Chapter 24 ~ Revelation.

When I come to, the car is surprisingly filled with chatter.

My head is spinning and I can't manage to hold onto more than a few words but I recognise all three of the men talking and even Dana provides an input every now and then.

"Are you actually insane? The risk is too great." Axel shouts from the left of me, his sharp voices wakes me from my forced sleep and I begin to realise that I'm not sitting in a firm car seat but rather being cradled like a baby in someone's arm.

It's not hard to guess who.

Instead of attacking which I desperately want to I remain relaxed in Rosiks grip and take in as many words as I can.
I want to be prepared when I decide to re-enter the situation.

"I was just suggesting... I don't think it's a bad idea and we always have the upper hand. All we need is a good back up story and we are fine." Eric calls out from the front seat and I hear the hopeful edge in his voice which Axel only scoffs at.

"A tired driver is more dangerous than a drunk driver." Dana adds timidly and even I hear her gulp before continuing.

"Also, I can cook us a proper meal before the flight rather than takeaway."

"I wasn't going to waste my money buying you takeaway. Didn't you eat like eight hours ago? Jesus, there are people who are starving in the world and here you are demanding three meals a day." I wish I could say that Axels voice is dripping with sarcasm but it's dry as dirt and I fight the urge to bristle.

"You're still a newbie at this. So how about you just shut the fuck up with these ideas and do your job driver." Axel finishes with and I know it's directed at Eric who chuckles and replies with a quick,
"Sure thing mate!"
Which only causes Axel to grumble further.

"No, they're right. We've been driving too long. I'll call the pilot and tell him we'll be there tomorrow morning at 8am." Rosik finally inputs and Axel groans loudly but doesn't voice his annoyance.

It's at this moment that I 'stir awake' and I quickly shove myself out of Rosiks grip and into the middle seat as I realise that Rosik, Axel and I are crammed into the back seats.

Axel and Rosik are both large forms, while one is definitely more muscle than the other they both take up far too much space in this world and there is no way for me to be in the middle and not touch either of them.

But I certainly do try and settle on crossing my arms and legs tightly and hunching over.
Becoming as small as possible.

Rosik says nothing at my sudden escape from his grip and instead throws one arm around my shoulders and uses his other hand to text on his phone, undoubtedly to the pilot.

I feel disgust hit me hard, how many seemingly everyday people are involved with this?
Do they all know?
Surely not, so perhaps I could get a message to the pilot..

Seemingly reading my thoughts Axel elbows me lightly in my side, snatching my attention which was unconsciously pivoted towards Rosiks phone.

"Thousands and thousands of people are involved in this. You have no idea, this is bigger than you think." He gloats and crosses his arms smugly while taking in my still slightly dazed state.

"You alright there Princess? You're looking a little pale... Let's hope the strangulation didn't leave you with brain damage." Axel starts waving his hand in front of my face stupidly, making cooing noises and I take a calming breath as his hand gets closer and closer to patting my cheek.

"Any closer and I'll bite you." I grumble out just as Rosik chimes in.

"Don't call her Princess." Rosiks voice is gruff and as his arm tightens over my shoulders I can't help but roll my eyes.

His earlier words about my 'training' beginning really worry me.
I'm no match physically against him and while mentally I manage to score the upper-hand it's not by much and Rosik figures out my schemes far too quickly.

I won't be able to fend him off if he really has been 'holding himself back' like what he claims.

I notice Dana and Eric talking in hushed voices at the front and just as I crane forward to hear them Eric speaks for the both of them.

"I'm going to stop at the next supermarket I see. We need food and other.. Necessities." Eric calls out and Axel begins to question what he means but Dana's predicament sinks in his mind again and all he does is shudder like a school boy.

It's only a few minutes before we reach the large store and as we pull into the car park everyone starts speaking up loudly with demands.

"I need to go buy more snacks." Axel grits out and before anyone can stop him he forces himself out of the car with a groan.

"One girl needs to stay in the car, the other can go in." Rosik states and without waiting for an answer Rosik instantly begins tugging me out of the car but I manage to use the seatbelt to remain inside the small interior.

"Don't be childish. Dana wants to cook so she needs to go in and get the groceries. I'm staying here."
I shoot back and Rosik shakes his head.

"No, I need to go in and get a new phone because you ratted us out."
He spits out and I square my shoulders stubbornly.

"Then take Dana and leave me in here. I'm not going to leave while you have Dana." I reply evenly and we both notice passerby's begin to notice our heated debate.

