Accidental Get Together
After breakfast, I took the kids to sign in for the day. None of them were in my centre, which meant I only had to deal with one immature child today-
Parker.
As soon as I walked into Centre C and saw Parker, I felt the rage from earlier crawling back up my chest.
Just looking at him made me want to scream in frustration.
Putting that frustration to use, I slipped into my training kit.
I had been given a pair of running leggings and tracksuit bottoms, along with a personalised top which had-
'Camp comfort
Martial arts
2017'
-Written on the front in small black font against the burgundy back round, and 'Lane' written in block capitals across my shoulder blades. Below that, a 18 made of the names of every counsellor that was employed that year.
Once I was finally ready, I stepped out of the bathroom I had previously used as a changing room, and went in search of Parker to confront him about this morning.
Although when I finally found him, our first session had already begun to arrive, so I thought it best that I wait until after.
Unfortunately Felix didn't fit into the time-table this morning so it was just Parker and I taking training today.
Our first group ranged between 15-17 year olds; the seniors.
"Alright everyone, quiet." Parker started, making the room grow silent.
"Incase you don't know me, I'm Parker and this is Ivy; we're going to be your instructors for this activity.
Before we start, I want to see a raise of hands of anyone who has done something similar to this- so self defence, boxing, kick bowing, ju jitsu- anything along those lines."
Not a lot of people raised their hands but it was definitely more than I was expecting.
"Okay, well whether you've done this before or not, we're going to start with the basics. At the end of this session, Ivy and I will come round each person and see your progress then next time you will be split into groups.
Beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Our other instructor, Felix, will be taking beginners. I will be taking intermediate.
And Ivy will be taking those in advanced."
Something tells me that grizzly over here is a little bitter that he doesn't get to take the advanced class.
"From there, we will be training you based on your ability- you can be moved up and down groups and at the end of the summer, those who want to participate in the annual sparring competition are in for the chance to win this years prize; $200"
I hadn't realised how spoiled these kids were until I saw the reactions to the prize money; none of them gave a flying fuck.
"I know it's not as much as last year-" how much was the prize last year?! "-but you know, cut backs and all.
Anyway, to start why don't we all get into pairs? You have 2 minutes and anyone without a partner will be assigned one - go."
Seeing this as my chance, I followed Parker to the side.
"What's with this morning?"
He looked up at me with a sigh. "What?"
"My alarm didn't go off-"
"Shit one for you then." He said not looking at me.
"Like you didn't do it." I crossed my arms.
He paused. "You think I snuck into your room and turned of your alarm? Are you serious or fucking with me right now?" He squinted his eyes at me, finally turning around to face me.
"I'm serious. How else wouldn't it have went off?"
"Here's a theory- maybe you just didn't set it?"
"I think I remember setting it- plus the time was stuck at 3:47, meaning someone came in and turned it off."
"And you think I would lose out on sleep just to play some stupid prank on you?" He scoffed. "No, I was out of it at that point."
Before I could say anything else, he stood up and walked towards the group putting the remainder of people into pairs.
I decided to drop it for now and focus on the kids- the rest of the day was boring, considering I had to do the same techniques over and over again. Although it wasn't too bad since Felix was there to help out.
I had lunch from 12-1 then I was on lifeguard duty until 3. It was pretty uneventful; no one drowned but there were a surprising number of fights over pool noodles. I swear some of the kids are vicious.
I had a few hours off before 7 which was when I had to get the kids from their groups and bring them back to the cabin until the camp fire later- I was hoping to go back to my cabin and relax but unfortunately, Parker had other ideas.
"What the hell is this?" I ask, my eyes narrowed.
"What?" Parker smirked, playing dumb.
"Something is a little different from when I left this morning, don't you think?" I asked rhetorically.
"Hmm, nope. I don't see anything different."
"Well for one, they're weren't a bunch of people here earlier!" I shouted.
"Oh you mean them." He trailed off as if he only just understood why I was upset.
"Yes, them! Who the hell are they anyway?! I know they aren't counsellors."
