Chapter 16

"Leah!" I cried as the satyr held her back. He had a wooden spear and a laurel on his hairy horns.

"Let go of me, you scum!" Leah yelled, pushing the satyr back. He fell to the ground, his wooden spear knocked out of his hand. Leah quickly grabbed the spear while the satyr was still fazed.

"Let's not be h-hasty," the satyr chuckled nervously, realizing that Leah pointed the spear right at his neck.

Leah drew back her spear.

"You're right," she chuckled, with an evil gleam in her eyes, "let's not be hasty,"

Suddenly Leah turned into a different form. She now had pale skin, shining mint green hair, and dazzling brown eyes you could get lost in. She now wore a slightly transparent chiton with flowers instead of her pink jacket.

"My dear, why so pale?" Leah said in a sweet voice, helping the satyr up.

"My l-love!" the satyr cried, "I must have you!"

"Is that so?" Leah asked, pretending to be clueless, "I thought you were about to kill me."

"Forget that!" he yelled, scrambling to his feet, "I would give you the sun, the moon, and the stars! Marry me!"

"You are not fully committed to me," Leah said, looking sad but she had a smile under her lip, "you are no longer mine,"

"But I must have you!" he cried. Then before I knew it, the satyr drove the spear right through his chest in his grief. He fell dead on the grass as the sun set, his blood getting all over the flowers.

"Sucker," Leah smirked, and then she turned back to herself. The actual Leah. And I just stood there, my jaw wide open.

"W-what?"

"It's called false love, Amara. Now, hurry, the camp is under a raid!" Leah urged, I quickly nodded. We ran away from the dead satyr, running all over camp. There were hordes of satyrs everywhere.

"I don't understand, satyrs do dumb things they're drunk but not that drunk!" Leah shouted, driving her spear into another satyr, They're usually docile creatures! And how did they even get into camp?"

I gasped at her comment. The poison! Wait...the shrines! I looked around frantically, trying to pinpoint where we were. We were on the north side of the camp, I had to get to the shrines!

"I need to go!" I urged, Leah blinked.

"We should stick together, Amara! This isn't some stupid horror movie where everyone splits up!" she argued, gripping her spear.

"Sorry, Leah," I replied, "but I need to go solo for this one..."

I dashed off, into the forest in the dead of night. By now, the P.A. was blaring like crazy and there was even more yelling.

"Okay, I can do this!" I mumbled to myself, though I wasn't even sure what I was heading for, "I need to—AH!"

I bumped heads with someone, and we both fell to the ground, fazed.

"Ugh," I groaned, perking up. It was Hannah. And Thomas, Elizabeth, Cora, and...Kassie. Great.

"Amara?" Hannah asked, helping me up.

"What's going on?" I asked, and Kassie rolled her eyes.

"It's a raid, duh!" she scoffed, Elizabeth ignored her.

"Yeah, by hordes of the hundreds! Satyrs are coming from every nook! I'm afraid the shield might be down for all monsters to invade the camp," Elizabeth explained, Thomas chuckled nervously. I was glad to see him up and about, I hope he didn't make any drowning puns though.

"It can't get any worse right?" Thomas snorted, then CRASH! I glanced up at the sky, the shield was like glass, and it broke. Two winged creatures flew out, screeching.

They were red, had sharp talons, and had a woman's head but on the body of a bird...oh.

"THOMAS!" we all yelled, glaring at him for jinxing our luck.

"Harpies!" Elizabeth snarled, grabbing a throwing knife from her belt, "it's deadly, from the will of Zeus."

"Oh, of course, everything is always Zeus' fault!" Cora yelled, stomping her foot. The harpies stormed the skies, ready to swoop you up.

"We need to make our way to the shrines!" I cried, and Hannah nodded.

"Let's split up so they'll be divided! Cora, Kassie, you're with me. Elizabeth, Thomas, and Amara, you make your way down the trails! We'll take the stream!" she ordered, and we nodded.

"Good luck, Kassie," I mumbled as we broke up.

"I don't need luck..." she grumbled, running away.

Elizabeth led the way through the woods, quick like a hind. I'm no good runner but I was running for MY LIFE. But it was Thomas who was slow, limping behind. I glared at the moon, starry and dark, then suddenly, a shadow appeared in the moonlight.

"Harpy!" I hollered as the winged bird flew down at top speed.

"Just up this hill and—wait, where's Thomas?!" Elizabeth cried, panicked. We glanced back to see Thomas who was on the dirt ground, his crutches scattered.

"Your clumsiness will be the death of me!" Elizabeth scolded. Then a dark figure appeared a few meters from Thomas.

"Watch out!" I screamed, and the harpy emerged from the shadows. It had orange hair, deadly claws, and evil-looking eyes. I grabbed my dagger and threw it at the harpy, aiming for the eye. Instead, it hit its right wing.

