the battle for life
She gripped my hand my while her other hand hovered over her stomach, trembling. No one else had heard her and were still worried about Arrow. I began to panic.
"The baby's coming," I shouted.
Everyone froze and looked at her. What the hell were we going to do. Paris and Patricia were the only one's with medical experience and they could not leave Arrow or he could die.
"Dear God," gasped Patricia.
"Get her into the next room. I'll be in as soon as I can," Said Paris.
I quickly helped Red out of the room and into the next. Brison picked her up and lifted her onto the bed. I propped some pillows behind her to help her. She began to pant and sweat badly.
"Breath honey," I said patting her head.
"Someone get her water. and lots of it-"I said.
"No," said Paris, as she wiped blood off her hands walking into the room.
What did they have to do to Arrow.
"Water will doing nothing. She needs blood," She said.
Panic took over Red, when she saw the blood on Paris. She began to pant harder.
"What did you have to do to him," She gasped.
"Tie her hair back. You concentrate on this baby and let Pat sort him out," She said.
"Ellie, will you give her some blood?" She asked me.
I was a little nervous, but now was no time to be scared. I rolled up my sleeve and held out my wrist to her. She looked up at me with big eyes.
"Thank you," She whispered.
Her hands clamped onto my wrist and she sunk her teeth in. It hurt a little, but now that I am a wolf I was better able to cope with it. I winced a bit at the pain, but I hid it not wanting to cause a fuss. Brison was getting worried looking at her suck the blood out of me. He stepped forward, towards me.
"That's enough," He said.
"No it's not. She's a wolf now. It won't harm her," Said a panicked Paris.
"No, I think she's had enough," He said growing angry.
"Brison not now," I ordered.
"You're getting paler. Red stop it," He shouted.
But she could not hear him. She was too focused on the blood. He came to walk towards us, but Dylan stopped him. I did not want to get hurt and I doubt anyone else wanted to see me get hurt, but this was for the greater good and everyone knew that except for Brison. He was blinded by the fact that I was his mate. I wish someone else had given her their blood, because even if I wanted to swap with someone else, her grip was too strong.
"Switch with me," Said Dylan rolling up his sleeve.
"I can't. She wont let go," I said.
His face feel into worry.
"I'll be fine," I said.
"TO HELL YOU WILL. YOU'LL FAINT," Screamed Brison.
I knew he was right, but I would be fine. I was stronger than ever before. I did not mind fainting for her after all she did for me.
"Megan, Dylan. Get him down stairs," Ordered Paris.
"NO," He screamed, going to run.
But Megan and Dylan, caught him just in time and dragged him out of the room. He screamed all the way down the hallway way and down the stairs. Luckily the both of them were strong enough to take him on.
I quickly became very light headed. I began to sway back and forward.
"Your a miracle Ellie," Said Paris as she removed Reds bottoms and underwear and threw a blanket over her from the waist down.
"Your doing fine Red," She said.
There was a sharp scream of pain from the other room. It was Arrow. We all froze. Paris quickly snapped us out of it.
"Concentrate girls," She ordered.
Red was no longer drinking my blood, but that did not matter. The blood loss was too great. I swayed forward and could not catch myself. I crashed down onto the floor and everything went black.
I woke up a little while later. I felt much better. But my head hurt a little bit from when I fell, but it was bearable. I could hear Sam. She was comforting Red. I got up off the floor and stood next to her.
"Pat needed help in there. There was no other option," Sam told me.
"Will she be back in?" I asked very worried.
"If she can," said Sam.
"Where are the others?" I asked, referring to Megan, Dylan and Brison.
"Megan and Dylan are still keeping Brison down stairs. Now that you're okay, can you go get them. We need as much help as possible," She said.
I nodded and rushed out of the room. I ran down stairs. I could hear shouting from the kitchen. They must have locked themselves in there just to be safe. I ran over and banged hard on the door to overcome Brison's shouting.
"I'm fine. Open the door," I called out.
I heard rattling on the other side of the door and it quickly shot open. Brison rushed out and pulled me into his arms.
