"She doesn't have to tell you anything."

Zenix and Aphmau looked up at me. Aphmau had an expression of relief, but also worry. Zenix on the other hand looked shocked at first, then his expression turned into a smug one.

"Well well, if it isn't Laurence. The Shadow Knight ripped from the nether by a wyvern. The one who caused the death of the king of werewolves."

He knew about Ungryth, and the south eastern Werewolf tribe... 

"How did you know about that!"

"Word spreads fast around Ru'an. Plus do not think the shadow lord and his shadow knight have forgotten how you escaped the nether. I know all about you."

I leapt down from where I was standing with Michi.

"You know nothing about me."

"Oh really? Then why do I know about those, why do I know that you were the head guard of Meteli, why do I know you allegedly had a connection with that wyvern, why do I know that you risk everything for her, even your own humanity, when she may not even return you feelings? I might not know exactly everything about you, but I know enough about you."

I stood there, not knowing how to respond. 

"Why do you even do it, you could have saved yourself trouble by just forgetting her in the first place. Like I said, she might not even love you."

I finally knew how to respond.

"So what does that matter, she is the light in my darkness. I have no control over what she may feel, but I want to be there for her. Does it matter if she loves me? No, as long as I can be there for her I will. And that includes saving her from the likes of you."

I drew my sword and stood ready for battle. Aphmau looked nervously at me, as if she wanted to say more but couldn't. 

"Well played Laurence, engarde."

And so we fought.

Sorry it's been a while, school started up so I can't update as frequently as possible. Good news, if you consider it good, I know how this story will end and will be working on completing it. I hope you enjoyed.
