Brian came earlier than Caroline expected so she almost tripped down the stairs putting on her other shoe. Brian giggled a little and Caroline threw a note book at him. 

"Are you ready?" Brian spun his keys too hard when he said this and hit the ceiling.

"Yeah, but you aren't." It was her turn to laugh because the keys got stuck in a potted plant.

He rolled his eyes and picked his keys up.

Bill lived in his own apartment which was surprisingly well furnished for an eighteen-year-old. Caroline must have looked surprised because Bill started laughing.

"Bill your furniture must have killed her." Brian joked.

"I didn't think it looked too bad." Bill smirked.

Caroline rolled her eyes and lightly hit Brian's arm. A girl with dark hair came out of the kitchen with a salad.

"Abuse much, who's she?" The girl pointed at Caroline with her fork.

"I have no clue, Brian brought her. He probably kidnapped her." 

Brian put his hands on Caroline's shoulders and moved her forwards a little. "Bill and Janet, this is Caroline."

"Uhm.. Hello." Caroline waved a little.

Bill and Janet laughed and introduced themselves. The boys went into the kitchen to get food and Caroline talked to Janet.

"So how do you know Brian?" Janet asked.

"He knocked me over at the mall." Caroline laughed.

"Well that's one way to meet. So how long have you liked him?"

"What are you talking about?"

"It's written all over your face."

"I-"

"You can try to deny it but I know different. Just remember you weren't the first in line."

"Let's go help the boys in the kitchen." Caroline walked away.

Janet opened the door to the kitchen and Caroline walked in after her. Janet put her hand on Brian's arm, flashed a look at Caroline, then put her arms around Bill and kissed his cheek.

"You boys need any help?" Janet asked while leaning on the counter.

"Sure. Janet could you cut some summer sausage and Caroline if you want to you can slice some cheese." Bill asked over his shoulder.

The girls walked to the fridge and pulled out the food. Janet grabbed a knife and started cutting the summer sausage right next to the knifes. Caroline asked Janet to hand her a knife.

"Oh Caroline, you should be more careful." Janet said this with a smirk.

Caroline was confused for a second then Janet cut her hand with the knife she was supposed to hand her.

"Ouch-"

"What's going on-" Brian came over and saw Caroline's bleeding hand. "Caroline let me get you a band-aid and clean you up."

Brian walked Caroline to the bathroom then grabbed a washcloth and a band-aid. 

"Caroline, you should really watch what you're doing."

"It wasn't me, it was Janet."

"What do you mean?"

"She cut me with the knife I asked her hand me."

"Hmm?"

"I get it you don't believe me." Caroline looked down at Brian cleaning her hand.

"No I believe you, she gets strange when she's with other girls."

"Why?"

"I don't know but I think we should go."

"I agree."

Brian finished with Caroline's hand and told Bill that they were going home. On the car ride home Brian kept glancing at Caroline when they were at stop lights. They got to Caroline's house and Brian got out and opened her door just as she was going to. She tripped on the curb and grabbed Brian's arm. At the door Brian apologized about Janet.

"It's okay, you didn't know." Caroline smiled a little.

"Caroline can we go on a date next Saturday?" Brian grabbed Caroline's hand.

"Yeah, I'd like that."

Brian smiled and kissed her hand. Caroline gave him a hug and smiled back. They said goodbye and Brian drove away.

When Caroline told her mom she was going on a date next Saturday her mom got so excited.

"Oh yeah, we're making progress!" Her mom was full of joy.

Caroline was pretty happy too.
