#1 - The Reunite, How People See It The First Time
Leo stood at the front deck of the Argo II. An island up ahead grew closer and closer. Blue water, white sand.... Leo knew he had been going the right way. Even with the crystal and the new activation in Festus, it was hard to find the island of Ogygia.
Leo brushed off his jeans, straightened his jacket, zipped up his flyer (eek...) at studied the island. He was coming closer to it every minute. He was so close now.
Leo shook his Wii remote controller and the boat slowed down. Soon, it would make a steady stopping point, just as Leo wanted. If anything, he needed a smooth enterence.
Before he knew it Leo was approaching the shore. Leo looked at the reflection in the windows. Stunning, as usual. He sighed. He was so nervous he couldn't think straight.
Leo took a deep breath and straightened. It would be fine.
Leo rubbed his hands. He still hadn't told his friends about her. He was still nervous about what would happen. He'd left it at "a surprise!" so that if he was neglected, he would still be able to buy a jumbo jar of cheese puffs or something before he returned to camp. If this worked out, then, boy were they getting a surprise.
Leo let his ship stop at a good docking point. "Perfect," He said. He looked up. "Now, for Calypso."
* * *
Calypso sat in her cave fiddling with yarn. She'd meant to knit something, but it was so pointless that she just couldn't bring herself to do it.
Her thoughts shifted to Leo. Again. His smile, his laugh, his jokes... he was different from the others. She knew it. And she knew she said that every time a hero left, but Leo... Leo did what the others failed to do. He dared her to hope. And it almost worked. But she was always so shallow and never gave happy endings chance. She would never get off this island. It was impossible. A tear struck her eye.
She heard a very strange sound coming from outside.
Another hero? No, way too soon. And way too loud. Calypso snatched a frying pan from her indoor dining table and slowly crept outside.
It was pretty dark outside, so it was hard to see much of anything. Calypso carefully walked towards the strange sound. Like a boat shifting in wet sand. Calypso knew her sounds well.
Then she screamed. A gigantic dragon-monster was right in front of her. Surprised, shocked, and scared, she threw her frying pan at the beast. It hit it right in the head.
"Hey!" Yelled a voice. "You're going to dent my dragon!"
Huh?
Calypso blinked to see that the dragon was made of a shimmering material. Celestial Bronze. Had it talked? Was it her imagination? After years in captivity, had she finally gone loopy?
Calypso squinted to see the dragon was a mast connected to a large ship. She looked up to see a figure standing at the mast. The one and only, Leo Valdez, grinning wildly at her.
Calypso stummbled back it shock. "L- Leo..."
He jumped over the side of the boat and stood. Calypso could tell he was just as nervous as she was.
Leo looked at her slyly. He gestered towards his dragon, who Calypso guessed was Festus. "You dented my dragon."
Calypso ran to him, hard as she could. As she came closer she could see Leo's shyness waver back into it's recongizable smile. He stepped foreward to greet her.
Calypso was preparing for a hug. Leo surprised her with something more.
He grabbed her shoulders and pulled her into a kiss. She kissed back harder, tears in her eyes. He was really here! He had come back! He'd done the immpossible! Calypso wrapped her arms around Leo's neck as they kissed. He was holding her with one arm around her back and the other one holding her head. More tears came.
She wanted to stay there forever, so when Leo let go, she attacked him with a bear hug.
"You came back." She whispered into his ear. "You really came back."
"I told you I would," Leo said. "You thought I would break that promise?"
Leo held her in her arms. An unknown love for Leo struck her heart.
"You don't break promises, huh?" Calypso asked, her smile spreading. She hadn't smiled like this since the curse. Even before then, she wouldn't smile much. It felt so good to smile again.
"I try to keep my trust." Leo stepped back and admired her. "You know, being a good person and all."
Calypso laughed. "Yeah, that's why you came back. For the sake of being good."
He shrugged. "Give or take." He looked at Festus. "Festus, meet Calypso."
"Huh?" Calypso said. She was nuzzled by the large dragon. But she didn't mind - she was much too happy to care that much, anyways. The dragon wasn't that scary after all.
"Hmm." Leo rubbed his chin. "We got a nine-hour flight ahead of us, Calypso, so you should probably get packing. We can leave in the morning."
Calypso looked up. "What do you mean?"
Leo smirked at her. "You don't seriously think I'm cruel enough to leave you again, do you? I got permission from the gods."
Calypso's eyes widened. "Are you saying...."
"That's right, Sunshine." Leo's eyes glittered with mischeif. "You're coming with me. You're free."
Calypso wanted to kiss him again so badly. But Leo was right - she had packing to do.
But she made sure she would kiss him a thank you on the ship.
