5 Years Later
"Ayye boys, Cassandra brought pizza!" Luke yelled as he flung open the door to reveal his favorite manager holding several boxes of pizza. His mouth watered as he inhaled the delicious smell of pepperoni and he grabbed the boxes out of her hands. "Thanks Cassie!!!" He yelled over his shoulder as he ran to the kitchen and heaped several slices onto his plate. He flung himself into his blue beanbag chair in front of the gaming TV and started eating his pizza as the other boys spilled into the kitchen, heaping their own plates and settling on the couch. "Okay, so I was thinking," Cassie said as she settled on the coffee table in front of the boys. "Whaf is ift?" Calum asked with his mouth full of pizza. Cassie smiled and shook her head at his lack of manners then resumed speaking. "I was thinking we could go take a vacation to where you all grew up. Relax a little, ya know? You boys have been working so hard for the past 3 years, I want to give you all a breather. Sound good?" It was silent for exactly 5 seconds before anybody said anything; and of course it was broken by everyone yelling their agreement. "Sounds great!" "Where will we stay?" "For how long?" "This is so cool!" "Penguins!!" Everyone stopped talking for a moment. "Who yelled 'penguins'?" Ashton asked, bewildered. Luke awkwardly raises his hand as everybody stares at him for a moment. "Anyways!" Cassie clapped her hands together loudly, startling everybody into looking at her. "We will be staying for 2 months in either Luke's house or a private hotel, whichever you all would prefer." She said briskly, looking around at all the boys. They looked at each other for a moment then looked at Cassie and Michael said "Luke's mom's house if she's okay with it."
"Um Mikey, what do you think I should pack? I already packed all my skinny jeans." Luke asked from the closet where he was currently sprawled on his piles of clothes. "Luke, you don't need to worry. Just throw in some clean shirts and if you forgot something, we'll buy it once we get there." Mikey replied from where he was leaning against the door frame, looking down at Luke's converse-clad feet sticking out of the closet. "Alright, thanks man." Luke picked himself off the floor and started pulling shirts off their hangers and underwear and socks out of his drawers and throwing them all into his two suitcases. Mikey threw one last look at the lanky 17 year old as he exited the room, wondering what it would be like to go home. Home? He hadn't thought of home in a while...
Luke woke up with his head on Mikey's shoulder, from someone tapping his arm. He looked around in confusion, bleary-eyed. "Luke honey, it's me Cassie. I need to tell you all something before we land." Cassie stood next to the seat where Ashton was sprawled and began. "Now, I've told the press you all were going away for awhile, I didn't tell them where. In fact, I leaked a false trail that ends in Britain, so it's unlikely anyone will find you all in the States." She smirked for a moment, pleased the plan had worked, then continued. "Obviously I don't think I need to ask, but in order for you all to be undisturbed so you can relax, you can't use social media on this trip. Take all the pictures and videos you want while you're here, but don't post any of them or you'll give away your hiding spot." Calum and Ashton grinned at her choice of words and she laughed. "Right, so everybody understand? No social media." Everybody nodded and agreed, then Mikey announced "'Kay I need food now." Luke laughed at him then signaled the flight attendent and fell back asleep.
Luke was sitting on his old bed, in his old room. It's was weird to be back. He'd mostly slept in hotels for the past 3 years, and only eaten take-out or at restuarants. It was weird but good to be home. He shook his head, marveling at the fact that they hadn't been mobbed at the airport. They'd worn their sunglasses and hats of course, but nobody had taken any notice of them. It was strange but nice to be so... anonymous. None of them had gotten that luxury for 3 years. It was amazing to be famous of course, but it was still strange to have everybody know his name and want his autograph and quote his own songs to him. He was just glad he had the rest of the band to help him through it. He wouldn't be able to cope with everything if it weren't for Mikey, Calum, and Ashton. He smiled, thinking about all the experiences they'd shared. He'd known Calum the longest, but they were all his family. Luke laid back in bed and closed his eyes.
He was just drifting off to sleep when a sudden thought tickled. Some people he hadn't thought about in years. And suddenly he found himself wondering if he'd see the mystery girl that had struck him speechless 5 years ago. What was her name? Aubrey, he thought. And Calum had said her friends' names were Callie, Faith, and he didn't know the dirty-blonde girl's name. Luke fell asleep wondering if he'd ever see them again, and hoping they wouldn't recognize him as a famous band member.
