13- The Plan

Bendy sat down on the hospital bed, sighing quietly. His back still stung fresh, the ointment slightly helping him to not shed a single wince of pain, or even a mere tear.

Oswald and Boris sat down at the two chairs, not speaking.

They were awaiting the doctor, who had announced that he himself wanted to run a test...

Whatever that meant.

Bendy bowed his head low, as if in deep thought. But he was merely waiting- waiting for something that would alert him to the doctor's presence.

Steps came through the ink demon's head.

He was approaching... And he was already quite close.

Ready, the demon lifted his head.

Frank was there, a clipboard in hand, an excited twinkle in his stern yet kind eyes.

Bendy started at the clipboard in Frank's hands.

"I have a gameplan," he stood tall and proud. "This may work. But I must ask you a question. I've heard you cannot speak, so here;" he handed the demon his board. "Can you write for your answers?"

Bendy nodded.

"Okay. First question: Who is your creator/"

Oswald glanced at the doctor, his head jerking to the side quickly. The doctor caught himself.

"You don't have to answer that..."

But Bendy had already raised his finger to his mouth, eyes closed. He withdrew it, dark saliva stuck there as he wrote.

MY... CREATOR...

He re-dipped his hand.

...DREW ME TO LIFE... JOEY DREW...

He stopped and tossed the clipboard onto the other side of the bed, slightly disgruntled.

The doctor picked it up.

He read it quickly, eyes then scanning Bendy for emotion.

But Bendy was quite good at hiding his.

The tall demon perked up in interest as soon as the doctor spoke his name.

"Bendy?"

Their eyes met.

"Please... Come with me. And you too, Mr. Rabbit."

Oswald nodded eagerly. The wolf let out a whine.

"What about me?"

The doctor sighed, thinking. "You should go sit in the waiting room. We'll come get you when he's finished."

The wolf's lower lip quivered defeatedly. "Okay." He stood with one last parting glance at Bendy before walking out.

The doctor retracted back to in easy posture. "Come with me. And Oswald, you said he has powers?"

The rabbit noticed the tense demon stiffen. He chose his words carefully. "I did," he said.

The doctor set the board down. "Well, if your friend here doesn't mind... I would like to run... An experiment. But now isn't the time! He is not in the right place, but we can be there soon. Please, follow me." The doctor turned and stepped out of the room, as if expecting them to follow...

And follow they did.

Bendy shot a withering look at Oswald, as if in a way judging him. He was angry, but not nearly as angry as he was at himself. He had an uneasy feeling about this place- after all, he could sense every single living thing with a heart still beating.

And then, suddenly, he felt a thud at the sound of wheels rolling a dying body quickly down the hall. Bendy searched the hidden toon for a heartbeat.

But there was no pulse.

With sickening realization, Bendy realized what had happened.

The toon beneath those covers- they were gone.

"A shame," Bendy thought he'd heard Frank mumble.

The demon's shoulders begrudgingly eased. He blanked out, following the doctor with bland interest. It was only until Oswald nudged him that he had come back to his senses.

"Please, take a seat," Frank offered as the demon stepped inside the brightly lit room. He sat in a cold, uncomfortable metal chair, as he watched with growing curiosity at the metal instrument that was placed on his chest.

His breathing hitched at the sound of beeping beside him. Every time his heart beat, a beep! followed quickly after. The sound hurt his head as he cringed. The doctor then beckoned for him to hold out an arm. He wrapped a tight rubber band around it.

Bendy then felt a soft prick edge into his inky skin. His other hand gripped the bottom of the chair, his gloved claws cutting into the metal.

Oswald pat his shoulder. "It's okay."

His heart monitor beeped! more. He let out a growl at the sight of the the needle transfusing the inky blood into small tubes.

The rubber band hurt his arm; confined it even. The demon did not like it. But he waited it out, the uncomfortable feeling swelling inside.

And then, finally, with bandage in hand, the doctor pulled out the needle, and covered it with bandage.

The uncomfortable feeling soon faded as the band was taken off. He sighed quietly in relief.

"Don't take off the bandage for a few minutes," Frank warned. "I must go get something." He turned and left once more.

Bendy flexed his arm. The bandage was put on tight, but not in the suffocating way it was for the band.

Oswald immediately jumped at the sound of ringing blare loudly from his pocket. He reached in and pulled out a small device with a glowing screen. Bendy watched in wonder as the rabbit pressed a green button, raising it to his long ears.

"Excuse me, Bendy," he apologised as he excused himself from the room.

The demon stood up, slowly, as his back and legs (especially his shoulder) ached.

He immediately felt nauseous, as he quickly grabbed the edge of a sink. He let out a few troubled breaths. He focused in on the metal thing still on his chest. He tore it off, but it caused him no pain- It was merely strapped on, so no harm done.

Bendy threw it to the side, his one hand releasing the counter to raise to his horned head. He caught Oswald in a hushed whisper.

"-no, he's not dangerous." a pause. "NO, he's just... Well, lanky."

Bendy closed off his thoughts and listened intently.

"He is not an 'it', his name is Bendy!" Oswald hissed. "And it isn't his fault for scaring people. Oh, so you're calling him a freak?"

Bendy's heart sank. Monster, his head rang.

"No. he's stronger than you, Mickey. He's stronger than you will ever be." He hung up, exasperated.

Oswald stepped into the room.

Bendy held his gaze for a moment.

"I'm sorry," Oswald began. His voice was soft, sincere. He really meant it. "You probably heard us, didn't you?"

The demon nodded.

"I'm sorry," Oswald muttered. "My brother, Mickey... He's a nice guy. It's just- he's still a little messed up from something that happened years ago. I'm sure that if you met him, you'd like him, too. He's never seen what you have, and when I explained to him that I was with you... Well, he got defensive. But that's just how he is. I guess you could say he's a little protective of me." he winced. "I'm sorry, that sounded rude. I didn't mean it that way! It's just..."

Bendy waved his hands in a "Cool Down" motion. He cracked a small smile, knowing that he himself was a monster. He should be feared. He wasn't normal...

Oswald leaned against the wall. "I'm sorry. It was rude of me to say it like that, anyway."

Bendy stepped back to the chair, still slightly dizzy and somewhat sick. He slumped down, his head panging. He wiped the ink from his one eye.

Oswald couldn't help but stare. The demon's eye was trailing ink. But before he could say something, the irritating ink had already covered it once again.

The rabbit opened his mouth, only to quickly close it. He didn't want it to come off as rude. He sighed. He needed to ask, anyway.

"Bendy... Can you help me understand why you keep dripping?"

The demon shook his head. His smile was gone, and in place was irritation. He raised his finger to his mouth, withdrew it and wrote onto the wall.

MISTAKE.

He then underlined it with a furious stoke.

MISTAKE.

And then, the doctor walked in, just to see that message.

"...That makes sense, now..."

Oswald glanced up.

"What?"

"Bendy... He isn't what you think."
