Chapter One

Storm was staring at the ceiling in her bedroom, lost in her thoughts of her up and coming graduation from school. In two days, she and her friends would be leaving their high school lives behind and begin preparing for college. She was looking forward to studying law and joining her father's firm, Ashburie Dawson. It's a big stretch of time, but she couldn't wait. Just the thought of being a lawyer and working along side her father got her blood pumping with excitement.

Stretching she glances to her clock and notices she still had two hours before her parents were expecting her. She gets up and heads to her bathroom to shower. Once finished, she walks to her room and straight for her closet. She dries her body as she browses her wardrobe, hoping she had a dress nice enough for the restaurant her parents chose. She finally grabbed a dress and some shoes to go with it, before walking over to her vanity. Deciding on leaving her hair in its loose curls and no make up, she quickly blow dries and brushes her dark, hip length hair.

After pulling on a pair of underwear, she puts on her dress. The dress she picked out goes to her knees, it was a dark purple halter top with a slightly exposed back. It hugs her curves until it loosens slightly for comfortable walking. As if she was going to be comfortable walking in the shoes she knew would best go with it. At 4'9", she definitely needs all the help she can get in the height department. That's why she went with her 4" black strappy heels, not that four inches really did much.

She grabs her clutch and quickly puts her phone and wallet in it. Picking up her keys, she takes a peek in the mirror. She fluffs her hair up a little and looks around her room making sure she didn't forget anything. Deciding she isn't missing anything, she heads downstairs. She turns on the alarm system and quickly steps outside, locking the door.

She walks up to her dark grey 2004 Audi A3 hatchback and hops in. Quickly pulling her hair over her right shoulder, she buckles up and starts the car. Knowing where to go, she puts on some Panic! at the Disco and begins driving to Le Dèlicieux Boeuf. It's a French restaurant, who's name literally translates to the delicious beef. Pulling up, she quickly turns her car off and gets out. Making sure her precious car is locked up tight, she makes her way in.

"Bonjour, and welcome to Le Dèlicieux Boeuf. Do you have a reservation, Madame?" The host graciously asks, with a light accent.

"Yes, I'm with the Ashburie party." She quietly replies.

"Oui, your party has already begun arriving. Please follow me." He says, as he walked off.

Walking quickly to make sure she didn't fall too far behind the tall man, they makes it to her parents. After giving Storm her menu, the host briskly walks back to his podium to be of assistance to his next guests. Sitting down, she begins reading the menu. This might be her favorite restaurant, but it's expensive. They usually only go out for special occasions.

"Hello mother, father. Will you finally tell me why we're eating out tonight?" Storm says, anxiously greeting her parents.

Alice beams at her daughter excitedly, ready to spill the beans, but her husband, Phillip, beats her to it. "I do believe it's something that can wait until dessert, dear."

"Oh, but honey-" Her mother begins. "Ugh, fine." She huffs, after seeing the look her husband shot her.

"Whatever," Storm scoffs, then remembers something the host mentioned. "Why'd the host tell me the party has begun arriving? It's just the three of us."

"Well we have-"

"Our business partners and their son are joining us!" Alice exclaims, cutting off her husband before he could say anything more.

"You remember Joan and Carlton Dawson, don't you? And their son, Eugene?" Her father's asks.

"Kind of, I guess." She mutters, thinking for a moment.

She definitely knows Mr. Dawson and his wife, they were his and her mothers law partners. They have meetings every quarter and switch off on traveling, so she sees them every six months. They never bring either of their children because of school. At that moment, the Dawson family walks up to their table, right behind the host. Storm stays seated as her parents stand and shake hands. She goes back to looking over the menu, she doesn't realize she's being spoken to until she feels a smack on her shoulder.

"Owh! What was that for?!" She hisses at her mother.

"Pay attention, would you?" Alice scolds her daughter. Clearing her throat, "As I was saying, Eugene this is our daughter Storm. Storm, dear this is Eugene. You two used to play together before Joan and Carlton moved across state to run our other office."

Looking up, she freezes. Storm is utterly gobsmacked by Eugene. He had to be at least a foot taller than her, as if that was hard. Even sitting down she has to look up at him. but what really had her captivated were his eyes. They were a gorgeous sea foam green, that stand out against his black hair. Upon hearing someone clear their throat, she realizes that she's staring. Feeling her face heat up from her blush, she looks away embarrassed.

"Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you again." Eugene chuckles, even though he was just as captivated as she had been. He has never seen anyone as adorably tiny as her. She has long, dark brown hair with the brightest blue eyes. He could have sworn he was looking at the midday sky as he gazed into them.

"You as well," she quietly mutters, still embarrassed for staring.

A waiter came and took their orders, their parents spoke business until their food came. Once it did, everyone dug in. It was mostly quiet as everyone ate their dinner, every so often someone would comment on their food or about how the restaurant got new carpet or something. When everyone finished eating, they order dessert. Storm glances over at Eugene and blushes again as she realizes that now she's caught him looking at her.

As if to ruin the moment, yet another throat clearing fills the air. "So, Storm, I hear you got into the Univerity of Washington?"

Feeling her lips lift into a light smile, she nods excitedly. "Yes, I did. I'm really looking forward to what their law program has to offer."

"I currently go there, if you need any help on campus or around Seatle, I'd be happy to help." Eugene offers.

"That would be awesome. Thank you," she says.

"Now then, Storm, you wanted to know what makes tonight big enough for us to go out." Phillip began, her mother bounces in her seat next to him.

"Yes, I do." She says cautiously, looking at her mother as if she has just grown a second head. In the corner of her eye she sees Mrs. Dawson grin and grab her son's hand.

"Would you like to tell them or should we?" Carlton asks her parents. She and Eugene share confused looks.

"Will someone just tell us already?" Eugene questions with light demand.

Alice and Joan look at each other excitedly then their children. "You're getting married!" They squeal in delight. Eugene starts coughing as he had been sipping his water.

Standing up in surprise, Storm stops for a moment. She's not sure if she heard them correctly. Her get married to someone because he's the son of their business partners? Suddenly her shock becomes anger as she lets out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"I don't know even him, let alone want to marry him! How can you expect that of me?!" She all but yells at her parents.

"I suppose we ought to get the check?" Carlton queries nervously.

Through all the coughing, Eugene can only listen as he tries to stop. Once he can breathe properly, he starts processing what was just said. Him, married, at his age? That's just ridiculous.

"What the hell do you mean I'm marrying her?" Eugene questions quietly, as he comes out of his shock.

"Exactly that, son." His mother says happily. "You and her will be getting married in July."

Scoffing he stands, tossing his napkin onto his plate. "Unbelieveable. I honestly cannot believe you would do this." He turns and follows Storms lead and heads for the exit with a huff.

"I suppose we ought to get that check now." Phillip says with a sigh. "That did not go as I had hoped."
