41 - Kidnapped
I never thought there'd come a day where I would be kidnapped. Imagine the scene of two pretty young girls surrounded by perverted men in a dirty, abandon warehouse. I recalled seeing that scene multiple times in movies, so when Rose and I were taken to a pool house behind an impressive white stone mansion, I felt a somewhat disappointed. Although our feet and hands are bound by cable ties, Rose and I were seated in one of the large guest couch. Glancing around the place, I took note of the remarkable artwork collection hanging on the walls and the luxurious furniture within the space. When my eyes went back to the group of men, I saw out of place they were. Dressed in torn up jeans and graphic t-shirt, the men turned out to be boys – foolish goons who appeared to be in their early twenties. One of them looked barely 18 years old.
"Calla"
Rose's trembling voice brought my attention to her. Clearly frightened and confused, my older sister was glued to my side. I didn't know what to say to ease her fear and looking at the situation, there's not much we can do but wait. The real boss has yet to arrive.
We didn't wait long when a woman in a sexy gold dress appeared. Despite how gorgeous she was, her expression was ugly with obvious hatred. Her eyes were like daggers ready to aim straight at me – her target. It took me a moment to process who she was and what I've done to offend her.
"Calla!"
Rose cried out the same time the woman's hand slapped my right cheek. When it looked like she was going to slap me again, Rose covered by body with hers. With our hands and feet bound, we both staggered and fell down onto the couch.
"Who are you?" Rose tried to shield me even though she was visibly terrified. "What do you want?"
"Who am I?" The woman ignored Rose completely while her eyes were glaring murderously at me. "What do I want?"
She was the same woman who sat on Malik Shah's lap while I was on the supposed "date" with him. The woman had tried to taunt and insult me but ended up being dismissed by the playboy prince.
"I don't know you" I replied coldly with an indifferent expression.
I recognized her but I didn't know her name or who she was. I didn't care to know her in the beginning and I don't care to now.
"You_"
"Do you know who I am?" I shot back at the crazy woman before my eyes. "For that playboy, you dare to kidnap my sister and me?"
"Shut up!" She screamed. "How dare you insult me? How dare you insult Malik!"
Clearly, the woman was insane. It pissed me off that the woman is venting at me instead of that playboy prince. I had not been the one who dismissed her. Malik Shah did. I had not been the one who wronged her. Malik Shah did. Yet here she was, hiring thugs to kidnap me in broad daylight.
It was useless for me to deal with a crazy woman. Nothing I could say or do would appease her. She will still put all the blame on me – whatever it was.
"How much did she pay you?" My eyes went to the hired goons.
The goons were all startled by my questions. It was clear that they were amateur abductors – simple thugs on the streets. Before they care to find out what "job" they've accepted, their greed blinded them. They did not realize they've just kidnapped daughters – granddaughters of one of the country most influential family. My sister and I weren't normal rich girls – we are Lind's. Our family isn't just people you can threaten and insult without repercussion. Unfortunately, these idiots did not know their actions will cost them not only their lives but the lives of everyone they know and love.
"Whatever that amount" I purposely baited when I saw their eyes flash with greed. "I will double it"
"Don't listen to her! She_"
"Triple" I cut her off while keeping my eyes on the targets.
"Don't play with us girl" The head goon smirked. "You think we'll believe you have that kind of money"
"How much" I said fearlessly.
"500,000" He said haughtily like the amount of money was beyond my reach.
I was kidnapped for 500,000? And here I thought I was worth a lot more.
"Let us go and I'll give you 2 million" I said without breaking a sweat.
I didn't even care when the boys all laughed at me.
"You think we're idiots to believe you?"
Well, I do think you're all idiots.
"Let my sister go" I bargained. "Once she's out, she'll make the transfer"
"Calla_"
Before Rose say anything else, my eyes told her not to speak.
"I'm giving you a chance" I told the goons. "Because clearly you don't know who you're messing with"
Because I had said it so boldly – so confidently, that they begin to hesitate.
"Don't listen to her!" The crazy woman was screaming angrily while she grabbed the lead goon's arm. "We have a deal!"
"Shut up!"
The thugs knew more money is at stake so they abandon the crazy woman's scheme. I watched wryly as the guy shoved the woman aside like she was trash. I didn't care to know what the woman had originally planned but that no longer matters.
"Any moment now, this place will be surrounded by the police. That is if you're lucky"
If they're unlucky, the place will be surrounded by CIA agents or SWAT teams. The fools had been indeed amateurs not to check Rose or me. Technology now-a-days are advance. If you're wealthy and influential, far more advanced technology is available. My sister and I belong to a family that would not risk our security at any point in time. For Rose, I'm sure my father had some form of tracking device on her – most likely within her necklace, earrings, or bracelet. As soon as my mother realizes Rose is gone, she'll notify her husband and guards. For me, not only my cell phone would be track – my car key and wrist watch could be track. Once grandfather or Alex knew I was in danger, they'll send the military coalition.
"You_"
Right on cue, helicopters could be heard from a distant. Within minutes, the area was surrounded by loud sirens. A stern, hard voice spoke through a microphone letting everyone inside the pool house that the area is surrounded by the police. While the goons were stunned or panicked, the woman was scarily calm.
I knew never to underestimate a jealous woman. A scorn woman was dangerous – even more so when it involves a man she is infatuated with.
"Calla!"
It happened so fast. The crazed woman rushed to grab the gun hanging from one of the goon's pants. No one was able to stop her when she aimed the gun carelessly at me.
"No!"
The first shot grazed my right arm.
"Calla!"
I was suddenly pushed down by Rose. When the bullet connects with Rose's right arm, my heart stopped.
"Rose!" I screamed while trying to grab hold of the unconscious Rose.
I didn't care when my wrist was cut while I struggled to break free from the cable ties.
"Rose!" The blood around my wrist loosens my hand enough to slip out of the knot. "Rose!"
Ignoring the shouts and gun fires around me, I focused on putting pressure on Rose's bleeding arm. Seeing how pale Rose was becoming as blood continued to escape through the cracks of my fingertips, I panicked.
"Quickly! Get the medic!"
I panicked more when I was pulled away from Rose.
"Stop! Calla!"
I was fighting my way to get to Rose when I was suddenly pulled into a tight embrace. I could feel my heart beating angrily. I could hear a similar heartbeat against my ear while a strong arm held onto me tight – a hand cupping the back of my head, holding onto me firmly - protectively. All of my strength suddenly collapsed. Before I fell unconscious, familiar vivid violet blue eyes stared at me with worries.
