Chapter 19
Sybil's House (Charming, California)
Sybil could only stare at the surprised face. She could hear Fitz's voice calling her name. She stared at Rio before saying into the phone, "I'll call you back." She hung up the phone, and Rio gave her his panty-dropping smile. Sybil pulled him inside, shutting the door behind him.
"Are you out of your mind?!? What are you doing here?" Sybil asked him as he looked around her house.
"You have an amazing house," Rio says with feigned interest.
"Don't change the subject. What are you doing here?" Sybil folded her arms, looking at him.
Rio only smiled at her before continuing.
"I can't come see you," Rio said, staring at her.
"No," Sybil bluntly tells him.
She and Rio haven't seen each other since their situationship breakup, so for him to be there confused the hell out of her. They haven't even seen each other since. They ended the relationship perfectly, but she's been busy with Pope and Associates, and he was busy with what he does best.
"Damn, and here I thought you missed me." He put his hand on his chest 'hurt'.
"Is that what Troy tells you?" Sybil stated.
Rio smirked this time. Troy and his little band of Sybil's side dudes. They all knew where she was; it wouldn't be long until Jason came also.
"Troy has his own things to do. We just cross paths; besides, there's nothing wrong with a little partnership." Rio responds.
"A little partnership?" She rolled her eyes before scoffing and continuing.
"People that I slept with meeting like a whole business proposal, are you serious?"
"Sybil, there are so many things that are about right now, and you need all the help you can get. You have us all in your pocket and your little president, of course." Rio spoke.
"What things are you talking about, Rio?" She questioned.
"We know about Fitz and his help to win the election," Rio answered. Sybil stared at him in shock.
"How do you know about that?!?!" She shouted.
"A lot of our circle know about it." Rio sat down on the couch.
"And you didn't tell because of what." She started.
"We kept that secret because of you. Troy told us that you had voted for him. Remember when you told us that you would never vote and you chose him? And our dumbasses kept it a secret. For you and you only. " Rio explained to her.
"So what? Do I have my own little harem of helpers or something?" Sybil asked.
"Oh, sweetheart, I can be anything you want me to be, and I know the guys agree with me too." Rio's dark brown eyes stared into hers.
Sybil tried not to get under the spell that he always had before being the hospitality person that she was.
"Are you hungry?" Sybil asked him.
He didn't say anything; he just looked at her as his eyes went from hers to her clothed body and he bit his lip. Sybil rolled her eyes before standing up.
"What about steak? I'm sure you'll love steak." Sybil walked away as he still watched her sway her hips. Damn, he missed her so badly. He watched her cook, which felt like forever until she was finished. She brought over the food and drinks as they ate together. Her phone lay forgotten as Fitz waited for her to call back. A call that will never come.
(The Next Morning)
Sybil rose early so she could see Jax's boys in the hospital. She hoped that Jax was there also as she inserted earrings in her ear before she sat down to put on her Jimmy Choo black heels. She sprayed perfume on herself before taking out the rollers in her hair.
Brushing softly as the curls sort of fell but had gentle waves before grabbing her things and walking downstairs. Her heels thumping as they hit every step. Once hitting the bottom step, she turned to see a sight that made him in tight grey sweatpants. He was cooking her breakfast, she slowly turned around before trying to take a deep breathe.
"Lord almighty.." She whispered as she tried not to think about his lean muscular chest and the print that was starting to show in those sweatpants. Taking another deep breath before walking out. Rio already had a smirk on his face when she walked near the kitchen leaning on the counter. Rio knew she was there, what a nice way to tease his Sybil just like old times.
"Breakfast." Rio greeted her as he flipped the last pancake before going to fix her coffee.
"Sure," Sybil told him, as he passed the coffee.
"5 creams and 5 sugars," Rio says before plating her some food.
"You remembered." She could almost smile at the thought of him remembering. Almost.
"Always," Rio states before getting a good look at her. She was wearing form-fitting beige pants and a tight-fitting shirt. She was wearing his favorite bra. He knew his favorites when he saw it.
"Where are you going?" He asked her as he set her plate in front of her.
