Day 12: July 10 (Friday)
~ Toadette's POV ~
Two days ago, Toad and I got into an argument and we haven't communicated since. Who caused this to happen? I don't know. But, I don't think it matters anymore. We've never been on bad terms for this long before. And the sad thing is, I know we won't be back to getting along for awhile.
Knowing that Toad isn't there for me makes me feel.. Empty. Lately, I have found it harder for me to be genuinely happy no matter what I do.
I don't necessarily have to talk to him everyday to feel better. Like before we got into this fight, we didn't talk much at the camp. But, at least I was assured that we were on good terms.
I don't know what to do. A part of me doesn't regret anything that I did and is convinced that it's all Toad's fault. Toad is so nosy! He's always finding reasons to get annoyed with me! Besides, he used the statement that I have no friends AGAINST me! That was too much.
However, I know that I need to be confident and apologize to my brother. I'm sure this whole mess is at least partly my fault. Toad is right. I always complain about myself, yet I never do anything to change. I got mad at him when he was trying to help me out. I can understand why he's pissed at me this time.
Therefore, I think both Toad and I are to blame. I know that Toad wants me to be the bigger person for once and make the first move. But honestly, I don't know if I should. I mean, Toad might continue to pressure me. Now, I have a chance to be less dependent on Toad. Next time I speak to Toad, I want to make sure I am a better version of myself.
"Dettie, you're not thinking about that incident again are you?" Peach asks me. She and Daisy know about what happened between me and Toad. I told them to keep it a secret.
I just shrug at Peach in response.
"Let it go," Peach puts an arm around me. "You need to have fun, it's summer!Just relax, you'll feel better."
If only following her advice was that easy.
~ Dixie's POV ~
I'm looking for my annoying twin sister now. I haven't spoken to her since we arrived at this camp, and I'm only going to talk to her today because I have to tell her something important. If I don't tell her, she might reduce whatever slim chance I have of enjoying my time at Camp Tanooki!
I see her from afar and quickly walk towards her.
"Tiny," I grab her wrist and we go to a less crowded place.
"Yeah?" Tiny asks me as if she's expecting me to snap at her.
"I only need to tell you one thing," I state.
"What?" Tiny raises an eyebrow.
"Whatever you do, don't talk to that guy over there," I subtly point at someone who is rather far away from us.
"Why?" Tiny questions.
"Just don't," I answer. "If I catch you speaking to him, you better become afraid of me."
"Okay, Your Highness," Tiny walks away. Luckily for her, I'm not in the mood to get upset about her response.
Are you wondering who this guy is? Well too bad, I'm not telling you. But instead, let me say a bit about Tiny.
We generally look alike because we're twins, obviously. But, there are some minor physical differences between us. Tiny is taller than me and her hair is a bit wavy, and mine is completely straight. Our hair is the same shade of blonde. Plus, Tiny's eyes are blue. Mine are green.
And also, I know you think I must be the worst sister and maybe I am. However, you have to hear me out on this one.
Tiny always gets the attention... Which is ridiculous because we're twins!!! I have to act spoiled because the only other way to get attention from our parents and the other people is taken by Tiny! I can tell that our parents favor her rather than me. And I don't even know WHY everyone likes her more. She's more immature. She's not even that pretty. And she's just... Different from the rest of the girls our age. I can't really explain how, but she is. So you can call me jealous but let me tell you- it is not fun at all to be ignored, especially when the desired attention is instead given to your twin sister.
I hope that you understand now. And if you don't, then you must be biased.
~ Bones's POV ~
"Bones! Bones!" the familiar voice of my younger brother calls out from somewhere behind me.
I decide to ignore Koopa, since whatever he wants to say to me is probably not important. We only make small talk once every few days, or more like he makes small talk with me... But, that's besides the point.
"Dude, your brother wants to talk to you," Boo says.
"I know, just let him be," I reply quietly.
"Dry Bones!!!" Koopa suddenly exclaims. That's when I turn and glare at him.
"Koopa Troopa, do not address me by my full name," I snap, addressing him by HIS full name.
Did I ever mention how much I HATE being called "Dry Bones"? "Bones" is a far better thing to call me.
"I'm sorry," Koopa frowns, and I can tell he really is sorry. "But, you were ignoring me."
"Not anymore," I sigh. "What do you want?"
"You should make more friends here," Koopa suggests. "That also goes for you, Boo."
"Nah," Boo shakes his head. "Dude, we're fine."
"Come on! I promise you'll have fun!" Koopa gives us the grin of his that I know way too well. "Want to hang out with my friends?"
