Thirty One // Promise.
I scramble through the closet desperately looking for something to wear for our date tonight. I pick out two, one is a olive green dress with a deep v - neck neckline that comes between my breasts. Very elegant and beautiful, except it's very short.
I hold up another one. This one is a light gray color, short, coming right above my knees. There's a slit a little ways up, exposing my upper thigh, it's very sexy. It's skin tight, and it pushes my breasts together to make them look bigger.
Finally, after ten minuets of switching back and forth, I decide on the gray one. I pick up a pair of heels, they are thin black sandals.
I do my makeup for a night out. I smile finally feeling satisfied with my look. I make my way downstairs.
"All done?" Josh grumbles.
"Yes." I say watching the back of his head. He finally turns. And looks at me, his jaw dropping to the floor.
"Holy shit Jen." He mutters coming close to me. "Are you sure you ain't ready to go clubbing?"
I laugh softly kissing his cheek. "I can change if you want." I suggest.
"Oh hell no." He says shaking his head stepping back to look me up and down.
"Good." I smile.
"Okay, I got my wallet, you got your phone and purse."
"Did you feed driver?" I ask.
"Shit. Yeah I'll do that quick. Go wait in the car. I'll drive." I nod and kiss his cheek again before sneaking out behind him.
He's wearing a dark navy blue collared shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Anytime a guy does this, it makes him one hundred percent more attractive without even trying. He wears tight khakis, showing off his butt.
I pick up his leather jacket from the chair on my way out, along with the car keys. I get in the car, and turn on the radio as I wait. He comes back out within a few seconds.
"My jacket?" He smirks raising an eyebrow.
"It's the middle of winter." I shrug pulling it tighter around me.
"Whatever you say." He says leaning over the console of the SUV to kiss my lips quick. "Here's to a fun, drama free dinner." He smiles.
"Can't wait." I smile.

We pull up to the restaurant. Where the valet parks the car, and we make our way inside.
The skinny man, who I recognize as the manager, greets us. He has a thing mustache, and a thinning hairline. I smile and look around.
"My two favorite customers!" He cheers. "The back room is right this way!"
Josh takes my hand and we walk along with him. People gasp quietly as they see us pass, a few probably take pictures. It doesn't help that we are holding hands in public.
"Here you be." The manager smiles as he nods to a table.
Because we're in LA, the restaurants are used to celebrity's coming and going. So, in their back room, they have tables, sectioned off with small dividers; kind of like the ones to change behind.
He pulls out my chair for me and pushes it in as I sit. "Can I start you off with anything to drink?" He asks.
"The best bottle of wine you got." Josh nods promptly.
"I can do that." He smiles and walks away briskly.
We sit in silence for a few seconds taking in the restaurant and then we pick up the menus.
"I always forget how many options they have here." I say quickly.
"Why are you whispering?" He leans forward holding in a laugh.
"It's so quiet and fancy." I reply.
My eyes waver over him, and the candle light hits him perfectly. It shines off his hair, I watch his eyes dance over the menu.
"The Alfredo here is great." He tells me catching my eyes. "Why are you staring at me?" He asks
"Your so handsome." I whisper shaking my head softly.
"I'm not." He replies. "Your the real eye candy." He smiles holding my hand across the table.
"You really handsome Josh." He smiles down at me, his eyes holding so much love. I didn't know eyes could scream that loud.
"Your beautiful." He smiles.
The manager comes back. "Hello guys! I brought wine." He smiles holding it up proudly.
He pours it into glasses, and sets it in an iced bucket. "Now, have you guys decided on something for your meal?"
"I'll have the Alfredo." Josh nods closing his menu and looking at me.
"Uhm.." I mumble looking around the menu.
"May I suggest tonight's chef pick." He says. "It's a spinach and mozzarella dish. It's really great. I'm having it later."
"Okay, I'll have that." I smile and close my menu.