"I'm going to see Jax's children in the hospital. I'll have to stop by the store, get them something." She answered as she ate.
He joined her, sitting next to her.
"I'll go with you. Meet the man who has caught Sybil Pope's eye." Rio smiled as he took a bite of his pancakes. Sybil paused and looked at him.
"Why do you want-" Sybil paused looking at Rio who smiled.
"No, you can not come. You'll tell the boys. You are not slick." Sybil tells him making him laugh.
"Oh come on, I'm not. I promise." Rio said to Sybil before she stood up. She looked at him for a moment before speaking,
"Okay, fine," Sybil says before she gestured him to go get ready. Onfinisheding, Rio went to get ready.
Timeskip
They had stopped by the small store as she brought both boys teddy bears and cards along with balloons. Rio stared at Sybil as she played with the teddy bear she was planning on getting one of the boys. She had a smile on her face as she moved the bear's arms as she talked through it. He laughed softly at her as she put it in the cart. She chose another one and a couple of toys before heading towards the cash register.
They grabbed balloons as the woman scanned every item before the total came up to $50.49. She was about to pay before Rio stopped her making looked at him.
"I can pay." He said as he pulled out his roll of money, pulling out 50.49 before handing it to the cashier thanking her and leaving. She got each package together before they left to head to St. Thomas.
Jax/Third's Pov (St.Thomas)
He slept in his oldest boy's hospital bed as they slept in the same bed. Thomas was home with Tra since he was okay. Abel had to stay for checks and get healed. As he slept, little Abel was now up as he shook his daddy awake.
"Dada? Wake up, Dada." Abel shook his daddy awake. Jax groans softly before opening his eyes and looking at his son.
"Hey, buddy. How are you feeling?" Jax whispered to his son, rubbing his head.
"I'm hungry," Abel mumbled cutely.
"Okay. What do you feel like having?" Jax asked his son.
"Cookies." Abel eagerly says with a big smile on his face.
"Good choice. Chocolate chip, a little milk on the side? Coming right up." Jax got up to bring his son what he wanted before there was a knock on the door. The opening door with a surprising head poking in.
"Hello, Jax," Sybil says with a smile.
Elsewhere (Diosa)
Gemma had walked from where she was sleeping in Diosa, meeting Nero up there. He was already sitting when she came, sitting down. Nero had put on his flannel that covered his wife's beater.
"You like it black with sugar, right?" He says as she sat down.
"Yeah, thanks." Gemma thanked before taking a sip.
"You haven't said much since your boy was here," Nero told her as seemed to sigh.
"Yeah, he kind of leaves me speechless these days. Setting the rules for grandma." Gemma replied with a small mumble at the end. Nero nodded before he continued.
"Right."
"How about you and Jax? I'm off limits." Gemma states while looking at her jewelry.
"Yeah, well, I'm a little too old for dating rules. I see who I want to see." Nero sips his coffee before he remembers his talk with Sybil Pope.
"Is that what this is? We seeing each other?" She questions him with a look before looking at his face.
"Yeah. I see you, Gemma." Nero said before his face changed making her worry.
"What's wrong?" Gemma asked.
"I spoke to Sybil Pope," Nero answered looking at Gemma.
"What? What did she have to say?" Gemma questioned.
"She wanted to meet me. She gave me two million dollars and said I could buy the farm but with the rest of the money have to flip it. Get into other businesses." Nero explained.
"And what does she want?" Gemma questioned him.
"She wants 50/50 interest. Any money that comes in, I keep half and I give her half." Nero sips his coffee.
"Does Jax know she asking for money back? That she gave you money?" Gemma interrogated.
"She gave money to Jax and the Grim Bastards president T.O. They don't know that she wants money back from each profit," Nero told her.
Gemma stood with her hands on her hips. That little brown tart. She pulled out her phone to call Jax.
"That bitch thinks she can get a hold off on my son, on the crew." She searched for his number before Nero stopped her.
"I'll tell him. Maybe she'll tell him. All I know I need your help to flip the rest of the money. A daycare, a club whatever as long I give her the money back." Nero shook his head.
