the mill

It had been Salem. When he killed that shape shifter princess and started a war between them and the demons way back, Lucifer exiled him and his followers. He kept rambling on about how he found me Lucifer will forgive him. I had to get away. I began to squirm and wriggle making it hard for him to drag me. He suddenly came to an outraged halt. He flung me onto the ground, with a loud thud. He stood over me and looked down, panting through his gritting teeth. He was furious. He lifted his arms over his head and began to thump me wildly, like a mad gorilla. I cover my face to protect it when he tried to punch. I could feel the red hot pain surge all over. Tears began to roll down my face from pure fear and pain. Where was Brison.

When he was tired and had taken out all of his anger on me he slowed down and stopped. He wasted no time grabbing my ankle and continue running to where ever it was they were taking me. I kept my hands over my face to protect it from the ground I was being dragged along. He ran for what seemed like forever, until we came to a mill. Oh god, were they going to hack me to death in a machine. Afraid to fight back, I aloud myself to be dragged in. The mill was not an abandoned one. There were signs of activity, but all the workers must have gone home for the night, but there was the loud hum of generators and static as the lights lit up one by one. I was pulled up some shaky metal stairs and into an office at the top. They forced me down onto a chair and bound my hands behind my back and tied my ankles to the legs of the chairs. The demons wondered about the room like excited animals. I was in so much pain from being beat up and dragged and I was dizzy from him pulling me by the hair.

Was Lucifer on his way here now? Where the hell was Brison? They must know that I'm gone. They have to be out looking for me. One thing they had to be, was here before Lucifer. How could they find me. The demons must have already planned on taking me here, how else would they have knew this place was here. Finding me would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I tried thinking back on every action movie I ever saw, every survival documentary, every murder case shown on T.V. There had to be a way out.

"Is Lucifer on his way?" I forced myself to ask.

I don't know what I thought I could gain from asking that, but I felt I had to.

Salem stopped and glared up at me. A quick swipe of his hand and he smacked me hard across the face.

"No questions," He hissed.

Red hot tears of pain, stung my eyes and scalded my cheeks and the flooded out. There was no way that Brison would find me. I was as good as gone. Would I be killed straight away when he got here or would he take me back to his kingdom to make an example of me. The longer I waited here, the more petrified I became. I must have been really scared, as I jumped out of my skin, even when the air conditioning on the wall automatically came on. I had to hold back a scream of fright when Salem coughed . Never have I been this nervous. That's when all the demons started coughing. At first it was gentle, but then it turned violent, like they were choking. They clawed at their own necks, gasping for air, as their faces turned blue. I looked at them in horror. What the hell was going on. As they each dropped to the ground in convulsions, I got a serious case od deja vu. One by one, they fell limp and I knew they were dead. Their wide eyes, empty as foam seeped out of their hanging mouths. Did Lucifer do this. Was her here now? I froze, absolutely terrified. I could not take my eyes off the dead bodies, when suddenly the door flew off the hinges and smashed against the far wall. There stood a man, in a ski mask. Was this Lucifer. He walked over to me and bending down, he undid the ropes around my legs. Then he untied my hands. He stood back in front of me and offered out his hands. I took them and he helped me up, but as soon as I was on my feet, my tired and sore legs turned to jelly and I was about to collapse onto the floor, but he caught me and swept me up into his arms.

I was too scared move or say anything, but I did look up at him. Most of his face was covered, apart for his eyes. They were not grey and hollow, like I had expected. They were warm and brown. I had see a pair of friendly eyes like this somewhere. It was itching me to know where I had seen eyes like this before. He quickly took me out of the room and glided down the stairs, carrying me like I weighted no more than a dried leaf. The front door was already open so we were of the mill quickly. He walked like he knew where he was going and not just stumbling about. Was there a car or something waiting. We were deep in the forest, when I heard people ahead. He quickly stood behind a wide tree and watched from the shadows as the people made there way up to the mill. They had the same sickly appearance as the demon prince Dalton, who had tried to kill me. None of them stood out as Lucifer.

"Is that Lucifer?" I whispered

"His guards," He answered.

That sparked something inside of me. I could feel that I was missing the big picture. That's when it hit me.

"You're the shadow. Aren't you," I said.

He took his eyes away from the people for a minute to look at me and nod. He then looked back at them. When they were a little up the path, the shadow began to creep away. I could not believe it. I was actually talking to the shadow. I was in his arms. He is real. This was so much to take on. I had only seen him once and I was not entirely sure it was him, but here he is. We had only been walked for a minute, when there was an eruption of screaming from behind us. Something was happening to those people. It did not bother the shadow, so I guessed he had set a trap for them.

I could not help but look into his eyes. It was killing me that I could not place them. We were back at the hostile in no time. He set me down on the porch and stood back. The door behind me swung open. I turned around to see Brison, Dylan and Megan. They quickly rushed to my side, but froze when they saw him. I could tell they were confused, so I just came out with it.

"He's the shadow," I told them.

I have never seen people so shocked in my whole life. They could not stop looking at him. They had the same hit of reality I had. The door swung open again and Patricia and Paris walked out. I had completely forgotten about them. How were we going to explain all of this to them. Would they report us for being crazy. Would they believe us.

"It's been a while," Said Patricia, with a smile growing across her face.

She was not looking at any of us, but straight at the shadow.

"It has," He answered.

Dylan, Brison and Megan looked at him in awe. He had actually spoken

just at that moment an other person emerged from the shadows, wearing a ski mask. It was hard to see with the dark, but there was something unusually about their figure.

"Hello," Said Paris to this new person.

It was only when they came right in front f us that the light of the house showed me what I was curious about. This person pregnant.

"I assume you've had an interesting little adventure," Said Patricia smugly.

They both peeled off their masks and revealed who they really were.

"You have no idea," Answered Red.
