"We are surprised that the government isn't paying attention to the severe damage that is caused by the disorganised construction. The lower areas are turning to swaps, people are suffering from floods, yet the government is still keeping their eyes closed. We are waiting for their next step regarding this matter," Chohee highlighted certain words as she read the news, wearing a stern and observant expression.
"And cut," the live news broadcasting ended as the tall male director announced. The cameras slid away from Chohee and the green screen behind her. The bright flashes switched off, letting her eyes adjust to the normal lights.
Chohee ran her fingers through her silky smooth straight hair, tying her hair that was freely fallen on her shoulders, covering the back of her neck. She tucked her turtle neck blouse a little as the radiation of the light blubs were making the atmosphere extra hot than normal.
The rest of the staff started chatting, creating a buzz in the room that was quiet all this time as it was finally their break. With clinks and clatters, the pieces of equipment were drawn away, taking them to their usual places. Chohee mounted from her seat, rubbing the back of her neck.
While Chohee was heading to her restroom, thinking about the entrance of another hectic week, another person made his presence in the same building.
Taehyung stuffed his hands on his pocket, sauntering rather in a relaxed manner. His face was gleaming from his usual charming smile. His chocolate brownish hair bounced as he started taking longer steps, two at a time in a playful manner and gleefully jogged to the canteen straight.
Taehyung knew Chohee would be finished with her broadcast by this time. He bent to the counter and looked through the glass that kept the customers apart from the workers.
"Two iced americanos please," he slid his hand to his back pocket, fishing his wallet to pay for the two drinks he ordered.
"Oh, by the way, isn't the broadcast over yet?" he asked the lady who had a round face with black beetle eyes.
"They just finished I guess, look, the other staff members are heading here," she pointed to the team that was strolling their way. She took the two drinks from the coffee machine and handed them to Taehyung, returning the balance change to him. She got ready to acquiesce to the next customer as she already served Taehyung.
The guy grabbed them in his hands as his legs ambled towards the usual spot he preferred meeting with one of his favourite colleagues at work. He pushed the glass door by his shoulder, being careful not to spill the coffee on the carpet underneath his boots. Chohee lifted her head, sluggishly, hearing the door being opened and the thump of footsteps nearing her. Her face lit up as she espied her dear acquaintance.
"Hey, Taehyung," she rose her upper body, throwing her head in the leather chair. Taehyung placed the two plastic cups on the desk, dragging another chair closer to hers. Chohee immediately snatched one drink from the wooden flat surface.
"So, how did it go today?" Taehyung casually started talking, asking about her recent event. She smacked her lips, taking a sip of her iced coffee.
"Nothing much, just as usual you know," she said, tucking her bangs behind her ears. She gazed at him, "Nothing special ever happens to let the world know. How about you? How're things going for you?"
"Busy life," he chuckled. Taehyung rested his head on the seat, closing his eyes slowly, representing a drained yet peaceful phase of his structure.
"You look tired," Chohee commented, comprising her concern in her words. He hummed, ruffling his hair, making it messier.
"You know what? Being a chief editor is harder than I ever thought." As he started talking, Chohee clenched her jaws, and her eyes had a deeper gaze rather than the normal enlightened one.
Chohee and Taehyung were coworkers for years and best buddies for life, perhaps. They started their career together, chasing their goals of being the best journalists and editors. But, with time, Taehyung had sharpened his skills, climbing the ladder of success, reaching the top with his naturally rooted talents.
And Chohee, she was stuck in her position as a news teller. As she was working for years, she perceived that she had hidden talents in news telling, being a narrator than a story digger. Unlike her, Taehyung was good at talking to people and searching out information about the kinds of stuff he found interest in.
She was indeed happy for him to reach the milestone of his career. But deep inside, there was somewhat jealousy and envy buried as her internal threats that she didn't show outside. She was the happiest for him, yet there was a low-key agony throbbing her heart like daggers, daggers which spilt poison of resentment in her more and more.