Gemma sighed before she and Nero continued talking. She would meet his son for the very first time.
St. Thomas Hospital
Jax stopped in his tracks once he saw her as she fully opened the door, showing gifts and an unknown guy that he never met.
"Sybil, hey. What are you doing here?" Jax said to Sybil, who put the gift baskets down.
"What I can't come see your little munchkin." She stated with a smile as she showed Abel the gift basket making him smile.
"It's just a shock that you're here." Jax walked up to her. Abel already playing with his teddy bear. Rio leaned against the hospital wall as he watched how the two reacted around each other.
"Well, I brought gifts for your sons and making rounds. And to tell you about the one million that I gave you." Sybil tells him as she stands at the end of Abel's bed.
"We haven't started looking yet for the other places," Jax says as tries not to stare into her big black-brown eyes.
"That's fine. Just remember two months. Just to let you know the profits that you make from each business will be a 50/50 interest for me. Are you okay with that?" Sybil leaned against the rail as she looked at him.
"I'll have to let the guys know." Jax rubbed his face as they stared at each other. Rio clenched his jaw a little bit as the tension started building up.
"Thank you and let T.O. know also I'm sure he already got started," Sybil said with a nod. Jax looked at Rio, before looking at Sybil.
"Who's he." Jax nodded over to Rio, making him stand up and walk over to him. He nodded over at Jax before he spoke.
"Rio Lopez, I own a casino down in Las Vegas. I'm just visiting Sybil here." Rio states looking at Sybil, who tucks her hair behind her hair before crossing her arms. Jax looked at her before looking at him.
"How do you know Sybil?" Jax asked.
"We go way back," Rio says vaguely.
Jax nods before feeling a tiny hand gripping his arm.
"Dadda, I want cookies," Abel said.
"Okay, buddy. I'll go get you some cookies. Come with me." Jax told him before looking at Rio and Sybil. They followed him out of the room, going to get his son some cookies.
"Do you know what she does?" Jax says looking at Sybil. Jax looked at the Hispanic man. He was sure the guy was in the same business as Sybil.
"I know," Rio replied with a nod to the white biker. Sybil stared between them with watchful eyes.
"What do you do really?" Jax whispered.
"I run many businesses within the Las Vegas area code. I do many things that grant me connections that I need." Rio tells him.
"So are trying to help her with us?" Jax stated.
"If she'll have me I don't mind helping. Since you have two months, you'll need to know what are you planning on doing." Rio explained. Sybil looked at him. Was he trying to stay lonely? Er., he can't.
"You have a lot to do back at home, right." Sybil looked at Rio with a look. Rio saw the look, and Jax watched from the sideline.
"Mama, we had this talk. I'll always be there for you. The others will too." Rio spoke making Jax look at Sybil. Just how many people was she connected to? To?
"You have to inform them then if you are going to stay," Sybil replied before her phone buzzed in her purse. Takes out her phone as Rio and Jax talk, getting his son some milk and cookies. Jax didn't know what to make of this. Of Sybil. Of the two at all. He just that he was attracted to Sybil Pope. He only hoped he didn't act upon it.
Sybil looked at her phone to see that Harrison left her a text.
To: Sybil
From: Harrison
Checking up on you, to see how you doing. We are all fine here, missing you.
Sybil smiled texting him back.
To: Harrison
From: Sybil
I'm good. Rio Lopez is here. You remember Rio, right?
She sent it before hearing another voice coming down the hall catching all their attention. Tara Knowles, known wife of Jax Teller, walked with little Thomas in the stroller. Tara pulled Jax aside with a side eye at Rio before Sybil came back to talk to Rio.
"What are you doing?" Sybil starts as she gives Rio a look.
"Sybil, I am assisting you. Additionally, I am watching out for you." As his hand glides over her arm. Jax was speaking to Tara when he glanced over to observe where Rio's hand was placed during their quiet argument. It was a private setting. There was more to their relationship than meets the eye. Her phone buzzed again. As she took her phone out.
