...
The room was enveloped in a hazy, moonlit glow as the broken glass window allowed pale rays to filter through. In the midst of the dimness, a figure sat before a gleaming mirror, whispering words into the silence. Her voice, slurred by intoxication, struggled to form coherent sentences.
The room exuded an air of decadence and neglect, a testament to a life lived on the edge. Her discarded heels lay in a disheveled heap, forgotten remnants of nights filled with dance and allure. The once-lustrous bearskin coat, now draped carelessly on the dusty wooden floor, whispered of opulence lost to the passage of time. Empty glass bottles, scattered like fallen soldiers, bore witness to her nocturnal indulgences, their contents drained in moments of reckless abandon.
Amidst the haze of smoke that clung to the air, her beauty emerged as a mesmerizing contradiction. Despite the remnants of a wild night scattered about, her allure was unmistakable. Disheveled locks cascaded around her face, framing eyes that held a hint of mischief and a world of secrets. Her lips, adorned in a vibrant shade of purple macaron lipstick, curled into a sly smile.
Contrastive to the palace and her controversial presence, the lone mirror, positioned in front of her, shimmered with an otherworldly radiance. It seemed to possess its own source of illumination, casting an ethereal glow upon the figure and the room.
"The guardians... Oh, let's not speak of them. They know naught of their responsibilities, nor of their true selves," she mumbled, her words barely audible. The mirror continued to shine, as if infused with a mysterious energy.
"I shall do my utmost, Master. Yet, that guardian... Oh, grant me..." Her sentence trailed off, interrupted by the sudden arrival of a man cloaked entirely in black, wearing a mask and hoodie. In his hand, he held a cell phone, hastily making his way toward the figure bathed in pale moonlight.
"What? Who dares disturb me at this ungodly hour? I expected documents, not a mere phone!" she bellowed, her anger resonating through the darkness. In an instant, a glass bottle flew through the air, colliding with the wall and shattering into countless shards, staining the wooden floor with splatters of crimson liquid.
"It's Mondi, ma'am. Thought it might be urgent..." the man spoke, his voice tinged with caution. He retreated slightly, aware of the fiery temper that consumed the figure in the dimly lit room.
"Huh? What business does that fool have with me? We concluded our deal ages ago..." she growled, her frustration palpable. The man remained silent, his form poised to depart.
"Wait! Bring it here. Let me see what this is. If it's not of utmost importance, he shall face the consequences tonight!" she exclaimed, her words laced with a menacing tone. The man cautiously handed her the phone, wary of her volatile temperament.
She grasped the device carelessly, her throat clearing with a resounding echo that reverberated within the small, empty room. Her lips, adorned in a vibrant shade of purple macaron lipstick, twisted into a displeased frown as she prepared to delve into the unexpected message.
As she listened to the voice on the other end, her expression morphed from displeasure to a mixture of curiosity and concern. The words she heard carried a weight she couldn't ignore, stirring a sense of urgency within her.
"Mondzano Clark, you should know I have little interest in mere fairy tales like Harry Potter, particularly that Philosopher's Stone nonsense..."
"You will be intrigued once you become involved. See what are the odds? If we make it we will be getting the Covetous Relics and even if we fail..we will still be having the powers," a calm voice interrupted her, emanating from the other end of the line.
She arched an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. The mention of the Covetous Relics struck a chord within her.
"I am well aware that you have your own matters to attend to. However, if you join us this once, I can assure you that everything will be resolved."
"Resolved? My ass!" She scoffed.
"Meet me tomorrow at our customary spot, at our usual time."
"I have no intention of attending. Do not waste your breath."
"I know that you will come." With those words, the call concluded, leaving the girl in macron lipstick deep in bewildered contemplation.
Hours passed as she pondered, her thoughts swirling in a whirlwind of uncertainty. She knew that the legends the others were so interested in, the tales of the ancient Covetous Relics and three Guardians, held a grain of truth.
