Chapter 8

On a calm evening, the Raichand house was unusually quiet as the family finished their dinner. Rahul, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the wedding preparations, decided to step out onto the balcony for some fresh air. The moon was bright, casting a soft glow over the city, and Rahul found himself lost in thought as he leaned on the railing, gazing up at the sky.

It wasn't long before Vani and Vihaan, always attuned to their brother's mood, followed him outside. They quietly joined him on the balcony, one on each side, without saying a word at first. They knew Rahul well enough to understand that sometimes, silence was the best way to offer comfort.

After a few minutes, Vani broke the silence with her usual playful tone. "Bhai, if you keep staring at the moon like that, it might think you're in love with it instead of bhabhi."

Rahul let out a small laugh, shaking his head. "You and your teasing, Vani. I'm just...thinking."

Vihaan, never one to miss a chance to join in, added, "Thinking or daydreaming? Because I’ve noticed you’ve been doing a lot of the latter these days."

Rahul smiled softly. "Maybe a bit of both. You know, a lot is changing so fast. I’m getting married, starting a new chapter, and it just feels...surreal."

Vani's teasing expression softened as she nudged Rahul's shoulder. "You're going to be just fine, Bhai. Suhani is amazing, and you two are perfect for each other. It's okay to feel nervous, but don’t forget to enjoy this time too."

Vihaan nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Bhai. You've always been there for us, guiding us through our messes. Now it’s our turn to remind you that everything will work out. You deserve all the happiness coming your way."

Rahul looked at his younger siblings, his heart swelling with affection. They had grown up so much, and he felt lucky to have them by his side through everything. "Thanks, you two. I don’t say it often, but it means a lot to me that you're here, supporting me."

Vani grinned. "Of course, Bhai! We're a team, remember? Always and forever."

Vihaan chuckled. "And besides, who else will keep you grounded if not us?"

The three of them shared a quiet laugh, the bond between them stronger than ever. As they stood together on the balcony, the moon shining above, Rahul felt a sense of peace. No matter what the future held, he knew he could face it with his siblings by his side.

While the Raichand siblings enjoyed their heartfelt moment on the balcony, the atmosphere at the Sharma household was quite the opposite—bustling with activity. The preparations for the upcoming wedding were in full swing, and everyone was caught up in the chaos.

Naina was in the kitchen, overseeing the preparation of snacks and sweets for the upcoming family gatherings. She moved quickly, directing the house help with the ease of someone who had done this many times before. Every now and then, she would pause to taste something, ensuring everything was perfect. "Ami, pass me the sugar," she called out, not missing a beat as she stirred a pot on the stove.

Ami, meanwhile, was busy sorting through a pile of wedding invitations, double-checking the guest list and making sure nothing was left out. She glanced at the clock, realizing how late it was getting. "Mom, do you think Suhani will have time to look at these invitations? She’s been so busy with work and all."

Naina sighed, wiping her hands on her apron. "I know, beta, but we have to manage somehow. Suhani has so much on her plate with the hospital and the wedding. We’ll just have to make sure everything is ready on our end so she doesn’t have to worry."

Aman, on the other hand, was seated in the living room, surrounded by a mountain of paperwork related to the wedding logistics. He was busy finalizing contracts with the caterers, decorators, and musicians, his phone constantly ringing with questions and updates. "Yes, yes, everything must be delivered on time. There can’t be any delays," he said firmly into the phone.

In the midst of all this, Suhani’s grandmother sat in her favorite armchair, watching the hustle and bustle with a knowing smile. "This house hasn’t been this lively in years," she remarked to no one in particular. "It reminds me of when we were preparing for your uncle’s wedding, Naina."

Naina smiled warmly at her mother-in-law. "Yes, Maa. Weddings have a way of bringing everyone together, even if it means a bit of chaos."

Upstairs, Suhani was finally catching her breath after a long day. She had just finished her last-minute beauty appointment and was getting ready to wind down for the night when Ami burst into her room, looking flustered. "Didi, the invitations need your approval, and Mom is asking if you’ve picked out your jewelry for the wedding functions yet."

Suhani sighed, rubbing her temples. "I’ll look at the invitations now, and as for the jewelry, I’ll choose it tomorrow. Today has been exhausting."

Ami nodded sympathetically. "Don’t worry, Didi. I’ll take care of as much as I can. You just focus on what’s important."

Suhani smiled gratefully at her sister. "Thanks, Ami. I don’t know what I’d do without you."

As the night wore on, the Sharma household buzzed with the anticipation and excitement of the upcoming wedding, every corner filled with love, laughter, and the occasional bit of stress. Despite the chaos, there was an undercurrent of joy that kept everyone going—knowing that soon, Suhani would be stepping into a new chapter of her life.

The day before the engagement, both the Sharma and Raichand families arrived at the venue to ensure everything was perfect for the upcoming event. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as they gathered in the beautifully decorated hall.

Priti, Rahul's mother, walked around the venue with a keen eye, inspecting every detail. "The flower arrangements are beautiful," she remarked, admiring the fresh blooms that adorned the entrance. Naina, Suhani’s mother, nodded in agreement, adding, "Yes, they did a wonderful job. Everything looks elegant."

Meanwhile, Rahul and Suhani stood off to the side, watching their families work together. Suhani nudged Rahul playfully. "Looks like they’ve got everything under control," she said with a smile. Rahul chuckled, "Yeah, they’re more excited than we are."

Vihaan and Vani were busy inspecting the stage where the couple would exchange rings. Vihaan, ever the teaser, said, "Bhai, make sure you don’t trip on the steps tomorrow. Wouldn’t want you falling head over heels again!" Vani giggled, adding, "Or maybe that’s exactly what we need for some drama!"

Rahul rolled his eyes but couldn’t help but laugh. "You two just wait. Your time will come soon enough, and I’ll be there with a camera."

As the families discussed the final details, Aman, Suhani's father, turned to Piyush, Rahul’s father. "Everything seems to be in order. I’m sure tomorrow will be a memorable day for our children." Piyush smiled warmly, "Indeed. We’re not just gaining a daughter-in-law, but an entire family."

With everything checked and double-checked, the families left the venue feeling satisfied. The excitement for the engagement was palpable, and both sides knew that the next day would be the beginning of a beautiful journey for Rahul and Suhani.