"Which ones?" I ask him monotonously.
"Umm, any of them," Koopa shrugs. "Just stay with me for the day, please. I want to introduce both of you to my friends."
"Thanks, but no thanks," I reply. "I am not mentally prepared for clones of you."
"They are NOT clones of me!" Koopa protests.
"Dude, we're doing well without any new friends," Boo assures my brother. "Firstly, we aren't exactly in the mood to talk to others and we rarely are. Secondly, no one in their right minds would want to waste time talking to us."
"Koopa!" a guy I recognize as Yoshi runs to us. Two other guys are right behind him. Boo and I give each other looks of annoyance.
"Perfect timing!" Koopa states, turning to us. "Bones, Boo, these are Diddy, Luigi, and Yoshi. I believe you guys haven't actually been introduced to each other yet."
Boo and I just glance at them in acknowledgment. There isn't really much else to do.
"Diddy, Luigi, Yoshi, these are my brother Bones and his friend Boo," Koopa continues. Diddy and Yoshi wave at us a little too enthusiastically, while Luigi looks down at his shoes.
Diddy, like my brother, is short and thin. He has slightly tanned skin and brown hair.
Luigi is taller than Diddy and has dark brown hair. He has blue eyes and a face that is almost always red, most likely due to embarrassment. I've known that last part since before.
And Yoshi has black hair and blue eyes. He is shorter than Luigi by a small amount, if not the same height.
Hey- just because I have enough intellect to describe what other people look like, don't assume that I am obsessed with doing so... And don't assume that I stare at everyone 24/7.
"Our cabin is going on a hike now, so I'll try to talk to you later!" Koopa says. Apparently, he and the three guys that were just introduced to me are all cabinmates.
"Oh, you don't need to," I try to tell him, but he and his friends are already several feet away from us. At least I tried.
Boo and I sit without dialogue for several minutes. It's not exactly a rare occurrence because we aren't the most talkative people.
"Dude, I know I've said this too many times but I can't believe you are related to that guy," Boo breaks the silence. Even the most stupid people would be able to tell that he is referring to Koopa.
"I know," I respond. "Be happy that you don't have any siblings."
"Dry Bones," Boo jokes. But, all I have to do is glare at him for him to shut up and for another silence to start.
~ Tiny's POV ~
I have a plan for Rosalina, so that she can realize that Mario probably likes her. This plan doesn't have a 100% chance of working, but it will be executed right about now.
"Rosie, I forgot something back at the cabin. I need to go there, but I'll be back," I say.
"Fine," Rosalina replies.
I immediately get up and leave. But instead of going to the cabin, I hide behind a bunch of bushes and a big tree.
Sure enough, Mario takes my seat after a minute or two. I would have squealed if I wasn't trying to hide. I can see them having a conversation, though it looks like Mario is talking more. But, that doesn't matter. THEY ARE TALKING! Mario is probably flirting like he does with other girls, or at least that's what I've heard.
They end up chatting all the way until dinner is over. Everyone is heading back to the cabins. I stand up from my hiding place and walk towards Rosalina as if I came from our cabin.
"Hey, sorry for leaving you alone," I apologize.
"I wouldn't say I was exactly left alone," Rosalina murmurs.
"What do you mean?" I ask, pretending I had missed out on the whole Mario and Rosalina thing.
"Mario came and talked to me," Rosalina states.
"Well, did you talk to him back?" I joke.
"Tiny," Rosalina frowns.
"Sorry. But, what was the conversation like?" I question.
"Umm, nothing very significant. We just got to know the basics about each other," Rosalina answers.
"There must have been SOMETHING important that came out of that," I say.
"Well... He did end our conversation with 'let's talk again soon'," Rosalina tells me.
"I told you!!!" I laugh. "He likes you and wants to get close to you!"
"One conversation does not prove whether a person likes you or not," Rosalina states.
"It's not the amount of conversations, it's how the conversations go," I reply.
"Wow, so deep," Rosalina shakes her head. "Whatever. He doesn't like me that way, I don't like him that way either."
"One day, you will believe me..." I say so softly that Rosalina can't hear me.
This camp is just full of denial, now isn't it? However, I still love it nonetheless.
~ Yoshi's POV ~
"Luigi!" I say once I arrive at the cabin. He, Diddy, and Koopa are already there. And I came from talking to other people.
"Yeah?" Luigi glances at me from his bed, which is one of the two bottom bunks.
"Come outside, I need to tell you something," I say. Luigi reluctantly stands up and walks outside. I follow him, closing the cabin door behind me.