The Covetous Relics, born from humanity's insatiable greed, had the power to bring both chaos and salvation. And now that it had reached desperate time, her role and the knowledge she held could guide the guardians, 'the chosen ones' as mentioned in the The Covenant's Prophecy, toward fulfilling their destinies and preserving the delicate balance of the world.
Eventually, after much deliberation, lady macron made her decision to embark upon this unexpected task, driven by a mix of curiosity and a desire to confront the unknown. The path ahead was uncertain, and doubts lingered, but the messenger knew that she had a pivotal role to play in the unfolding events.

"Oh. My. God! Lex check this out!"
As I scrolled through the pictures of my brother's lavish mansion, astonishment overcame me, and an astonished gasp escaped my lips. The four-story luxury mansion, gleaming with pristine white marble and adorned with a grand balcony, was a sight that would surprise anyone, including me. It was a stark contrast to the humble beginnings we had shared in the orphanage.
The truth was, I knew very little about my brother, Kai. Our paths had diverged years ago, and I had been avoiding any contact with him ever since. It had been nearly a decade since he escaped from the orphanage we once called home, leaving me, his only sister, behind. The scars of abandonment had lingered, deepening the divide between us.
Allow me to introduce myself. I am Luna Mirabelle Kassel, the one and only sister of Kai Cloene Kassel. With a cascade of black foxy hair, playfully tinged with hints of red, and captivating blue eyes that mirrored Kai's, I was known to be a vision of youthful beauty.Red lipstick was my signature, and I was studying at a prestigious boarding school in Relle.
Now, as I sat there, engrossed in a brief background check on my long-lost sibling, Lexi chimed in with an equally surprising remark, piercing through my thoughts. "Lucky you got kicked out, isn't it?" she casually commented, peering over my shoulder at the phone screen.
Startled by her words, I blinked in disbelief. "What?!"
Lexi, lazily leaning on the coffee table, shrugged nonchalantly. "I mean, it's not a bad thing, right? It's more like a promotion than a punishment."
Her words hung in the air, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions swirling within me. Confusion, curiosity, and a tinge of resentment tugged at my heart. The idea of entering Kai's extravagant world filled me with both apprehension and a sense of defiance.
"A promotion? Huh?" I retorted, caught off guard by her perspective.
Lexi shifted on the chair, resting her head on my shoulder. "I'll surely miss our sweet times together, but at least you'll have a good time there. You've suffered enough," she mumbled, her voice laced with a hint of melancholy.
I pouted, feeling a tinge of sadness. "Don't get your hopes up, Lex. It's not like it's going to be half as great as you think. Just the thought of being around him dulls my aura."
Lexi turned her gaze away, giving me a lazy, blank stare. She had worked tirelessly on our year-end project, single-handedly carrying the load despite both our names being on the profile we submitted to our lecturer that afternoon. Silence filled the room as I continued analyzing the information on my phone screen. Suddenly, Lexi jerked up from her position, startling me in the process.
"Will you take me with you when you go shopping?" she asked, her eyes gleaming with excitement. The prospect of shopping with her bestie, who was about to become incredibly rich in no time, had reinvigorated her.
I chuckled at her reaction. It wasn't the first time I had witnessed Lexi's love for fancy clothes and makeup. However, my expression darkened as another thought crossed my mind, and my pout grew wider.
"I'm not sure I'll stay there for long. Look for an apartment for me. I'd rather have my own place than stay with that bastard," I declared, my tone filled with determination.
Lexi's eyes widened, understanding the gravity of my words. She nodded, a flicker of concern in her gaze. "Alright, Luna. I'll start looking for a place right away. You deserve to have your own space, away from his shadow."
Her support brought a wave of gratitude, soothing the unease that had settled within me. I knew I could count on Lexi to be my anchor throughout this unpredictable journey.
Days turned into nights, and soon it was the morning of my departure.
I woke up nestled in the worn-out bedding, holding onto Lexi tightly, cherishing the warmth of our friendship. The mere thought of leaving her side and moving in with my brother irritated me. I had postponed this visit for as long as possible, finding solace in sneaking into the girls' dorm to spend one last night with my bestie, even though I had already been strictly forbidden inside..