"Are you okay?," he asked.
"Yes. I'm fine, but we're needed up stairs," I told them and we rushed back up. As we made our way up to the top floor we saw an exhausted Patricia, leaning against the wall trying to catch her breath.
"You okay?" I asked.
"I'm fine. Now Megan, Brison, in there with Red. Dylan Ellie. Come with me," She said.
Brison and Megan rushed into the other room and Dylan and I followed Patricia into the room with Arrow. His shirt was ripped open and his wound was bleeding heavily. There was open jars and powders and liquids everywhere and every light in the room as on.
"Dylan. Take these," Said Patricia, as she took two jars, one with a weird grey paste and the other with pink powder. She lastly picked up a bottle of clear liquid and handed them to Dylan.
"Put these in that pot over there. Put three scopes from each jar in first and mix it with that large stone. When it turns blue, then you and in about half of what's in this bottle. Stir it with the wooden stick and when it glows, call me," She said and he set about doing that on the table at the other side of the room.
"Alright Ellie. There are little potions in this jar, a bit like marbles. They don't mix well with oxygen, so when I ask for you, take one out quickly and then shut the lid," She told me as she handed me the jar.
We walked over to the bed, where a very limp Arrow lay. She gently opened his mouth.
"Now Ellie," She said.
I quickly took off the lid and took one of the squiggy marbles off the top and quickly shut the lid closed again. I swiftly gave it to Patricia who quickly popped into Arrows mouth and then shut his mouth closed. Second after he began to shake violently and foam began to seep out of his mouth, like earlier.
"I hope this works," Stressed Patricia as she wiped sweat off her forehead with the back of her hand.
"An other one please Ellie," She said holding out one hand as the other opened his mouth wide.
I quickly picked one out and shut the lid again, giving it to her straight away. She shoved it into his mouth and shut his jaw. He began to toss and turn his head frantically as foam pumped out of his mouth. This time it was an even paler white than before. She grabbed onto his head with both hands and struggled to open his mouth. When she finally did, she found it hard to keep his head still and stopping his mouth from slamming shout again.
"Ellie, you'll have to out it in," She said.
I was nervous. What if I made a mistake. Oh come on. Stop stalling, I told myself and rushed over to the other side of the bed. Patricia was struggling too keep his mouth open so I moved quickly, taking out one of those little marbles and this time after I shut the lid I quickly popped it into his mouth and Patricia le his mouth shut again. He stilled for a moment, but the began to thrust violently as even more foam seeped out of his mouth. This time it was even paler. Using some cotton buds, Patricia wiped it away carefully as not to dissolve it and then rubbed it into his wound.
"Dylan how's that coming along?" Asked Patricia.
"It beginning to glow now, but now very strong," He answered.
She picked up a bottle as she made her way over to him. He stood aside as she poured some think, black blood like substance into the bowl Dylan had been working at. She held her hands over the bowl and chanted something in a language I have never heard before. Steam began rise as this concoction began to bubble from heat. She stopped chanting and picked up the bowl and held it away from her at arms length.
"Mind back it's hot," She warned as she made her way back over to Arrow.
She set it down on the wheely table next to her and picked up a kitchen knife. She dug it into his wound opening it up again. Swiftly disposing of this knife and picking up the bowl.
"Hold him down," She said to us.
Both Dylan and I grabbed onto an arm each and pressed down hard on his chest. Very carefully Patricia began to pour this potion from the bowl and directly into his freshly open wound. He let out a howl of pain and this molten entered him. He began to wriggle in pain and the both of us struggled to keep him under control. She poured half of it in and placed the bowl back down on the table and fell down into the nearest chair.
"I really hate to tell you this, but we could have to do that again. If he starts puking up blood, we'll have to put it back in his system and hope for the best," She told us.
"How do we know he is heeled?" I asked.
"When he calms down and that wound closes up and it looks as though nothing happened," she told us.
We could hear Red scream in pain in the next room. Suddenly Sam shoot through the door.
"Come quick. The umbilical cord is wrapped around the babies neck and Paris can't do it on her own. This has never happened before.....we could loose the baby," She told us.
