Chapter 34
"I won't get either of you in trouble, just give me the directions and I'll find it on my own." She sighed.
"Its down the hall, take two lefts then a right. Keep going straight then and it'll be on the third door to your left." Ling Wan reluctantly said.
"...Mn. I got it, you can both leave now." She half-heartedly mumbled.
"Yes, Madam." They both bowed, before curtly leaving, closing the doors behind them.
'Okay! Enough being emo, I'm going to go and make a scene somewhere.' TaiFeng thought, rolling up her sleeves in a triumphant manner. Carefully cracking open the door, she peered outside the door and speedily dashed down the empty halls.
'If I'm going to be stuck here, I might as well stir up a typhoon.'
Briskly walking down the hallway she made a few turns, frantically peering behind her shoulder, in case she was being followed. Honestly, she'd really rather not have a hand around her throat for a second time.
TaiFeng may be extremely reckless, even more so than Wei Ying, but she wasn't unprepared. After her previous.... confrontations, she bought a dagger with a thigh strap. Even if she died, she was dragging someone down with her.
'Wen Rouhan. You harm the innocent, you tried to harm my friends, you tried to harm my disciples, you separated me from A'Huan. But most of all, you disrespected me. And so, you and your sons, will die at my hands.'
Walking further and further, going down numerous halls and passageways, she came to a ground-breaking realization.
".....Was it a left then keep going straight or?"
Yep, that's right, she got lost.
Feeling like the biggest idiot the cultivation world has ever seen, TaiFeng wearily turned around and proceeded to drag her sorry self back to her room. Wherever the hell that was.
'I got lost. Out of all the things that could have happened, I get lost. Not heavily injured, not mercilessly slaughtered. But lost. Lovely, superb. Absolutely fabulous! I might as well just die of shame... Peacock can never find out, I'll never hear the end of it.'
Practically jogging down the hall in a rushed frenzy, she did her best to try and keep quiet, which wasn't really working since she was wearing five layers of lavish Wen outer robes and a full headdress equipped with incredible noisy dangly bits which would easily give away her location.
And give away her location it did, because right behind her were two very confused Wen cultivators on guard duty.
"Who are you?! Your not supposed to be here?!" They both barked out.
'Crap, uh, what do I do?! Oh, god, this is how I die, isn't it?! Think, think!.... Wait a damn minute.'
"How dare you address me in such an audacious tone?" Taifeng hissed with a scowl marred across her face. "Do you know who I am?"
Sweat dropping and looking at each other, both of the guards gave each other a confused and scared look.
"I am First Consort Wen, Wen TaiFeng. I have every right to be here. Questioning me is questioning First Young Master Wen. Disrespecting me is fine, but are you questioning his authority?"
" I know Wen Xu took a Consort but... But I've heard of someone called Qian TaiFeng before... is she? "The guard whispered to his friend.
'Why is this woman so cold and scary?! She reminds me of my ex-wife.'
".. I think.. we shouldn't question it. I prefer my head attached to my neck. "His friend replied.
'At least this one is smart.'
"Apologies, First Consort Wen." They both bowed before running away at full speed.
'Oh my god! Did I just refer to myself as First Consort Wen?! And not just that, but Wen TaiFeng?! I I need to wash my mouth out with soap. Ew, ew, ew. A'Huan, please forgive me!'
Feeling a myriad of negative emotions, she huffed and puffed, walking away before a pair of arm snaked around her waist and spinning her around to face their owner. But they weren't the arms she wanted.
"You seem to be enjoying your new title." Wen Xu haughtily chuckled.
"Shut up. The day I acknowledge you as my husband is the day hell freezes over. And let go of me."
"Your still as feisty as ever, I see." He wryly remarked, not letting her go.
Looking her up and down in that disgusting way he always did, his eyes stopped when they reached her headdress, more precisely the gold and blue hairpin that so boldly clashed with the sliver and red hair ornaments.
"Clashes, don't you think? After all, a body such as yours is truly a temple, wouldn't you say? "
"My body may be a temple, but I am the god whom its devoted to. Don't tell me how to decorate my own alter. " She hissed.
'In layman's terms, go screw yourself!'
"I suppose it's a gift then." He sighed.
"Whether or not it's a gift is none of your goddamn business. And I said to let go of me."
"Ah, so it is a gift then! But from whom? One of your dear siblings, maybe? No, there all far too unsophisticated for that." He mused while TaiFeng rolled her eyes to the sky.
"Perhaps that Zewu-Jun?" He said, while TaiFeng's eyes lit up at the mere mention of his name, only to remember that he wasn't here, and she was alone without anyone.
"Ah, so it's from him then. It figures as much, he's always looking at you with eyes like a lovesick maiden. Sickening. but, no matter, you are mine now, and you will learn to love me."
'Nani the hell?! Lovesick eyes?! He must have just seen incorrectly.'
"I really wouldn't hold your breath. " She snorted, before being harshly pinned up against the wall.
"Wen Xu, "She spat, staring him down with slit eyes. "I'm getting tired of this. Let. Me. Go. This. Instant. Do you have any idea who your messing with? The only reason I haven't killed you, is because I'm upholding my end of the deal. However, I really don't mind breaking my promise. Let. Me. Go!"
Harshly throwing her aside, he fake adjusted his robes, dusting imaginary dirt off of his shoulders.
"Go back to your quarters, I'll visit you in an hour. I trust you'll find you way back." He ordered, before walking off.
"Whatever, loser." She snorted, getting up off the ground.
'I remember now, I was supposed to go left.' She inwardly sighed. ' But, I guess that can wait, I have more pressing matters to deal with.'
After almost half an hour of wandering around, she finally found her way back to her room.
"Shen Ming! Ling Wan!" She shouted, bursting though the doors startling the two girls who were preparing some bed linen.
"I'm tired, hungry, and just overall depressed. I need something meat based to eat. Can you two prepare something like braised pork, please ? Or maybe roasted chicken? If it's not a good time, you both can just do it later. Oh, and don't bother cleaning up, I can do that sort of stuff myself, thank you though."
The two girls were shocked. Clean up herself? This woman was the Consort of Wen Rouhan's first son, and she was going to clean her own room. Not only that, she was fine with waiting, she even asked them if it was a good time for them! And she said please and thank you! Neither Shen Ming or Ling Wan, had ever experienced basic etiquette or respect coming from a person of higher rank than them, or anyone, for that matter. Honestly, they were both a little teary eyed.
"...Uh, are you two okay? If its a bad time, I can just eat later."
"Sorry, Madam, it's nothing." Shen Ming said, snapping out of her daze, while Ling Wan was drying the corners of her eyes with her sleeves
"We'll both get your food immediately." They said, rushing out the door, looking a lot happier than they were before.
"Hm, those two seem nice." She thought aloud.
'This awful place will tear them to shreds. Maybe I could get them out somehow. But right now, I have to hide from my so called husband. Ugh.'
'Maybe I can hide in a courtyard. No that's dumb.' TaiFeng pondered, once again walking down a hallway .' Perhaps, the kitchen, no, that's even worse.'
Now, I know what your all thinking. Is she really going to aimlessly wander through the hallways again?
No. Well, not aimlessly anyway. She had a plan.
You see, TaiFeng is skilled at making talismans. Extremely skilled at making talismans. Making a spying talisman that only records when it detects a noise? Piece of cake.
She was putting those things all around Nightless City!
Oh, and did I mention the fact that anything the talisman picks up will be written down on her inner robes? Well, now you know.
'An organization that falls because of outside enemies can rise again. But one that's destroyed from the inside? That's well and truly dead. And I will destroy this sect.'