To: Sybil
From: Harrison
Your Rio. He's there. What the hell he's doing in Charming?
"You have businesses to run. You think Troy is going to let you know stay around me that long." Sybil looked at him crossing her arms.
"Troy probably watching us right now. I don't think he would care." Rio said before Jax came over interrupting them.
"Sybil, There's a request. I like to ask." Jax asked.
"Shoot," Sybil replied before Jax continued.
"There's a named Otto Delaney. He's someone that used to be in the club and also the witnesses to the RICO case before your help."
"Uh-huh." Sybil motioned for him to carry on. She texted Harrison back.
To: Harrison
From: Sybil
Yes, he's here. Tell you the deets when I come back.
"I've been having Tara go to see him to recant his statement, so just in case, it's picked up again," Jax added.
"And you were wondering if I could work my magic to get him to do it." Sybil guessed which Jax nodded to.
"Yeah." He agreed.
"I can do something better. I'll meet with Otto Delaney and make him a deal. A deal he can refuse. All you have to do is get his things together." Sybil stated before walking away.
"Things together? Why?" Jax questioned before watching her walk away.
"Trust her. She knows what's she doing. I will draft a list of things and send it to you." Rio says before walking away following her. Jax could only stare after them. He wondered what she was planning.
Mayor's Office (Charming, California)
Jacob Hale Jr. sat in his chair as he looked at the card that was with the money. He had his secretary look into Jason Deluca. And boy did he have a long profile of the foundations that he invested in. He was also a billionaire and what he found interesting was some photos of Ms. Sybil Pope on his Myspace. The two seem close almost in love at some point. If he was willing to help, then it would be good to have both in his pocket.
He picked up his landline before hitting the respectful digits and holding the phone to his ear. He listened to the dial tone before he heard a husky man's voice.
"Jason Deluca. Speak."
Jacob was nervous but began talking.
"Mr. Deluca..." Jacob started.
Stockton County Prison
Otto Delaney. There was much to hear about the ex-member of SAMCRO other than the fact that his wife was an ex-pornstar and director. But she was dead now, and he was still in jail rotting. He was now blind in one eye and he acted out every time. The reason he was so against SAMCRO was because Bobby slept with his wife. He was the reason she was dead now. Tara has been trying to get him to recant his statement, but it never worked.
It wasn't until it came to visitors a day that he finally understood how everything would go. Usually, he never got visitors unless it was Tara with her fake sicknesses. This time his visitor was a beautiful African American woman. She was dressed in an off-shoulder red shirt tucked into a black skirt with a slit at the left side of her skirt with red heels. She walked over with a folder, just for him, he wasn't sure. She sat down.
"Otto Delaney, what a pleasure to meet you." She put out her hand as a calm gesture but he ignored it. The woman only smiled at him before opening the folder.
"Otto Delaney,48 years old, ex- SAMCRO member, widowed. You were in here for a 6-year sentence but with the work of SAMCRO. You are in for 30 years. I want to hear your side of the story. I don't care about Samcro." She states as she closes his file. He looked at her in silence. No one has ever as for his side of the story. They always asked about SAMCRO and what he did for them.
And so Otto Delaney spoke to the woman that was a mystery that hadn't told him her name. He felt like he could trust her. The woman listened and once he was done he hoped to see what she would say.
"My name is Sybil Pope, Otto. Thank you for telling me your side and I'm so sorry for your wife. The reason why I wanted to talk to you is because of the RICO case." Sybil saw how he looked.
"It's okay I'm not here to get you in trouble. The reason why I wanted to talk to you is because the RICO is void. No one will not ask around anymore about it. I have set up a location, where you will live out your sentence in luxury. 24 hrs House arrest for 30 years in a comfortable house. Every day a cop will come and check on you and give you groceries and your mail. Would you like to leave this place Mr. Otto, where anyone can ask you about SAMCRO using your wife and the things that they did? Or would you like to be in a place of seclusion, where you live in harmony, where no one can find you even SAMCRO?" Sybil suggested as she turned the contract to face him. Otto read it over, before looking up at her as she pulled out a pen.
