Dean's {one of many} nightmares

"I don't understand."

"Cassie, it's 4 am and we've been at these questions for hours, can't we just watch TV?" Hannah laughed softly.

"I watched a movie about a pizza man a few times-"

"A pizza man?" She laughed once more, biting into the apple she had previously been juggling.

"Yes, he was spanking a babysitters re-"

"Alright, that's enough of that conversation" She quickly cut him off. Hannah didn't need any more to understand such a human concept. Thrown off guard by sudden movements of tussling bedsheets, they turned their heads to see Dean close to thrashing, beginning to sweat profusely and mumble incoherent sentences, clawing at the sheets. "Woah, is he okay?" Hannah murmured. Castiel rose from his spot as if he had experienced this before and walked beside the bed, trying to control Dean's movements so he wouldn't hurt himself again.

Hannah slowly extend her hand to read his mind, Castiel watching her carefully while trying to restrain Dean's arms.

"Dean" He spoke loudly, capturing the attention of Sam. Sam opened his eyes to see Hannah standing beside his thrashing brother with her arm extended, he launched out of bed with the angel blade grasped tightly. With no time to react, Scar reacted by making her disappear.

Castiel frowned at Sam before turning his attention to Dean, who's thrashing caused his hands to bleed as he smacked them on the walls. Castiel shook his shoulder and yelled his name as he awoke, panic-stricken eyes looking into Castiel's and sweat down his forehead like delicate raindrops. Castiel took his hand, healing it, and had learnt not to broach the topic further. Dean Winchester was a strong man, even when he was pretending.

"Dean? Are you alright?"

"Yes, Sammy, I'm fine-"

"What was she doing to him?" Sam looks Castiel in the eyes firmly when he speaks, his protectiveness of his brother like a red hot flame.

"She? What?" Dean frowned.

"Hannah wasn't doing anything, she was trying to help" Castiel frowned in response.

"The angel? Blue Eyes had nothing to do with it" Dean laughed as if Sam was displaying idiocy. Sam's features were sorrowful if anything.

"I thought she was hurting you, Dean-"

"Not all angels are horrible beings, Sam" Castiel rebutted once more. Dean rises, walks to the door and grabs his jacket.

"I'm going for a walk"

"Dean, it's 4:45 am"

"I won't go far, Sammy" Dean murmured sarcastically, closing a shaky mahogany door firmly behind him.

"I apologise for my intrusion, Mr Winchester" Hannah spoke slowly as not to startle him. She was unsuccessful, a subtle flinch was noticeable.

"There's a lot scarier in the world than an angel standing over you while you sleep...probably two angels" he laughs, taking a swig of a beer as he sits on the Chevy Impala. She laughed genuinely, folding her arms. "Well, are you coming to sit?"

"You trust me to sit on your precious baby?" She tilted her head.

"If Castiel trusts you, which is hard enough to do, I guess I can trust you...unless you prove me wrong" he half winks, smiling cheekily. Hannah take's a seat beside him, watching the highway bustle quietly, the sunrise beginning to rear its head.

"Humanity is beautiful, isn't it" She grins as she watches the world begin to wake from its slumber.

"It can be. It's the things that threaten it that I worry about" Dean speaks through another swig of his beer.

"Humanity is much more peaceful than upstairs" Hannah watches as a couple walk their dog along the footpath.

"So Cas tells me"

"Castiel is my favourite, out of the infinite numbers of angels. My favourite brother, he always has been. He practically raised me with Gabriel and Balthazar."

"Balthazar" He chuckled softly, "So, what happened to you two?"

"I, uh" She twitched, memories. "I disobeyed heaven, Castiel escaped, I did not. Upstairs told him I was dead, punished me and then sent me away to..." She twitched again, more visibly this time.

"The rack?"

"Yes, sir" She flinched, voice unwavering as she stretched her back uncomfortably. The comforting hand on her shoulder was more than unexpected.

"It's alright, I've been there too, we can struggle together" he approached it in a more satirical matter, regardless of her knowing how much he had been through.

'I raised him too.'

He shivered subtly in freezing air, trying to disguise it as a stretch.

"Here, I'll get you all breakfast"

"It's alright, we-"

"Mr Winchester, please, let me be useful" She laughed.

"We might be on the move soon, how will you find us?" Dean questioned. She laughed loudly, a cheeky smile growing.

"I'm a celestial being, I'm sure I can find a way sir."

She vanished, leaving Dean sitting on the impala, a new warm rug now placed over his shoulders in her absence to keep him warm. He chuckled softly, adjusting it.

The mahogany door swings on obnoxiously loud hinges.

"Dean, I think we have a case."
