Can't Even Think Straight {23}
***Sebastian’s POV***
“Sebastian, can I talk to you for a second?” Rory asked, standing up.
I nodded and placed Evan on the couch before following Rory upstairs. He led me into Murphy’s room, and eyes shot to the bed briefly.
The way Evan could so easily control me with the use of his body both frightened and excited me. I didn’t like to be controlled, but with Evan, I secretly enjoyed it.
Rory shut the door and eyed me carefully. “I told you that if you kept messing with Evan, it would upset me,” he said flatly.
“What are you talking about?” I asked, honestly confused. I hadn’t been messing with Evan!
“I know you, Sebastian. You like to be in control. You can control Evan by simply looking into his eyes. He’s a moron. He’s in love with you. Not just your appearance, either. And you know that,” he said.
Getting even more confused, I nodded. I knew Evan was really in love with me. I could tell by the look in his eyes when he said it. Hell, I doubted if Evan even realized it.
“If you have sex with Evan, I won’t be happy,” he said, his eyes flashing.
“You think I’m going to have sex with him and dump him,” I said, starting to understand. “You think I’m just using Evan.”
“Look into my eyes and tell me you wanted to be with him,” Rory challenged. “You didn’t want to date him. He caught you off guard, and you cracked. That’s the only reason you two are together right now.”
“I didn’t want to be with him at first. He wasn’t the sort of person I would date. He was obnoxious and idiotic. But somewhere down the road, I did get feelings for him Rory. Honest feelings. I’m not with him for sex. That’s just barbaric, and I’m not that type of person. I sincerely care about Evan,” I said, trying to stay calm.
Rory shrugged. “Hey, whatever. Just don’t take his virginity. I don’t trust you.”
“Well Evan trusts me!” I said, starting to lose my patience with Rory. Who the hell did he think he was? I wasn’t in this for Evan’s virginity! I was dating him because I honestly liked him!
“Like you said: Evan’s idiotic,” Rory said with another shrug.
I clenched my fists tightly at my sides, trying to keep calm. “I’m not using him Rory. I really care about Evan,” I said.
“You know what I think, Sebastian? I think you’re going to hurt him. Hell, I think you’re going to shatter him. You’ll break his heart. I can already tell,” Rory said.
“Shut up!” I snapped, my patience leaving me. “Just shut up Rory!”
I roughly shoved by him and stormed out of Murphy’s room. I needed to get out of here before Rory really made me angry, and I was taking Evan with me. I would never hurt him.
I rolled over on my bed, trying to block out what had happened yesterday. I knew Evan was going to try to find out our conversation today, and I wouldn’t let him.
I wasn’t using Evan. I was really starting to fall in love with him. I didn’t know what it was about him that drew me in, but there was something. Maybe how cute he was, or how obliviously narcissistic. Maybe it was the fact that he was so happy-go-lucky about everything without even realizing it.
“Sebastian? Are you still in bed?” my mom asked, cracking my bedroom door open and peeking in. She glared at me and stepped into my room. “Sebastian Kristof Amsel! You get out of bed right now before you’re late for school!”
“Sorry, sorry,” I mumbled, sitting up and running a hand through my hair.
“You’re too old for me to be waking you up for school Sebastian. You need to be more responsible. You’re 17 years old,” mom said sternly.
“I’m sorry mom,” I said, getting out of bed and going over to grab my clothes. I really wanted to tell her to go away, but I knew she would ground me if I was rude to her. I wanted to hang out with Evan tonight. I couldn’t get grounded.
“You’re too old for me to be doing this kind of stuff Sebastian. Set two alarms if you have to,” she said, still ranting to me. Ugh. It was too early in the morning for this.
“Mom, I don’t mean to interrupt you, but can you please leave my room so I can change?” I asked politely.
“Yes, I can. But so help me god, if you wake up late for school one more time, I will not be happy with you Sebastian. You’ve done it a lot this year,” she said before shutting my door.
I let out a breath of relief as I changed my clothes. I went out to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. I looked at my hair in the mirror and sighed. Talk about a hot mess.