"What do you want now?" he asks me.
"I found out when Daisy's birthday is," I inform him. It's obvious that Luigi becomes confused. I can understand why because it's not like I ever mentioned the subject of Daisy's birthday beforehand.
"Random much?" Luigi mutters. He is about to return inside when I stop him.
"It's July 23," I state.
"And you're still being really random," Luigi replies.
"Luigi, you need to do something for her birthday," I respond.
"What makes you say that?" Luigi questions.
"So, she'll like you back," I answer. "Isn't the answer obvious?"
"Whoa whoa whoa," Luigi shakes his head. "You said 'like you BACK'. You're assuming that I like her, and I haven't even said anything."
"Don't tell me you're still denying it," I sigh.
"What if you're believing a lie?" Luigi says.
"Fine. If you don't want to do something as a way to declare your oh-so-strong love for her, then at least do something for her as a friend," I tell him.
"A friend? I barely speak to her, how can she be my friend?" Luigi snorts.
"What do you have against her?" I would have exclaimed if I didn't need to keep this conversation a secret. "There's absolutely nothing wrong with liking someone, much less being friends with that person."
"Look, Yoshi. Just stop jumping to conclusions," Luigi tells me. "Please."
"Fine," I frown in disappointment because I know that Luigi really does have a crush on Daisy. "I'm sorry. But, why are you so scared of liking someone?" Luigi just smiles sadly at me.
"It's a long story," he states right before we enter the cabin.
Luigi has only been my friend for less than two weeks, but I can already tell that he is one of the most secretive guys I'll ever meet. I want him to know that I am trustworthy. I just want to help him become a better person, and I just want him to come out of his shell.
~ Birdo's POV ~
It is 9 p.m., which means that everyone has to be in their cabins and getting ready for bed in an hour. That isn't a problem for Dixie and I because we're sitting on the floor of our cabin in our pajamas. Mona isn't here yet, she's probably with other friends.
"Dixie," I speak up.
"What?" she asks without looking at me. She is focused on applying moisturizer to her arms and legs.
"I have a challenge for myself," I reply.
"Huh?" that's when she looks at me, tilting her head a little.
"From tomorrow to the end of our stay here, I should make at least eight new friends," I state. "People like Mona, Pauline, and others that we are already friends with don't count."
"That will be easy for you," Dixie murmurs.
"You never know," I shrug. "Besides, I moved here from somewhere far away. I need to start my social life!"
"What's your prize for winning the challenge?" Dixie asks me.
"Oh, I don't know," I say. "Having a lot of people to keep in touch with after summer break is already a prize."
"I guess so," Dixie shrugs. She finishes puts moisturizer on herself, and begins brushing her hair.
"Will you do this challenge with me?" I question.
"I'm not sure," Dixie replies. "Who are you thinking of befriending?"
"Well," I already have my answer, or at least most of it. "I'll try chatting with the friendly ones, obviously."
"Like?" Dixie suddenly sounds more interested.
"Toad, Diddy, Koopa, Yoshi, Daisy, Peach..." I pause before continuing. "But mostly, I wanna be friends with Bones and Boo. So there, I named eight people."
"I'm curious, why do you want to be friends with Bones and Boo?" Dixie questions. "It's not that I don't like them, but they're so... Unfriendly."
"I know," I smile at Dixie. "That's exactly why. I want to see if they'll let me be their friend."
"Good luck with that," Dixie replies, putting down her hairbrush and picking up her strawberry-banana-scented hand sanitizer. I roll my eyes at Dixie's actions, even though I'm sometimes like that as well.
"So, are you in for the challenge too?" I ask her again.
"Nah... But, there is one person that I want to start talking to," Dixie suddenly smiles.
"Who?" I respond a little too excitedly.
"You'll see in a day or two," Dixie winks.
"Okay then," I sigh. At least she's going to make one more friend.
And... I really will start my challenge tomorrow. Maybe I'll call the biggest and most important part of the challenge "Project Make Friends With The Antisocials", or PMFWTA.
Yeah, I'm just a complete weirdo. But, that doesn't mean I won't give up on getting as many camp friends as possible!
This chapter is more than 2,600 words long in case you were wondering. I wrote a long-ish chapter this time because I don't think I can update again soon. I will be on vacation from June 24 to July 1. I'm not bringing a computer w me, so it will be highly unlikely for me to update either of my current works since I usually update on a computer. Btw please follow Nintyler and Super-Mario99 if you don't already. And guys? I really appreciate comments so thank you to those who comment a lot. Anyways please add, comment, vote, etc. Thanks!
