Chapter 25 - Butterflies
3rd Person's POV
Kyoya watched his best friend nervousness get to him. It was amusing, Kyoya knew that. What made it ironic though, this was his job, to make young ladies happy. And yet when it came to Hemalyn Alderain, he could barely flirt. They were going to part ways soon, Tamaki was going to meet up with Hemalyn at the doors to the academy, and he was trying to figure out what to say on their 'date'. If you could even call it that.
"The weather is nice? No... Uh, yellow suits you?" Kyoya wrinkled his nose in dissaproval. "Yellow is not her color Tamaki. She is a ginger."
"What does that have to do with it?!" Tamaki asked out of frustration. Kyoya sighed heavily, wanting so badly to just knock him out.
"What suits a girl color wise depends on their features. In this case, yellow just makes her look even more pale than she already is. She would lean more towards darker colors."
"Like you, Night King?" Tamaki asked, using the nickname that Kyoya actually liked. "Yes. That is because of my complexion, and you can't see most stains on black clothing."
"IS THAT YOUR SECRET?!"
"Ahem." The two halted, staring at the raven haired girl before them. Vani rose a brow.
"Nervous?" Tamaki tried to mask his nervousness with a chuckle, shaking his head.
"Uh no- We were just talking about science today."
"Science was cancelled today. And you two weren't talking about color theory." Tamaki gulped, Vani seeing right through his ruse.
"What brings you here, Miss Hiro?" Kyoya asked her charmingly. She ignored his slender voice and gestured to where they were heading.
"Hemalyn is changing out of her school uniform. After all, yellow doesn't suit her." Vani mocked Kyoya. Kyoya grunted before clearing his throat.
"Did she hear us?" Tamaki asked Kyoya quietly, most likely not talking about Vani. Kyoya light shook his head, keeping his eyes on Vani's smug look.
"No. The more logical reason is because you two are going to the festival. She would look out of place with her uniform." Kyoya informed him.
"Which reminds me... You might want to change too, Tamaki. Out of your uniform I mean." Vani told him, granting him small talk he could use later with Hemalyn. Tamaki nodded.
"Yeah, good idea."
"Well, I'm off now. I have a puppy I need to get home to-" Tamaki perked up.
"You got a pet?"
"Yeah. I have a bunch of them actually. Dani is just a new recruit in my Animal Army. I got her when Hemalyn got Phonex."
"What kind of dog is she?"
"A little pug. She was the runt of the litter, missing a nostril- but cute nonetheless. And full of energy, most likely causing mayhem right now which is why I got to go. Lovely talking to you two Hosts." Vani waved before turning on her heel and walking away from them. Tamaki let out a breath he didn't know he was holding in relief, tussling his hair to the side.
"She is odd." Kyoya commented. Tamaki narrowed his eyes confusion.
"Smart but odd. Animal lover and smug, knows how to get into people's heads before they realize." Kyoya finished, looking to Tamaki then grabbed his phone out of his pocket, dialing a number.
"I will order some clothes for you to wear. Also, notice how you aren't as nervous anymore." Tamaki felt his jaw drop, now noticing that he calmed down. Vani distracted him by talking about whatever. He felt grateful for that, and would have to thank her the next time he sees her.

Hemalyn pursed her lips, flattening down the grey skirt she wore over black stockings to keep her legs warm. It was fall, but that didn't mean it wasn't still cold out. Summer had just passed, which did sadden Hemalyn, but that gave her opportunity. Vani had cancelled their plans so Hemalyn could 'break out of her shell'. Hemalyn's shell was comfy and safe, and she knew everyone and everything, she would prefer to keep it that way.
She could just ditch Tamaki and go home to spend time with Phonex (Phonex was in good company of Mythica) but, she didn't want to be rude to Tamaki, the poor boy already had enough to worry about.
She messed with her bangs in the school bathroom's mirror, reminding herself that she probably should have taken a shower last night. She had fallen asleep quite early in the evening, didn't even get a chance to eat dinner from being so tired of just studying. 'Study...' She thought, reminding herself that once she gets back from the festival, she was going to go straight back to studying her little heart out, no matter how many headaches she got from it.
