Zac's secret

*Zac*
I am running through the forest as fast as I can, looking over my shoulder again and again, panic and fear gripping me. Slightly behind me and to the left I can hear a giant beast brave through the scrub and bushes, hunting me. I am running faster than I have ever done before but the beast still follows me easily. It gets up on my side and in three long jumps it is in front of me. It keeps running in front of me, pressuring me to turn left and run back towards from were we came.

"Come on ! Calm down for shits sake. We can't have you running into town". A man run up on the other side, slightly behind me.

Oh God no ! This is the end. I almost can't run anymore, the pain in my legs about to overcome me as the last energy reserves disappears from my muscles. A fallen tree shows up in front of me, and I jump with everything I got to get over it. Before I Can land the man is on me, pulling me to the ground. I am quickly on my feet, but the man and the beast are ready, circling me. I am caught. This is the end.

I look directly at the beast. A new wave of fear rolling through me and I let out a rather pathetic scream.

"Calm down ! Relax kiddo, we are not going to hurt you". The man say. "We are here to help you for fucks sake".

I don't really hear the man, because my eyes are glued to the beast. It is way too big to be a wolf, but to slim and fast to be a bear. It has pointy ears and a long snout. The body, Well everything, is covered in thick dark brown, almost black fur.

What the hell is it ? I stagger backwards, but bumps into the man who grabs me around the shoulders. The panic ribs at me and I fight with everything I got to get free, but the man is inhumanly strong and I am stuck. In the end I give up and heaving for air I collapse in the man's arms.

The beast pads closer. It walks on all four and seem very agile despite it's size. It is staring at me with green eyes. It is astoundingly passive. Why doesn't it jump me an rip me to pieces?

"Okay see. We are not hurting you". The man pulls me to my feet, Holding out his arms in a calming gesture.

I pull back from both of them. Is this some perverse foreplay were they befriended the prey, before the monster goes for the kill or what ? The beast turns his head to the man and grunts.

"Yeah it can happen any minute now". The man answers.

Wait what happens ?

I don't get farther in my thoughts before a sharp pain from the back of my head sends me to my knees, moaning with pain. I start pounding my temples, gasping for air as the pain intensifies and moves forward. Then my hands on my head feels how my ears grow, and a searing pain goes through them, like the inside folding up. Scared to shit I let go of my own head, and look up at the man. Two separate pounding sounds slowly gets clearer. They Sound like they are coming from the man and the beast.

What is happening to me ?

Me heart is trying to pound open my chest and I am fighting hard to breathe. The man and the beast gets blurry and everything else seems to disappear as I can no longer focus. The sharp pain gets worse and moves forward to my forehead. The forest gets lighter and my sight sharpens. I can smell the rot in the undergrowth, the faint smell of sweat from the man and the tangy smell of predator from the beast.

All brain activity is cut of by a white hot pain shooting down my spine. I scream as my spine and neck grows and changes shape. The scream turns into a pained rasping sound as my ribs springs apart and my lungs expand to fill the extra space. Muscles and tendons stretches to follow the growth of the body, and when they can't stretch any longer, they start snapping with loud snaps, only to quickly reattach, now stronger than before.

My moans disappear. I have no air left to give sound to my agony. And I am close to losing consciousness when my body gives me a small break and I gasp to fill my lungs with air.

The break is short, and soon I am writhing in pain again, as every part of my body seems to break and grow back together bigger. When the bones are finally done growing, I sink to my hands and knees with a pathetic sod. But before I can relax the least my skin is heating up. It feels like getting roasted alive, but I don't have energy left to react.

My brain is giving in to the physical shock and Black spots are dancing before my eyes. But my body continue the unnatural changes. With every heartbeat my muscles grow bigger. When my brain releases a Big dose of endorphins I collapse, feeling relieved , face first into a pile of leaves.

I stay on the cool ground, as it soothe the burning feeling in my skin. I am prepared for the next attack.

But nothing happens. I open my eyes, gasping at the size of the huge bulging bicep in front of me, then I realise it is my own. Stupefied I lift one hand, needing to know that this is still my body. A stream of curses leave me as I stare at the paw like lumps with the long claws. I look at the monster, resting a couple of metres away, I am starting to look like that freak show I realise with disgust.

