Ha-Eun was sinking. Sinking under the crushing weight of a burden that was never supposed to be hers. 

It all began as a desperate attempt to support her mother, as a severe illness induced the aged woman into a coma. Ha-Eun, being the only child and bearing a heart perfused with love for her remaining parent, undertook the responsibility of the piling hospital bills. She dropped out of SNU, gave up her savings and took out loans.

It wasn't enough. Her mother's condition remained on the brink of tragedy. Now, Ha-Eun had a deadline to meet, and loan sharks close on her tail. The girl was trapped in the confines of an endless cycle consisting purely of dread and desperation.

She had hoped for a miracle. A breakthrough in her mother's health. A sudden windfall to pay her owed debts. However, with every prayer, she was met with a gutting silence. Ha-Eun was close to a breaking-point. The girl that was once considered a prodigy in the midst of her hometown was hopeless. 

Though, as Ha-Eun boarded a late-night train, someone offered her an escape hatch. A salesman slipped a paper card in the palm of her hand, promising a gateway out of the hell she was enduring. Without hesitating, she accepted the invitation, wondering if the suited man had been her guardian-angel.

If only she knew.
