Day 6: July 4 (Saturday)

~ Daisy's POV ~

Peach, Toadette, and I are currently on our way to the place where we usually eat breakfast.

I walk a few feet ahead of them, not wanting to be fully engaged in their conversation. However, I do overhear some things.

"Oh!" Peach gasps. "Dettie, he's over there! Isn't he so cute?"

"I suppose," Toadette says. I may not be Toadette's best friend, but she has been really kind to me so far. It's ironic how she hangs with Peach most of the time, but Toadette and I sometimes talk whenever Peach isn't around.

I glance ahead at the group of guy campers, which Peach's crush is part of.

Yes, she has a crush already when we're only six days into the summer camp. She has been talking about him nonstop for the past few days. She is OBSESSED. I mean, he's just a normal dude with brown hair, blue eyes, and a bit of muscle... No big deal. Maybe I only think like this because I'm not boy-crazy at all.

Peach continues talking about who seems to be the love of her life as Toadette politely listens. Poor Toadette.

Minutes later, we reach the breakfast site and I quickly walk away from my cabinmates to join my own group of friends.

~ Dixie's POV ~

"We're going to the lake, girls!" Elaine informs us, smiling.

"Yay!" Mona stands up from her bed and heads to the bathroom to change or something.

"Thanks for telling us," Birdo grins.

Birdo is one of my closest friends here so far. She's almost two years older than me, and she's rather pretty. Let me tell you though, she loves doing hair and makeup and we usually talk about those things.

Mona's nice but I'm not very good friends with her so far. We tolerate each other and we talk sometimes, but she is more tomboyish than not and she usually hangs out with the guys and a girl from a different cabin named Daisy. The people I hang out with most are Birdo and Pauline, and the latter is also in a different cabin.

When Mona leaves the bathroom, I enter it. I decide to get lost in my thoughts as I change into my bikini.

I was dreading Camp Tanooki so much, possibly more than anyone else. My annoying twin sister, Tiny really wanted to come here though. My parents thought it would be a great idea to send BOTH of us to Camp Tanooki. So basically, it's my sister's fault that I'm here. Plus, my parents took away our phones! I was pretty much getting ready for a hellish summer vacation.

I still don't like being here, but I must admit that Camp Tanooki isn't exactly as bad as I expected it to be. I mainly think this because of the friends I've made. I'm rather reluctant to do most of the outdoor activities.

I quickly brush my straight, blonde hair and tie it into a ponytail before exiting the bathroom.

Maybe I have at least a little hope for this summer after all.

~ Mario's POV ~

I am just chilling in the lake alone when a girl approaches me.

"Hey, you're Mario right?" she asks me. She has blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. She's pretty, but I don't think she's my type.

"Yeah," I answer. "And you're Peach, if I'm not mistaken."

"I am!" Peach giggles. "How do you know?"

"First day introductions," I state. "You're cute, by the way."

"Oh..." Peach seems to be blushing now. "You are, too."

"We'll talk again soon," I tell her. "I have to go now."

"Bye," Peach waves as I swim away.

*two hours later*

"I'm gonna stop swimming already. Are you?" Waluigi says. We're in the  same cabin, and we get along pretty well. I guess we can be considered friends.

"No," I reply. "But, you can get out already. I'll see you later." Waluigi simply nods at me before pulling himself out of the lake.

Barely five minutes after I was left alone again, a brunette girl swam to me.

"Hi," she smiles. "I believe we haven't been properly introduced yet. I'm Pauline."

"I'm Mario," I respond.

"Sorry if you find it weird that I'm talking and introducing myself to you," Pauline laughs lightly. "It's just that here at Camp Tanooki, I want to make as much friends as possible."

"I understand," I say. "But, why's a pretty girl like you talking to a lonely dude like me? You deserve to befriend better people."

"Not necessarily," Pauline stops making eye contact with me for a moment. "I'd befriend anyone who's okay with me befriending him or her."

"Since you're here anyways, let's play 20 Questions," I suggested.

"Fine," Pauline playfully rolls her eyes. "I'll go first. How old are you?"

"I'm fifteen and nine months," I reply. "You?"

"I turned fifteen in April," Pauline says.

"Favorite color?"

"Red."

"Me, too."

"Why did you come to Camp Tanooki?"

"Just to experience being in a summer camp... And to meet new chicks," I wink. "Such as you."

Okay. So I'm a flirt. But long story short, I just want to be as different from my brother, Luigi as possible. I love him as my brother and all. I simply don't want to be associated with him in terms of personality. Just because he's shy and what not doesn't mean I am.

Pauline awkwardly laughed and looked away from me once again.

"I came here to make new friends," she told me.

"Are you single or taken?" I smile. Pauline seems cool so far.

"I'm single," she shrugs. "You?"

"I am, too," I reply.

Neither of us talk for about thirty seconds. Pauline shifts uncomfortably. Funny how I don't find this conversation very awkward.

"Well? It's your turn," I tell Pauline.

"Oh yeah," she chuckles quietly. "How's life back at your home?"

"It's alright," I respond. "I have friends. My grades are okay. My family life is fine. I get along pretty well with my brother most of the time. I guess my life is average. How about you?"

"My home life is kinda average as well," Pauline says. "I have decent grades, a group of friends, and parents that I love. Well, they didn't let me bring my phone to this camp but I still love them."

"Who are your closest friends here so far?" I ask.

"Birdo and Dixie," Pauline answers. "You know who they are, right?"

"I think so," I nod. "My closest friend so far is probably Waluigi. He's my cabinmate, so I talk to him a lot."

"He's the really tall skinny guy that wears purple most of the time, right?" Pauline questions.

"Yeah," I say. Then, I turn around and realize that all of the other campers are getting ready to leave the lake. Pauline notices this, too.

"We should go now," she states, exiting the lake.

"It was nice talking to you," I grin. "I'll see you around."

"Bye, Mario!" Pauline waves before running off to join her cabinmates.

I smile to myself. Pauline seems like she'd be a good friend. I just don't think I'd want to date her.

For some reason I felt a bit strange when I was writing that part in Mario's POV... Oh well, I just hope you guys like this chapter. I promised you a quick update so here it is! I have no idea when I can update next though. It's not that I don't have time, it's just that I simply might take a long time to write the next chapter. I will be doing one or more character POV requests in the next chapter. Btw I can now start updating on weekdays since my summer vacation starts on May 29! Anyways please add, comment, vote, etc. Thanks!
