Avery's POV

"I'm sorry Ms. Blue but all the evidence points strait to you." She paused giving me a sad look before continuing. "You, Avery Marie Blue are proven guilty." I looked up into the disapproving eyes of the judge.

My eyes had run out of tears to cry as I walked slowly out of the court room with my mom.

"Listen Avery, you'll be okay. Your not going to jail, prison, or juvie." She adds as if it's something to look up to. Although it's true in not going to prison or anything. I didn't know at the moment but I was going somewhere much worse.

I was going to Camp Green Lake.

My mom wiped a tear out of her eye as she pulled me into a hug. I looked back at my little house for the last time as I climbed into the old bus that was to take me to Camp Green Lake.

"Goodbye Avery, be safe, always write." My mom calls. I nod my head.

I clutched my backpack, which contained some paper, pens, and some articles of clothing as the old bus pulled out of the little street. I discovered I couldn't take my phone this morning and cried over that to.

It was one of the hotter summer days in Texas. I wore an old short sleeve shirt and a pair of denim shorts. The bus felt 20 degrees hotter in side like some kind of human microwave.

A man with dark sunglasses and hat stood at the door of the bus, oh did I mention he had a gun. I soonest realized he was there to guard the exit. But why? Right they think I'm some kind of psychopathic killer. Anyway Mr. Sunglasses Hat Gun was in a argument with the driver, I hadn't really been paying attention to them until now. Mr. Sunglasses glanced and shook his head at me before continuing his argument.

"She won't go anywhere." Sunglasses says.

"I still say cuff her, like the rest." The driver says.

"I'm tellin' you she ain't going anywhere!" Sunglasses raises his voice. I'm starting to like this guy as least he doesn't want to 'cuff' me.

"Okay then, but if we get in trouble with the Warden its all your fault." The driver says before going quite. The Warden? Sounds like some creepy old person guarding prisons. Sunglasses nods before going silent for the rest of the trip. I look out the stained window to see the dust filled Texas desert, before I drift to sleep.

                              •••

I step out of the bus to see a barren land of dirt. The heat hits me immediately. There looks like there might have been a lake here at one time but not now.
Mr. Sunglasses walks me over a little office like building. Apparently psycho killers can't walk by themselves.

"Another one?" A man behind a wooden desk says not even looking up from his magazine.

"Well, sort of." Sunglasses says, giving me an odd look which was either pity, or disappointment probably both. The man behind the desk looks up at this statement. He raises his eyebrows at me before saying.

"You must be Avery Blue."
