Mess Hall
As you walked into the cabin, you couldn't help but take in the rustic atmosphere. The wooden walls, the smell of fresh pine, and the sound of the nearby river all added to the charm of the place.
Mina was already throwing herself onto the bed she had chosen, claiming it as her own.
You couldn't help but chuckle at her friend's excitement.
Momo, on the other hand, looked surprised.
You took note that she was complaining about how uncivilized the cabin looked. Due to Momo's suitcase and how she dressed, She clearly looked like she was used to luxury and comfort. And this cabin looked like it was far from what she was used to.
"I can fix this, maybe a little makeover will be fine," Momo said as she slowly sat on the bed.
You chuckled at Momo's comment.
Mina rolled her eyes at Momo's suggestion, "believe me, Y/n, she did it last year," Mina told you.
Uraraka put her suitcase on the bed and began unpacking.
You joined her, placing your suitcase on the bed near the front door to the porch. You didn't mind the bed's location, as it gave you a nice view of the surrounding nature.
The wooden walls of the cabin were adorned with posters and pictures that the previous campers had left behind. The bed you were leaning against was made of sturdy logs and had a cozy quilt draped over it.
You couldn't help but feel a sense of calm wash over you, knowing that I was finally away from the chaos of school and the stress of home.
Midnight stood at the door, leaning against the frame. "So, are you girls good in here?" She questioned, standing upright.
You nodded, you loved the place already.
"I think you guys know the way back, just follow the trail and the directions, ok?" Midnight stated as she left the cabin, the creaking of the porch's steps revealing her exit.
You let out a silent breath, looking at the others.
Momo was exploring the cabin while Mina was lying on her chosen bed, not even giving a care to her bag on the floor.
This was it.
Momo reappeared into the room. "What kind of camp is this?" Momo exclaimed, looking around in disbelief. "No bathroom? How are we supposed to survive?"
Mina and Uraraka couldn't help but laugh at Momo's dramatic reaction.
Mina threw a pillow at Momo, still laughing, "it's just a bathroom, we aren't going to die."
Momo's initial shock to into a look of disappointment. "Ok, but don't complain when we have to use the bathroom outside. In the forest."
Uraraka chuckled at the comment, trying to keep herself out of the conversation.
You finally spoke, "I think there are bathrooms...just not the ones you are thinking about."
"See," Mina said as she sat up in her bed. "We'll survive, cavemen pooped outside so why can't we?"
There was an echo of disgust around the room, including from you.
You did not want to do your business outside where everyone could see.
Uraraka sat down on the edge of her bed, "let's stop talking about bathrooms and try to enjoy what we have right now, like...let's get to know Y/n."
You cocked your head over to Uraraka, raising an eyebrow in complete surprise by what she had said.
You looked over to see Momo and Mina's eyes lit up with curiosity.
Now everyone was staring at you, they were now curious about you.
"How about...what's your favorite color?" Momo said as she opened her suitcase, picking out the clothing neatly and putting it into the drawers.
You sat there for a moment thinking, "I'd say maybe f/c."
Mina nudged your shoulder, "that's a nice color, good choice," Mina stated.
They soon started to bombard you with questions about where you were from, your hobbies, and what you were looking forward to at this camp.
You were taken aback by their enthusiasm, but you found yourself opening up to them without hesitation.
As the four of you continued to talk, you realized that these girls were genuine and kind.
They were genuinely interested in getting to know you and not just making small talk. You all laughed and shared stories, and you felt like you had known them for much longer than just a few hours.
Suddenly, there was a loud blaring sound that made you jump out of your bed and the girls giggled at your reaction to the noise.
You blushed in embarrassment, slowly sitting yourself down on your bed.
Uraraka explained to you, "that's the mess hall bell, they do that three times a day...well, of course they do. We do have to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner."
"Oh, ok," you responded. "Should we go?"
"Definitely if we want to be first," Mina stated as she stood up, already racing out the door. "Last one to the mess hall's a rotten egg!"
The three of you stared at each other for a second, seeing who would move first.
You made the first move by standing up and soon you three were pushing each other to get out the door first.
The sun was shining brightly, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement and laughter.
You were running down the trail towards the mess hall, with Uraraka close behind you.
The three of you were panting and giggling, trying to catch up with Mina, who was leading the pack.
Mina seemed to have a competitive streak in her, since she wanted to be the first one to reach the mess hall. But today you were determined to win.
You could hear Uraraka and Momo's footsteps getting closer, and you knew they were trying to overtake you.
You picked up your pace, your heart racing with adrenaline.
The trail was lined with tall trees, and the sound of birds chirping filled the air.
You could feel the cool breeze on your face, and it was refreshing.
As the three of you approached a bend in the trail, you saw Mina up ahead, running to the mess hall. You pushed yourself harder, your legs burning with exhaustion. You could see Momo out of the corner of your eye, and she was gaining on me. But you were not going to give up.
With one final burst of energy, you sprinted towards the mess hall, passing Mina by just a few steps. You tried to stop yourself but your legs felt like jelly, you collapsed on the ground, trying to catch your breath. You could feel the dirt on your cheek as you slid down.
Mina, Uraraka, and Momo joined you, panting and laughing.
Mina shouted, "wow! We'll definitely win the running games with you!"
"What do you want?" Momo said to someone.
You looked up to see a boy standing right before you, hovering over you.
"Nothing, just staring at a bunch of idiots," the boy spat, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
You squinted your eyes at the boy, trying to get a better look at him.
He had spiky blonde hair that stood up in a messy style, his eyes narrow and sharp, with a bright red color while his whole face showed features of a scowl.
"Hi, I'm Y/n," you said, extending your hand to him.
Uraraka quickly slapped your hand down for some reason.
The boy scoffed at you and said, "whatever, fuck off." He turned around and walked off, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he did.
You sat yourself up, wiping the dirt off of your shirt. You were totally confused about the boy, "what's up with him?"
"Total egotistical and selfish guy, he acts like the world revolves around him," Mina bluntly said, not giving a care to how rude it sounded.
Momo added, "he tripped me last year."
"No, he didn't. Stop lying," Uraraka responded.
Momo gasped in disbelief, "he totally did."
Mina gave out her hand to you and you took it, she pulled you up easily which caught you off guard.
You wiped the brown dirt from your shorts and knees, maybe you shouldn't have slid onto the ground.
Mina continued the argument, "if it was anyone, it was his partner, Denki."
"Not like he even thought of him as a partner, I definitely think that Bakugo told Denki to trip me."
"It was a three-legged race, of course someone's going to fall," Uraraka said as she rolled her eyes.
Mina then started to chuckle, "it was kinda funny how Bakugo dragged Denki across the floor."
"I felt bad for Denki," Uraraka told you all. "But he's just too competitive."
You stood there totally confused of who and what they were talking about. "Who's Bakugo and who's Denki?"
The three girls turned to you, just remembering that this was your first year here.
"Oh, sorry, Y/n," Momo apologized for Mina and Uraraka.
Mina just crossed her arms and she bitterly explained, "the person you'd just met was Bakugo. You'll see him a lot but you'll hear him more."
Momo and Uraraka giggled at this.
Mina continued, "...Denki's a bit better when he can actually use his brain."
"Yeah, don't shake Denki's hand, he'll shock you," Uraraka warned you as she shook her head, audibly living a memory again.
Mina put her arm in yours, leading the way to the mess hall, "I'll introduce you to all the girls."
