29- Thud... Thud... Thud...

Boris opened his innocent eyes to see the television on a static- like screen. The familiar sense of pain and loss was renounced again, forcing the wolf's eyes to squeeze shut in defiance.

Oswald laid on the couch, snoring softly, ears lightly twitching. The rabbit's presence was not enough to cheer him, however, and so he picked himself up off the couch and back into what was to be their room... Before the two brothers had been forcefully split apart.

It was the Council's fault. If only they could understand that, despite a scary look, the heart is what matters. He was immediately reminded of the story.

'They were scared...' Boris thought. 'That toon had never done a single thing wrong...'

The wolf placed a gloved hand on the blackened message above Bendy's bed. Just the sight  of the demon's words forced heavy pangs through the wolf's heart.

With every thud in his gut, the wolf felt sicker and sicker. Something began to trickle down the left side of his face, and with growing horror the wolf glanced fearfully into the mirror.

Dark ink was creeping from his face and dribbling from his mouth. The wolf yelped in fear as he scrambled away, wiping the ink away in a rush. But to no avail, it continued its silent pace.

With a whimper, the wolf cupped his face in one hand and rushed to Oswald.

The rabbit lay there, face buried in the couch's comfortable cushions, snoring now muffled. Anxious now, the wolf used his free hand and shook his shoulder. "O-Oswald?" he stuttered. It took a moment for the rabbit to crack its eyes open and for him to even register the person in front of him. Or even what his hand was doing...

"Boris?" The rabbit mumbled. "What's wro-?" he stopped mid-sentence as the wolf carefully removed one hand. Quickly, the rabbit sat up, and held the wolf's face.

Boris' innocent eyes glistened with frightened tears. "I-it won't s-stop," he choked.

Oswald's face fell. "Did you hit your head?" He questioned first, as if a professional.

The wolf's head nudged side to side in the rabbit's gentle yet firm grasp. "N-no! It just happened!" he cried.

The rabbit released the wolf and jumped up and off of the couch, in search for a roll of absorbent bandages. "Stay here, Boris!" the rabbit ordered. The wolf nodded, shoulders lightly shaking. The anxiety was building up now, even stronger than before.

Oswald rushed around the cabinets, grabbing towels and gauze. He nearly bolted back to the wolf who, by the looks of it, was utterly terrified.

"Boris, calm down, alright?" The rabbit spoke in a soothing voice, convincing the wolf to sit down.

As the rabbit patched up the dripping spots, Boris let tears stream down. So innocent...

"I'm just like Bendy..." Boris murmured. The rabbit stared at him in surprise.

"What do ya mean?"

The wolf took a shaky breath before pointing to the bandages. "I... I have a problem, too... Mickey was wrong..."

The rabbit shook his head angrily. "Who cares what my brother says? Hell, even if that's true, that won't change who you are! You will still be the lovable wolf I adopted as a son!"

The wolf's voice wavered. "A son?" He said in near disbelief.

Oswald softened. "Yeah, and you'd better believe it."

Boris let a smile shine through as his tail wagged. "Thanks, dad!"

Oswald chuckled and ruffled the top of his head.

"No problem, Boris. Now," his tone changed. "Let's see if we can fix this problem first..."

The wolf hopped up in joy. "Let's go! " he pumped his fist in the air. "Family bonding!"

The rabbit smiled. "Now... Let's get to work!"
