Lance woke up to his phone buzzing and looked out the window of his bedroom. Keith was standing in front of his driveway, calling him. Lance picked up.

"Yeah?"

"'Morning Sleeping Beauty"

"Hey Prince Charming."

Keith rolled his eyes. Gross. Lance was absolutely a princess, but Keith would never be a prince- well, okay. He would probably save Lance if he were in trouble and he would DEFINITELY kiss him, so yeah- kind of princely.

He shook his head. Right- say something. "You're gonna miss the bus." He said.

"I'm almost out the door- don't worry."

Keith looked up at Lance who dropped the curtain. Busted.

"Lance- I see you."

"No, you don't" He said, rolling off the bed and standing up in his boxers. He pulled a shirt on over his head and slid into his jeans. He ran down the stairs, threading his arm through his jacket sleeves and grabbing his shoes, jamming his feet in.

Mrs. McClain passed  a piece of toast to her son. He crammed it in his mouth and elegantly stumbled out the front door. He practically fell into Keith, who was waiting on the front steps now.

"Jesus McClain, I was about to break down your door already."

"Sorry." Lance said through a mouth full of buttered toast.

Keith smirked. Cute.

The boys walked down through their neighborhood to the corner by the main road where the other high school students were waiting. Lance stretched.

"Just a couple of weeks until you can drive us to school."

Keith smirked. "What makes you think that I'll drive you to school? You'll just make me late."

Lance pouted dramatically but it turned into a grin. "Well you can sleep over at my house every night and maybe then I'll have a reason to get up."

Keith looked at Lance directly. "You're an idiot." Yet he wanted to smile.

Both boys were pretty close to finishing their driver's ed hours and being able to test out for their licenses, except Keith more so than Lance because Lance kept hitting trash cans and gave his mother a heart attack so he was on a hiatus.

Keith only needed another couple of hours, but he didn't get any driving in at camp- he wasn't complaining.

Everyone at the bus stop was busy on their phones and listening to music. It was as if the two boys were the only ones actually waiting for the bus.

Keith had his hands jammed in his jacket pockets. "Oh yeah." He remembered, pulling out his right hand. "I still have my bracelet. What about you?"

"Always." Lance grinned, holding up his bracelet and emergency band. "Oh and by the way." He swung around his backpack and dropped to one knee to unzip it. He pulled out a yellow paperboard box. "Keith Kogane, we've been through a lot and you know me better than anyone." He looked up at his boyfriend. "Will you be my emergency contact?" He asked, handing Keith the box.

"Did you just propose to me with your epi-pens?"

Lance looked down to see himself on one knee. "Um... yes." It was an accident, but Lance was thrilled. He stood up as Keith slipped them into the front pocket of his backpack.

Finally the bus arrived. The students hopped on. They were the first stop and so they usually got the best seats on the bus. Being the oldest, they took presidence over the back row. Lance slipped his hands into Keith's and they both pulled out their phones. Keith handed Lance an earbud, which he put into the ear closest to Keith and twisted it into place.

Keith scrolled through his music before choosing a song and looking out the window. Lance was playing The Sims Mobile on his phone.

"Damn!" Lance cursed.

Keith looked over and frowned. "Dude- what are you doing?" He asked.

"Playing the Sims." He answered, honestly. "Look-" he said. "It's everyone from camp."

Keith bit his lip so he wouldn't smile. "That's so dumb."

Lance smiled. "Just for that, I'm not going to feed your sim."

"Thanks." Keith said, flatly.

They rode the bus the rest of the way to school, listening to different music and torturing the Sims on Lance's phone.

When the bus stopped and everybody stood and stepped into the aisle. Lance let go of Keith's hand.

"Keith-"

"I know."

The bus cleared and they filed out.

"One day we'll walk into school holding hands. One day- I promise." Lance whispered.

"One day." Keith replied.