An exhausted Patricia got up from the chair she had fallen into only seconds ago. In the heat of the moment I forgot to ask her what to do if he started puking. But it was too late. Brison and Megan ran in and began rooting around the potions. After collecting what they came in for they rushed back out. Dylan and I took a seat as we listened to the panic in the next room and the screams of Red. It was so emotionally draining, but we had to keep going. Everything was still in our room, but the bad energy from next door seeped in, as we listened to the chaos.
Then the dreaded happened. Thick, black blood heaved up Arrow throat and all across the pillow. We wasted no second and jumped to our feet and rushing to his side. Pointing to the jar that I had been holding I said.
"When I say so taking one out, quickly close the lid and then give one of the like marble's to me. Be quick, they don't mix well with the air," I told him.
He picked it up and followed me. I opened up Arrows jaw wide.
"Now!" I said.
I could tell how nervous he was. Just like I had been, but we need to work together or we could loose, not only a family, but the royal bloodline. He took one out, shut the lid and quickly handed it to me. I took it and put it in his mouth and watched as it slide down his neck. Like before he, trembled and white foam came spilling out.
"An other one," I said as I opened his mouth wide.
I held out my hand and Dylan placed one in. I put it in his mouth again and watched as more foam, whiter foam came out as she began to shake violently. The foam getting whiter. He began to struggle, so it took all my mite to try control him and keep his mouth open.
"You'll have to do this one," I told him
He swallowed hard as he came up and put on in. After a second, black foam came seeping out. I stood frozen. What had we done. I watched as buckets came up his neck and across the pillow. After a moment, it thankfully turned pale white. I never felt so relieved. Taking a cotton bud, I did as Patricia had, and wiped it away gently and then rubbed it on the wound. Then taking the knife I opened the wound again. Setting down the knife I picked up the bowl. Dylan was already prepared to hold him down, so I began to pour it in. Like before he tossed and screamed. I found it hard to get it in, but thankfully I did. When I had poured it all out I set the bowl down. Dylan and I stood and watched to see if he would start puking again.
We could still hear Red screaming and sobbing as she knew she could loose her whole family in one night. I really hoped we had done it right.
Arrow calmed down and both of us watched him intensely. We both jumped from fright when he gave a little jolt. I felt my heart explode as I expected him to start puking up blood. But when the blood began to roll off his wound, and left his skin as though nothing had been their, I chocked up a few sobs. Then at long last, the wound began to close and Arrows breathing went back to normal as he went to sleep. I began to cry. Both Dylan and I threw our arms each other in cheer joy.
We had done it. He would live.
All went quiet in the other room. I felt my heart drop. All of the joy I had felt was gone. Here we were jumping for joy when......I looked down at the peaceful Arrow and dreaded what we would have to tell him when he woke up.
The loud cry of a baby tore through the silence and I dropped to my knees crying. Dylan sat down on the bed, with his face in his hands crying. After a moment I got up.
"We should go tell them that-" I said
"What's going on. What's that noise," Said a sleepy Arrow.
I gasped. The sound of his baby had woken him up. He sat up rubbing his eyes, slightly confused. He froze when he suddenly realised what the noise was. He looked to us for confirmation and we both nodded. Tears formed in his eyes as he struggled to get up. We helped him up and into the next room. I opened the door and Dylan helped him in. Everyone froze. Red looked as though she were at the gates of heaven. They were lost in each others eyes, until the baby began to cry again. They were in Red's arms, wrapped in a white blanket. Arrow effortlessly walked over and looked down at his baby. Red offered him the baby and he gladly took them.
"You're a father Arrow," She whispered to him as tears rolled down his face.
He smiled brightly at his wife.
"You have never looked more beautiful. We're finally parents," He said in awe as he looked back at the baby.
They were all cuddled up and sleeping peacefully in their fathers arms.
"Arrow, met baby Ruby," She said gently.
We had made it. It had been the longest night of my life, but through the window, you see the crack of dawn. We were finally out of the shadows and into the light at the end of the tunnel.
