Whew! Chapter One is Finished!

Almost as soon as I had unpacked in the Hermes Cabin, Travis and Conner threw me a bright orange T-Shirt that had Camp Half-Blood spelled in bubble letters on it, along with a pair of loose black shorts and sneakers. I changed in the bathroom , then quickly modeled it for the Hermes Cabin. Next, it was time for dinner.

I sat at the Hermes table beside Cami, who generally seemed to like me. At least, she was friendly. On my other side sat a girl who said her name was Sadie. She had long and sweeping raven-colored hair and brown eyes that were as sweet as chocolate. She had in between pale and tan skin, and she wore a thin coat of make up.

Sadie was laughing at Cami's jokes while I was staring off into space when they both gasped, jaws dropping, and stared at the air above my head. I felt all eyes turn on me , and I looked up to see a symbol of a bow and arrow floating above my head.

Chiron trotted forward and announced "All hail Starling, Daughter of the Sun God." So I'm daughter Apollo ? I wondered blankly, staring at the symbol. It started fading. Once the bow and arrow was completely gone, Sadie patted me on the back, "Bye." She and Cami gently shoved me to the Apollo table.

When I got there, a bunch of really graceful looking pretty people sat me down and smiled joyfully , yet didn't speak up. "Hey." said a girl about my age, twelve, her olive green eyes shining with excitement.

"Oh, Hi." I answered , studying her for a moment "and your name is?" She was tall and slender , with really long legs and long ash blond hair she had pulled into a fish tail braid.

"Brenda Sparks." she answered bluntly, smiling all the way through and through as she suddenly sneezed.

"I'm Starling Carter." I answered flatly and stuck out a hand that she quickly took in her own as she shook it.  

Brenda smiled lightly, "So, we're, like, Sisters. that's kinda cool"

"Yeah, I guess." I muttered with a selfish shrug.

Just as Brenda was about to answer, a boy a little older than me walked over to are table, his dark face shadowed and grief stricken. "Hello, you must be Starling. My names Nico."

"Um, Hello." I answered, blinking. he's scary.

Nico grinned darkly, obviously sensing my fear," Nothing to be afraid of. I am a child of Hades, not a monster."

I felt my cheeks tint dark pink, "I never said you were a monster!" I exclaimed feeling my face grow even hotter.

Nico smiled " That's more than most can say. Usually, they run screaming." he began to twist his fingers together.  Then he sighed , his face filling with cold "I must go." he walked to the Hades table without another word.

I stared after him , then looked at the table. Brenda was chuckling lowly and I demanded, "What?"

Brenda Sparks laughed, "Nico And you would make a really cute couple, that's all!"

I rolled my eyes and exclaimed "I just met the guy!"

Brenda just smiled, and I was sure I caught a glint of jealously flash in her olive colored eyes as she began to eat her food. A small tap on my shoulder startled me, and I spun around to face a girl about my age. She had wild ,dangerous, yet still beautiful and misted sky blue eyes and waves of bright gold for hair. She wore the regular- Half Blood T-shirt, jean shorts and sneakers. "Hi. My names Skylar." she told me and smiled.

I grinned, "My names Starling. Nice meeting you!" I suddenly felt a pair of eyes lock on me, and I spun around to see Nico staring. I felt my cheeks grow hot , and I quickly turned to face Skylar again.

Skylar grinned, "Well, Enjoy your stay at Camp Half-Blood. Its a dangerous adventure with each step!" She quickly turned and sat at the Hera Table. I watched her go,then looked over at Brenda, who  was gulping down her dinner. As soon as I'd finished my own food, I headed outside and to the lake. The water shimmered and naiads played happily, giggling giddily. 

I smiled to myself and leaned back a little. Suddenly, a quiet voice sounded beside me, "Beautiful, isn't it?" I twirled around to see Percy standing there. "Yeah, its pretty." I answered. 

He plopped down beside me and sighed, staring out over the lake, and followed his gaze but only saw H20. Percy quietly admitted, "Annabeth and I haven't been speaking much. That is, until we brought you. I think we're back together."

I wasn't quite sure why he had opened up to me like a flower opens its petals ad it grows, but I just nodded and murmured, "I guess relationships can be hard."

"Certainly!" agreed Percy with a light laugh one had to admire. "But I really love Annabeth" I Blinked. "Uh, cool?"

Percy smiled, "Sorry. I'll chat with Grover about this later."  His sea green eyes returned to the lake as they shifted away from my face. Then he stood up and murmured, "I'm gonna go. See you later." He jogged of. 

Almost as soon as he had left, I got to my feet and took one last look at the glimmering lake's surface before I quickly walked to where the Apollo Cabin was located. Inside, I chose a top bunk over a girl about my age who said her name was Lizabeth Woods.

Liz was tall and slender, with long light blonde hair and dark blue eyes.