I scream again, this time in frustration, but the Sound is not my own voice. Desperately I try getting on my feet, but my body acts totally weird, and I end flat on my back. I give up and roll up sobbing, feeling how my soul, the essence of me is giving up space for something else, something primitive that scares the shit out of me.

Where am I ? Who am I ?

No it is not okay to give up. I need to get away. This time I manage to get up. My eyes going to the pale silver disk that come over the tree tops and my body explodes. My gaze locks on the moon as my jaw turn into a snout. My teeth turns canine and the last thing I see is thick brown fur sprouting all over me.

Then I feel myself slip away and the primitive takes over control. Fast and agile I jump up an all Four. I shake my body and raise my head, howling at the moon.

"It's over now". The man say, falling to his knees and swallowing a pained gasp as he changes too. Auburn fur growing out on his body. He shakes his body, before throwing back his head, howling at the moon.

The Wolf in me makes me instinctively copy him and the third wolf joins the quire. Our Wolf song raising from the forest, telling the World that we are a pack.

The auburn one is the one stopping the howling and he steps up to me, towering over me, showing me that he is the alpha. The Wolf takes over again, making me lower my shoulders, making chewing motions to confirm that I am below him. The alpha grunts and relax. The dark brown gives me a small push and I whimper lowly, chewing once to confirm his status above me too. For a moment we just stand there, sniffing the air, getting to know each other's scents.

The alpha scouts into the darkness. The dark brown one comes to stand beside him, their ears listening. Their eyes glinting with excitement in the moonlight. The alpha goes down on all four and trot away. The brown one makes a motion to me with it's head and follows.

Helplessly I look after them, before I let myself fall down on all four and takes a trying jump forward. When I feel how agile the body is, take another and then another, soon sprinting after the others. There is only a weak ecco of the person I used to be inside me. I am no longer plagued by doubts, moral or fear. I am my senses and I enjoy the strength of the huge body. The high speed elated me and I stretch my limbs to move faster, weaving through trees.

The two other wolves leads me further north and we have been running for many miles before they slow down to a trot.

Curiously I study everything with my new senses. It was like waking up after a long heavy sleep. Now my instincts just has to remind me what I am and how this bombardment of information is to be interpreted.

The transformation has made me hungry. I whimper and stop. The two other turn around and pad back to me. I whimper again, stretching my paw towards them. The alpha lifts his snout sniffing the air in little huffs. I try copying him, not sure what it is he wants me to do. The others turn, once again checking the air. When I turn in the same direction breathing in, I suddenly get a sharp but sweet scent. Without realising I open my mouth, breathing in again; I can almost taste the scent now. My instincts pull at me, telling me that this scent can sate my hunger.

We quickly find the elk, it is still young, but it is still big and has some impressive antlers. The two others stops, and start sneaking around the animal from both sides. I look after them, not really knowing what to do. The elk steps on a twig and I snap around towards it, the hunting instinct taking over.

It flee when it hears me coming scrambling through the undergrowth. I see the others hidden to the sides, slightly in front of us, and the slowly runs closer, caging in the elk.

The elk let out a scared roar and try coming between the two others, but it has to pull back from their snapping jaws. When it stands still I make my move yelping excited as I jump at it. But in my inexperience I underestimate the elk. It turns, slamming it's antlers into me, throwing me to the ground and jumping over me.

The two other sprint after it, cornering the elk by a little lake and I get there in time to see the alpha make a feint at it. It turns, lowering its antlers to fight him of, but as it bare it's throat the brown one attacks, biting into its shoulder, getting his front legs around the big prey.

The elk jumps around, roaring, trying to get loose. Being focused on the brown one gives space for the alpha to attack and he uses his weight to throw the elk to the ground. I watch in awe as they hold down the animal and start to tear big chunks of meat of it.

The smell of blood hits my senses and I breathe in the metallic sweetness. The hunger drives me to a new attack. I run over, curiously sinking my teeth into it's rump. When the blood runs over my tongue, my senses are overwhelmed by the satisfying taste. I bite harder, ripping of a chunk of meat, swallowing it.

The elk stops fighting and soon after it is dead, but I don't really notice, I am to busy eating and staying clear of the others snapping jaws, as they keep marking their territory.

When we are done eating we all slump down on the ground. I see how the others start cleaning their fur with their tongue. I try running my tongue up my front leg, but honestly I am too tired to care. The others don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, so I throw myself flat on my side and drift of to sleep.