"It's fine Rosik. I'll look after her."
Eric replies and Dana clicks off her seatbelt eagerly.

"I'll be good!" She promises but Rosik keeps his gaze flickering between me and Eric.
Uncertainty clouding his features.

"You've got zip-ties in the boot don't you? Why don't you just use them if you don't trust her. But I promise to watch her like a hawk." Eric murmurs with a playful grin and I glare at his cocky form but his sentence seems to have won Rosik over and he nods before heading out back to open the boot.

"Dana go ahead and buy the most expensive ingredients for me."
I say with a small smile at Dana who still has an extremely red cheek from Rosiks strike earlier.

She chuckles shaking her head and I make the most of my liberated hands by reaching over and holding both her hands in my own.

I'm only letting her go with Rosik because I know that he won't go out of his way to hurt her unless punishing me.
Dana is safer with Rosik than Eric, I know Rosik is only focused on me.
I don't know what Eric's intentions are yet.

Eric surprisingly remains silent through our quiet family moment and chooses to stare blankly out the front window, I notice his knee bobbing erratically but he doesn't say a word.

"Okay hands out Kitty." Rosik barks from the door and I jump slightly before sadly removing my hands from Dana's warm ones.

I turn and obediently hold them out for Rosik to zip-tie.
He doesn't do it tightly, yet due to my infrequent meals the green zip-tie contrasts greatly with my pale flesh and prominent veins.

Staring at my wrists only reminds me how pitifully weak I am so I'm quick to look away.

"Green suits you." Rosik whispers as he leans in to kiss the top of my head and I remain limp and stare ahead.

He pulls away after a few too many seconds and takes in my appearance with my wild red curls, tight green dress and now matching restraints.

He smiles, proud of his 'creation' and most likely thinking himself as a fashionista he slams the door grinning like an idiot.

Dana opens her own door after giving me a sympathetic glance and mutters a quick bye before hopping out of the car.

Before I can reply Eric beats me to it and the glare I send his way is downright smouldering.

Dana waits at the front of the car, her hands twisting in front of her as she takes in the foreign feeling of multiple people walking around her and I notice her anxiety starting to creep in.

I expect Rosik to march straight into the store but instead he opens the drivers door and taking Eric by surprise he reveals another set of green zip-ties.

"Hands out." He commands and Eric laughs brazenly before abruptly cutting off as Rosik grasps his right hand and starts tugging it towards himself.

"Hey, hey! I'm your ally remember! I'm getting paid for this." He quickly tries to explain but Rosik isn't listening and refuses to speak until he has both of Eric's hands tied much tighter than mine together.

"It's to make sure you keep your hands to yourself. I'm protecting Kitty."
Rosik finally explains and I nearly choke on my spit.

"I can take care of myself!" I shout out but Rosik simply gives Eric one last warning glare before slamming the door and taking Dana by the elbow, leading her through the automatic doors and out of sight.

Eric and I are left in silence as we both attempt to break out of our restraints far too obviously.

"Doesn't feel so great being on the other side does it?" I snidely comment before lifting the ties up to my mouth and I attempt to bite through it.

"Don't bother, they're made out of the good stuff." Eric finally comments as I feel my gums begin to bleed and when I glance up hotly I notice Eric's demeanour has changed once again.

His serious side has taken over again and he watches me with a calculated look, a look that I don't like.

"You're smart." He provides and I foolishly attempt to hold two thumbs up, manoeuvring around the ties.

He scoffs but I hear no real amusement behind it before he turns to look back out the window again, searching the doors.

"But you're too impatient. You need to think things through far better."
In response this time I swap my fingers and point a rather unsavoury option at the back of his head.

"Fuck you man. If I knew I was going to get a lecture then I would have went into the store." While saying this I now shuffle until my hands are by my feet and I attempt to step on the zip-tie and pull up my arms sharply.

I hiss as my wrists start to bleed but I don't stop.

"I'm trying to help you.. Get off your high horse and listen." Eric snaps and at this I pause my painful actions and sit straight up in my chair.

"I don't give a shit about anything you have to say. I'm not naive enough to swoon for semi-good looks and a tinge of charm like my cousin. You have no chance at changing my opinion of you." I rush out and clench my fists, Eric spins around in his chair and matches my glare with one of his own.

Not used to anything but sarcasm from him I can't help the slight trickle of fear at his dark expression, slightly thankful for his restraints.

