part one - ix.

I saw a familiar brown wolf running my way and I quickly smelt her scent. When she was only a few feet away Melinda shifted back into human skin and we threw our arms around each other. This time I could see her much better even though my vision wasn't completely heal but I could see her better. She looked healthy and glowing. Her hair was still beautifully long and down to her waist.

"When did you arrive?" I asked as we walked around.

She hooped her arm around my arm, "Last night around one a.m. Nate came to pick my mom and I up. After a night rest I knew I had to come see you and drag your ass to do some maid of honor stuff." she said. "This wedding is in five weeks, we have so much to do." she said, chuckling.

"So quick, don't you think?" I asked.

She shrugged, "It's not a big wedding, only about fifty or so guest. Even I want to be married soon."

"I still think you're both very crazy. Nate is my cousin but do you think you're both doing the right thing?" I asked. "I mean, you both weren't even dating and he just suddenly asks."

"I know Mat." she said. "Trust me, while on the plane ride back I couldn't believe what I agreed to. I was going to call Nate and tell him I changed my mind. But the more I thought about him, the more my heart started to beat racer." she said shyly as she blushed and smiled.

"Oh God." I said, laughing. "I see someone taken a quick liking to her fiancé."

"Oh shut up, Mat." she said, chuckling. "We wolves do crazy thing and I already know Nate. But Nate is actually not too bad. I always thought he was sort of weird but now I don't. We been talking about the last two weeks and I can say I like him allot." Her smile turned into a grin, "Last night he kissed me and whoa I couldn't believe how good he could kiss. I didn't expect it."

"Ew." I said, making us both laugh.

"She's all alone." Melinda suddenly said, confusing me. I looked at her to see her looking near the lake and I followed her direction. I saw Aeriela near the water sitting on the ground with her knees up to her chest and just looking out at the water. "She was the same way back with Ramses. She's just all cleaned up."

I looked at her, "Did you know she was supposed to be with Aydin?"

Her eyes widen and her head quickly snapped to face me, "What?"

"Yeah." I said, nodding. "Ramses wanted them together and Aydin had no problem with it. Aeriela did and while Aydin was wooing you, Aeriela got her first period. Only thing stopping Aydin from making her his little 'wife' was when he brought you back."

She took in a sharp breathe, "I did always catch him near her. I thought it was a little to close but he just told me he's like her big brother. That bastard." she coldly said. "He's a grown man and she's a young girl."

Aeriela

I was starting to think I made a big mistake.

I think maybe I should have never left Uncle Ramses. Sure it wasn't that much better than it was here but at least there I knew who I was. Uncle Ramses was always good to me. He took care of me when my mother died after I was born and he never had kids of his own. Maybe I could have convinced him hard not to make me be with Aydin.

I was scared and worried about everything. I knew Uncle Ramses wasn't doing good things when Mat and the others were locked in the underground cellar but I wanted to believe my uncle was a good man. To me in my eyes—he was a good man. He never hurt me and showed me love. Once I saw him try to kill Mat though, it made me realize that the life I was living wasn't something a girl should deal with. I met Mat and she was something I always wanted to be. She was strong, tough, and brave. I wanted to be her.

But Mat was just a girl like me.

I have to stop kidding myself. I had spent way to long in the wild and that's where I probably belong. I don't belong here in the pack. This is my new life now and I don't think I could spend my whole life not fitting in and getting tormented by Harley. I thought my life would be better here but it isn't. Uncle Ramses was my family and I abandoned him.

Someone came beside me while I was leaning against a large boulder rock in the corner of my eyes I saw it was Ulric but I had no energy to tell him to go away. "You are like a tick that won't go away." I said.

"Harley won't come to apologize so I'm going to do it for her." he said. "Look, what she did was wrong to try and embarrass her. I didn't know what she was going to do. I wouldn't have let her done it if I did."

I snorted, "Sure you wouldn't."

"What does that mean?" he asked.

"You always take your girlfriend side. I don't need either of your apologies, I don't accept them." I said coldly. "Why can't you both just leave me alone? Do you both just like tormenting me?"

