Chapter 23 ~ Field Trip.

"Your total is eighty four dollars Sir." The Lady wearing the neon red and horrendous green apron told Rosik as I remain stiff by his side.

My eyes are trying desperately to connect with the lady behind the glasses but all she does is send me a polite smile before eagerly holding out the eftpos machine.

My hands nervously drum on my thighs as I look around scattered.
It isn't busy in the store but after so long of having limited socialisation I feel close to a panic attack.

After Rosiks little dominance show in the van he made me remain hunched over his pelvis for only a few seconds before roughly shoving me back to my side of the van, which I was happy to crawl back into.

We only drove for twenty of so minutes before we reached a large warehouse called 'Bunnings' filled to the brim with home improvement goods.

At first I was extremely confused but as Rosik tugged me through the aisles, thankfully avoiding my sore wrist I realised that he brought me in to scare me once again.

Seemingly knowing his way around well Rosik halted at a stand holding all kinds of rope and zip-ties.
I make sure to keep my face blank as Rosik glances at me smugly, I manage to control my expression but Rosik doesn't have to look very hard to see the goosebumps covering my flesh.

Not asking for my consent Rosik starts grabbing handfuls of thick ropes and keeping his sick grin he begins shoving the coils into my arms.

I glare harshly in response but I'm honestly still shook up by what happened in the car so I remain silently fuming.

"What? I didn't bring you just to be a pretty face." Rosik replies at my glowering form and chucks me under the chin quickly, avoiding my teeth that bare.

"What is your favourite colour?"
Rosik continues and studies the zip ties with great care.

The moment his back is turned I glance around widely, hoping to catch the attention of someone but I'm faced with a bare area and my shoulders drop.

I'm brought back from my frantic search as I feel Rosik grasp my injured wrist tightly.

"I'm only a phone call from Axel. Don't make me call him Kitty." Rosik warns darkly and squeezes my wrist, eliciting a sharp gasp from me before letting go.

Rosik holds his hand out and shuffling the thick ropes into one arm I have little choice but to place my seemingly small hand in his, allowing it to become engulfed.

Rosik quickly grabs a decent handful of green zip ties and begins moving. Funnily enough green is my favourite colour but I have a feeling that I need to reconsider my options.

We walked through the store, much like a couple in a seemingly peaceful silence.
Some would even mistake Rosiks constant glances at me to be loving but I can feel from his tight grip that he is just as weary as I am.

Along the way Rosik grabbed some random items such as shovels, seeds, paint and electric tools.
All I'm assuming to be used as a cover to seem less sketchy but he doesn't comment anything else and so I stay tight-lipped as well.

"Well you two have a lovely day and good luck with your projects!"
The lady beams as Rosiks card is accepted and Rosik smirks knowingly in response before grasping onto the shopping bag and re-claiming my hand.

"You did so well Kitty!" Rosik gushes as he tugs me out of the door and I remain silent, desperately staring down each camera in the ceiling that I can find.

Begging with my eyes to be noticed.

However no cops come bursting through and no sirens can be heard in the distance so I continue my devastated journey.

Just as we are about to reach the van and clamber in I notice a little old lady struggling to carry her basket to her car.
Her eyes are eagerly taking in Rosik and my young appearance and to my joy quickly waves her hands and stops us mid-step.

"Oh do you two mind helping a poor old gal out?" She questions chuckling and my eyes light up with an opportunity.

Rosik sighs obnoxiously but judging by the lady's age I doubt she can hear him as the wind picks up.

"Let me just put my belongings in the car first ma'am." Rosik yells out and the lady smiles widely.

I know that Rosiks comment is designed to anger me as he believes me to be one of his belongings but my mind is whirring too fast to take offence.
This could work.

Just as we are walking past the lady I stop and smile at Rosik sweetly. Catching him off guard and while he looks drawn into my smile I can still see lingering stains of distrust.

"Could I have your jacket please? It's really cold." I ask, making sure I'm loud enough for the lady to hear and to my relief she is quick to cut in.

"Ohh you young ones make me so happy! Some say that gentlemen died out with my generation but you two are proving them wrong! So beautiful!"
She gushes and claps her hands loudly.

Rosik stares hard into my eyes and I keep my smile light and non-threatening.
Sighing once more Rosik peels off his heavy leather jacket and helps me put it on.

The old lady is making sounds of approval and cooing us but all sounds blur into one as I feel a slight bulge in the side pocket which is unmistakably a phone.

Bingo.

