Chapter 10 - Friends?
Nekozawa's head tilted to the side along with Beelzenef's in confusion, "Friends?"
"Yeah, what do you mean by 'friends'?" Vani asked me as if I just signed us up for the plague... Quite literally
"Y-Yeah... Friends." I nervously repeated
"What is friend?"
"What is A friend." Vani corrected his grammar without a second thought.
"A friend is uh... Erm well-"
"A friend, by definition, is a person who you speak to about your problems, have fun with, or basically develop a liking to eachother, seeking companionship platonically." We both turned our heads to Vani, confused
"Eh?"
"As in a person who you love as a person but not romantically."
"Oh." We dragged out almost in sync. Vani nodded before sighing heavily, glancing down at her watch
"Hemalyn, we got about an hour left, do you want to hang out here for the remained of the day or go to a different club?" I thought for a moment, glancing over at Nekozawa who was still pondering over Vani's definition of 'friend'
"Can we take Nekozawa with us?" Vani froze, staring at me, "Are you crazy today?" She mouthed to me. I shook my head as my answer. She stared at Nekozawa, thinking about the option
"Nekozawa-"
"My friends call me... Wait, nevermind..."
"Okay then... Well, would you like to accompany us to tour the other clubs for the remainder of the hour, Nekozawa?" Vani asked him, clasping her hands behind her back. Nekozawa gulped, looking down at his puppet companion before shaking his head
"I prefer to stay in the shadows and conduct ceremonies and practice alchemy."
"Okay~ Well, nice meeting ya. See you later!" She quickly grabbed hold of my arm, dragging me along with her. Nekozawa nervously waved at our restreating figures. I smiled, something so small that made a difference in how I felt. I made another friend- Who happens to be maybe becoming a cult leader in the future person.
I waved back to him when we left through text doors, them ominously shutting by themselves behind us. 'Not creepy at all...'.
Next stop was the- oh no.
"Oh yes." Vani sent me a wicked smile, her smile almost as frightening as the Cheshire cat from Alice In Wonderland. We ran down through the halls in search of club, me taking every chance that I could at trying to pry myself away from her wickedness
"V-Vani, I don't think-"
"Oh we will be fine! If we survived Nekozawa, then we can survive-" She stopped for dramatic effect, skidding to a stop with me slamming into her back in front of the doors that I dreaded having to ever open
"-The Host Club, led by Tamaki Suoh.".
A few minutes passed of us trying to catch our breaths, knowing we would need it once we step foot into the domain of pretty boys
"Now... I'm having second thoughts. How about we go home to my place, order pizza and hot wings and call it a day, I think we have earned it." Vani suggested, my stomach growling at the mention of hot wings
"Your stomach certainly agrees with the option." Vani snickered, playfully teasing me. That is probably because I haven't eaten all day... And it did that for comedic relief like in a sitcom.
"Well, do you want to journey into hell?"
"I thought we had front tickets to it?" I questioned. She laughed nodding in agreement, "True, true... Then again, love is an open door." She winked at me making my cheeks become a flame
"Okay, enough standing her like sitting ducks, let's decide! Eat yummy food that is yum yum for a tummies but bad for a health or, journey into the Hell of Love- or Love Hell... Hell's Love?" I shrugged, not good at making decisions, especially when the decision is as easy as cake. Mmm... Cake-
"Cake?"
"Oh yeah, that is right. Mitsu- Honey, always has cake at his table so-"
"Let's go get some damn free cake!".
---3rd Person's POV---
"An hour left, gentlemen." Kyoya reminded each Host as he walked past them, tapping his pen on his notebook in boredom. It had been an average day, the same shenanigans, same girls, big crowds, same pick-up lines and acts. He was thankful that he didn't get as many customers as the rest of them did, especially on Club Day
"Haruhi, you have an hour left." Kyoya reminded Haruhi Fujioka who glanced up at him, softly smiling as 'he' nodded
"Okay, Kyoya-Senpai.". The girls wooed at the sight of Haruhi's gentle smile, unknown to them of Haruhi's true gender. Kyoya noticed at the corner of his eye seeing the front doors open slowly. He smirked, 'More guests...' He thought to himself, checking something off in his notebook before heading over to greet them. He wore a pleasant smirk as he approached the two girls that he recognized from his very class. Vanessa Hiro and... The new transfer student, Hemalyn Alderain
"Welcome you two, I carry that you two are here because of Club Day?" Kyoya asked them, watching as the darker haired girl, Vanessa, answered
"Yes. We are doing this in our free time because as of currently, their a power out at my home." Kyoya, pulling out the guest book
"Name and the name of the Host you shall be visiting today." He told them without a blink in his eyes. Vanessa shrugged
"I'm Vanessa Hiro and this is Hemalyn Alderain... Umm... Which one has all of the food?"
"That would be Honey, the Loli-Shota type."
"The what-?" Hemalyn began to question before Vanessa accidentally caught her off, "Yep, that's him!"
"And will that be all of who you will be visiting today?" He asked. Vanessa turned to Hemalyn, wondering if that is what the ginger wanted to do
"Uh.. Sure?"