Ulric sighed heavily, "Aeriela, of course that isn't true—"

"Just stop." I said. I finally turned to look at him with such anger, "I don't want to hear it. It's just going to be some bad excuse and I'm tired of it. I'm tired of everything. Maybe I should have never left Uncle Ramses." I turned my head to look out on the wide open lake. "I don't belong here, everyone made that clear."

"Of course you do." he said. "Mat brought you here."

"Because I ran away. I ran away from my Uncle and she took pity on me. She says we're sisters now but I don't feel like we are. I feel like I'm some burden on her." I said out loud without meaning to but it just came out. I was letting all my anger out with my big mouth.

"You think I don't understand but I do." he said, making me roll my eyes. "Killian at one time was the golden boy of the family before he met Mat. I always was prone to causing trouble. I don't know how it happens but bad things just seem to happen around me. I'm just one big piece of bad luck. I stupidly do things without thinking and I just hurt everyone around me. People like you."

"Seems like Harley going to have allot of problems with you." I said.

"Last night, I didn't stop you from hurting Harley because of her." he said, confusing me because that's exactly what it was. He stopped me from hurting his pretty face girlfriend. "I stopped you because I knew she was no match to you. You're a strong girl and I knew you would regret it after. You were hurt and angry, I could see it all in your eyes."

I turned to look at him as I shook my head, "I call that bullshit." I said. He looked at me with those dark blue eyes and I just wanted to slap him. "You just didn't want me to scar her pretty face up."

"Really, you think that?" he asked. "Aeriela, it may be hard to believe but I care allot more about you than I do for her." he coldly said as he turned to look at me with those blue eyes. His words shocked me because I hadn't been expecting that and I inched away. He brought his hands up to his head, "I have been going out of my mind since I met you. You think I'm cold to you? It's because it's what I do for the people I care about so I don't screw anything up with them. I don't care for Harley like I care for you."

"Th-that's your girlfriend." I reminded him.

He took a step towards me with a hard look on his face, "I don't care about hurting Harley. I have done so much crap to make her stay away but she chooses to deal with my bullshit. I don't want to hurt you, Aeriela. Why don't you understand that?" he said.

My back pressed against the rock and I had to tilt my head back to talk to him, "I understand that you're confusing. Don't try to make me believe you care about me when you actually don't."

"I know if I would—try to get to close I would do something to screw it up." he said, his voice was softer now and his eyes soften. "You deserve so much more than me coming into your life and messing something up. The day I met you, I have knew there was something more about you. You are so different from the other girls I met."

"I'm wild, remember." I said, a lump forming in my throat.

He shook his head, "No you're more than that." He placed his hands on my waist and I looked down at his hands holding firmly onto me. When I looked back up at him his head was lowering and I quickly turned my head away. His mouth rested on my cheek and I breathed out roughly. He kissed my cheek and when I expected him to remove his mouth he just pecked my cheek again and lowered his mouth. He brought one hand up to the other side of my cheek to turn my face. My mouth slightly part, readying to tell him no and to leave but his mouth gently pressed against mine.

It wasn't a long kiss, more like a quick peck on the mouth. He moved his mouth away from mine and lifted his head only an inch away. We stared at each other for a moment, him waiting for me to finally push him away and tell him to go to hell. I didn't move though, my heart racing and my feet glued the ground.

He kissed me again but this time it lasted more than a second. The lingering kiss made my heart beat so quickly that I heard my own blood rushing in my ears. My eyes closed I brought a hand up behind his neck as I pressed myself closer towards him.

Mat

The curtains were pulled away and Melinda stepped out in a puffy white wedding dress. It was beautiful with a floral lace corset. It was a dress her mom picked out but I could see it wasn't Melinda favorite. "Mom, I'm not so sure. I mean, I want a very comfortable wedding and a relaxing dress. It's very hot here in Texas." Melinda said to her mom who seemed a little disappointed.

Her mom frowned, "Alright, I understand. Try the next one on."

Melinda tried on a few more other dresses and there was some she liked. I think maybe the third one was her favorite. It was a beautiful straight wedding with a lace chest and open back. She looked stunning in it and I could see her smiling happily with it on her.