"SCREECH! You little brat!" she shrieked, flinging her wings. Thomas scrambled to his feet, running to Elizabeth and me.

"Are you okay?!" Elizabeth snapped, and he nodded.

"Yeah—"

"All Tartarus will break loose! You dare defy the will of Zeus?!" the harpy laughed, pulling my dagger away from her wing. She threw it back at me, uh oh. Elizabeth caught it, inches away from my face. PHEW!

"Wait, the will of Zeus?" Thomas asked, confused, again. The harpy, who was also bleeding, laughed while screeching in pain.

"You think you can disrespect Zeus and not get punished? Weakling!"

"Disrespect?!" Thomas cried, "Is this about the poisoned shrine thing? Okay, listen up, go tell sky dad that it's not our fault and to shut the—"

"Enough!" she yelled in a tired and raspy voice, "I will make sure you never see the day of light again. Mostly since it's nighttime but still! You will die, DIE I SAY—

The harpy got knocked in the beak by a spear.

"Good thing it's nighttime since I'm your worst nightmare!" a voice yelled, and we glanced back. Leah? Wait, Leah! Thank god! There stood the powerful child of Aphrodite, in armor and a make-up bag in her hand. A make-up bag?

"I will surely defeat you too—"

The harpy was stopped mid-way, hit by a lipstick cap. What? Then Leah threw a make-up brush at the harpy.

"What is this, grooming items?" the harpy yelled, enraged.

"This just got weird," Thomas whispered.

"Hold on!" Leah shouted, taking off her heel, "Got one more! And—FLY YA LITTLE HEEL!!!"

The heel flew from Leah's hand and flew right into the harpy's eye. The sharp top piece stabbed the harpy's eye, bleeding.

"SCREAM! MY EYE!" the harpy shrieked, flapping in agony.

"What are you waiting for, you idiots?! RUN!" Leah yelled and we finally moved. We ran through the trails, shocked over what happened.

"You guys can thank me later!" Leah shouted, I panted.

"When this is all over, I'll buy another heel!" I promised, Leah shrugged.

"I hate heels anyways! They're so hard to run in!"

"I GET YOU ALL YOU BATS, THIS I SWEAR!" the harpy roared, catching up. But it was half-blind so it was honestly just smacking into trees.

"Look!" Elizabeth yelled, pointing to the feasting hall, "We're going to make it!"

The feasting hall was filled with demi-gods and lesser demi-gods, they were like in a circle. Like a kill circle.

We were out of the forest and into the circle of demi-gods. As far as I can tell, the younger, wounded, or weaker were inside the middle while the stronger demi-gods were on the outside to protect everyone.

"Leah!" Jarvis cried, glancing at her.

"Oh hey, got some more!" Leah yelled, gripping her spear. I bent down to the shrines, seeing drippy green stuff.

"Guys! Look—"

"GET THEM ALL!" the satyrs yelled, coming back. Gah! I totally forgot about the satyrs! We were trapped, with hordes of satyrs and two harpies flying over us. We were stuck.

"GO!" the satyrs cried, running towards all of us. Everyone scattered, running, punching, stabbing the satyrs. Basically like a free for all, there was no winning or losing. Well, we were sort of losing since we were outnumbered. Everyone, even the satyrs, promptly forgot the harpies. Crap.

"Clear! Make way!" Eleos shouted emerging from the shadows. She glowed with powerful aurora and her eyes gleamed in the moonlight.

"You WILL leave my pupils alone!" she yelled, grabbing a satyr by the chest, and yanking him off his stubby hooves, "Gather all your men and LEAVE! DO YOU WANT TO FIGHT WITH A GODDESS? OH, A FIGHT YOU WILL HAVE! GO AND LEAVE!"

"Y-yes!" the satyr cried, looking horrified. Eleos let him go and the satyrs ran for the hills. But some stayed to fight, but they looked so weak compared to our size.

"Yay!" I cheered, "we—"

I spoke too soon. Suddenly a harpy swooped me up with its sharp claw by my shoulder, lifting me in the air.

"AMARA!" Elizabeth hollered, dropping her dagger. The harpy brought me high up in the sky, its talons digging into my skin, I was bleeding. We were high above the trees and the camp looked like a pea. I was beyond scared for my life.

"Help!" I cried, holding onto the harpy for dear life, "let me go you dumb harpy—wait! Don't let me go—"

"You want me to let you go?" the harpy snarled, "Your wish is my command!"

"Wait—nooo!"

She dropped like a trash bag, leaving me to plunge to my death. Pressure squeezed my body, and my chance of living was very low. I shut my eyes, screaming as clouds faded away from me. I was going to die, no one could save me now.
