Madman // Part 2
Daniel was just about to leave Jazz Bar. He was feeling as if he was walking on the edge of a heavy, grey, thunderous cloud. It may have scared anyone else to feel this way, but being all wrapped up with the way he was in his present existence brought him so much exhilaration he felt like he was holding the whole world in his hands.
The frontman never felt that way before. Not once. Not even on stage.
Jazzua had walked out from behind the bar to follow Daniel to the door. He reached out to stop him yet all he could grab hold of was the hood of Dan's black jacket that he had zipped up over his Ministry shirt. Chris had taken it to his shop to give it a good clean since Dan had worn it almost every day since the silver boys were back home.
That evening with Chloe, the night he murdered her heart, he wore white on purpose. He thought it would help him not cry until at least after she was out of sight. It worked. Now that shirt was ruined and in the trash. It mystified Chris that he wasn't able to get the black tears out of that fabric. Daniel was glad to be rid of that shirt, though. He wanted to erase that entire night from his memory.
With his fingers clenching Dan's hoodie, Jazzua pleaded, "Daniel, you've had quite a lot to drink, mate. Are you sure you don't want me to call a taxi for you? No dramas. It'll take less than a minute."
Jazzua let go of the hood as Daniel brought it up over his hair. A few dreadlocks stuck out on the sides next to his temples. "I'm good, mate. Never felt better."
The silver god nodded and winked at the bartender and left toward his next destination, walking into the welcoming arms of the night.

Sometimes lyrics for an unwritten song would just flood into Daniel's synapses.
If he was near his yellow notebook, he would just write them all out until the words stopped or ran away from him. Tonight, the words stung his bruised, black heart. He sang it out loud in an alleyway between shops to get it out of his chest so he could breathe again.
"But it's all the same to me ... but it's all the same to me ... but it's all the same to me."
As unwelcome, black tears forced their way up and out of him, he hastily wiped at his eyes with the unraveled ends of his sleeves. If his nails were already bitten down to nothing, he'd nibble at the hem of his clothing. He wept, kept wiping away tears and kept singing, "But it's all the same to me ... "
He knew what he was about to do was freaking stupid and made no sense, but when everything feels good and bad, good and evil, good and sad --- what have you got to lose?

Daniel almost ditched his plan. His absent heart started playing games with him again. The phantom heart he once had beat in his chest and willed him away from where he wanted to go, tempting him to find a school field instead and see if he could fly. He had a feeling that he could and that made the tension in his body ease up some.
If he could really fly he could go anywhere he wanted to, whenever. Maybe he would do that. Just fly away and never come back.
He was almost there, though, he was almost at her house.
The mere sight of her bedroom light glowing in the distance set his skin on fire. He knew seeing her would douse the flames engulfing his dark and empty self and maybe even make a body out of his ashes.
He needed her to make something out of what very little was left of him. Daniel knew she could do that for him if he asked her to.
Slowly, he floated to her window. He slid his hoodie back and waited for her to notice him. His arms opened wide as he grabbed onto the frame of her window.
Chloe had just walked into her room from the hallway. She took off her robe and threw it over her desk chair. She was wearing a thin, heather grey singlet dress.
His eyes burned violet when he traced her figure with them. Her neck glowed yellow beneath the light of her dim lamp. He felt caught again---caught between wanting to kiss her and wanting to drink her. Not all of her, no, but just enough to taste her. The points of his fangs threatened to draw his own blood as he bit down onto his full, bottom lip.
Chloe gripped at the place her heart was when she caught sight of Daniel through her window. Her chest was heaving as she made her way over to him. She slid her window open and was absolutely speechless and then incredibly angry with him.
"What are you doing here?" Chloe spat through clenched teeth. She looked over at her robe behind her. She felt naked around him like this in just her thin dress.
"I've come to see you. I miss you."
His eyes flickered between pale blue and what looked to be some hypnotizing shade of deep purple, but Chloe just thought it was her emotions making her hallucinate, distracting her from the real issue here.
"I'm not doing this dance again, Daniel."
"What dance?" He knew precisely what she was talking about, but he wanted her to talk more. Whether words of passion or disdain poured forth, Daniel wanted them all. He wanted to sip on every word out of her mouth.
"The let's-get-back-together-even-though-I-ripped-your-heart-out dance. Don't act stupid. I hate it when you do that." She crossed her arms in front of her chest.
It didn't do anything to help her, though. Daniel could hear her heart beating erratically. He knew it beat just for him.
The frontman could dedicate his whole endless life to writing songs based on the beats of her lovely, true-flowing, very red heart. He longed for that.
Up until this point, Chloe stood with her back pin-straight and her brow furrowed, but when she saw a smile work its way through his lips and all over his face, she knew she was a goner. Her brow loosened immediately and her shoulders slumped.
"How the hell are you at my window anyway?"
"Huh?"
"You heard me, Daniel, how are you at-"
"I took your father's ancient ladder out of the shed. Relax."
She exhaled, very annoyed, and ran her fingers through her loose hair. It lay over her collarbone in waves left over from a braid she had worn earlier in the day.
Daniel could smell the scent of her as she did so, and he almost dropped down to the ground in desire. The quick dip in control only occurred within him, though, and Chloe did not notice a single change in his demeanor. She only saw his incredibly handsome face made that much more gorgeous by the warm glow of the lamp on her bedside table.
Chloe rolled her eyes and asked, "Why didn't you ever do anything remotely like this when we were together? This is the kind of crap chicks go bananas for."
"Really? It's not only just true in the movies?" His lips curled into an innocent grin.
Chloe reached out to slap his hand resting on her windowsill. "You're such an ass."
His grin widened as his eyes looked up at the moon above her house. "I never said I wasn't. I did say I'd always love you, though."
She dropped her arms to her sides and searched his face in the dark. "Daniel, why are you here? I'm tired. I'm ready to go to bed."
Daniel's grip tightened on her windowsill. "So am I."
She knew that look in his eyes.
Chloe averted her gaze elsewhere just as they both heard a rustle in the bushes below them from the sidewalk next to her house.
Whether that noise came from an animal or human, Daniel knew he had to act fast. He risked getting caught. Humans are not spotted hovering next to teenage girls' windows after all. Also, he wanted her to let him into her bedroom because she wanted him in there.
He wanted her to want him just as much as he wanted her.
She tilted her head to one side and smiled, overly sweet, almost artificial, and leaned in as she said to him, "Those kind of invitations, Daniel, were put on indefinite hold when you decided you didn't want to be with me anymore. I still love you, more than you could ever imagine, but I'm not ready to be hurt all over again. You're the sweetest, most tender guy I've ever known, but you also don't know how to let anyone go easily."
"If you let me in," the vampire's eyes glimmered and slid lazily between lavender and the faintest of blues, "I'll make it up to you."