"I told you.. I'm looking after your cousin. She hasn't been harmed by me whatsoever. I can see that you're not going to change your opinion of me easily but I also see now that if I don't include you in my plans then you're just going to blunder through and fuck them up." He grits out through clenched teeth and I notice both his hands are held tightly in fists as he struggles to keep his voice lowered.

His words intrigue me but I'm not swayed by them so instead of answering I shrug my shoulders, cueing him to continue.

"I'm going to trust you Katherine East.. Don't make me regret this." He utters so lowly that I have to lean forward to hear him.

"How do you know my last name?!" I question harshly, I haven't had to give that information to either of the men yet and as far as I'm concerned they haven't been following our news story.

"Katherine my real name is Oliver Mcnally and I'm a cop that has been undercover for the last two years."
My first instinct is to laugh which is what I do, I slap my bound hands over my mouth and laugh loudly into them.

This situation just keeps getting more and more confusing.

Eric, I mean Oliver looks far from amused.
His blue eyes sparkle with annoyance and his blonde locks keep swaying over his face, causing him to aggressively try to push them back with his bound hands.

"Do you expect me to believe that without any proof?" I splutter out and Oliver/Eric takes a moment to breathe deeply before facing the doors once more.

"Your Father is in jail for a hit and run, he's due to be out in a few years." Oliver glances at me to gage my reaction which is shocked but guarded before continuing.

"I've spoken to your family. Dana's father is doing an incredible job at keeping it together and it kills him knowing that I'm here and not him. Your Mother is doing the best she can as well, she doesn't want to be seen by the camera's because apparently it brings up too many negative memories of when your father was trialed."
At this I finally give in and close my eyes sighing.

He's telling the truth and I rest my face in my bound hands, hiding my tears.

"So this is why Dana trusted you so much. Why didn't you two tell me sooner? I wouldn't have given you such a hard time." I mumble between my fingers and I hear the chair creak as Oliver turns to face me.

"That's the thing.. I haven't actually told her anything. I'm sorry but your cousin is naive and simply trusts me because of my friendly face. She is too easily manipulated so I've withheld my identity." At this I dryly chuckle and lean back in my seat, allowing my truly exhausted gaze to drag over Oliver's bright features.

"She's twelve of course she's fucking naive." I defend and glance out the window.

It's so weird to see the world turning when mine has been screeched to a halt for the last few days.

I notice a father leading his daughter back to their car with her on his shoulders, no older than five and a small sad smile graces my features.

"You're only eighteen. You're still a kid yourself." At this I cock my eyebrow and glare at Oliver offended.

"Then why did you tell a 'kid' your secret then?" I spit out using my fingers to quote the word kid.

I want to cross my arms but the zip-ties stop me so all I can do is hunch and glower.
Undoubtedly just proving Oliver's point.

"You're brave, desperate but brave. You're a valuable asset and we'll be far more likely to win if we work together." Oliver's voice is cool and well structured, I don't know how I didn't pin him for a cop.

He sounds like he's quoting a textbook when he's not being sarcastic.

"So what's the plan Oliver?" I test out the name and find that it suits him much better.

Just saying his new name strips away his cockiness and playboy appearance. He looks even nicer as an Oliver.

"Well as you know you and Dana are my priority.." Oliver begins but I hold up my trapped hands and cut him off.

"No. Dana is your priority." I correct and while Oliver sends me an exasperated look he doesn't comment.

"Promise me that when we escape that you will have Dana by your side the whole time. She gets out first understand?" I now demand, my voice low and commanding.
Oliver pauses for a moment before nodding.

"I can't make any promises but I'll try.. Now over the years I have been getting higher and higher up the ranks. The furthest I've reached is the plane however this time I'm confident that I'll make it all the way to Russia."
I notice Oliver's voice speed up as he begins to get excited and I feel panic drip into my veins.

"Wait.. Make it to Russia?! When are we escaping?" I cut in and I watch as Oliver blinks himself back into the present and guilt begins to creep over his features.

"You're still making us go to Russia? You're allowing us to be put at risk like that and be entered into the ring?"
I exclaim shocked and I feel the hope that was slowly building inside of me come crashing down.

"No of course not!"
Oliver snaps and I let out a sigh of relief.

"You won't go into the ring. I just need to see the building and send off it's whereabouts. You girls won't see the inside of that building." Oliver rushes out and I shake my head in disbelief.