"I retract my statement. I want to live in peace for Luann. Please." Otto said making her nod. She looked at the guard before they grabbed him softly yet roughly. They guided him to a van and they opened the doors, letting him in. Otto looked around in the nice, spacey van. His boxes of items sat waiting as he searched through them. Luann's old movies her favorite perfume and other items that belong to her and his new clothes. He quickly got dressed. The van began to move. Happy to be away from that prison he started laughing.
Otto Delaney was set up away from drama, away from anyone. With monthly settlements to live on. Sybil and Brandon ride away back to Charming. Her phone buzzed again to show.
To: Sybil
From: J
You gave Charming Mayor, my landline. What are you planning?
She smiled before texting back.
To: J
From: Sybil
Did you agree to it?
It didn't take long before he texted back.
To: Sybil
From: J
Of course, I did. Anything for you.
Sybil cut off her phone before enjoying the ride back.
Eli Roosevelt's place
The next place she went to was Eli Roosevelt's house. She watched the trees pass by as they drove by. Brandon her own right-hand man drove their van. Brandon looked at his boss in deep thought before looking at the road. Sybil turned her head to look at him.
"I can feel you staring, what's up?" Sybil asked. Brandon shook his head.
"Nothing, Ms. Sybil." He replied before he pulled into the driveway of the sheriff.
"Okay," Sybil told him with a look before taking off her seat belt. Rio had wanted to draft the papers back at the house. She didn't know what Rio was planning and she didn't want to find out. He was mostly updating the harem bros. She got out of the car, closing the door before walking over to the door. Ringing the doorbell, she waited for the door to open.
The door opened quickly showing Eli with his hand on his hip. He was still dressed in his policeman outfit.
"Finally you're here," Eli stated.
"You want to sit down and talk, let's sit down and talk," Sybil said before walking inside his house, passing him. Eli closed the door. Brandon watched with a tense shoulder. He knew he didn't have anything to worry about, but still, his boss was in a policeman's house. Anything could happen.
Rita was on the sofa when Sybil came in. She stood up as Sybil sat down crossing her legs.
"Eli, what's going on?" Rita questioned looking at Eli. Sybil cut in.
"Rita, I see that you are better now. I'm glad. The men that attack you are gone, so you don't have to worry." Sybil answered.
"Your people were the ones that helped me." Rita sat down, looking at her lifesaver.
"Yes-" Sybil said before nodding.
"Do you want any tea or water-" Rita started before Eli cut her off.
"Baby, you don't have to do that. She's just here to talk-" Eli was cut off by Sybil.
"I'll take water my throat is a little parched." Sybil smiled as the woman rushed to get her some water before her face turned serious.
"So what did you want to talk about?" Sybil questioned with a straight face.
"Did you have something to do with the FBI taking the SAMCRO RICO case?" Eli interrogated. She greeted Rita with a smile as she put her water on the table. Rita sat back down even when Eli gave her a look. She ignored him.
"I wouldn't say that, but higher people than my pay grade believe that the crew hasn't done anything that many others haven't done," Sybil told them. Eli couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"They are dangerous. What are your plans for them anyway?" Eli stated.
"I wouldn't say dangerous, please they can hardly keep up with other gangs." She scoffs taking a sip of her water. Yeah, SAMCRO killed a few; many people, gun smuggled, and worked with various other gangs. But they weren't as dangerous as her kings and her father. Even though Jax was all the things he was a smooth talker and a good head on his shoulders, he still had a lot of things to learn. He needed to grease palms to get what he wanted. he needed to be three steps ahead always.
"They are very important to my plans and future." Sybil shrugged.
"What plans?" Eli asked her.
Sybil looked at him for a second, " You think I'm going to tell you my plans for SAMCRO." Sybil laughed.
"I wouldn't tell you even if you were the last person on earth." She continued.
"Then why did Stockton call and say that Otto Delaney went missing from correctional prison?" Eli questioned.
"He went missing? Wow, those officers need to be fired." She feigned shock but was secretly smiling on the inside.
"Did you have something to do with that?" He continued.
"No never." Sybil lied.