"How many can we cram into an hour?" Vanessa asked Kyoya
"There is 7 Hosts, but two are in partnership with their act. Which would make it 6 so-"
"Take 10 minutes each with them?" Hemalyn blurted out before covering her mouth, her cheek dusting pink in embarrassment, 'Oh no, is that wrong?' She asked herself. But to her surprise, Kyoya nodded in agreement
"Yes."
"Great job, Hema!" Vanessa clapped Hemalyn on the back in pride. 'Why praise her for it? It's basic math-' Kyoya began to question silently to himself then realized of why Vanessa congratulated Hemalyn, it was because from what he has been told by many teachers, (Kyoya was the Class 'Pet' The twins would narrate to him on the daily), ever since she has transferred to Ouran, her grades from homework have not looked at all good for her. If that was so... How did she even manage to get into this high prestigious academy? The Alderain Family, as far as he knows, we're not ones to use their money to bargain into getting their daughter into Ouran. So, how did she manage to do it?
"Ootori." Kyoya snapped out of his thoughts, nodding at Vanessa
"Yes, Miss Hiro?"
"May we go now, or- Do you want us to be your first customers for 10 minutes?" Vanessa asked him, reminding him of the reason why he was there in the first place. He nodded, quickly marking off the girl's names along with the Hosts' names, making sure to time stamp them for 10 minutes each, "Follow me, ladies." He ordered them, leading them to his corner of the room before sitting down in a booth, gesturing for them to sit in front of him. They took their seats
"Well, tell me about yourselves ladies."
"I'm 16, Current Heiress of my Father's Company, Only child, with lots and lots of animal children."
"Animal children?" Kyoya questioned and Vanessa nodded eagerly
"Yes, currently-" She paused, counting in her head of how many pets she currently had as her own
"43 Pets, not including what my parent's own."
"Are they all cats or dog breeds?"
"A mixture of both, I also have snakes, geckos, lizards, fishes, birds, a few goats, two tree frogs and- I think that is it?"
"Quite a handful you got there, Miss Hiro."
"Not really, because with most of them, like my lizards and snakes for example, don't need to eat as often as most animals- OH! I ALSO HAVE HAMSTERS AND GUINEA PIGS. And one rat." She lowered her voice when she got questionable looks from the other guests. 'I would definitely not be able to live in her place, or even visit for that matter.' Kyoya thought, watching as Hemalyn fidgeted in her seat, looking anywhere but him
"Miss Alderain, you have yet to say much unlike your 'Animal Mother' next to you." Vanessa stuck her tongue out at Kyoya, not minding her talkative self
"Would you like me to?"
"I would prefer it if my guests are comfortable, bad for business."
"S-Sorry..."
"No need to be sorry, Miss Alderain. Just tell me a few facts about yourself like for instance, what you find interesting." Kyoya coaxed her, doing his best not appear hostile towards the nervous girl sitting across from him
"Well... I uhm... Don't know."
"There isn't anything you like?" Hemalyn shrugged, "What is there to like? There seems to be so many options but... I just can't seem to... Nevermind." Hemalyn sighed, shaking her head, 'Don't forget that you barely know the guy...' Hemalyn reminded herself. Even if Kyoya found Hemalyn's behavior odd, especially since the most customers he has spoken to have not at all once acted this way towards him, it was very rare for even any of the other Hosts to experience a person like Hemalyn. Vanessa glanced at her watch, realizing it had been ten minutes
"Oh, I guess it has been ten minutes already. Sorry, Ootori to have cut this short but, as you know, we only have 50 minutes left." Vanessa told him, slipping out of the booth. Hemalyn looked from her to Kyoya, not knowing if to follow, knowing full well that she just made everything awkward. Kyoya nodded, letting a small smirk escape
"I understand, it was nice speaking to you, Miss Hiro."
"Call me Vani, you make me sound like my mother." Kyoya nodded
"Very well."
"Come on, Hemalyn, who you want to take to next? It's your turn." Hemalyn shrugged, feeling like going home right there and then. She had enough socializing today...
"I suggest Honey-Senpai over there." Vani's eyes lit up, her mouth on the brink of watering, "He is the one with cake, right?"
"Indeed."
"Hell to the yes! Come on, Hema, charge to the delicious sweets that we are going to regret later!" Vani grabbed hold of her friend's wrist, pulling her off of her seat before dashing to where she could see people eating cake. Kyoya watched them run, briefly seeing his partner in crime walk up to him in his peripheral vision
"New customers, huh?" Tamaki asked his best friend who nodded
"They booked for every ten minutes to switch off from host to host. I believe they are only here for Club Day."
"Hmm... Aren't they in our class, Kyoya?"
"Indeed they are, Vanessa Hiro and Hemalyn Alderain." Tamaki froze, recognizing the name of the girl. Kyoya turned towards him, grabbing his lapter from the seat beside him and placing it into the table, starting it up
"You know her, I reckon?"
"Not really... I was the one who showed her the way to class, she almost walked in on..." Tamaki quickly shaked his head, "Nevermind, I better get back to my guests. I will talk you later." Tamaki walked off, leaving Kyoya suspicious of his friend. He brushed it off, knowing Tamaki would tell him in his dramatic way when he felt like it, for now, he can do some work on studying of who Hemalyn Alderain is.