"I've already called the cops remember? They're going to stop Rosik and Axel long before we reach their base. I just thought you'd get us out quicker." Oliver now begins to look a little flustered and begins rambling.

"I called after you did and cancelled the rescue. We all agreed that it was in our best interest to save thousands of kidnapped victims in the one go then just save two and lose our chance for another few years." I remain silent for a few moments.

I'm not offended by the proposition, throughout this whole journey I have been thinking of ways to avenge others who have gone through most likely much worse than what Dana and I have gone through.

But the risk to Dana and myself is so incredibly high.

"Did our parents agree to this?"
I question softly and stare deep into Oliver's eyes, searching for any lies.

"Dana's father did.. Your Mother isn't being kept as involved due to her health." I nod defeatedly, knowing her declining health first-hand.

"You'll be heroes." Oliver offers and I scoff loudly.

"I don't want Dana and I to be heroes, I want us to be survivors.." I notice the three missing members of the car finally begin to walk out of the doors and I incline my head in their direction, prompting Oliver to do the same.

"I'll trust you Oliver.... As much as I can. Don't make me regret this and don't you dare let Dana even step a foot through the entrance to their base. She is not going to be subjected to anymore horror." I grit out quickly and Oliver nods stiffly, like a solider being given orders however it brings me no peace.

What we are doing is dangerous, I still have no control either way except now I'm not only a captive but I'm now also a spy.

The risks are even higher and I'm not sure if I'm strong enough to hold everything above my head for much longer.

The doors all open one by one, each then slammed shut with various volumes of sound.

Dana is holding a brown bag filled with what I can see to be vegetables spilling over the top and I hope she took my advice and got ingredients that would impress even Gordon Ramsay.

Axel has a bag of his own although much smaller but it is overflowing as well with multi-coloured, toxin filled candy bars but that doesn't make me want them any less.

The soup I was 'gifted' with earlier has done little to satisfy my hunger and my stomach begins to painfully cramp once more.

Noticing my hungry gaze Axel smirks widely before teasing me with one, I don't take the bait and he huffs in annoyance before ripping off the wrapper and shoving the chocolate in his mouth.
Smacking his lips loudly and churning my stomach.

Wordlessly Rosik grasps my wrists and as he turns me towards him I jump as he pulls out a Stanley knife from seemingly thin air and slices through my restraints easily.

He winks at my shocked expression before reaching over and cutting through Oliver's bindings.
We both remain silent and Rosik glances between us suspiciously.

"What did you two talk about?"
He questions and I feel a bead of sweat run down the back of my neck.

"He kept bragging about his many, many talents." I offer blandly and to pull off my lie I roll my eyes and sigh.

"It almost made me miss your company." That line may have tasted bitter but it certainly did its job as Rosik hugged me momentarily to his side.

"Okay let's go. The sooner we get to a hotel means the sooner I can get paid." Axel grumbles and Eric is quick to start the engine and pull out of the car park.

"Here I was thinking that we were having a nice bonding moment Katie." Oliver calls out and I eye off his freakishly large grin which is doing well to cover his true self.

"In your dreams bucko!" I counter and he chuckles before turning on the radio to some mindless pop hit.

I don't realise that I'm smirking slightly until I feel Rosiks finger trace my dimple that has warped it's way into my flesh.

"You look nice with a smile. You should smile more." Rosik whispers and I can't help but let my smile drop.

Rosik keeps his hand tracing my cheek and a look of cold detachment settles over me.
Right now Rosik is in possession of both a gun and a knife, I know better than to push him.

We only turn a few corners before Oliver settles on a small, dim looking establishment.
I would think that it's another abandoned building if it wasn't for the glaring 'Vacant' sign at the front.

"This will do to keep low-key."
Oliver explains before shutting off the engine.

Oliver eagerly jumps out of the vehicle, most likely worried that he'll be restrained inside it again and walks over to Rosiks door before cracking it open.

"How many rooms are we getting boss?" Oliver plays the part so well of a young, eager worker that I have to actually fight back my feelings of resentment as he stares at Rosik with believable respect.

"We are all EQUALS!" Axel shouts next to me and both Dana and I flinch as the sudden noise throttles us.

"Get three rooms. Axel can have one to himself seeing as he's so moody."
Rosik directs.

"And then you and I will be roommates huh? Great! I have some questions about your past deliveries. I really like your style Rosik." Oliver gushes eagerly, however just before he slams the door shut he is stopped by Rosik.

