"here's your coffee sir." ariel said in a fake deep voice. she placed the coffee on the table and took a seat across from him.
aaron smiled at her and took the coffee in his hands. he felt nervous for some reason, he didn't know why. he'd gone out with girls prettier than ariel, but she seemed to rattle his cage. she intrigued him. he watched as she brought the coffee up to her mouth, her plump lips enveloping the straw. he found the simply action oddly sexual and blushed.
ariel laughed see the blush on his face and poked his cheek. "your as red as tomato, mocha boy."
aaron hid his face from her and rubbed his neck awkwardly. "shut up."
"i would but that'd involve a kiss and i don't kiss on first dates." ariel said casually, sipping from her coffee.
aaron couldn't help the smile on his face as he said "if you think this is a date, oh what a world of surprise you're in for."
ariel blushed at the slip up she had made. "this is not a date."
"you just said it was." aaron countered, his smile falling.
ariel immediately regretted her words seeing his smile fall. she believed he looked so much better with one, his eyes sparkled and he looked younger with one. without one he seemed sad and tired. she wondered what he'd been through in life. "tell me about your childhood." ariel blurted, changing the topic.
aaron pursed his lips "well it wasn't a good one my dad left when I was nine and my mom killed herself shortly after. i was then sent to live with my grandma and i'm still there."
ariel's widened surprised by how easy all that rolled off his tongue.
"wow."
"yeah."
"i'm so sorry."
"don't be. my mom is happier now than she was alive." aaron insisted with a careless shrug.
"still, i shouldn't be some intrusive." ariel insisted, she took his hand in hers. "however if you do want to talk i'll listen."
once again aaron found himself amazed by easy ariel had made it for him to spill everything to her. "now that you know about my messed up childhood, how about you tell me about your home life."
ariel looked down at her lap. "my parents used to be so in love. they were childhood sweethearts. but now they fight over little things."
"what happened?"
ariel didn't answer. in fact she wasn't even looking at aaron anymore her attention was drawn to behind him. aaron turned around to be met with the sight of a forty-something year old man, glaring at him.
ariel swore under her breath and stood up. "hey dad."
