After School Plans

I walked into the classroom, and immediately, a smile spread across my face. Sitting at her desk was Canila Cabello, the woman of my dreams. As I quickly made my way to my own seat, she looked up at me and grinned.

"Hi, Lauren."

My heart thudded against my chest at the sound of her soft and sweet voice. It took a lot of concentration to not stutter as I responded. "Hey, Camz."

Her big, beautiful brown eyes looked directly into mine, and I became slightly nervous, wondering if she could hear the thumping of my heart.

"How are you?" She asked as she ran a hand through her hair. I couldn't help but stare.

"I-I'm great, How about you?" I cursed myself for stuttering. It was extremely frustrating that after four years, I still haven't figured out how to act normally around her. How could one person make me this nervous?

The brown-eyed beauty giggled at my flustered state. "I'm good." She paused for a second, before continuing. "Hey, what are you doing after school today?"

"Nothing. I was gonna hang out at the library. I wanted to check out this book that I've been wanting to read for a while. Why?"

She tilted her head, and rested her chin on her hand. "Would you want to go with me to get some food? I was thinking Wingstop maybe?"

My eyes widened. "Sure!" I said almost immediately. I cleared my throat as my face heated up. "I-I mean, sure. Why not?"

Camila chuckled and nodded. "Okay, cool," she replied with a wink.

I bit my lip, trying to steady my breathing. 'I need to chill out,' I thought to myself as I turned my attention to the front of the room

Camz: Heyy

Camz: Meet by the bathrooms?

I grinned down at my phone as I read the texts from Camila. Before typing a response, I looked toward the teacher to make sure he was distracted.

Me: Yup.

Camila's reply came almost immediately.

Camz: Great! See you soon ;)

"Laur, can you hold this steady for me?"

I looked up at my best friend, only to see she was struggling to keep a slide steady as she examined it under a microscope.

"Ally, the clips are there for a reason," I sighed as I took her place. I looked through the eyepiece of the microscope to make sure the slide was in view, then adjusted the clips to keep it in place. "There. Happy?" I asked, backing away.

Ally hugged me and I stiffened. I wasn't a big fan of unwanted physical contact, and since Ally was, we have had countless discussions about this, but it never seemed to get through her head, because I have to pry her off of me.

"Ally, we talked about this, remember?"

"Sorry," the shorter girl giggled. "I keep forgetting."

"I know. And I keep reminding you," I said, rolling my eyes. "Anyway, guess who I'm hanging out with after school."

Ally hummed in response as she looked through the microscope. "Camila."

I raised an eyebrow. "How did you guess so easily?"

Ally chuckled, while she changed the magnification. "You only ever act this happy when you hang out with her. You have like... a specific facial expression. We call it your 'Camila face' because only Camila makes a smile that big appear on your face."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh, please. You know exactly what I'm talking about."

Right as I was about to argue, the bell rang, signaling the end of class, and the school day altogether. I shot up from my seat, grabbed my bag, and dashed out the door to the bathrooms. I did not want to waste any time.

I saw Camila leaning against the wall beside the entrance to the bathroom, distracted by her phone. Suddenly, my phone buzzed.

Camz: Where you at?

I smiled as I approached the younger girl. "Right in front of you," I said, making her jump.

"You scared the crap out of me!" She exclaimed, playfully smacking my arm. I laughed.

"Gotta keep you on your toes," I winked.

Camila rolled her eyes. "Shut up. Let's go before I change my mind." We made our way out of the school and began walking to Wingstop.

After 20 minutes of walking, we finally made it. I held the door open for her, and she giggled. "You're so sweet."

"How? I just held the door open for you," I replied, and she rolled her eyes playfully. "What kind of wings are we getting?" I asked as we approached the counter.

I stared at the menu, thinking fir a second. "What if we get a large 10 piece combo? You get 5 wings, I'll get 5, we can share the fries. Since it cones with only one drink, I'll get you one too."

"Hmmm.... sounds good."

Camila smiled sweetly at me and turned to order our meal. The cashier asked what flavors we wanted. The brown-eyed beauty looked at me, and I shrugged.

"Lemon pepper?"

She nodded and looked back at the cashier. "Lemon pepper and cajun, please."

The cashier nodded. "Alright, that'll be $17.58."

Camila pulled $20 out of her pocket, handing it to the guy. He gave her the change and our cups, and we were soon filling them up at the soda machine.

"Thank you, Camz," I said as I placed a lid on my soda. She didn't say anything, just smiling at me. "What?"

"Nothing." Camila sat down at a table, looking around. "Wow, it's kinda... empty in here."

I gazed around the room, noticing only now that we were the only people there. "It is, huh?" Camila didn't say anything, so I turned to look at her. To say I was startled when I caught her staring at me would be an understatement. "Uh... can I help you?"

She didn't answer, she just kept staring. She wasn't stating at my eyes though. She just sat there, leaning forward slightly, resting her head on her hand. Her lips formed a small smirk when she noticed I realized she was staring at my lips.

I felt my face heat up as images of Camila dragging me into the restroom to make out appeared in my mind.

Suddenly, she abruptly stood up, confusing me more. I then realized our food was ready, and I took a deep breath. 'Chill out, Jauregui,' I mentally scolded myself as Camila set the food down on the table.

"Eat up," she said, winking at me.

"Good god, I'd love to," I mumbled.

"You'd love to what?" The brunette asked, her smirk growing.

"Eat these fries! I mean do you not see how good they look??"

Camila chuckled, and popped a fry into her mouth. "These really are good."

"Yeah..."

We finished our food after a half an hour, and I leaned back into my chair, sighing happily. "Christ, that was delicious."

"Mmhmm," Camila agreed.

I looked at my phone for the time and saw it was nearly time for me to go home. "Camz, I'm gonna use the bathroom. I'll be right back."

The younger girl didn't respond at first, just staring at me again. After 15 seconds, she nodded. "Okay."

I stood up and walked to the bathroom, did my business, and then washed my hands. As I was drying them, there was a knock on the door. Camila's voice came through. "Lauren? You almost done?"

I unlocked and opened the door, coming face to face with the brown-eyed girl. "Yup."

The innocent look on her face quickly changed as she slowly pushed me back into the bathroom.

"Uh... what are you doing, Camz?" I nervously asked.

"Nothing..." she said as she turned and locked the door again. She spun back around to face me, and I ran a hand through my hair, unsure of what was happening.

"It uh..." I cleared my throat. "It doesnt seem like nothing..." I trailed off as she slowly walked up to me, snaking her arms around my neck. Before I knew it, I was against the wall. "U-Uh what are you d-doing?"

Camila leaned up, her lips brushing against my ear and she whispered, "What's wrong Daddy? Am I making you flustered?"

My eyes widened at the use of the nickname, and she pressed a gentle kiss to the side of my neck, causing my breath to hitch.

The shorter girl slowly trailed kisses from my neck up to my cheek, stopping right before she reached my lips. I looked her in the eyes, feeling slightly frustrated that she stopped.

She just stared at me, and I gulped, wanting so badly to close the small distance between us. Wanting so badly to finally feel her lips against my own.

I could tell she knew what I was thinking, because she giggled at my flustered state and then leaned forward.

It sounded cliche, but I swear to god, it felt like an entire zoo erupted in my stomach. There were fireworks. It felt so right. However you want to word it. Whatever the cliche is. Thats what it felt like. I had never felt as happy as i did in that moment.

After what felt like forever, we pulled away, just staring into each other's eyes. I chuckled as she winked at me once more and then backed away.

"That was..." I couldn't find the right words.

"I know."

I ran a hand through my hair, not being able to contain the grin spreading across my face.