I went back to my bedroom and pulled on a slouch beanie. I grabbed my backpack and my car keys.
“Sebastian Kristof Amsel! You look like a hobo with that thing on your head!” mom said, glaring at the slouch beanie.
“I’ll take it off when I get to school mom,” I said, really wanting her to go away. I wasn’t in the mood. I was still angry from Rory’s words. Everything he had said kept replaying in my head.
“And don’t speed,” she said. “Or else you lose the car.”
I nodded, having heard that a million times already. “I know mom. But I have to go now. I’m going to be late. Goodbye.”
I left the house as fast as I could and took off towards school. Leave it to my mother to make me even angrier.
I got out once I got to school. I went inside and looked around until I spotted Murphy. I went over to him.
“What’s got you in a mood?” he asked curiously, glancing at me.
“I’m not in a mood,” I lied pleasantly.
“Seb, I can see it in your eyes. I seriously hate when you think I don’t know you after seven years,” Murphy said, rolling his eyes at me.
“SEBASTIAN!”
“Omph!” I choked out as I spun and had Evan launch against me. He wrapped his arms around me and gave me a goofy grin.
“Good morning!” he said cheerfully.
“Good morning,” I said, leaning down and kissing him.
I straightened up and kept my calm composure as I saw Rory approaching. He stepped up to us and regarded me before giving me a nod in greeting.
“Hello Sebastian,” he said.
“Hi Rory,” I said, forcing a smile. I didn’t want Evan to think there was anything wrong. There was nothing for Evan to worry about. I wasn’t going to hurt him.
Evan watched us suspiciously before grabbing my hand and dragging me away towards our lockers. I mentally sighed, but let him pull me.
“What did you and Rory talk about yesterday?” he demanded.
I cupped his face in my hands and kissed him deeply. He wrapped his arms around my neck, kissing me back.
I pulled away from his lips and rested my forehead against his, looking into his eyes deeply. I could see that hypnotized look appearing on his face.
“We didn’t talk about anything, Evan. Let it go?” I asked him with a charming smile.
“Nothing. You guys didn’t talk about anything. I’ll let it go,” he said, still lost in my eyes. “He has an ugly name anyways. Ugly name, ugly face. Don’t even care what he said. Just don’t want you to be upset.”
I paused before smiling softly and kissing him. He cared, even if he seemed like he didn’t. And I knew he cared about Rory, too.
Although, I didn’t get why he kept saying Rory was ugly. He really wasn’t that bad looking. Oh well. At least I didn’t have to be jealous of Rory, like Evan was jealous of Murph.
“Come on, let’s go to our lockers,” I said, breaking our eye contact and taking Evan’s hand in mine.
“So are we still hanging out afterschool today and having sex?” Evan asked. His eyes widened and he slapped his free hand over his mouth. “I didn’t mean sex,” he said, pulling his hand away from his mouth slowly. “I meant…uh…yea, I meant sex. Can we just fuck right here? Ew, never mind. We’d get diseases. God only knows what’s on the floor of this school. So I guess your bed will have to do. Your bed is comfortable, after all. We should do it while eating your mom’s cooking. Is that weird? Nah, it would be weird if I wanted to do it with your mom. Oh ew, why did I even say that? Sometimes I don’t even know why I talk. So, yea, we’ll h-”
I put a hand over his mouth and sighed, pulling him into a hug. “If I kiss you, will you shut up?” I asked.
Evan nodded obediently and I smiled and kissed him. I pulled away and grabbed his hand, taking him to his locker and kissing him again before walking across to mine.
We exchanged our stuff before heading to class. When lunch time came, I sat down and waited patiently for Evan and Rory.
“Yes!” Evan was saying angrily.
“No, Evan,” Rory said in annoyance.
“Yes!” Evan cried. He turned to face me. “Sebastian, Rory said that I’m not the sexiest thing in the world. Tell him he’s wrong!”
“I would, but I do own a mirror,” I said, smirking and gesturing at myself.
