Chapter 39 - Drive
"Going to a resort will have an effect on your mental state, some studies suggest that going on vacation even for a day will boost your mood dramatically. I say this is what you need." He stated, flipping through some papers on his desk, papers that needed to be filed but was left out for his other patients. He gripped hold of one folder, pulling it out once he recognized the name on it, "Also, we have results back on your brain scans, along with your genealogy." I blinked, really?
"When did this happen?"
"Two days ago, your brain scan results came in and just yesterday, we got confirmation about your genes." He walked back over to me, setting the folder down onto the table in front of me.
"Would you like me to call your mother in here?" He questioned. I shook my head, they would be seeing it when I was done here. So Mother could wait a bit longer.
"I will wait to show it to them when they are both in the same room." I stated and he nodded, smiling. "Your speech has gotten better, I have noticed." I blushed, messing with my bangs to distract myself for the moment.
"O-Oh, it has huh?"
"That's good. Shows how much you are progressing these past weeks since coming here." I nodded in agreement. It was a small improvement, I mean I still got nervous here and there, anxiety inducing even but it wasn't as bad as before. Have I really changed? Before any self-doubt could form in my mind, he spoke up again.
"Would you like to see the results? Or wait until both of your mothers are with you?"
"I would like to see it before t-them, so I could process it."
"Very well, you are free to. If you have any questions don't refrain to ask me.".

"
Yeeeaaaaahhhh! We going on our first trip together besides the restroom!" I let out a small giggle, shaking my head, "You didn't have to scream that at the top of your lungs, Vani."
"And why not? It's a normal place for us humans to go to... Unless you are secretly a interdimensional alien!" She whirled around, her hair going with her as she pointed an accusing finger towards me. I put my hands up in mock defense.
"Oh, W-Well you certainly caught me red handed." The stutter was unintentional, but seemed to solidify her case of me being an 'alien'. She let out a gasp.
"How dare! And to think I have been friends with an alien this whole time! You will pay for this with..." My anxiety spiked, for a moment thinking she was serious by the tone of her voice and the look she gave me.
"YOUR UNDYING LOVE!" She thrusted herself upon me, bringing me into a bone crushing hug. I let out a squeak of surprise, face growing hot from the sudden affection.
"Aww! Hema-Chan and Vani-Chan are so cute!" I looked over and spotted Honey and Mori down the hall, watching the whole scene play out in I hope is amusement.
"Oh hello there you two! I thought you fellas would have left already." Vani stated, letting go of me but opted to just having her arm swung around my neck as I calmed down my breathing, my face hot from embarrassment.
"We wanted to wait for everyone to group up! You got everything?" I nodded, readjusting my duffel bag over my shoulder. I didn't bring much since we were only staying for the weekend, even when Mother double checked my bags and tried stuffing a week's worth of clothing into it (Which I definitely didn't need) and ended up taking most of it out.
"Yep~ My animals will be fine without me, the maids will make sure that they will get plenty of affection."
"Don't you have a birdie at home, Hema-Chan?" Honey questioned, which I nodded.
"Yeah... Mother will be taking care of Phonex until I get back since he doesn't really like Mom..." I trailed off, hearing the blond giggle in understanding.
Around ten minutes passed by- Vani getting a conversation going with Honey while Mori and I initiated in small talk. With the man of few words, it was fairly easy to hold somewhat of a conversation with him- As I didn't talk as much either. At least not outloud. He seemed to enjoy the conversation we were having, even if he was short with replies and small hums of agreement.
"Ah, Miss Hiro and Miss Alderain." I jumped, looking over to see Kyoya making his way over to us, his hands stuffed into his pockets and changed out of his uniform like the rest of us.
"What did I say, Duck? Call me Vanessa or Vani." Vani stated with a small huff towards Kyoya's direction. He rose a brow, eyes narrowing behind the frames of his glasses, "And I told you to stop calling me that blasphemous name."
"Oooo~ Big words, Duck!" He sighed heavily before glancing towards me, offering his hand out to me.
"I can take your bag, Miss Alderain. The limo is already waiting outside of the school for us." I hesitantly handed it over to him, watching from the corner of my eye of how annoyed Vani became for ignoring her.
"Oi, Duck-!"
"I would take your luggage as well, Miss Hiro. But, that nickname you have given me is quite troublesome." He smirked at her and Vani glared, "I will show you troublesome-!"