After I'm in the already uncomfortably warm jacket Rosik hurries me to the van and I crawl in obediently before the bag of supplies are thrown next to me.

"I'll be two minutes. Don't try anything." Rosik demands and stares me hard in the eyes.
I tuck a loose curl behind my ear and allow my face to drop.

"What on earth can I do? You have all the power." I mutter sadly and Rosik grins and taps me on the nose before slamming the door shut, locking it loudly and jogging back over to the patient lady.

Keeping my eyes trained on his form I slowly unzip his pocket and pull out the rectangle of hope.
I glance down just long enough to swipe up and access the phone dial on his apple device.

Wasting no time I lean my head against the window, facing the unwilling 'gentleman' who is practically tugging the older woman to her car.
I casually rest one hand next to my mouth, obstructing Rosiks view and after dialing the three precious numbers I hold it tightly against my hidden ear.

I answer the robotic voice asking my who I'd like to speak to and my state in a breathy whisper, tears clouding my eyes as the severity of this opportunity hits me.
I can't waste it.

Finally I hear a click and a woman with a soft voice greets me on the other side of the phone.
Whether it was the fact that she was an actual human or her motherly tones I couldn't help but sob the moment the "hi, how can I help?" Passed through the speakers.

"I-I am Katherine East and my Cousin Dana East and I were kidnapped five days ago." I ramble out.

I can hear clicking in the computer and a soft gasp from the soft spoken lady.

"Oh Hun, we've been praying you'd call. Where are you? Is there a safe spot I can send a police car to get you two girls?" She rushes out and I lick my dry lips as I consider the slim chance of rescue but deep down I know it won't work.

If the police show up here then Rosik will kill me then call Axel next.
It's too risky.

"I'm not calling to be rescued yet.."
I reply lamely and my eyes widen as Rosik reaches the small beat up car with a Metallica sticker on the back window.

I can see from here Rosiks surprised gaze settle on the lady but he holds back from asking any questions.

"I-It's too risky right now. I've been separated from my cousin and I can't guarantee either of our safety. Right now I just want to give you as much information as I can. I have to be quick so please just listen and type." I beg as Rosik impatiently waits for the lady to find the correct key for her boot.

I hear the lady hum in agreement and her tense breathing fills the phone, contrasting my panicky short bursts of air.

Taking advantage of Rosiks back being turned I open the glove box and shoving over the wrappers of various treats I find something I overlooked earlier than suddenly holds great power now.

The car manual.

"My captors names are Axel, Eric and Rosik. Rosik is from Russia while the other two are Australian. We have been transported around in a large black van with the plate number XXK-4862. Tomorrow we are leaving for Russia which is your best time to send help. We are being sold in Russia for an unknown cause, all I know is that these men have done this many times before and have a private plane and landing strips at their expense."

I say all this so quickly that I'm barely breathing however I can hear the lady's fingers frantically typing away so I feel comforted enough to wipe the sweat off of my brow.

"You can't just appear and try to surprise them anywhere. They have one definite weapon and have already proven that they will use violence to get their own way. I just want my cousin to get home please." I finish half-sobbing and turn my face away from the window as Rosik finally begins to walk away from the van.

"I'm trusting in you and I'm trusting in the system. Please don't fuck this up. I don't know what else I can do to save her. Please." I whisper softly before hanging up abruptly and shoving the phone back into the pocket.

I rip the stuffy jacket off and throw it back onto Rosiks seat before harshly rubbing my face, leaving it blotchy and sticky with my tears.

Seconds later Rosik opens the door and remaining slightly cautious Rosik takes in my devastated appearance for just a moment and glances down at his jacket before sliding it on, then he quickly starts up the car and screeches out of the warehouse parking.

I desperately hold what I can to stop myself from falling.
Stupidly I hadn't put my seatbelt on yet but Rosik barely notices my struggling body as he frantically weaves in and out of the traffic.

"S-Slow down!" I choke out as Rosik hits a pothole and my whole body bounces off the seat momentarily before roughly colliding back onto the firm seating.

"All I wanted was a nice day out God dammit!" Rosik thunders and I shrivel from his hot rage, making this small space hard to breathe in.

"W-What do you mean? Aren't we eating out?" I question softly, my eyes taking in his swelling neck and white knuckles with a fearful expression. There is no way they he could possibly know what I was doing this quickly.

"I left my jacket pocket zipped Katherine." Rosik darkly whispers and my whole face pales.

In my rush to hide the evidence I forgot to zip back up his phone pocket.

How could I be so fucking stupid?!

