ETTVB 9: Moonlight

I sat on the rocking chair in the garden feeling the calming breeze and watching the sunset alone. It;s really dead quiet with only me walking and being along in the morning. But I guess it's like a recollection period where I get time to spend for myself and reminisce anything that comes to my mind. Also, it is actually not bad, the place is exquisite and sometimes I feel like Alice in Wonderland for whatever reasons there are.

It's been a week since I have moved here in vampire land and I have no news from the human side. My fear and hatred toward vampires have slowly lessen because of how the vampires treat me here although I know that it's all for show because they want me to chose the next king and bear the next heir to their kin.

But honestly?

I have zero idea who to chose between the princes...

Kazuto who is the eldest has been ensuring of my safety for the past week...

Kazuya has been doing his best to spoil and make me laugh...

and Kyouta has started going cold towards me.

It's going pretty difficult on me since I know something is going on in the kingdom although I don't really know what it is. I can't point my finger into their secret. I want to know just out of curiosity though.

My phone suddenly rang so I picked it up from the pocket of my skirt.

"Hello Fhae?"

"Hey Cassie! What's up?"

"I just found out pretty interesting stuff about the things you wanted me to check up on." I stood up from the chair and looked around making sure no one was standing close to me.

"Let's hear it."

"Okay... So King Ambrogio has been ruling alone for about 17 years now after the late Queen Selene Adrasteia was murdered that time. They had three children, 2 boys and a girl."

"What?! Are you sure? Because they are all boys you know."

"I am pretty sure babe! And I was pretty surprise when I learned that the youngest son was actually the child of the former vampire queen named Thana Ambrogio."

"Thana... Ambrogio?"

"Mm. It was pretty difficult to search for their identities you know. But because of the unknown reason of her death, the royal family was made to adopt the child but not inform anyone in the public of his real identity." 

So Kyouta isn't an illegitimate child but and adopted child still linked with the royal family.

"But what about the baby girl?"

"You know what babe... It almost seemed impossible to find her whereabouts because after an arson incident which I am still looking up into, the child was said to have disappeared but some witnesses saw her alive."

"Really? Where?"

"I am still looking for the exact coordinates but someone close to you knows this for a fact."

"What? What do you mean? Who?"

"Don't react yet okay? But according to the first searches I made... They all directed to the the human leader."

"You don't mean..."

"Yes. I mean your father Fhae. Mr. Goldsmith. He is pointed to as someone who knows the whereabouts of the vampire princess."

"That can't be right Cassie. My father dislikes them. They murdered my mother."

"One  more thing... About that... The vampires did not kill your parents.:

"Where are you getting this from? I know it was them!" My voice started to pitch higher.

"I'm sorry Fhae but...Your mother's death was shown in the files that I browsed in. Every human pointed it to the vampires as your mother wanted to initiate peace on both clans but rebels were actually the one who murdered her ruthlessly."

"You're lying Cassie! Where did you ger this from? Because everyone who saw my mother said she was killed in a car acident as she tried to fix the dispute in the group!

"I... I had some private sources that I can never disclose to anyone."

"I won't believe that unless they tell me fac-to-face what the real score is. I really don;t think dad would lie to me especially with my mother's death.

"Calm down Fhae... I was just saying it because all files directed at him and I don't have any intention to break your relationship with your father. But I am merely suggesting the facts.. That..."

"That?"

"That it is possible your dad knows more than what we think he knows,"

"I'm sorry Cassie but please search a little more because it's hard to believe about the things you just mentioned to me.  I really cannot think that my father would be capable of your theories."

"No problem babe. But just to let you know... I honestly think the vampires don't exactly mean any harm to us. Whatever happened in the past basically changed the future big time. And just like you... I want to get to the bottom of this now. It's one of those cases that really ignite the detective spirit in me so I would be really honoured to do this task even if both of us do not expect the outcome. So ...  Trust me on this okay?"

"Of course. Sorry for shouting at you a while ago."

"It's alright. I understand that you're in a pinch position right now. But don't ever forget that whatever happens I'll always be supporting you as a friend. Ok?"

"Yes. Thank you heaps Cassie."

"Sure thing babe. I'll call you soon."

I dropped the call and rested back to the rocking chair.

I really am living in a world full of mysteries and foreplays.... And to think Christmas is coming soon too. This is crazy.

The wind suddeny brushed hard making the leaves dance around me and the moment I blinked... Everything went black.

"Le-o..."  She fell on her knees and he held her by the arms.

"You alright? I'll take you to the hospital!" He panicked but she shooked her head at once panting quite hard.

"It's almost time Leo... I want to let you know I am the happiest human vampire to have ever fallen for the same person in both states. It's sad that I can't watch our daughter grow up... and celebrate even our anniversary next year." She chuckled.

"Then don't leave us! Don't leave me Selene."

"I'm sorry babe... But I'd rather sacrifice myself for our daughter and the whole race than get themselves killed in the future."

"Why do you always leave me alone? Why do you love making people sad?"

"I guess it's in the blood?" She chuckled a little again feeling a blood rush from inside. She looked on her chest and the magic circle she performed the spell had appeared on her skin. She turned to him and he had tears overflowing from his eyes.

"God no... Please no... Don't leave me..." Water swells in her eyes seeing how hurt her lover and husband was.

"Take care of Ady alright?" She held his face on both palms.

"I would but still..."

"Just promise me you'll protect our child no matter what happens. Even if you fall for another person or vampire."

"I won't. I'll wait for you to wake up. I promise you!"

The lady smiled bitterly and kissed him hard as it is the last thing she could do. Their tears were also mixing together with the pain of leaving. The trees also swayed and rustled as if feeling the agony they were going through.

They broke the kiss as her eyes started to shut down. Their foreheads rested against each other as their hands were entertwined.

"I love you... Leo... Always and forever... For all eternity...."

"I love you too Selene. And no matter how long you sleep... I'll wait for you to wake up. But don't take too long ok? Because I will miss you beside me all the time."

"I promise. Please smile Leo..."

"I love you so much." He smiled painfully.

"I love you more than you know."

She rested her head on his shoulder as his tears fell on her neckline.

"See you soon Leo... Tell Ady and everyone I love you all..."

"See you soon Selene."

My eyes darted open and I was back to my senses. Not again...

What the hell was that? Another dream?

I touched my cheeks and they were wet. I traced the source and it was from my eyes. Did I just cry seeing that sweet heart-breaking scene?

I wiped my tears and stood up seeing the moon appearing more clearly in the sky. I feel like it's just an armspan away although it's not.

I stared at the small sight of the moon which was starting to be covered by the clouds again. It was still sunset but I know some of the vampires would be starting to awake now so I should really head back inside the mansion. There are still some reckless vampires out there hunting for human blood even though it is a breach on some human-vampire law.

As I was walking back to the mansion, the wind brushes again but not as intensifying as before.

"Fhae..."

A cold shiver went up my spine hearing a woman's voice call me.

I turn back but there was no one at sight. it must be  my imagination. I turned back again but someone stood tall in front of me...

It was...

A/N: I only broke my own word because ETTVB enters Vampire #495!!! I am extremely delighted as it takes a spot because not all stories even get the chance to enter any of the spot and as it increases, my inspiration just boosted.

Also... Characters from WATT Book 1 is mentioned! :) If you haven't read Book 1 yet, please do so or you will really be confused who and what they will be talking about in the future... Like the scene from the end is from book 1.