"Hey guys!" Haruhi appeared, huffing and puffing as if they ran the whole way here. I sighed in relief, glad that Haruhi's presence distracted the two from going at each other's throats. Whether it be in friendly banter or not.
"You okay, Haruhi? You look like you ran a marathon." Vani questioned, Haruhi nodded.
"Y-Yeah! I just missed my cab so I ran all the way here to meet up with you guys on time."
"We could have easily picked you up, you didn't need to run." Kyoya stated quickly before leaving, not even giving them a chance to reply. (A/N: Throughout this chapter I will refer to Haruhi as they/them as I can't remember if Hemalyn and Vani know of Haruhi's gender/sex. I'm too tired and lazy to look back on previous chapters).
"Wow Duck, how rude..."
"You are still calling Kyoya... 'Duck'?" Vani nodded to Haruhi's question.
"He is still calling me, 'Miss Hiro' so I shall keep calling him Duck! It helps when he looks like one." Honey let out a loud laugh at the comparison. I let out a small laugh as well, coughing lightly when my throat began to feel ticklish.
Soon enough everyone was present, Tamaki and Kyoya making sure everyone was here, making sure the twins really didn't have anything dangerous or condescending that they put into their bags (Apparently, it wasn't the first time). And overall, we were all on the same page.
With one quick glance to Tamaki, I noticed him already staring back at me. My cheeks growing warm as we held eye contact for a few seconds. Both of us looking away at the same time. The small action going unnoticed by the people around us as we headed to the limo and climbed in.
I was let in first, after learning that it would be better to give me a window seat because of my tendencies to get carsick, even after taking my medicine for it. It was always good to be by the window for fresh air and if I needed to suddenly hurl.
Haruhi slid in next to me, and to the opposite of us the twin, the gingers of the Hitachiin family talking in friendly banter about how they could easily throw one another out the window if they really wanted to. I didn't really understand their humor in that.
The limo door closed, Kyoya being the last one to slide in before knocking on the wall behind him, telling the driver to get moving, we were all inside the vehicle.
Vani sat next to the twins, immediately pulling out her phone and earbuds to listen to music to block out any conversations the twins would try to have with her, their golden brown eyes twinkling in mischief as they then proceeded to say outrageous phrases to see if she would be able to read their lips, a popular game called the Whisper Challenge.
I for the most part, ignored their banter; looking out the window with my head propped up on my hand, Haruhi beside me talking to Honey and Mori, who were seated beside her.
After a short while, I let out a small cough, covering my mouth with my arm as I felt the same tickling feeling. Maybe some water would help?
One of the twins, I think Kaoru, seemed to have the same idea, handing me one of the small water bottles to me. I muttered a small thank you, opening it carefully as the limo made a turn, not wanting to spill water all over the place.
I sipped on the water gingerly, eyes trained on everyone's faces briefly in observation, seeing Kyoya whispering something to Tamaki, who was getting more red in the face, as if teasing him. I furrowed my brows, curious as to what their conversation entailed, as I could not hear it.
---
I
rubbed my eyes, yawning tiredly as I was being shaken awake, the sun now setting, meaning it was getting pretty late after I supposedly dozed off.
I cracked open an eye, coming face to face with Tamaki smiling kindly at me. "Come on, we are here." He whispered to me, not wanting me to get startled from my half-asleep state. I nodded softly, still feeling drowsy and weighted down, earning a small chuckle from Tamaki.
"Here, I will carry you inside where you can sleep some more before dinner." Tamaki told me. I didn't give him an answer, only staring at him as he helped me out of the limo before wrapping his arm around my back and the other under my legs, picking me up easily. 'Damn, he is warm...' I thought to myself, feeling the chilly breeze hit against us. I involuntarily buried myself further into him to keep warm. He didn't seem to mind it.
As Tamaki brought me inside, Mori propping the door open for us, I could briefly see Vani give me a thumbs up, my cheeks growing warmer than they were before.
Tamaki seemed to know where he was going well, as he didn't seemed confused on which hallway to go down to, from what I could gather. All of the bedrooms we were staying in resided on the first floor. What was upstairs I could only guess were more bedrooms but I couldn't be sure. Tamaki was light on his feet, barely making any sound on the hardwood floor.
He opened the door, slightly switching me to rest primary in his right arm to grasp a hold of the doorknob and open it. He walked into the vacant room, the slowly setting sun streaming through the window. He placed me on the bed, smiling softly at me.
"I will come and get you when dinner is ready, alright?" I nodded, returning the smile before he exited the room, shutting the door behind him.