"Luna, can't you hear me? Get up already!" Lexi nudged me, pushing the heavy lump that was my sleepy body. Reluctantly, I untangled myself from her embrace and slipped into my slippers, preparing for the day ahead.
"Just promise me you won't start a fight with him, okay?" Lexi pleaded.
I smirked, unable to make any such promise. "I can't make any guarantees."
"Luna!"
"Let me live," I retorted, staring blankly out of the window. As the morning sun peeked through the curtains, casting a warm glow on the room, Lexi sprang into action. Determined to lighten the atmosphere, she rummaged through my wardrobe, pulling out an array of outfits.
"Come on, babe! Let's find the perfect look for your big reunion," she exclaimed, holding up a vibrant red dress that she knew I adored.
I sighed, not quite in the mood for fashion dilemmas, but Lexi's infectious enthusiasm couldn't be ignored. Reluctantly, I joined her in the task of getting ready, slipping into the dress and allowing her to style my hair in loose waves. As she worked her magic, skillfully applying makeup to enhance my features, she couldn't resist injecting some playful banter into the atmosphere. Her words danced in the air, carrying a mix of wit and familiarity.
"Alright, Luna, let's get you all dolled up for the big showdown with Mr. Responsible Big Brother," Lexi said with a smirk, holding up a brush like a weapon.
I chuckled, playing along with her antics. "Oh, you mean the 'I'm-so-serious-and-in-control' one? I can't wait to see him squirm."
Lexi raised an eyebrow, adopting an exaggerated serious tone. "Luna, I hope you're prepared for the 'I'm-in-charge-and-you-better-listen' lecture. You know he's going to pull that card." She struck a pose, pretending to straighten an imaginary tie. "Oh, Luna, you may think you're all grown up, but I'll always be one step ahead, watching out for you."
I rolled my eyes, mimicking Kai's voice with a hint of annoyance. "Luna, you're my little sister, and it's my duty to protect you from all the dangers of the world."
Lexi burst into laughter, mimicking Kai's serious face and adding a comical twist. "Oh, Luna, I'm so wise and responsible. Listen to me or face the consequences!"
We both erupted into giggles, unable to contain our amusement. It was moments like these that reminded me why Lexi was my partner in crime.
"Lexi, you have his annoying older brother act down to a T," I said, wiping away tears of laughter. We continued our playful banter, slipping into familiar sibling roles, mocking each other's quirks and teasingly imitating Kai's protective nature. The tension that had gripped me earlier melted away, replaced by a sense of comfort and familiarity. Finally, we took a moment to catch our breath, grinning at each other like co-conspirators.
"You ready to show him what you're made of, Luna?" Lexi asked, holding my gaze.
I nodded, a newfound determination shining in my eyes. "Absolutely. He won't know what hit him."
Lexi playfully tousled my hair. "That's the spirit! You're not just his little sister. You're a force to be reckoned with."
I straightened my posture, channeling my inner confidence. "You're right, Lexi. I won't let him belittle me or overshadow my accomplishments. I'll show him the fierce and capable woman I've become."
We shared a moment of understanding, knowing that our sibling bond was stronger than any disagreement or rivalry. With a final nod, I headed towards the door, ready to face the complexities and challenges of my reunion with Kai, knowing that Lexi's support and our shared humor would be my secret weapons along the way.
"Promise me you'll have a fantastic time," Lexi exclaimed. I couldn't help but smile at her relentless optimism. Lexi had always been my rock, my source of laughter in the toughest times. Her lightheartedness was infectious, and it served as a reminder that I wasn't alone in this journey.
"Thanks, Lex," I said, my voice filled with gratitude. "You always know how to lift my spirits."
She beamed, giving me a final twirl before linking arms with me. "Now, let's go show them what you're made of, Luna! You're a force to be reckoned with!"
