Chapter 19 - Session
"Hello Miss Alderain, how are you feeling today?".
I sat across from the first therapist I have seen in years, the man, Mr. Croft, seemed very nice and caring, despite the scars that I could see peeking from underneath his shirt and collar. I nodded, feeling Mother rub my knee lovingly.
"From what I have been told, you have been going through all of this for years now, correct?" I nodded, feeling my throat wanting to close up. I felt like throwing up.
"I presume you two didn't know about this until... When?"
"About a week ago, after she ran off and stayed with one of her new friends at school." Mom stated. Dr. Croft wrote something down, "How many schools has she been in?" He asked. They thought for a moment, mentally counting the number of school's.
"5 in elementary, 2 in middle school then we homeschooled her for a little while, then three in highschool."
"That is indeed a lot of moving around, which could be a cause of her feeling, out casted, unable to easily befriend others. Has she always been like this?"
"Not always from what I recall." Mother thought out loud. Mom sighed deeply, rubbing her temples.
"Mythica, can we please do this another day? Hemalyn is missing school because of this-"
"Not to intrude Mrs. Alderain, but mental health is more important than schoolwork. And from what I have talked with her teachers at Ouran, stress is getting to her at trying to get good grades, and they have been observing her very closely over the past two weeks, seeing how well she does at a new school."
"Isn't mental health a temporary thing?" Dr. Croft shook his head, "Not in the slightest. Mental health can be caused from different things, some develop it while others, it is in their genetics." I felt my parents stiffen up, Mother's eyes going wider than before.
"Hemalyn is adopted, so if it is based on genetics, we wouldn't know until we have medical history of her biological parents. Was it closed adoption may I ask?" Mom shook her head, "No. But we haven't spoken to them in years. From what I have seen of them, they show no signs of mental health issues."
"It is very easy to hide, Hemalyn has been hiding it from you two for years." The buzzer went off, signalling that our session was over. I sighed in relief, getting to get up from the sofa.
"Same time next week, and Hemalyn, before you leave we will conduct a brain scan."
"Brain scan?"
"Something to help differentiate what is causing her the most harm. After all, the brain is an organ that can be infected. Remember that." They nodded, rubbing my knees once more before standing up.
"We will make sure to. Thank you Dr. Croft." Mother thanked him with a tiny smile.
"No need to thank me, I just help to understand, I cant cure mental illness, only she can do that, even it is temporary."
"So you saying... She can only help herself?"
"If she chooses to.".

I suddenly felt my phone buzz in my pocket while in the limo on the way home.
"We won't be able to make it to your next session because I have work and your mother is going to an appointment for the baby."
"Is something wrong with them?" I asked and Mother shook her head, "No. It is just an annual check up." I took my phone out of my pocket, seeing I got a text from Vani.
-How did your first session go? Also, sorry that I could go with you, I can't miss any more days until next month! XoXo. ~Vanessa Hiro
-It went okay, and don't worry, I didn't expect you to drop everything just to go with me. ~Hemalyn Alderain
-Yeah but... It still makes me feel bad. ~Vanessa Hiro
I ignored her last text, retreating my phone back to it's pocket.
"I will have a word with Mr. Suoh, to see if he won't mind you missing the last two hours of school every Wednesday because of therapy. Because right now, our schedule isn't allowing us to schedule any of them after school or on the weekends. Just too much going on." Mom groaned, running her fingers through her dark hair. I nodded, staring out the window as it steadily rained outside in the world of the living.
"Hmm... On that note, let's talk about something more... uplifting! How about baby names?" Mom gave Mother a look.
"Baby names? You are only in your first trimester!"
"So? It is always exciting to give a human being the name they will be called for the rest of their life! And we didn't to with Hemalyn, so I wanted to give more thought with our new cutie." Mother stated with glee, her voice sounding solemn at the same time. I furrowed my brows in confusion, "You two didn't name me?"
"We didn't because when we were going through the process of adoption, we didn't even think of a name for you to have. So, your biologicals were the ones who named you but we signed the birth certificate."
"Oh..." I sighed heavily. 'Hemalyn Rose Alderain... Hemalyn means Golden or Gold in some form of Latin, right?'
"We really liked the name, especially after we learned why they give you the name." Mom stated, her eyes looking far off, as if remembering a memory and reliving it.
"They gave you the name Hemalyn Rose because, to us you will be worth more than a Golden Rose. Since they couldn't take care of you during that time in their life.".
