.
"With people dying all around us?" Tara asked skeptically.
"Okay," Scott allowed. "Maybe after that. We could go see a movie. I haven't seen a movie in forever, and I'm pretty sure you never have."
Tara smiled. "Hey. I have to. Just... Not in a very, very long time."
"So what do you say?" Scott asked.
Tara looked up at him. "I say that sounds like a plan."
Scott smiled. "I say that sounds like a good plan."
Tara and Scott looked at each other, smiling small smiles, kissing slowly and softly but deeply and passionately.

Angel ran to Tara's side, kneeling next to her, trying to wake her up, shaking her. "Tara. Tara, get up. Tara! Tara, get up!"
Tara was awake, disoriented and weak. "Angel. Angel?" She looked around to see that Kate had disappeared, letting Angel help her up. "Where is she, Angel? Angel, where's Kate?"
Angel shook her head in confusion, holding Tara up. "Are you okay?"
Tara sighed deeply. "Define okay, Angel. Where's Natalie or Scott, Stacie, or Ari and Adriana? Where's anyone?"
"Natalie's on the roof fighting a Berserker with Liam," Angel answered. "Ari, Adriana and Lydia are at the Martin lake house. Stacie's with Derek at your loft. Stiles is with Argent. We'll explain about Scott later."
Kira looked at Angel. "Get Tara to the morgue, Angel."

"There were extenuating circumstances," Peter told her.
"Like what?" Malia asked. "The fire?"
Peter nodded. "A fire that nearly burned me alive."
"It nearly burned Tara alive when she was nine years old, and she didn't turn into a psychopath," Malia told him.
"Sociopath," Peter corrected. "And Tara didn't spend six years in a coma. Do you know what that's like for one of us? It's not a pleasant sleep. Imagine it. Being trapped in your body, but still being fully cognizant. Unable to do anything other than listen to your own thoughts slowly driving you absolutely and totally insane, minute by minute, day by day. Yes, I've done horrible, terrible things. And so have a lot of people. And horrible, terrible things are going to keep happening. Especially when there's a dead pool with your name on it."
"But not yours," Malia told him.
Peter nodded. "True. But I am not the Benefactor. I'm just a guy who's out millions of dollars. A few thousand of which I used trying to help you."
"Me?" Malia asked skeptically.
"How does the bad guy prove that he's not so bad?" Peter asked. "By doing an act of kindness."
"What could you ever do for me?" Malia asked.
Peter smirked. "Help you find your mother. I'm pretty interested myself, as the memory was stolen from me, by my sister, Talia."
"Okay," Malia told him. "What did you find?"
"A woman, might be her," Peter told her. "I don't have a name yet. Just a particularly interesting alias. She's called the Desert Wolf. Do you know what that means?"

"Grandma died in Eichen House?" Ari asked.
"Both of your fathers had a difficult relationship with their mother, Ari," Nicole told her. "But after the things she said and the way she acted..."
"They thought she was crazy," Adriana finished.
"Adriana, she said she heard things," Nicole told her.
"Why would she want her ashes here?" Lydia asked.
"Well, actually, she didn't," Nicole answered. "She left instructions to have them spread across the lake."
"How come you've never done it?" Lydia asked.
"Because she wanted the three of you to do it," Nicole answered. She looked at Adriana. "Somehow, even while you were missing for those five years, she was so sure you would find your way back when everyone else had lost hope, Adriana. She wanted you three to do it when you were all eighteen. Lydia's eighteen now." She looked at Ari and Adriana. "You both are weeks away from being eighteen, Ari. And you're all here. I suppose now is as a good of a time as any."
Nicole held the urn toward them.
Ari took off the lid, reaching inside.
The ash shocked her, sparking, making her pull back in pain and shock, gasping.
Ari sighed. "Ow."
"Ari?" Lydia asked.
"Ari, what's wrong?" Adriana asked.
"Aunt Nicole?" Ari asked. "These aren't Grandma's ashes."
"What do you mean?" Nicole asked. "Of course they are."
"No," Lydia told her. She reached inside, taking out a handful, letting it fall back inside, looking at the powder on her hand. "It's Mountain Ash."
Lydia grabbed another handful, throwing it toward the lake.
The ash landed in a perfect line surrounding the base of the boathouse.
Adriana looked around. "The whole building. It's all made of Mountain Ash."
Lydia, Ari and Adriana looked at each other, realizing that their grandmother had known about the supernatural and may have been a creature herself.