Eli scoffs at her. Rita watched in amusement as her husband's favorite vein started to show.
"I didn't do it. They need to fire those officers up there. Waste of our tax-paying dollars." Sybil carried on.
"Why did you help me and my wife?" Eli questioned.
"Why would I not? Come on, Eli you came to Charming a place that is stuck in the 1960s, a black man in white men's business. It's the least I could do. Why would I want my people caught up in that." Sybil spoke.
"Then why are you working with Jax?" Eli sarcastically asked her.
"Good question, I'm not a man. I'm a hundred times better. SAMCRO is of use to me and it will stay that way until they are no longer useful. My father gave me six months. Six months it shall be." Sybil said before standing up.
"Thank you Rita for the water and this talk, Eli." She added before walking out the door.
"Come back and see us," Rita shouted, shrugging when Eli gave her another look. The door signaled that Sybil left.
"What?"
Sybil Pope's House (Charming, California)
Rio sat on the computer as he was printing the papers for Sybil's little biker boo. Their chemistry was intense and he couldn't help but feel jealous about it. He knew Jax was watching them argue that's why he placed his hand on her arm. Jax watched them like a Hawk as they spoke. He could tell the guy was reeling in jealousy. There was a ding on his computer as he looked to see he had a video call from the boys.
"Well, well how is Charming?" Jason said with a grin as his picture showed. He was in his office. Troy and Marcus pop up next.
"It's eventful. I met the biker. I see what she sees in him. He has potential, so I'm going to be here with her for a while to help." Rio tells.
"You were always the softest when it came to Sybil. How are they around each other?" Marcus cut in.
"It's intense. He likes her but he also has a wife with kids." Rio mentioned, ignoring the part about the diss.
"That's her type alright," Jason joked.
"I think she trying to make him into a king." Rio inputted making Troy sit up.
"Him? The biker."Troy questioned.
"Yeah, She broke his snitch out of jail just to hide him from anyone who wanted him as a witness for the RICO case." Rio comments.
"Most likely she made a deal with him. Obstacles not being in his way as she continues to build them up." Troy replied. His hand was on his head. This girl he thinks.
"She's her father through and through." Marcus shook his head. Troy scoffs, she was much better than her father. Her father would've killed him.
"She should be done meeting with Eli Roosevelt. The sheriff that she helped with his wife." Rio continued.
"I know him. He'll want to know about her plans. She won't tell him." Troy mentioned.
"Like she'll tell a cop. She is as stubborn as a mule." Jason started.
"So what's the game plan?" Marcus asked Rio.
"Sybil gave them two months to flip the money that she gave them. So I draft up things for them to do or at least choose. To help Sybil out. She would hate to kill the handsome biker." Rio answered.
"Look at you being Sybil's helper." Jason teased him.
"Fuck you," Rio told him, making Jason laugh.
"You wish ." Making Marcus say, " Hey hey ladies calm down."
"You're just trying to get in Sybil's good graces," Jason told Rio.
"Just because you already had a slice of Sybil's pie doesn't mean anything." Rio retorts making Jason raise surrender hands.
"I'm just saying. She always awards us for good behavior. We got mommy's approval." Jason chuckled making Troy roll her eyes at the man.
"So she's mommy now?" Marcus stared at this man like he said the most dumbest shit ever.
"I'm joking. Not." Jason carried on. Marcus looked at him disgusted.
"Well keep up the good work. Let us know when you need us." Troy said because clicking out the video call.
"Yeah, see you soon," Jason said before doing the same thing.
"Just let me know about any wiring the business needs. I'll send a team out." Marcus told him before clicking out.
"Stuff to do. Stuff to do." Rio scoffs.
He had his work cut out for him.

A/N: Sorry for the late chapter. Busy with work and also took a little hiatus before I made a new book named Self-made, based on the kdrama Hierarchy. I hope you like this chapter! The chapters ahead will be mostly for Sons of Anarchy until it gets to the 8th episode of Scandal. I might add original scenes for her and Fitz. I don't know yet. Let me know what you think. Comment, share, and vote.
