Chapter Nine
( unedited! i'll edit soon for sure xx )
"I didn't know you knew Calum like that." Josaline laughed as she fixed her hair. "Are you guys close?"
"Yeah, he's practically family to me now." I laughed and she crossed her arms as she looked at me. "Ready for this?"
"Ready as I could ever be." She nodded after putting on some lipstick. "By any chance... do you know if Calum is free tonight?"
"Not sure. Ask him." I shrugged and then recited my verses over and over again in my head. "Why? Are you interested in him?"
She looked at me and then winked. "Why, are you jealous?" She asked and I shook my head honestly.
"Of him? Never." I laughed and then walked away. "Got a beautiful girl only a few blocks down. Not saying you're not pretty, but I'm tied down man. Calum can do whatever he wants."
"Aw Con, you're sweet." She laughed and I shrugged. "So, shat's the Mrs. working on today?" She asked me and I felt her rest a hand on my shoulder. "Photoshoot?"
"Nope, her fashion line with a few other people." I smiled fondly as I thought about her. "Proceeds go to a local charity for helping transgender young adults transition and get what they need to feel comfortable in their skin. Ever feel like a nice person, buy a shirt or two."
"I might just do that." She nodded and a crew member told us that we had two minutes before we had to go on stage. "I'm nervous."
"You sing on stage all the time."
"Well yeah, but it's never been with someone as famous as you. You're up there with fucking Machine Gun Kelly and shit." She scoffed and I snorted.
"Wouldn't say that. I haven't been making music for that long." I scoffed as I put an earpiece in. "Besides, I'm famous for dumb YouTube videos of dumb challenges and stupid parody covers. Really, don't be nervous at all."
She thanked me and I closed it behind me as I rolled my sleeves up to my elbows. Unlike her, who went with tight burgundy bodysuit and tall boots, I kept myself covered up in my skinny jeans and a semi-tight Henley shirt. We couldn't look too different since we were performing as a duo, so we found common ground in our colour schemes.
I smiled nervously as the host introduced us and then took a deep breath.
Fuck I'll never get used to performing.

"How was your presentation of your family tree you guys?" I asked as the kids got inside of the car.
"It was so much fun!" Nani shouted excitedly as she buckled her seatbelt. "I love presenting because the poster was so pretty."
"I don't like presenting." Kaleb huffed as he crossed his arms and closed the door. I chuckled and he buckled his seatbelt. :I hate presenting."
"Why's that bubba?" I asked him and he looked at me.
"I don't like people staring at me, daddy." He told me and I smiled sadly as I started the car. "There's like... thirty people in our class! They were all looking at me! It's scary."
"I'm sorry, Kaleb. I knew it's hard." I sighed and then turned the radio up a bit. "It'll get easier, I promise. I used to hate being in front of people too."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I hated people looking at me and staring at ms, now look, all I sant is attention." I laughed as Giselle began calling me. "Hold on, mama's calling."
I answered it, and I was immediately met with Gi's angry voice booming through my speakers, courtesy of my auxiliary cord "Ooh Connor, a bitch is really testing me. I'm about to put her in her fucking place if you don't come by and stop me."
"Watch your language, the kids are in the car." I scolded and she scoffed.
"Take the phone off speaker."
"Giselle, I'm driving." I told her and she was silent. "Don't hurt anyone. You look good in orange but you won't look good with a criminal record."
"Hit her!" Nani shouted and I widened my eyes as Giselle laughed loudly.
"Kanani, that's not-"
"That's my babygirl." Gi told us and I shook my head as I turned my blinker on, looking over at the lane beside me. "No but really, daddy, can you come pick me up? I'd drive but I have a flat and a leak so it's in the shop right now."
"Alright. I'm on my way. Don't do anything stupid."
"Stupid? Oh baby, I may be reckless, but I'm not stupid." She told me and I rolled my eyes.
I'll see you soon, dad. I love you, Con."
"I love you too, babygirl. I'll be there in ten minutes." I promised and she hung up.
"Daddy, why does mama call you daddy?" Nani asked and I chuckled.
"Cause I'm old and your guys' daddy, princess, that's it." I told her and she nodded. "We have to pick mommy up, she's stuck."
"Gives me time to sleep." Kaleb yawned and leaned his head on the window. "Good afternoon." He hummed and I laughed.
"Good afternoon, bub."
-
"She's really fucking trying me, Connor I want to bash her face in." Giselle said and I looked over at a blonde girl. "She's trying to shove her culture appropriating ass, racist ass, and loud mouthed ass down my throat saying that the models I hired are too dark."
"Calm down-"
"Like bitch my queens of color will fucking rock magazines and my fashion line. Who does she think she is telling me how to do my job? I've been doing this since is was eighteen. She's been here three weeks-:
"Giselle, stop." I told her and she took a deep breath as she fanned her face. "She's not worth the time and the grey hairs."
"I'm sorry." She apologized and held her hand against her forehead. "I'm just don't want ignorant ass people like her to get on my case! I don't even know should she is!"
"The kids are in the car waiting for us. Let her do her thing, and tell her to let you do your thing. Everything's not a big deal." I sighed and she pulled away from me.
"Are you calling me over dramatic?"
"I'm saying to stop being so focused on someone you don't like and to just pay attention to your fashion line." I corrected and she crossed her arms. "I understand why you're mad, but just let it go."
"Fine. Only because I have a career and a reputation to keep up." She huffed and I held her hand. "How's Calum?"
"Dunno. Last he said to me was that he's so bored he bought a fidget spinner that costed as much as his dining room table." I shrugged and she laughed as we left the building.
"There's starving kids, homeless families, and Trump is president and he's wasting his time and money on a fidget spinner?" She asked and I nearly snorted.
"He's Australian. I bet he couldn't care less that Trump is president. He's here cause' LA is the big city everyone goes to. Once you made it in LA, you're automatically famous." I told her and she nodded.
"Where's the lie?" She asked and I opened the passenger side door for her. "Aww, you're cute. I'm driving."
"What? No-"
"Um, yes." She nodded and stole the keys from my front pocket. She spanked my bottom and I turned around. "Sit that ass down, Connor. Let me drive."
"I hate you."
"Shut up, I'm the girl of your dreams. You couldn't hate me even if you wanted to." She stuck her tongue out at me and I sat down on the passenger seat.
"Hi mama." Nani smiled and Gi turned around to kiss her on the forehead as I shut my door. "Can we go get donuts?"
"I like the way you think. Yes we can."
"No we can't because we haven't even ate dinner and you're trying to eat sweets." I huffed and they bout pouted. Their wide brown eyes and jutted out bottom lips making it impossible for me to deny them.
Fuck.
"Fine. Let's go get donuts."
"Yay! Thank you daddy!" Nani shouted and Giselle gave me a kiss.
"Thank you daddy." She repeated and I rolled my eyes as she buckled her seatbelt as she began pulling out.
She wrapped her hand around my thigh and I took a picture of it to post later. "I may as well wear some heels and a fucking skirt. I'm a bitch now."
"Now? Honey, you've always been my bitch." She shook her head and I looked out the window, wondering why this is the woman I decided that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
