CHAPTER TWELVE: Going Back Home
▬▬ C L A I R E ▬▬
THE FIRST DAY OF THE UNIVERSITY ENDED IMMEDIATELY.
It had been a long day and I told myself that I might need to rest. I was almost overwhelmed by the duration of the classes earlier.
Our Math lasted for almost two hours and Politics followed immediately so I almost rotted in my seat.
Sam and I went to meet again at the gate and walked out of the university together. We decided to just ride a jeepney to get home - because Sam didn't bring her car.
"Do you think your aunt will be angry when you ask her permission to go on that trip?" she asked me as I paused for a moment. Wait, how can I ask her? I'm a bit nervous at this point.
Blinking, I answered but I couldn't help but hide the concern in the tone of my voice, "What if I just leave without telling her?"
"Hey, don't be like that. If she finds out that you went on a trip without telling her, your aunt will likely be madder at you. " Anyway, she has a point there.
Going on that trip will be harder if ever I lied to her and Sam was right about that.
When we got out of the university, just in time a white Honda Civic stopped on our left.
This car looks so familiar.
We just ignored it, because we both thought that maybe it was just waiting for someone or the driver was going somewhere and would just leave it here for a while.
After all, we also have no right to be curious 'cause that's their car.
We walked a few steps away from the car and waited for a ride. We don't want to block the way to whoever's driving it.
But since the other students are going home, we have almost no jeepneys to ride because it quickly gets filled up with other people.
When we actually decided to take a taxi, someone robbed our ride and said that they were ahead of us and that they were the ones close when it stopped.
Bad luck once again.
"The audacity. Think about it, they took our ride. He wasn't even the one who called that cab, "Samantha complained angrily to me as we looked at the departing car.
"Let it go, Sam. We can still find another one, " I calmly replied back to her while she couldn't help herself but frown.
And while she did that, she had her arms crossed - frustrated at the situation.
Turning to my left, I saw Ethan's friend wearing a blue headset and entered the white Honda Civic that had been parked there earlier.
When I noticed his facial expression, I realized that he was not happy and was obviously bored and irritated. His cold brown eyes stared intently at the car before he even went inside earlier.
He's not in the driver's seat. He sat in the shotgun.
Ignoring it, I immediately looked for another ride. Why should I even try to know who the driver is?
Maybe he's waiting for something else, right? Maybe a girlfriend, I would never know.
"Claire! There is already a taxi. Let's call that one. " I immediately heard Sam speak so I immediately blinked.
When I saw it, I couldn't help but smile. Finally, maybe we can finally get home with this ride.
I was about to stop the taxi but I was surprised when I noticed that the Honda Civic I had seen earlier had pulled back and was fast approaching me.
To my surprise, I couldn't help but shout.
"What the hell? Hey! Stop the car!" In my grip, I suddenly hit the back of the car so I saw it stop backing away.
I heard the loud horn from the car so it caught the students' attention around. If that driver did this purposely, I swear, they deserve it.
A few minutes went by and when the driver got off, I couldn't help but widen my eyes.
No, it can't be.
Ethan immediately closed his car door, glared at me, and approached me. His eyes pierced at mine - as if he was ready to kill me if something had happened to his car.
But before he could speak, he looked at the trunk. Luckily, there wasn't any damage. Not even a dent, nothing.
"Hey, why did you hit my car?" he asked me angrily as I stood firm.
"You're the one who keeps on backing up. If I hadn't hit your car, who knows when you'll stop that car of yours. " I pointed at his car.
"Anyway, that's okay," I told him.
"You don't have to worry, Ethan. At least there aren't any damages, "I said coldly as I emphasized his name. Immediately his eyes widened at me.
And I was just surprised that instead of hitting me, he just turned his back on me and went back to his car. He opened the door, immediately started his car, and left - leaving me confused.
Why was he speechless all of a sudden?
