Chapter 15

As the Sangeet ceremony came to a close, the guests began to say their goodbyes and head home. Rahul and Suhani stood together, reluctant to part ways despite the end of the event. The night was filled with a mix of joy and the bittersweet feeling of knowing they’d soon be embarking on a new chapter together.

Vani, with her usual flair for drama and mischief, approached the couple. She looked at them with a teasing smile and said, “Well, you two, tomorrow’s the wedding. Umar bhar saath rehna, remember?”

Rahul and Suhani exchanged a loving glance, their eyes reflecting both excitement and a touch of nervousness. Suhani responded, smiling warmly, “We’ll be together for a lifetime, don’t worry.”

Vani chuckled and added, “Enjoy tonight while you can. Tomorrow is the start of forever!”

With that, she waved them off, leaving Rahul and Suhani with their thoughts and emotions, both eager and ready for the journey ahead. They hugged each other tightly, savoring the last moments of their pre-wedding excitement before they parted ways for the night.

As Rahul, Vani, and Vihaan settled into the balcony after freshening up, the night air was calm, and the stars sparkled above. Rahul was in a reflective mood, still processing the day’s events.

Vihaan, grinning mischievously, asked, “So, bhai, how was it handling that girl who tried to kiss you today?”

Rahul chuckled, shaking his head. “It was a chaotic moment. I had no idea she had a crush on me until she tried to kiss me. It all happened so fast.”

Vani leaned in, clearly interested. “And what about Suhani? How did she react?”

Rahul’s face softened, a mix of admiration and amusement showing. “Suhani was fierce. She slapped the girl hard and gave her a piece of her mind. It was intense. I was shocked to see her so protective and possessive, but I loved her even more for it.”

Vihaan’s eyes widened with intrigue. “Seriously? That’s pretty amazing. Did you do anything?”

Rahul smiled, remembering the moment. “Yeah, I stepped in and kissed Suhani while she was yelling at the girl. It was a way to show her that I’m with her, no matter what.”

Vani’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “That sounds like a scene from a movie. And how did the girl react?”

Rahul laughed. “She was stunned. I don’t think she expected Suhani to react like that. But it was a clear message—Suhani and I are together, and no one’s going to come between us.”

Vihaan shook his head, still amused. “Well, at least now everyone knows where they stand. Suhani’s definitely a keeper.”

Vani nodded in agreement. “I guess that’s why she’s perfect for you. She’s not just beautiful but also strong and protective.”

Rahul leaned back, a contented smile on his face. “I couldn’t ask for anyone better.”

As the siblings continued to talk, they enjoyed the peaceful night, their conversation flowing effortlessly. The bond between them was evident, filled with love, humor, and the excitement of the upcoming wedding.

As the conversation continued, Vihaan’s playful side came out again. “So, bhai, do you think we’ll have a little bundle of joy in the family within a year of your wedding?”

Rahul laughed, raising an eyebrow. “Well, that’s a bit forward, don’t you think? Let’s not rush things.”

Vihaan grinned mischievously. “Just asking. It’s something to look forward to, right?”

Rahul, half-jokingly, pretended to be offended. “Oh, is that so? If you keep asking such questions, I might have to chase you down!”

Vihaan, taking the challenge, bolted toward the stairs. Rahul immediately sprang up, chasing him with mock anger. “You think you can just ask such things and get away?”

Vihaan ran downstairs, laughing, with Rahul hot on his heels. The commotion caught Priti’s attention. She stood at the bottom of the stairs, looking puzzled as Rahul and Vihaan came into view.

Priti raised an eyebrow. “What’s going on here?”

Vihaan, out of breath and still laughing, quickly explained, “Mumma, Rahul’s chasing me because I asked him if we’d have a baby within a year of the wedding. He’s pretending to beat me!”

Priti’s expression softened as she watched the playful banter. She shook her head with a smile. “You two are impossible. Just make sure you don’t actually hurt each other.”

Rahul, finally catching up, put his hands up in a mock surrender. “I swear, I was just giving him a hard time.”

Priti chuckled, shaking her head at their antics. “Alright, alright. Let’s get back to enjoying the evening.”

As they settled back into a more relaxed atmosphere, the family continued to enjoy each other’s company, their playful interactions a testament to their close-knit bond.

At Suhani’s place, the atmosphere was anything but calm. Her siblings were in full swing, turning every corner of the house into a scene of lively chaos.

Ami, always full of energy, was in the middle of the living room, holding a stack of wedding decorations and trying to figure out where to place them. “We need to get these garlands up! What do you think, should we put them here or over there?”

Krish, meanwhile, was attempting to organize the seating arrangements but kept getting distracted by the wedding playlist. “Ami, focus! We need to finalize the seating chart before we can start on the decorations.”

Suhani, who had been watching the chaos unfold, shook her head with a smile. “You guys are making a mess! Can we please get some order here?”

Ami, not missing a beat, grabbed a handful of confetti and threw it into the air. “Come on, it’s a celebration! A little mess won’t hurt.”

Krish tried to keep up with the orders being given to him, but his attempts only seemed to add to the confusion. “Do we really need this many flowers? I think we’re overdoing it.”

Suhani sighed, trying to keep her composure. “Just get it done. We don’t have all day.”

Amidst the chaos, their parents, Aman and Naina, were busy trying to keep things under control. Aman was setting up the food, while Naina tried to calm the excited younger siblings. “Can we please have a bit of organization here? We need to make sure everything is perfect for tomorrow.”

Despite the frantic energy, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and good-natured bickering. The siblings, although causing a commotion, were enjoying every moment of the wedding preparations, their antics a testament to their close-knit relationship.

As the whirlwind of activity continued around the house, Ami and Krish suddenly paused. They looked at each other, the reality of the situation hitting them with full force.

Ami, who had been laughing and joking just moments before, found herself staring at the wedding decorations in a new light. “Krish,” she said softly, “I can’t believe it. Suhani is actually getting married.”

Krish, who was in the middle of arranging chairs, stopped and leaned against a table, his face reflecting the same realization. “I know. It feels like just yesterday we were kids, and now...”

They both looked towards Suhani, who was busy directing the final touches of the decorations. Her excitement was evident, but so was the gravity of the moment. The house was filled with the buzz of preparations, but for Ami and Krish, it felt like everything had slowed down.

Ami’s eyes softened as she spoke, “I remember when we were growing up, we always thought about the future, but now that it’s actually here, it’s overwhelming.”

Krish nodded, his voice catching a bit, “Yeah, it’s hard to believe how fast time has gone by. She’s going to start a new chapter in her life.”

They watched as Suhani turned around, her face glowing with a mix of happiness and anticipation. “We’re going to miss her so much,” Ami said quietly.

Krish placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “We’ll be okay. It’s a big change, but it’s a happy one. She’s found someone who makes her happy, and that’s what matters.”

Ami wiped away a tear that had formed in the corner of her eye. “Yeah, you’re right. This is a new beginning for her, and we have to support her all the way.”

As they shared a quiet moment of reflection, the realization that their sister was starting a new chapter in her life filled them with a bittersweet sense of pride and love. The chaos of the preparations seemed to fade into the background as they embraced the importance of the day ahead.