With renewed confidence and a best friend by my side, I stepped out of the room, ready to face whatever awaited me beyond the grand white gate. As the cab navigated the city streets, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building within me, a mixture of nerves and excitement. Lexi's words echoed in my mind, reassuring me that I had the power to make this experience my own, no matter the challenges that lay ahead.
The city buildings passed by in a blur. The cab took countless turns before finally coming to a stop in front of an impressive white gate, revealing a beautifully manicured green yard beyond its arches.
"Looks like your new home," Lexi remarked.
"It won't be that lucky. Just watch me. But yeah, thanks for reminding me that if it weren't for him, I'd be sleeping on the streets.I'll let him have that."
As I stepped out of the cab, clutching my luggage, I swung my backpack onto my shoulders, receiving one last goodbye hug from Lexi. I watched the cab disappear before making my way through the green yard, guided by two black-clad security guards, towards the grand mansion at the other end.
Entering the stylish front shed, the polished wooden doors with intricate carvings and bronze handles swung open, revealing a towering figure in a blue nightgown and loose pants. Kai, my brother, stood there, his arms outstretched for a warm hug. I rolled my eyes, already irritated by his attempt to invoke our old sibling camaraderie. Gripping the strap of my backpack tightly, I swiftly maneuvered past him, not succumbing to his welcoming embrace.
"Hi, Kai. Good to see you," I muttered curtly, dropping my backpack on a nearby couch. I couldn't help but be taken aback by the sheer grandeur and simplicity of the place. The scent of fresh lavender permeated the air, and a spiral wooden staircase wound its way up through the white-tiled hall. A majestic chandelier illuminated a cozy sofa set below, while carved wooden doors adorned the creamy-gold walls, presumably leading to the rooms.
Kai cleared his throat, breaking the momentary silence. "Well..." His husky voice trailed off as he turned to face me fully. His expression revealed disappointment, evidently not pleased with my attitude. But that was nothing new between us. Although I had successfully avoided encounters with my brother for the past decade, we occasionally ran into each other in public, maintaining a facade of civility for the world's sake. And during these forced encounters, I never missed an opportunity to ignite Kai's temper with my overwhelming attitude.
"In this household, we value manners and proper behavior," Kai lectured, his frustration palpable.
I chuckled, dismissing his words. "Manners? That's rubbish."
"Luna, behave! What do you think you are?" Kai's tone hardened.
"I'm a world-class brat. In case you forgot, I got kicked out of my hostel school recently," I replied, a burst of anger and hatred that I had so long been kept in watch suddenly springing out of me.I conjured the most hated scowl I could summon as I glared at him ready to burn.
"Luna!" Kai's fist clenched, his anger simmering. It had only been two minutes since I had stepped into the ride of living under the same roof as him and we were already at each other's throats.
Interrupting our heated exchange, a door at the far end of the hall swung open, revealing another man in a cream-colored nightgown and white loose pants. Kai turned towards him, and their eyes locked for a brief moment before both men broke into relieved smiles.
I rolled my eyes yet again. There he was—the "very handsome young man" who had apparently stolen my brother's heart. I couldn't care less about his existence but I had my own score to settle with Kai. Amidst the tension, he approached Kai,proceeding as far to stand next to him as he hooked his hand around Kai's, his smile unwavering and voice calm and soothing. "Kai, let's not start on the wrong foot. Luna, I'm Dexture, you can call me Dex too if you want and I hope we can get along."
I looked at him with indifference, my eyes scanning his face, analyzing him. He was undeniably handsome, with perfectly styled dark hair and captivating hazel eyes. But no amount of charm could win me over. I knew better than to trust appearances.
"As long as you don't meddle in my business, we'll be fine," I replied nonchalantly.
Dexture exchanged a knowing glance with Kai, both seemingly unfazed by my resistance. I could sense that this reunion was not going to be smooth sailing. There were still secrets buried beneath the surface, and it was only a matter of time before they resurfaced, demanding their rightful place in our lives.