"I'm sure you'll soon get used to it, Tae," Chohee said after gulping the lump, swallowing the envious thoughts with it. She has to be a true friend for him, she can't let her sins get over her, no matter what her fate would delusion her vision to. Taehyung never treated her or rather looked down upon her even though she was his junior. So she had to pay back somehow as a matter of fact and prejudice.
"To be honest, I love being a photojournalist," he said with pouty lips, landing his long eyes on her. Chohee chuckled, nudging his elbow.
"But it is somewhat tiring too," he bit his lips, pretending to be penitent.
"Yah, stop whining like a baby," she seized her hand that gripped the plastic cup. "Cheers for our chief, Kim Taehyung," she playfully said, making the opposite guy giggle.
"Cheers," Taehyung added, taking another sip. They started chatting, talking about the latest news about the upcoming events they are supposed to host. They would've continued talking if a knock wouldn't have interrupted their chatter.
"Miss Chohee, it's time for the next broadcast," a raven-haired hopped into the room, calling the female on the cushioned chair. He tapped his wristwatch, making the other two discern the fact that their time was up. Chohee gazed at Taehyung, pursuing her lips together. He smiled with a nod.
"Let's meet later then," Chohee waved her hand before she vanished from the room.

Taehyung reached his office and plopped down on his chair for commencing his work. There was a lot to do as the editor since he had to go through all the articles one by one. The sunlight that poured through the transparent glasses, smooched his skin, making him feel cosy in the air-conditioned room. He nibbled his chin, getting immersed in his work. Taehyung had a peaceful atmosphere to run his job, without any kind of intrusion from anybody.
After hours of work, Taehyung stretched his stiffened body, trying to get rid of the numbness in his legs, probably caused by sitting in the same position for so long. He cracked his knuckles, letting out a long yawn.
Out of the blue, his phone started vibrating, making his attention get drawn towards it. He tardily extended his hand to reach the flashing device. Scrutinizing the name displayed on his phone screen, he swept the screen, accepting the phone call.
"What is it, Jungkook-ah?" He inquired from his partner, wondering why he would dial at this time.
He usually never called when they were working. Jungkook was one of the busiest in their crew, the photographer. He was always running here and there like an energised bunny, capturing each and every thing that was important to them. He was the perfect man for this job, indeed.
The other guy expressed, vocalizing from the opposite end.
"Actually, hyung, do you remember the lens I borrowed from you?"
"Yeah, what about it?" Taehyung asked, getting curious about the theme. Jungkook's voice was filled with hesitation, somewhat guilt was coated in them as he talked further.
"Well, I told you it was for my junior, right?" he was going on rounds, not getting into it straight away as he felt something coming up from his receiver. Taehyung was getting a feeling that something had gone wrong, from the way he spoke. He could sense it even better by the deep voice that answered him.
"Kook, stop beating around the bush, tell me what happened," he heard Jungkook letting out a sigh.
"He was careless, he dropped the cam, thankfully the camera didn't get damaged but," his voice sealed down.
"But what?"
"There's a small scratch on it, I'm really sorry hyung, I shouldn't have given him such a responsibility," Jungkook started apologising, a slight regret flowing through his words across the speaker. Taehyung caught his hair, perceiving that he was right about something which must have gone wrong.
It wasn't Jungkook's fault though, he couldn't put the blame on him completely. He inhaled a deep breath.
"Bring it to my house, let's see what we can do, ok?"
The other male timidly agreed with him, "Alright."
Taehyung hung up and kept his phone away. His gaze shifted to the wide glass window on the side.
Looks like he had to say goodbye to his favourite camera and switch to a new one. He stared at the orange shaded evening sky, submerging in his thoughts.
To be honest, it was just a camera that could be replaced with any other one, not necessarily that he was being mad for no reason. It was the camera that he had been admiring since his high school days, so yeah, there was some slight attachments of his heart with it.
Soon, the large bright star dived below the horizon, spreading a fog of darkness all around.