"Excellent. Breadsticks for you both?" I nod and we both hand him our menus and he collects them in his arms. "Well my names Marcus, wave me down if you need anything. You meal should be out shortly."
He dips off, leaving me and the love of my life alone together.
"So, ready for the premier?" He asks taking a quick drink.
"I guess." I nod.
"You guess?"
"I hate the press." I say.
"Me too. Trust me." He says.
"I uh- I talked to Amy today." I say drinking my wine.
"What did she have to say?"
Marcus comes setting the breadsticks down and leaving without a word.
"She said she wanted us to be more secretive if this was going to continue." I say.
"Jen!" He exclaims. "We held hands in public! That ain't be secretive!"
"Josh! I don't care! I really don't. I love you and I'll be damned if they make me hide that!" I say loudly.
"I know that Jen. But we're celebrities. We have to play our cards the right way." He says.
"Fuck that." I shake my head. "I'll go right now and tell the entire fucking restaurant."
"Hey! Hey." He says grabbing my hand to hold me here. "I know you will baby. All that matters is that I know." He says softly.
"I'm sorry." I say softly.
"It's okay." He smiles. "I love you."
"I love you more."
"So, filming." He continues. "Are you ready miss Everdeen?"
"No." I shake my head.
"Why?"
"You aren't going to be on set." I pout.
"Oh yeah, I forgot." He frowns. "I can still come and see you guys."
"I know. But it won't be the same, you know that."
"Hell, I'll live on set if you want me to."
I smile but shake my head. "No, you should go do something else."
"Something else?" He raises en eyebrow.
"Audition for new movies." I suggest.
The food comes out, and josh begins to sweat a little. But I shrug it off and continue to eat. "The chef was right." I tell him. "This is really good, do you want to try?" I push a forkful towards him.
"No uhm- I don't eat spinach." He says nervously.
"Josh, seriously what's wrong." I say grabbing his hand.
"God I love you.." He whispers, he takes a deep breath and stands up. He walks to another table and grabs a chair coming to sit next to me. "I know I tell you all the damn time I love you, but I don't think you really get how much I mean it."
"I do josh I-"
"Hey." He smiles. "Just let me talk for a few minuets okay?" He says softly taking my hand in his.
"Okay." I smile.
"I have loved you from the first day I saw you on set. You were utterly beautiful. You always will be. And then I saw you act, and I was totally blown away. Your a completely different person. That's one of the reasons I fell in love with you. You become your character. You really convince me, and everyone that Katniss loves Peeta. I was only good at that, because I already loved you. So it isn't hard for me." I chuckle softly. "I don't want this to be an act for you. Like the movie. I want this to be real. And I think it is. Hell, I know it is. Now, I know it hasn't been easy lately. And we both know this won't ever be easy, but I think we're both willing to work for this." He says. He begins to fish around for something in his pocket. My breath hitches in the back of my throat. "Now, I know this ain't huge. But it's something for now." He fumbles with a box, and then opens it.
A small rose gold band, with a simple medium sized diamond.
I cup my mouth with my hand.
"Joshua." I barley whisper. "What is that?"
"Well, it isn't big. I know that." He says softly. "Someday I'll get you a better one. But for now, it's a promise ring."
"A p-promise ring?" I whisper.
"A promise that we'll never lie to each other. I'll be there for you wether it's four in the morning or four in the afternoon. A promise that we'll love each other unconditionally. It's just a - a promise." He says. He looks up at me, his eyes tearing up. I stay silent, tears pouring down my cheeks. I pull him into a kiss. "Is that a yes?" He chuckles softly.
"Yes. Yes." I laugh kissing him again.
"I love you Jennifer Shrader Lawrence." He says hugging me.
"I love you Joshy." I say still crying.
It isn't an engagement ring. But it's a promise right. And to me, that means a lot more. He wants to try. And so do I.
This boy means so much to me. I know this bond will last forever. Just like our love.
And just like Katniss would say, from that day forward, I could never shake the connection with the boy with the bread.