With one last flattening of her skirt and white button up shirt, she grabbed her school bag and left, seeing Vani waiting outside. She was going to take her uniform home for her so she didn't have to squish it into such a tiny book bag.
"Ooo, you look snazzy. I'm so glad that the clothes fit, even though the shirt is a little loose." Vani muttered the last part, grabbing hold of Hemalyn's sleeve and messing with it. Hemalyn shrugged, "I don't mind. I prefer things to not be skin tight."
"That is the style in the west, yeah?" Vani asked and Hemalyn nodded to confirm. They had seen photos of Hollywood celebrities a few days ago because Vani was curious about the fashion they had, and it wasn't as modest as it was in Japan to say the least. Vani checked her wrist watch, seeing the time.
"Oh! The festival is opening in 20 minutes, you better go meet Tamaki before he leaves with you. Have fun~" Vani walked away from Hemalyn, leaving her friend be. Hemalyn messed with the ponytail on her wrist as she walked to the entrance to Ouran, and the exit to the outside world. She saw other students leaving around her, either walking in groups of friends or by themselves like she was. 'Must be exhausting to have so many friends at once.' Hemalyn thought to herself.
Tamaki did one last clearing of his throat, his nerves had come back slightly, but Kyoya gave him an evil look when he was starting to freak out again. 'Why did I let him talk me into this?' He asked himself countless times, running his fingers through his blond hair. Kyoya left him shortly after Tamaki changed out of his uniform, not being as kind and told him to just shove the priceless uniform into his bag. They would most definitely have to be dry cleaned after this.
Hemalyn was coming into view of the entrance, seeing the sun still out and had a littles way to go before setting. The fireworks would be perfect for that evening, just the right amount of cold and warmness, and most likely than not- The sky would be dark enough to be able to see them. She spotted Tamaki, seeing him casually leaning against the doorway as he looked out into the street, watching the leaves lightly fall from the trees. As she walked closer, Tamaki spotted the only ginger in the crowd of people at the corner of his eye, a light blush tinting his cheeks. The sun rays masking the pinkness as the rays illuminated his skin, making him look like the sun kissed him when he was born.
Tamaki turned his head, feeling like the oxygen in his lungs had just been punched out of him. The colors contrasted with her features well, the good mix of lights and darks made him realize- Yellow definitely wasn't her color. He could actually see her features, her freckles, deep auburn eyes with gold specks in them, her wavy red hair taking the form of a goddess as it hanged off of her shoulders. He was too deep in her, he fell down the rabbit hole too deep. Hemalyn rose a brow, stopping in front of him as she saw the distant look he had on his face.
"Are you feeling okay?" She asked him, snapping him out of his trance. He blinked rapidly, looking down at her before nodding, a charming smile breaking out to mask his infatuation with her. "Yes, I am alright." He gently grabbed hold of her hand, planting a kiss on top of it making Hemalyn blush, not expecting the sudden gesture.
"Ready to go?" He asked her, feeling his own cheeks become pink. Hemalyn nodded, feeling the jitterness in her stomach, like a movie moment is what that feeling and moment reminded her of. She blushed harder, hiding behind her hair as Tamaki took her arm and escorted her out of the academy and down the steps. The butterflies mingled in the two's stomachs as they entered the limo, heading to the festival for the rest of the afternoon and into the evening.
Yuzuru Suoh watched from his office, sipping on champagne as he watched his son escort the Alderain girl into the limo, a light smiling gracing his face as he realized that his son was making his own choices now.
"Honestly, you do realize if you let the two of them get any closer-" Shizue Suoh was cut off by her son, earning a small look, "Tamaki is old enough to make his own choices now. We already failed once, let this happen naturally- Then we will discuss about the two."
"Yuzuru dear, she is an Alderain. No noble or high blood to her name. Adopted, we don't know if she is even-"
"Mother. Stop, leave the poor girl alone. She can not choose who she is or was chosen to be." Shizue closed her mouth, keeping herself from saying anything more. Yuzuru watched the limo drive off, feeling chills run down his spine in slight excitement as a thought crossed his mind.
'She could be my daughter-in-law one day.' His smile widened, feeling genuinely happy.