Evan pouted and sat down. “No. You are a close second to me, but no one beats my impossibly good looks.”
I rolled my eyes. Oh Evan. My narcissistic boyfriend.
“Hey Sebastian, guess what?” Evan asked eagerly.
“What, Evan?” I asked, glancing at him.
“What did the blanket say when it fell off the bed?”
“What, Evan?”
“Oh sheet!”
He burst into laughter at his own dumb joke and I stared at him before shaking my head. A smile came to my face as I sighed, reaching over and taking his hand in mine.
“You’re dumb,” I said matter-of-factly before kissing him.
“You love it. And me,” he said with a grin.
I smirked at him and kissed him again, remaining silent. I think he was right, and that kind of scared me. I think I was in love with Evan.
Being with him made me happier than I had ever been in my entire life. I felt…free. Like I could act like my actual self when I was with him. I didn’t have to be so polite and casual. I could let loose, smile, laugh, and have fun. I love being with Evan. I loved how stupid he was. I loved cuddling with him and kissing him. And, hell, I was pretty sure I loved him.
But that also scared me a little. I had never been in love before. I had a bad habit where I tended to fear what I didn’t know. Love fell into that category.
***Evan’s POV***
“Two drums and a cymbal walk off a cliff. BUDUMSHHHH,” I cried and began to die of laughter at how funny I was.
I stopped laughing and pouted at Rory. I smacked him in the chest. “Why aren’t you laughing? I’m funny!”
“You’re so stupid,” Rory said with a sigh, shutting his locker and slinging his backpack over his shoulder. “Are you coming with me to Murphy’s?”
I shook my head and smiled dreamily. “Nope. I’m going to Sebastian house to have sex. I mean hang out! …No, I totally meant have sex. He’s so attractive. And sweet. And funny. Charming. Fun. I feel like I’m describing myself!”
“Don’t have sex with him Evan,” Rory said flatly.
“Why?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him suspiciously. “You want his virginity, don’t you? I KNEW IT. YOU’RE WORKING WITH LIAM. YOU DAMN IRISH BASTARDS. GO CHOKE ON A POTATO.”
Rory slapped a hand over my mouth and glared at me. “Will you just trust me for once Evan? Do not have sex with Sebastian. You guys just started dating. Give it time. Promise you’ll listen to me for once?”
I looked into his eyes, ready to lick his hand and protest against what he was saying. But the serious look in his made me pause.
I nodded slowly and Rory released his hand. I glanced behind me and saw Sebastian walking towards us. When I turned back to Rory, I saw concern flash through his eyes so fast I nearly missed it.
“I promise I won’t,” I said. “I’m giving up a good time for you, Rory. You better love me more than you already do! In fact, you better be drowning in your love for me.”
Arms wrapped around my waist and I jumped in surprise. “Sebastian!” I cried, spinning in his arms and kissing him.
“Now why is Rory drowning in his love for you?” Sebastian asked, glancing at Rory.
“Oh trust me Sebastian; I’m not,” Rory said with a shrug. “Bye Evan.”
We watched as he made his way down the hallway and disappeared into the crowd of kids leaving the school. Sebastian took my hand in his and kissed me.
“Ready to go?” he asked.
I nodded and followed him out of the school and down to the parking lot. We got in his car and I plugged in my iPod.
“We’re listening to Adam Lambert. Deal with it!” I said sternly as I turned on “Kickin’ In”.
Sebastian chuckled. “I can deal with it,” he said as he pulled out of the parking lot and started towards his house.
“She wants to introduce me to her friend Eddie! What is she trying to do to me? He got words that rhyme, he got a dirty mind. Persuasive, am I about to do it now?” I sang along cheerfully.
Sebastian patiently listened to me sing my Adam Lambert songs until we got to his house. We went inside together and I sniffed curiously.
“Mmm, more heavenly smells,” I said joyfully. “What’s your mom making tonight?”
Sebastian rolled his eyes as he pulled me towards his bedroom. “She’s probably just making lasagna or something.”
