part one - xv.

When I started to come around again I found that my wrist were free. I brought them up to my eyes to cover them from the bright light in the room and I rubbed the palm of my hands against my eyes. I don't know how long I was asleep but I feel like I could sleep more.

I heard a clicking sound and my head quickly swat to my left. I saw Cortez-Faulkner whatever-on a chair a few feet away from me with a gun in her hand. Her long tan legs cross and the chick had the nerve to smile at me! She had this cream color folder against her stomach.

"Let me explain myself." she said. I lunged towards her to scare her a little as my eyes went Amber and Sapphire as I bared my teeth. She sighed heavily, "Miss. Vaughn, please let me talk. Let me tell you about who I am and what my team is doing."

"I don't care what you have to say." I said as I quickly sat up and got off the metal bed. I turned to leave the big white room but I heard the gun move in her hand and when I looked in the corner of my eyes she was holding it up to me.

"I know what Belladonna does to your kind, I know it blinded you almost. Which I will apologize for what Shane did but I'm glad it recovered." she said. "Why don't you sit down, Miss Vaughn?"

I reached up behind me and pulled myself up to the metal bed. I lifted my chin up a little as my nose flared and she lowered it down to her lap. I knew this could be my chance to lung at her and probably kill her but she was only human. I didn't want to kill her since her strength wouldn't match mine. It'll be like a cat chasing a mice. And I was curious to what she has to say.

"My father was a scientist for your kind. I followed in his footsteps." she said.

"Hmm, I thought you were a doctor. Maybe that's why I didn't find it so strang at the hospital." I said coldly.

"I am also a doctor. I was my father only child and he made sure I study the hell out of my soul." she said. "He use to work in Mexico, that's where he met my mother. He was a good researcher for finding new drugs or cures. Then a man name Talaus came to us and told him he'll pay him big money if we come live here. My father spent long hours in this building researching for Talaus. I was just working at the hospital since it meant less hours but I knew of his and Talaus plans."

"And what plans are those?" I asked.

"The Army went to Talaus." she said, making my eyes widen a little. "They wanted him to build this drug-this energy shot."

"That's a lie." I coldly said "Talaus isn't even Alpha anymore, my cousin is. Someone would have told him-"

"Only Talaus knew, it was his secret." she said. "When Talaus died, the secret went along with him. He was being paid big, big money."

"How am I suppose to believe you?" I coldly asked, leaning back against the bed with boredom. "What kind of energy drug did they want?"

She picked up the cream color folder and tossed it next to me on the metal bed, "For the soldiers, to make them stronger." she said. I stared at her for a moment as my eyebrows furrowed together and I sat up. I picked up the folder and opened where a contract with Talaus name on it. "We noticed how much strong your kind is, how fast you can run, and your hearing. Everything about your kind is stronger and we believe if we can find out why we can give it to the man for when their out in the field."

I read the boring contract only a name before I closed it, "Bullshit. The research is pointless."

She tilt her head to the side, "And why do you say that?"

I scoffed, "Because it has nothing to do in our blood! It's apart of our souls and last I checked you can't do a simple surgery to remove a soul." I threw the folder back at her, "You're wasting your time so just end it."

"You know your kind chromosomes are half Gray-Wolf and human? Thirty-nine wolf, eleven human." she said.

"Chromosomes?" I questioned and she nodded. "Like. . .DNA?"

"You clearly didn't pass Biology with an A did you?" she sarcastically asked, making me growl at her. "Hey, calm down. Yes, it is DNA. It's taking time but we're sure we're on the verge into making it a real thing. I'm more than positive we are able to mutate your DNA."

I scoffed, "Mutate? Look lady, this isn't gonna work. Wolves have been on this planet long more than humans have been. We came from wolves while they say you came from Aps. Our DNA won't mutate into yours. You should really do research on Werewolves."

"I think I know enough. Like how yours kind is a dying race." she said. "I know your kind is dying, there use be millions of your kind but now there's maybe a few thousand. Your kind is older than human but that also means it's dying out."

I rolled my eyes, "We're doing fine. If there was to many of us, we would have a hard time blending in. If we didn't, humans would be scared of us and try to kill us. Humans are scared of what they can't control."

She stood up with the folder in her hand and opened it. She pulled out a piece of paper, "I've done some research on you Miss. Vaughn." she said, confusing me. "Not even a year ago you once believe you were just a human girl also. You use to go by Matilda Daughtry, living in a group home for orphan children."

My face got hard and stiff, "Yes but once I met my mate he opened the truth to what my true birthright is. I grown into a very proud wolf."

"You mate, I have learned about that to. It was mostly an American Native spiritual thing since that's where it said your kind inhabited but when Pangaea split they were mostly in this part of the world. Then when people from Europe came and brought disease many of the human and wolf Natives died. Leaving many generations of Wolves to be born and never have mates. It's a rare thing these days to find." she said, making me amused.

"You really know this stuff." I said, shaking my head. "Talaus told you guys all of this, didn't he?"

She shrugged, "You're kind is really fascinating."

I huffed heavily out my nose as my look turned cold again, "You had people try to kill my pack! Why didn't you just go to Nate about this!"

"We learned this Alpha is more different than Talaus." she said with a cold look on her face as she sat down. "We knew this wasn't going to be easy. Talaus was getting impatient because once the drug is found he would get billions of dollars. The research has been taking seven years."