"Why am I even going back? I could just take you now. Nobody would find us." Rosik rambles and I clench my eyes shut tightly.
No...

"The police aren't coming Rosik I swear! I told them to wait, it would be stupid to just burst in when you have weapons." I try to explain but Rosik simply scoffs and keeps his eyes glued to the road as we take the familiar trail back through the forest.

"I have been nothing but patient with you Katherine. I have done so much to make you comfortable, even bought fucking pads for your cousin! Can't you see I'm trying?!" Rosik grits out and I stare hard at Rosik in disbelief.

"And I'm constantly figuring out ways to get away from you. Can't you see that I'm trying?!" I reply back evenly, keeping my tone as non-confrontational as possible.
Knowing that this space is too small for a breakdown from either of us.

"We both can't win. One of us needs to make a sacrifice and I'm not willing to let you go." Rosik replies just as quickly and I roll my eyes.

"You make no sense! You claim 'ownership'" I use my fingers to make quotation marks to really ensure that Rosik is paying attention.

"-Yet all you're doing in keeping me close until you sell me like a piece of meat. Don't pull that bullshit with me. Axel is right, if I stay with you then I'm going to be nothing but a sex-doll to some perverted asshole and die within the year. So no, I'm not going to sacrifice my life just because you have temporary lust." The car is thrown into silence as I struggle to heave air back into my lungs.

My whole body is burning, my hair is sticking to my neck and the dress feels far too tight as every sleeve and hem digs into my tender flesh.

I clench my hands constantly, my long nails digging into my palms and after those dull sharp pains stop satisfying me I raise my hands to my hair and start harshly pulling it.
Using the stronger pain to pull back my focus.

I can't lose it, not here, not now, not ever.

"I'll buy you." Rosik finally mutters, all the anger simmering down however mine just rises.

"Good luck attempting that with your delivery boy wage. I know I'm not cheap." I spit and face the window, watching the tree's blur past as Rosik continues his ridiculous speed.

"I have... Connections high up. I'll save you and your cousin as well if you want." I take a deep breath and can once again see Rosik staring at me through the windows reflection.

He looks so vulnerable and tired.
The bags under his eyes are prominent, his face grim and his eyes so, so sad.

This is one of the loneliest and most despicable things I have ever met.

"I have a feeling that our interpretations of the word 'save' are very different." I call over my shoulder but refuse to turn, simply resting my head against the cool glass and sighing. Utterly exhausted.

"You'll get used to your new life. I'll teach you all you need to know."
Rosik says this so confidently that I can't help but feel like my fate is being sealed and I shudder as his 'lessons' run through my mind.

"I can't wait until you hear those exact words from your prison mate in the middle of the night." I reply curtly and Rosik has the audacity to chuckle before focusing back on the road as we swerve onto the driveway back to hell.

Rosik barely rips the keys out before turning and swiftly punching me heavily in the stomach.

The combination of the pain and shock leaves me gasping and heaving for breath as stars flash before my eyes.

I vaguely hear Rosik clamber out of the car and call out,
"That's for the stunt you pulled!" Before slamming the door shut and activating the child lock.
I tug on the door handle anyway to no avail as Rosik runs quickly back into the house.

I squeeze my eyes tightly and focus on taking deep lungfuls of air, my sight is momentarily wobbly but after resting my head in my hands for a few seconds I'm grateful to find the world shift back into focus.

I begin nervously wringing my hands, grateful for the sharp stab of pain from my wrist each time I turn it to ensure that I remain focused.

I have no idea what Rosiks next move is.
He could be in there shooting everyone right now.
He could be grabbing his stuff and planning to kidnap me away from my other kidnappers or worse he could be punishing Dana for my actions.

It doesn't take long for the front door to open again and I stare greedily out the window for Dana's form.

Eric walks out first and once his eyes find mine all he does is shake his head lightly, partly from what I assume to be exasperation and also a tinge of awe as I've managed once again to disrupt their plans.

I'm glad he's impressed, it's about time people started seeing me as a threat.

Although my actions so far have only proven to backfire on Dana and myself but I'm still confident.
I've had two chances to escape, third times a charm.

Dana is next to walk out, cautiously after Eric.
Her steps are shaky but as her eyes fly up to mine I see them overflowing with hope and she gives me a timid thumbs up to congratulate my efforts.
I smile softly in return.

Axel is next and after seeing the stunt Dana pulled he uses his palm to slap the back of her head.

Dana stumbles into Eric crying out and I let loose a string of unheard curse words.
Eric is quick to position Dana in front of him and sending a warning glance at Axel he remains silent and continues the brisk pace to his own car.

