Chapter 9 - Clubs Part 2
When we entered, the room was pretty much empty.
The room was dark and hollow, no sound within it, any bright lights non-existent
"Jeez... And I thought I was dramatic." Vani muttered to me. I briefly nodded, taking a few cautious steps into the room
"W-Wait... Hema!" She whispered in a shout at me. I glanced back at her, the open door behind her being my only source of light
"What?"
"I almost forgot to mention that-"
"Welcome to the Dark Magic Club!" I yelped, whirling around and whacking the person in the face, "Owie!"
"That Nekozawa has the tendency to do... that." She stated in a very late reply, reaching towards the wall in hopes of finding a lightswitch. I shrunk back, feeling slightly embarrassed for punching... Nekozawa?
"Aha! Found it!" The lights to the room turned on in almost unison, revealing the cloaked figure of Nekozawa, who still sat on the floor, holding onto the side of his head
"I- Uhm.." I cleared my throat, shaking my head before crouching down in front of Nekozawa, "I'm sorry for hitting you, Nekozawa. It wasn't on purpos-"
"Nyeh, it's fine..." He shook his head. I offered my hand out to him to help him up. He gave me his left hand, granting me to pull him up. I pulled him back up to his feet, slightly jumped when I saw a puppet on his right hand
"Umm..."
"This is Beelzenef, and I am Nekozawa, leader of the Black Magic Club! How may I assist you, fellow lover of the dark arts?!" He asked me in a bow, while waving Beelzenef
"I'm Vanessa, and this is Hemalyn. We are here to learn about your club." Vani stated, slinging her arm over my shoulders with a grin. Nekozawa nodded
"I shall give you a grand tour of our headquarters!"
"Our? I don't see-" I was about to say before Nekozawa unintentionally caught me off, "The rest of the members are here with us in spirit, and many others decided to transfer to other schools to become part of their own Black Magic Clubs! Quite interesting, yes?" I furrowed my brow, this guy can't seriously be this enthusiastic... Can he?
"Awesome, so where do we start... Hmm... What made you form this club on this specific subject?" Vani asked him, pretending to write notes on her hand
"Erm... I didn't per say form this establishment, it was handed down to me after the former leader, graduated and inevitably died in a plane crash." He stated in a dull tone, all enthusiasm that was once there, now gone, just like my innocence to the outside world. After a few seconds, Vani cleared her throat
"Okay... And what exactly do you do in the Black Magic Club?"
"It is for all of the lovers of the dark arts, we practice incantations, spells, potions, all related to Black Magic in preparation for Dooms Day or whenever we may need it."
"And how has that helped you so far?" I asked, feeling my uneasiness slip away, now I was being blunt
"50/50."
"So it just depends whether you succeed or not?" Vani asked him and he shook his head, now it was his turn to be blunt, "50/50 on either getting beat up or becoming part of the earth."
"Okay then..." Vani muttered, crossing out her imaginary note
"But, isn't that the same thing?" I asked him
"No."
"Alright! So, anything else interesting?"
"Beelzenef shall tell you the rest of the amazing things we do!" Nekozawa stated, wait what? Beelzenef began to move from position to position, moving his tiny arms as if he was talking but no sound came out. I tried my best to look interested. I watched for Nekozawa's reaction, nodding when he nodded, or grunting when I 'understood'; what Beelzenef was telling us
"And that's all for now, what do you girls think? Do you want to join the Black Magic Club?!" He asked us. We exchanged looks before slowing shaking our heads
"I'm sorry, Nekozawa. But we didn't come here to join-" His face faltered, making me feel guilty
"-We came to be friends with you!" I blurted out without thinking through my words.
