summer
summer is the month
of delight,
cordiality and
companionship.
Seol never expected
it to also be the month of a
summer romance.
a significant summer romance
was never
on her bucket list.
the waves of the summer sea
had calmed down,
drawing together puddles
of decreased water,
under the scalding sun,
more people started to visit and
Taehyung and Seol
missed the solitude of their time
by the winter sea.
summer may have started
but Seol's assignments
continued to build up on her.
studying and continuous searching
of journal articles
tired her out
which is why she unintentionally
ghosted her boyfriend.
the panic attacks became worse
in exam season.
when she's alone,
the thoughts become heavy,
along with her chest.
the panic in her body
made her mental
and physical state worse.
one lonely evening
she wanted to apologise to
her boyfriend
for ignoring him.
but Seol opened her door
startled to see him,
cheerfully.
she was just thinking about
how she doesn't deserve the man.
his new blue hair fitted summer
and his excellence
grew everyday.
waves of ocean azure strands,
matching the sea they both adored,
auburn eyes
filled with craving and i miss you's
as he took her hands in his-
thumb stroking the back of her hand
in small circles.
"let's go to the sea."
his words were naive,
not paying attention to how
he was ignored
for several days.
they walked to his car,
the sun shining it's russet light
onto their appealing faces,
illuminating their glow and
sudden bliss-
taken away by the disease
of love sickness.
the sea came into view,
people scattered across its landscape.
Seol was content with
the sight, the smell, the touch
and Taehyung.
he interlocked their fingers,
taking off his shoes
as sand fell onto his feet,
giggling.
Seol forgot about her work,
her extensive assignments, tough revision
didn't matter
when it came to the boy who
truly loved her.
she thought about why
she wasted beloved time
ghosting him
when she could've gained
comfort in Taehyung.
that evening
Seol opened up to Taehyung
about her panic disorder,
her constant fear of dying
and losing control.
her thoughts, emotions
must be familiar to the therapist
but he made her feel welcome
and loved.
that's what she needed
yet it didn't stay that way.