I'm torn seeing Dana and not being able to reach her and as she is surprisingly gently helped into the front passenger seat I feel my desire to join those two intensify.

However I'm trapped here and as Axel begins hobbling towards the van my whole attention is taken by him.

His bruises are still angry shades of blue and black and he is favouring his right leg with each slow step.
His hands twitch with the need to support himself on the fence as he passes through but he refuses.

I allow my eyes to take in his deadly expression and gulp obnoxiously knowing that he can't hear me anyway.

Both his eyes and the bridge of his nose has received the harshest treatment and it looks as though he is wearing a morbid mask as you can barely see his eyes among the swelling.

I can however feel the emotion and I know that Axel is out for revenge.
I hold his stare even as it grows sharper and I only flinch when he finally reaches my side of the door.

He tugs harshly on the handle and after finding it locked he huffs out an annoyed breath while I sigh one of relief.

Lastly Rosik jogs out of the house with a small suitcase holding what I assume to be Axel's and his items and I can't help but selfishly hope that he tells Axel to get in the other car.
There are only three seats in this van and I do NOT want to be sandwiched between them.

Rosiks notices my worried gaze and doesn't break his stride as he clicks his keys and unlocks the doors.
Axel smirks as my shoulders drop and he is quick to open the door while Rosik runs to the other car to throw in the suitcase.

"Don't look so uncomfortable. You should prefer to be close to me. I just want you dead, Rosik is capable of much worse." Axel murmurs and I bite my tongue, his words sending a cold flush down my spine.

I shuffle quickly over to the middle and snap my seatbelt in place, learning my lesson from the last erratic drive.

Axel gets comfortable in his seat, groaning slightly as he opens the glovebox and starts pushing aside all the empty wrappers.

His search becomes more desperate as he finds nothing but corpses of plastic. He looks in the cup holders and finally starts kicking around the floor. Needing a sugary fix.

"You better not have fucking eaten my food." Axel threatens however all I do is continue watching him from the side of my vision and keeping my arms from touching any part of him.

Rosik rips open the door and smiles at me darkly before hopping in his seat. Instantly Rosik drops one hand on my thigh and squeezes tightly.

He doesn't even grace Axel with a glance before stuffing the key in the ignition and forcing the van to life.

"Shit." Axel suddenly mutters shocked and it's only then that both Rosik and I give him our outright attention and I instantly wish that I hadn't.

Clenched in his hand is the car manual that I had also forgotten to put back in the glovebox.

"No way... Fuck! I loved this van!"
Axel complains and I feel Rosik grow rigid next to me.

"We have to ditch the van Rosik. She fucking told the cops." Even Axel sounds slightly impressed while I just curse my stupidity.

I didn't think the men would notice details, I underestimated them and got too cocky judging their characters.
I should have known better.

I don't trust myself to face Rosik.

Even after Axel glances at him, understanding flashing through his eyes and he quickly hobbles out of the van into Eric's car.

I remain stiff even as Rosiks hand lightly trails from my thigh, to my hip, brushes the side of my breast and finally settles on my collarbone.

I bite back a sob but keep my gaze straight ahead.
I know I am going to suffer for this no matter what until the police strike so I whisper in a breathy tone, hoping my words hit him hard.

"I don't regret a thing." And that's when Rosiks hand circles around my neck and then suddenly reaches up and presses his palm tightly against my nose and mouth.

I try to remain limp, knowing the horrible experience will be slightly more pleasant but my body goes into fight mode as all my air whooshes out in a surprised gasp.

I try to use my elbows to jab him, but it's like jabbing wood.
I'm tugged backwards until my head is resting in his lap and keeping me pinned by my mouth and nose he stares down at me with so many dark promises.

"I'll make you regret it. I was going to wait until I'd officially bought you to start training you. Keep it traditional but I'm thinking that I've been patient enough. It's time." He grumbles out and as I feel something hard beneath my head I attempt to squeal but with no air coming in it just sounds like a hiccup.

Blackness is quickly approaching and originally I wanted to welcome it but with the pooling looks of lust and power filling Rosiks eyes I can't help but try to fight back.

My lungs are screaming and so is my mind.
I shouldn't have told the police to wait, I should have taken the risk.
If Rosik goes too far then I don't know if I'll make it.

However all my mild attacks do nothing to stop Rosik and so eventually my eyes shut closed and my body unwillingly loosens against Rosiks hard form.

I feel him sigh as I relax and that's the last thing I'm aware of before everything is dunked in nothing.