The last dress she tried on was dress that was slightly puffy but not allot. The back of the shirt was a little long and laced off the shoulders sleeve that go to her elbow. The corset was a sweetheart and had diamonds all over.

"This is really pretty." she said, looking at herself in the three mirrors.

I walked over next to her, nodding my head. It was a pretty dress I'll admit. It was very beautiful and something I would probably wear. It was stunning and Melinda looked gorgeous in it. "Yeah, I like it allot."

Melinda ran her hand down the corset then she suddenly took in a sharp breath and a grin appeared on her face, "You should try it on!" she said.

My eyes widen, "What?" I quickly asked. "Oh no, no way am I getting in one of these dresses. Isn't my thing."

She grabbed my hand, "Oh come on, what's the harm in trying it on?" She dragged me over towards the dressing room, "Oh this is going to be fun!"

She forced the dress on me and it surprisingly fit me perfectly. She laced the corset up and I had to lean against the wall as she tighten it on me. My boobs were slightly pushed up, which wasn't so bad since my boobs weren't the biggest. She opened the curtain up and dragged me out. I looked at myself in the mirror and thought I would be horrified to find myself in a wedding dress. Literally, I had nightmares of dreaming that I was in a wedding dress. But now that I was awake—it wasn't as bad as a dream was.

"Whoa." I breathed out as I looked at myself.

Melinda grabbed my curly hair and pulled it up, "Have you hair up nicely and you would be a stunning bride." she said. I don't know why I was so calm right now when I always thought this would be the worst thing I could do in my life—but it wasn't. The dress was beautiful and something I wouldn't mind wearing. In the mirror I noticed a poster behind us of a married couple getting their pictures taken. They were both under veil and smiling at each other happily. Melinda sighed happily, "When are you and Killian going to get married? Boy will look very handsome in a tux, don't you think?"

I have seen Killian in a tux since he was a groomsman in Devin wedding and he looked very, very handsome.

Melinda decided she would get the third dress she tried on. The ladies took her measurements and said her dress should be ready in two weeks. We decided to get something to eat so we went to a cafe shop across the street where they told sandwiches.

I was eating a ham and cheese sandwich when I saw something in the corner of my eyes. I turned to look out the window and I had to squint a little. Across the street I swear I recognized the man across the street walking out of a sports store. I wasn't very sure since he wasn't dressed in the same gear he wore when him and those other Hunter raided our camp. He was in normal jeans and a t-shirt. But his face—it looked so familiar and since my vision wasn't any better I couldn't be for sure.

I quickly got out of the chair and quickly ran over towards the door. Melinda yelled my name but I ignored her. I watched the man get into his car and the closer I got towards him I was becoming more and more sure.

"Hey." I yelled out when he opened his door. He lifted his head and looked right at me. His eyes widen slightly and I knew I wasn't going crazy. He recognized me. "Oh so you do remember me—hey, get out!" I yelled when he quickly got into his car and locked the door. I banged against the door, "Not so brave when you don't have a gun, huh!" I felt my eyes turned to amber and sapphire because of the usual quick pain I get. I bared my teeth as I slammed my hand through the window breaking it. I grabbed Shane by his shirt and pulled his head out, "You tried to kill my pack."

He scoffed, "I see it didn't work, you're still alive." he said.

I growled warningly at him, "Who are you working for, huh? Don't fuck with me, it'll be a very bad idea if you do." He just snorted, lifting his chin up to show bravery and I scoffed. I broke his neck near the piece of broken glass still stuck in the window and his eyes widen.

"Y-you're not going to kill me." he said. "We know about your kind, you don't kill humans."

"Well guess what, buddy. I'm can be wild, meaning we're not that scared." I said. I growled, pressing his neck against the broken glass. "You messed with my pack. There were children there! You really think I won't do it?"

"Hey! Let go of him!" I heard voices. My head quickly turned to the left where I saw the complex shopping center security coming out in the parking lot.

I heard a phone going off and I looked back inside Shane car. I saw a phone going off in the cup holder and I saw a picture of a woman on the phone. I closed my eyes tightly before opening it, wondering where have I seen this woman before.

A gun appeared in my vision. Shane was holding it at me and I growled at him. I let go of him and he continued to point it at me until he speeded off.