Tara thrusted Scott's hand and the tomahawk down repeatedly.
Scott began to chop at the Mute on the floor on his own, repeatedly, over and over and over again, each swing more furious than before, splattering blood on his face. He shifted, letting his canines and claws grow, letting his eyes glow red, growling.

Stiles looked at the last third of the list next to the others.

Hale Loft - Derek's Room
Derek and Stacie were lying down together, sleeping.
Derek woke, looking at Stacie next to him, holding her hand, looking at her for a moment of content, happy for the moment, carefully getting up.
Stacie was stirred by the movement.
Derek walked toward the wall of windows, looking outside.
Stacie woke, looking tiredly at the place where Derek was supposed to be. She looked toward Derek at the windows.
Derek leaned against the wall, looking outside over the town.
Stacie smiled a small smile, letting her eyes close.

Tara's Room
Tara had showered, in a pajamas. She sensed someone in the doorway. "What are you doing here?"
"Derek let me in," Scott answered.
Tara sighed in annoyance. "Of course he did."
"I'm an idiot," Scott told her. "I admit it."
"You wouldn't be the first one to," Tara told him.
Scott sighed. "You have every reason to be angry at me, Tara." Tara turned to face him, nodding. "And I'm not going to make excuses about how I wanted to tell you, but Stiles was holding off on telling Malia, so..."
"Neither of you should have held off," Tara told him. "As usual, Stacie was the smarter out of the three of you and told Derek when he started training her after he returned to his present-day self. He didn't tell me because he thought that you would have. The same reason why he didn't tell Malia."
"I'm sorry," Scott told her. "Just... while I was... technically dead... I saw things. I saw you, but it wasn't... you. I saw you get killed over and over. Stabbed in the back. And it ended with me turning into a monster."
"And you come to me wondering what it means?" Tara asked.
"No," Scott answered. "I know what it means. I was the one that stabbed you in the back. I just thought I was protecting Malia. If Peter knew about her, then he could manipulate her. He didn't even know her name until..."
"The dead pool," Tara finished.
"I just couldn't die without you knowing how truly sorry I am," Scott told her. "I couldn't die with you hating me."
Tara sighed, looking down. "I don't hate you." Scott looked at her sadly. "After everything, I don't think I ever could. But I'm still angry."
"And you have every right to be," Scott told her. "I deserve it."
Tara sighed heavily. "You almost died for real. Are you okay?"
"Yeah," Scott answered. "I'm not the one that was nearly beaten to death by Berserkers."
"I'll survive," Tara told him. "Somehow I always do."
(Song Ends)
"I just wish it had all worked," Scott told her. "It was a good plan."
"I was thinking about that," Tara told him. "And actually, I think maybe it did work. Not that I know exactly who the Benefactor is, but we might know a lot more about him now."
"Tara, no one came," Scott told her. "And no one got visual confirmation. Right, Tara?"
"That's why it might have worked," Tara told him. Scott frowned in confusion. Tara sighed. "Think about it. Who has the power to know when someone's dead, but doesn't need to see the body to know what happened?"
Scott looked at her in realization. "A Banshee."
Tara nodded.

Martin Lake House - Boathouse
Lydia, Ari, Adriana and Nicole were going through a box, kneeling on the floor.
"This is the last thing your grandmother wrote down before she died," Nicole told them, handing them a small piece of paper. Ari took it so Lydia and Adriana could see it on either side of her. "I don't even know why I kept it, because it's basically nonsense."
Lydia, Ari and Adriana looked numbly at the paper, recognizing it. They looked at Nicole.
"Are you absolutely sure Grandma's dead?" Adriana asked.
"Yes," Nicole answered. Lydia, Ari and Adriana tilted their heads. "I mean, she has to be."
"This isn't nonsense, Mom," Lydia told her.
Ari looked down at the numbers, letters and punctuation marks on the paper, in the same language as the dead pool code before they cracked it with the cipher keys. "It's code."