"Well, I had the computer suite with my group for a while and took advantage of the internet and free cabin." He smiled tauntingly.
Breath Ivy- just breath.
"Okay. Parker I'm going to ask you nicely, just this once, to remove these people from our cabin."
He faked a thoughtful face while humming. "Mmm yeah- no."
You want to play it like that- okay. Fine.
"What happened to 'no parties'?" I regurgitated the rule book.
"This isn't a party- it's a small get together."
"It's a small get together that pissing me off. Seriously Parker either you ask them to leave or I will."
"Will you now?"
"Yes." I sighed.
"I don't think you will." He smirked crossing his arms.
"I don't think you want to test my patience right now Parker."
All he did was stare with that stupid smirk on his face.
"Fine." I mumbled before waking over to the remote and turning off the tv, and stopping the music.
Immediately everyone started complaining and looked in my direction.
"Alright everyone." I started. "I'm sorry to say this, but you're going to have to leave!"
The group stared at her before going back to talking as someone restarted the music.
"Great job." Parker taunted.
Practically growling with anger, I stopped the music again.
"Sorry, I didn't know this room was full of complete and utter morons! But, incase you didn't understand me the first time, I said get the hell out of my cabin! Anyone who isn't out of here in the next 20 seconds will be meeting my best friend." I said, grabbing a bat from the corner and swinging it a little.
It was then that people finally started to leave.
"You know, that wasn't very good hosting."
Keeping my back to him, I twirled the bat in my hands. "I suggest you get the hell away from me Parker before I used this goddamned bat on you."
He laughed before heading to the kitchen and fumbling around in the cupboards.
A suddenly knock at the door made the us glance at each other before I headed over. Opening the door, I was greeted with Andy.
"Oh, hi Andy. How are you?" I tried making conversation.
"I'm just fine, thanks for asking. Although, I seemed to have noticed a distinct group of people just leaving your cabin? That wasn't a party was it?"
I felt my palms sweating in nervousness.
"No." I fake smiled. "Of course not. One of Parker's friends from back home hacked into his Facebook, and thought it would be funny to send people our way looking for a party.
We just informed them that it was a misunderstanding and if they wanted a party they'd have to go elsewhere." I lied swiftly.
Andy stared at her before slowly nodding his head. "Okay, Parker Just make sure this doesn't happen again, okay?"
"Of course." He nodded his head stiffly.
"Okay, I'll leave you two to it. I'll see you with you're groups at the bonfire later."
"By Andy." I smiled before closing the door. "I hate you." I said, turning to glare at Parker.
"You lied."
"Yes." I furrowed my brows.
"For me."
I rolled my eyes. "I'm not Satan, I can be nice at times."
"Debatable." He mumbled.
Scoffing, I turned to head to my room before his voice stopped me again.
"Thanks. I mean it."
Sighing, I turned to face him. "Consider it a peace offering; I'm tired of bickering with you 24/7 and I don't think I could deal with a war between you and your little brother."
Chuckling at the last part he nodded his head. "Okay, truce?"
"Truce." I agreed, continuing to stand there awkwardly.
"So does this mean we're friends or?" I asked.
"I wouldn't say friends, just yet."
Even though he said we weren't friends, it was the 'yet' that I focused on.
At least it meant there was hope that we'd be civil one day.
With a nod, I headed into my room for a well earned nap- not forgetting to set an alarm on both my clock and my phone.

A/N
Okay, I know I haven't posted in- what? 4 months? And I'm incredibly sorry about that. I'm also sorry that this is a really shitty, short chapter but I promise the next one is going to be a hell of a lot better.
I've been distracted by my other book and my school work will eventually be the death of me. Because of that, I'm not going to promise that I'm back because knowing me I'll say that then come back in like another 4 months say "oops sorry!"
Anyway, I'm going to try and update regularly again, alongside my other book. I'm off for Easter right now and I would usually be writing a hell of a lot but I'm still stuck up to my eyeballs in work.
I've started with the next chapter and hopefully it won't be too long before it's up.
Until then,
Byeeeeeeeee
