crossed back over
It was cold, but it did not bother me as it once did. It made me feel awake. It was still night and we were still up the mountain. I gasped trying to fill my lungs with as much air as possible because for the first time in my life, they were empty.
"Calm down," said Red as she rubbed my forehead.
"I was dead," I said, turning to look at her.
Her face brought on serious deja vu.
"I saw you," I told her.
"Your not thinking straight, honey, but I don't blame you. You did just resurrect," she told me.
I had been in heaven. I think. Or somewhere like heaven. I had met someone. Or had I? Was it a garden? I could picture a garden and there was a strange feeling of responsibility on me but from where. Very calmly, the feeling slipped away and so did the image of this garden. There was white I think? No it was all black. There was a voice? No it was silent.
It was like I had been fast asleep. I closed my eyes, what seemed like a moment ago and now I opened them on the other side. The other side. Was that important? No, it's all over now, just like Red had told me.
"How do you feel?" She asked.
"Strong," I said.
Then I remembered.
"I'm a werewolf," I whispered.
There was a small noise from behind me and my ears pricked up. I had never felt so alive.
"Try standing up," she said.
I pushed myself up, like I weighted nothing. I took myself by surprise. I got up a little too fast and caused myself to feel dizzy. I wobbled a bit, but Red took hold of my arm.
"You're alright. Now how does that ankle feel?" She asked.
"My ankle?"
Then I suddenly remember. It was broken and I could not walk. But it was fine now. Like nothing had happened.
"Fine," I answered in amazement.
"The perks of not being human," she said.
"We're one of them now," said a voice from the shadows.
Megan stepped forward with a big smile on her face. She was not wearing what she was wearing earlier. How did she change. And why.
"It worked," I gasped.
"We're not going to be helpless anymore," she smiled.
That was when I noticed a claw mark on the side of her face. It looked like it had been there for a long time and was almost heal.
"What happened?" I panicked.
"Alright Ellie. Now here comes the important part. I'm going to help you shift for the first time," Said Red.
I turned to ask her what she meant. But suddenly, she smacked me hard across the face, digging her nails into my skin. She sent me flying off to the side until I hit a tree. With the impact, I could feel my inner skin rip through my human form. I jumped out and hit the ground, now on all fours. The world was clearer now and the fire inside of me was blazing. I panted, a little shaken from the transformation.
"You're fine. You're fine," she said, patting my back.
Honestly it was a comfort that she was with us. Megan came over and crouched down in front of me.
"Strange I know. But it's fine," she reassured me.
"Try walking," said Red.
It was harder than I thought it would be. It was difficult to move all four legs, without them tripping over each other. But I quickly got the hang of it.
"Now try running," she said.
That was easier than running. It was not physically draining like when I was human. My limps mover effortlessly. Powerfully. It was second nature.
I stopped after a second and went back to them.
"You're a natural," smiled Red.
"Now, deep breaths and think deflation," she told me.
"Have you ever mediated?"
"Yup," Megan answered for me.
"Right, feel every part of your being. Concentrate and let yourself go, like you're a balloon," she said.
I did as instructed. I could feel myself getting smaller and weaker. I opened my eye's after a second and was mortified to notice I was naked. I quickly covered myself. Red took out some underwear, shoes, a jeans and t shirt. I sighed in relief.
"Always prepared," I smiled as I took them from her.
"It's what I'm good at. Now when ever you want to change from now, just feel an explosion inside you. Sometimes it will happen on it's own, like when I hit you. Now that you know how it feels, you can do it with ease, but try keep it under control. Especially when you're angry. Come on. I'm sure Brison and Dylan are worried sick about you," she said, as I got dressed.
We started to walk back down the mountain and towards the hostile.
"Do you know how Arrow is?" I asked.
"No. I couldn't get a signal," she said bluntly.
She was trying really hard to keep it together. She must have felt better though that it was all over.
"Thank you," I said.
"Your welcome," she said.
"We owe you our lives. It was your experience and intellect that saved us all and brought an end to this war," said Megan.
"I'm glad I could help. And Megan. I have a proposition for you. I have heard about and seen you in action and I'm impressed. I am offering you a chance to train in my special forces. It will be a great advantage to your pack. Ellie as you are the Luna, people would prefer if you dealt with political matters, so Arrow would like you teach you the tricks of the trade. This is also a message to the other packs for not helping you. What do you think?" She asked.
"That would be amazing," I gasped.
"We would be honoured," said Megan.
We were back at the hostile soon enough. We walked in to see Brison and Dylan sitting on a sofa, looking as though the life was sucked out of them. Their faces lit up as soon as they saw us. They raced over and pulled us into a bear hug. Red ignored them and made her way up the stairs. She must have been looking for Arrow. Suddenly Brison paused. He pulled back and held me at arms length.
"What happened. Something's different," He said.
"Red was a genus. She figured out how to end this war," I told him.
"How?" He asked.
"This war is because we know and we're human. Well they can't have a problem with us knowing anymore because....." I said, nervous as to how he would react.
"We're werewolves too," I finished.
His eyes widened.
"How?" He asked.
I told him the long story of how she changed us. Of how we died and came back. And of how we shifted. When I was finished, he pulled me into a tight hug.
"I'm so glad you're gonna be okay," he said relieved.
"How's Arrow doing?" I asked.
"He's been out since we came back," he said.
We all went up to the room where he was to see him. He was out cold. Red had her head down on the bed as she grasped his hand. She was exhausted and all she wanted was her husband.
Paris and Patricia stood opposite her, with medical equipment all over the room along with different potions. Sam stood with them.
Suddenly, he began to tremble violently. Foam began to seep out of his mouth.
"The blades were poisoned," Said Paris in sudden realization.
Both of them rushed over and pulled the blankets off of him. They hurried around him. Red got up and slowly made her way over to us. She stood next to me. She brought her hand up to her mouth to stop the sobs as she shook.
Suddenly her face fell and she grabbed my hand.
"He's in good hands-"
"No. My waters broke,"