"We're not leaving the girls unattended. You can talk to me later tonight and I'll give you some tricks."
He finalises and I notice Oliver's look of disappointed quickly masked as he nods.

"Yeah mate sorry! Of course, that shows just how tired I am."
He jokes before successfully closing the door and heading into the dingy reception building.

"What an idiot." Axel mutters and pulls out another candy bar.

"You're no better." Rosik counters and just out of pure spite Rosik reaches over and knocks the bag full of junk food onto the car floor.
Eliciting a groan from Axel.

"Man.. Fuck you!" He groans and Dana and I can't help but giggle at his devastated tone.

Rosik quickly joins in the light laughter which only causes it to awkwardly die out.

Not picking up on the tension in the air Rosik pulls out his new phone and starts setting it up while Axel attempts to pick up his scattered goodies.

"What are we making tonight?"
I ask Dana trying hard to contain my eagerness, slightly embarrassed by how hungry I am.

Dana however doesn't react, I notice Rosiks sharp gaze pierce into mine but I don't look his way, giving my full attention to my cousin.

"I'm thinking chicken with salad tonight." Dana provides and I clench my body tightly, trying my hardest to not have my stomach grumble.

"Salad? Don't bother with me, I'm getting room service." Axel cuts in and I roll my eyes.

His insides at least match his outside, nothing but trash.

"Tonight is going to be so much fun." Rosik suddenly whispers in my ear and I quickly turn to face him, glaring hard.

"What's that supposed to mean?"
I question angrily, forcing myself to be brave in front of Dana who is watching us with a frown.

"Ah, ah, ah curiosity killed the kitty." Rosik quips and I roll my eyes at his attempt at being mysterious.

I know that tonight isn't going to be easy, Rosik has given me plenty of warnings and finally he's reached the end of his tether.

I'm resigned to the fact that I'm going to have to defend myself, against what I don't know.

However I'm comforted by the fact for once that Dana is going to be safe.
As safe as she can be at least considering the situation.

The scary truth is that I've run out of ideas, calling the police was my last attempt.
As much as I don't want to I have no choice but to put all my trust and hope into Oliver.

He is our last chance.

It only takes a few minutes before Oliver jogs back to us, various rusty looking keys jingling in his hand.

I fight the urge to chuckle as I notice his disgusted features as he handles the keys daintily and instead focus on the numbers as he opens Rosiks door.
I can see that they are all in order and I'm relieved to see that we are all still close, I don't want anyone to slip out of focus.

Rosik lets me trail after Oliver and Dana once we leave the car.
Rosik grabs stuff out of the boot while I hurry into Dana and Oliver's room.

Axel stumbles into his with a sigh, most of his candy back in his bag and doesn't give a single one of us so much as a glance before he slams and locks the door shut.

The room is quaint but surprisingly clean to the naked eye.
There are two single beds that can be joined into a double, a small useable kitchen, a bathroom with the basics and a small rectangle table with four chairs.

I rush over to the window on the far wall and gaze at the clear view of the bustling town.
I can hear Dana already unloading the grocery bag but I need a moment just to quell my anxiety before attempting to blend in with simple tasks again.

"Are you okay?" Oliver questions lightly and I close my eyes momentarily as he leans against the wall beside me.

I give a stiff nod, not trusting my vocal chords just yet and continue watching the world carry on.

I keep thinking back to that little girl with her father, what I would have given to have had that kind of relationship with my parents.

What I wouldn't give to have had a normal childhood.

"How many children have you had to deliver over the years to fit in?" I force out, blinking tears away I finally turn and look at Oliver.

His face pales at my question and he avoids my strong gaze, his face tells me his answer before his words do but I still need to hear it.

"Too many..." He whispers broken-heartedly and I nod before turning around to face Dana.

Disgust and disappointment filling my soul.

"We are your last two, after this it all ends." I state boldly, my fake confidence at least convincing Oliver who makes a sound of agreement.

I'm going to make sure everyone involved pays for what they have done. I can see that Oliver pays with guilt for all the girls that slipped through, all for the sake of his cover.

Those girls better haunt him for the rest of his life.

However people like Rosik and Axel aren't capable of guilt.

They need to feel what it's like to be chained, they need to know what it's like to be forced from one place to another and most importantly they need to know what being powerless feels like.

I want them to become a shell of who they are and I want them to suffer.

I will make sure of it.

Katie is starting to get a little darker, is that a good thing or a bad thing?