We went into his bedroom and he shut the door, locking it. We sat on his bed together and he pulled me into his arms, lying down with me and kissing me gently.
“I like just spending time with you. We don’t even have to be doing anything together and I’m happy,” he said with a smile.
“You’re so sweet and cliché I could just die,” I gushed, hugging him tightly and kissing him.
He deepened the kiss and bit my bottom lip. I opened my mouth, allowing his tongue in. Our tongues rubbed together eagerly, and Sebastian rolled so that his body was on top of mine.
My promise to Rory came back and I gently pushed Sebastian off of me. He stared at me, looking slightly confused.
“Not today,” I mumbled.
“Rory?” he guessed.
I shook my head. “No!” I cried defensively. “I have…uh…yeast infection. Wait. Can’t only bread get yeast infection? Or is bread yeast? Does yeast infection mean you have bread in your no-no spot? Oh, never mind. I think yeast is what makes bread rise. So does yeast infection give you a hard on? Can guys even get yeast infection?”
Sebastian placed his hand over my mouth, laughing. “Evan, I know it’s because of Rory.”
“Rory didn’t give me yeast infection!” I cried, pulling his hand away from my mouth. “That’s just disturbing! I would never sleep with Rory! Hold on…is yeast infection even an STD? OH MY GOD DO YOU GET IT FROM EATING BREAD?”
“Evan!” Sebastian cried, laughing even harder. “I mean that I know Rory told you something along the lines of not taking our relationship too fast!”
“Oh, yea. That,” I said, blushing a little.
Sebastian kissed me deeply. “It’s okay. I won’t take it any faster than you want. I don’t ever want to make you uncomfortable.”
I smiled and rested my head on his chest. He held me close and kissed my cheek. He began to play with my hair as we laid together in comfortable silence.
“Boys! Dinner!” Mrs. Amsel called sometime later.
“Cute time over! Dinner time!” I cried happily, jumping up and pulling Sebastian with me.
We went to his dining room and sat down together. I eyed the lasagna on the table hungrily as Mr. and Mrs. Amsel sat down together.
We loaded our plates with food and I dug in, eating hungrily. Sebastian coughed to disguise a laugh as he watched me. I pouted but ignored him. Sorry that you’re jealous I eat my food but I won’t eat you!
“Sebastian, I hope you won’t have any more problems waking up in the morning,” Mrs. Amsel said, raising an eyebrow at her son.
“No mom. I’m sorry,” Sebastian said respectfully. “It won’t happen again.”
Jeez. I would’ve told my mom to hop off my ass and let me wake up when I wanted to wake up. But I guess I was just classier than Sebastian.
“Good,” Mrs. Amsel said. “And I hope you took that thing off you head before you went to school this morning.”
Sebastian nodded. “Yes, I did,” he said.
Huh? Did she mean the slouch beanie he had been wearing this morning? Because he had looked like a total badass in that beanie. Mmm.
“Evan, either the food is good, or you were thinking of me,” Sebastian whispered so that only I could hear. “Because you just went ‘Mmm’ again.”
I blushed. “What? The food is good and you’re hot,” I whispered defensively.
We finished eating and Sebastian took care of our dishes before we went back to his bedroom. We laid down together again.
“Your parents seem really strict,” I said with a frown. Gosh, if my parents were that strict, I would just die. I was too used to being a spoiled brat!
Sebastian shrugged. “They’re just doing what they think is best for me,” he said, unconcerned.
I kissed him and smiled widely. “I love you,” I said cheerfully.
“I love you too Evan,” he said, holding me close.
My eyes widened as I stared up at him. He said he would only tell me he loved me if he truly meant it.
“You heard me,” he said, cracking a small smirk. “I. Love. You.”
“I love you more than Fat Bastard loves eating babies,” I said, staring at him in wonder. Sebastian Amsel loved me. Me!
“You’re such a moron,” he said, kissing me. “But I love you anyways.”
I smiled, happier than I had ever been in my life. I cuddled against Sebastian and kissed him deeply. This was perfect. Nothing could ruin my happiness!
