Avi
The blonde dropped onto his bed face-first after slamming the door, pretending to be mad at his housemate when, in reality, he couldn't ever be too mad at him.
"I know you're not mad at me!" his best friend, aka his roommate, yelled from downstairs as he turned off the device playing a sappy love song.
He laughed into the blanket on which his head rested, knowing that he knew him quite well. He had to, what with their closeness over the years and them being the best of friends. They had even created a web show through their joint YouTube channel labeled Sup3rfruit.
They had shared the deepest of their thoughts with each other but the counter tenor seemed to be keeping something from him of late. He hadn't missed the sneaky looks the boy gave the oldest of their A Cappella band and certainly was curious to know what was going on but he wouldn't pry until he was ready to tell him, by which time he was sure he'd tell him.
The baritone's face flushed when he remembered that he hadn't told Mitch something either. He hadn't informed Mitch of the thoughts that occupied his mind of late. They were thoughts of the man he had a crush on, their bandmate. He had absolutely no trouble in admiring him as there were uncountably many laudable things about the man, and foremost was his deep voice that hadn't ever failed to give him goosebumps from the very first time they'd met, from the very first 'Hello'.
There hadn't been a moment when he'd ever not liked the man, and he'd tried several times to inform him, but it had never worked out. Something always stopped him from coming out with it, two definite contributing factors being his hesitation and his fear of being rejected as the man hadn't come out as not being straight so he feared his chances were low with him.
He was just going to have to ask him once and for all, and he'd ask Mitch to help him. He decided not to bother him about what he was hiding as he seemed so happy and that was what he wanted. That, however, didn't stop him from hating love songs because they boasted of everything he didn't have and, he'd convinced himself, probably wouldn't have.
He remembered that Mitch had been so curious as to why he acted out of sorts of late, and definitely would've noticed his obvious distaste towards songs he used to love earlier. He hoped Mitch wouldn't attempt to ask him before he spoke to Avi because he wasn't sure how that could play out. Then again, Mitch could help him express his feelings, and that only led to him being severely puzzled as to what to do.
Mitch yelled up the stairs at him to be ready as they had to leave in fifteen minutes, citing the show they were scheduled to perform at that very evening. Scrambling up to his feet, the tall blonde rushed to change his clothes. He knew that his face would be made up by the crew before the show so he merely washed it before stuffing his phone, wallet and earphones into his pocket.
He had a habit of getting ready ahead of time just so he could tease Mitch about the latter being late when he was, in fact, on time. This deed was one of the highlights of whenever they had to go out together and one he greatly enjoyed as he felt Mitch was far too cute when he was flustered or angry. The two would then hug it out, as always, and head out.
He considered telling Mitch right off the bat about his feelings for Avi as he ran down the stairs but his thoughts vapourized into the air as the boy was already standing in front of the main door, a huge smile dawning on his features at the shock on the older boy's face.
He tossed the baritone his car keys and told him they'd do well to be on their way soon. Laughing at the boy's antics, Scott pocketed the keys before grabbing a bottle of water from the kitchen and going out to the car, locking up the house behind him.
Becoming more hopeful at the thought of Avi accepting him, Scott sang along loudly to the songs playing on the radio as they drove to Esther's. Mitch was rather startled as he was about to suggest they turn off the radio as all the stations would be playing the same sappy love songs but was happy that the boy was so cheerful and sang along.
"Just say yes, just say there's nothing holding you back
It's not a test, nor a trick of the mind
Only love!"