"It sounds like your kind of happy he's dead." I said, tilting my head to the side of boredom. "Trust me, it's okay to admit. Allot of people hated Talaus."

"Talaus killed my father." she said, making me stare at her for a moment. I felt kind of bad for her but I knew I couldn't show her that since she was an enemy. "They were fighting one day and Talaus killed him. My father was dedicated to the research though so this is why I continued it."

It hit me then and I quickly off the metal table, "You don't trust wolves! That's why you did go to Nate-"

She held the gun up to me and I quickly froze, "You're exactly right, I don't trust your kind anymore. I find you fascinating but I don't like any of you. I'm gonna find this drug one way or another because it would make my father happy."

I brought my hands up and leaned against the metal bed, "Why my pack? How'd you even know about us?"

She snorted, "Oh come on, you all were camping out in the woods! The puzzles matched up."

I growled heavily, "There were children there! One of them my nephew!"

"Belladonna doesn't effect your kind if you haven't shifted yet." she said. "Miss. Vaughn, will you please sit down?"

"No." I snorted out. "Why in the world am I here! You're Hunters got enough blood sample from that night."

She stared at me for a moment, "You have more Wolf Chromosomes than human." she said, making me quiet since I didn't know how to respond. "Pack tame wolves have thirty-nine wolf and eleven human but you have forty wolf and ten human. I wanna know why."

I scoffed, "Just because I have one more Wolf Chromosome?"

"It makes you very different. You eyes are different from tame wolves so it only means your not tame. You're body is different, it means whatever happened to make you and tame wolves different during an evolution process you have stronger genes. Talaus never told us about this." she said.

"It means I have Wild Alpha blood." I said, rolling my eyes. "He never told you about Wild wolves?"

She just shook her head and stared at me for to continue but I knew that's what she wanted. She wanted me to tell her every dark secret of wolves Talaus must not have told her and I wasn't gonna give her that. She already knows way to much about Wolves and I refuse to let her know more. She believe mutating our genes will make human soldiers stronger but she can't be more than wrong. This crazy experiment hypothesis is so stupid but it won't work! She said been seven years already and it hasn't been found yet? Because it's not real! You can mutate our DNA and give it to humans.

And I refuse to stay here any longer! I stared at the gun in her hand and she followed my eyes. She clicked the gun but I brought my foot up. I kicked it out of her hand and it landed on the floor a few feet away from her. We both lunged for it but I was quicker.

I grabbed it and she froze for a moment on the ground. I stood up from the ground and pointed it at her. She looked at me for a moment before the doors burst open with three guards with big guns. I reached down quickly and grabbed Cortez. I held the gun against her neck, "Tell them to drop those guns."

She breathed heavily out, "Drop them, it doesn't matter." she coldly said. "I told her what she needs to know and we have enough samples to test on. She's free to go." She cleared her throat, "Miss. Vaughn, how about I walk you out of the building? We won't be needing you anymore."

I pressed it harder against her throat and she winced, "Don't go near my pack, understand?" I coldly said and she nodded. "Good. Pick up those documents."

*

I ran over towards Nate home and quickly went up the stairs. I burst through the doors with the cream color folder in my hands and I ran down the hallways. I went over towards his office and I opened the door, "You'll never believe this-oh." I found Nate on top of Melinda as they laid down on the couch making out. Nate quickly got up from the couch and Melinda sat up blushing hard.

"Mat, you're okay!" Nate said, walking over towards me quickly.

I rolled my eyes, "Thanks for the concern. Not the time." I said as I brought the folder up. "Check these out, you'll never believe what I just found out." I told Nate everything as he checked the folder and Melinda came over to listen. I turned around and walked over towards the phone in the room, "And she just let me go." I said as I picked up the phone and dialed Killian number. He picked up on the third ring, "Hey it's Mat, I'm fine. Look, just come to Nate place. Allot happening."

"Well holy shit." Nate said when Killian told me he'll be here as fast he can. "Talaus was willing to sell our kind secret out just for money. And this experiment is useless because it won't work. You can't mutate our DNA or anything else."

"I told her that." I said, running my hands through my hair. "She thinks they can, they believe even after seven years it's possible but they can't be more than wrong."

"Of course their wrong." Melinda said. "And it seems like their not willing to give up on this experiment no matter what."

Nate walked over towards his desk and when he sat down he quickly used his computer, "I have to let the others know about this." he said as I came over next to his side and Melinda on the other. He opened his webcam since this was our job as Alphas to inform the other Alphas about anything new. He opened the webcam and we both explained what's going on. He saved the video messages and sent it out to all the Alphas emails to tell them what's going on.

Killian soon showed up and I walked around the desk. He ran over and quickly hugged me tightly. I wrapped my arms around him and hid my face in the space between his neck and shoulder.

"Mat, there's another thing." Nate said, making us pull apart and I looked at him confused. He grabbed another folder on the desk and walked over. He held it out to me and I opened it to see a picture of a dead guy in a picture. His throat was rip out and claw marks everywhere. He was bloody mess with ripped jeans. I knew this man. "Ramses was found dead. Some people in the world about sixty miles away found him."

I picked up the picture and stared at the report from the police made. I had a feeling Aydin did this. "No one tell Aeriela, she shouldn't have to worry about this right now." I knew Aeriela hates Ramses now but he was her only blood family left and I knew deep down-this would kill her.
